Dear readers.
I am alive.
I am only getting back from my father's passing last October 5th. And last November 13th was his 40th day and in my country that is a sort of tradition. But on the morning of it, we heard the news that a grandma of ours had also passed away on the morning of 13th.
Life is nowhere easy right now, and I am really, really trying.
Please raise your wands for my family.
Sending love and light

Prologue
“Protego!”
The jet of light shot from Hermione’s wand and the spell casted towards them quickly rebounded away.
“In here!” she called out breathlessly. “Harry – Ron-“
There were more footsteps in what looked like a barren, dark and old bar.
The footsteps halted and soon, the trio found themselves altogether in breathless silence.
“Are you sure that you-“
“HE JUST ATTACKED US!” Harry angrily rounded on her. “And did you not just see –“
“I saw it too-“ Hermione reasoned out walking forward and blocking the other two from advancing in the deserted corridor. “But we can’t just-“
“If you don’t feel like coming with us, Hermione, you can just go.” Ron said gesturing his wand towards the door that they’ve entered.
“It’s not that.” Hermione said eyes flashing at Ron. “Are you sure it was Draco?” she asked more to Harry in a pleading voice.
“I won’t ask you to come with us if you don’t want to.” Harry simply told her, gently moving her aside and walking forward with his wand tight in his hand. “Don’t light the place, you’re going to alarm him.”
They adjusted their visions after all the glow of light from the spells had vanished.
Hermione’s eyes moved towards a half boarded up window where little light came.
The streets were barely with anyone else anymore telling her that they were down the street and alley that has been abandoned for quite some time now.
What a time to be alive and what a night to go out.
It was meant to be one night of drinking and getting their heads off from all the stress from work and just really celebrating the life they were now living.
They decided to go on a weekend at Scotland for a little bit of fun, beer and some sight-seeing.
It was the four of them.
Hermione, Ron, Harry and Ginny.
Or at the least, there were four of them hours ago.
“Harry, maybe we should call Auror or-“
“I am an Auror!” Harry angrily said gritting his teeth back at her. “You can go Hermione if you don’t want to do this!”
There was so much hate in his eyes but tears were also struggling at the sides of his eyelids.
Hermione looked back at him, completely hurting.
But she understood him.
She understood them both.
“I told you I heard her scream his name.” Harry said lowering his wand and facing away from her as if afraid that he would do something stupid with the wand in his hand. “You can go if you don’t believe me.”
“I believe you.” Ron said eyeing Hermione spitefully and walking close to Harry. “You can go.”
Hermione’s eyes turned to slits at Ron as she felt the offense deeper.
“
“It’s not like that.” she reasoned walking to them. “I just don’t want us getting into trouble-“
“Then keep quite because you’re not helping that way.” Ron angrily spat at her.
“Enough, Ron.” Harry gently said. “Well get inside. Round that door.”
The other two looked towards the door he was pointing at where the suspect was most likely hiding because there were no other exits in the place.
Hermione stared at the door as the two others rounded on either side of it as she quietly thought to herself how this night had gone horribly wrong and if they were wrong about Draco during the attack, they would be in serious trouble.
In truth, only Harry heard the scream of the name and although she did hear someone scream, there was no name she had heard.
They didn’t see who it was or who had run off for all she knew, they were just following a blur of someone.
They were all going after the attacker under Harry’s supposed instincts on what he had seen or rather heard.
“I’m just saying that if this isn’t Draco-“
“Are you with us or not?” Ron snapped at her losing his patience. “Because if you don’t think that it was Draco who had just murdered my sister out there, you are very, very welcome to leave.”
Hermione didn’t say anything out of too much hurt.
She knew what the other two were feeling at that moment and she was feeling it too.
But she didn’t want her emotions to get over her head.
And in times like this one, it wasn’t good to make a mistake and accuse someone a serious crime who she wasn’t even sure is in the same country at the moment.
Hermione Jean Granger had been working as Ministry Worker for months now.
Harry and Ron had not returned to Hogwarts last September but had assumed the offered position to be Aurors in Training at the Ministry of Magic under the new regime of the new government and both boys, particularly Harry Potter, excelled very well.
Harry James Potter was on his way to becoming the youngest Head Auror in his department given a year or less.
Although she had returned to Hogwarts, she had taken certain classes that were in irregular schedule with professor McGonagall’s help and is doing work for the Ministry as a worker to help the cause of the victims of the war.
Draco Malfoy, the accused at the moment, returned to Hogwarts only to take records from the school and had told the present headmaster, Minerva McGonagall, that he was not going to finish school and would eventually go through the Malfoy businesses and move to Denmark to settle and start a new life.
“He’s at Denmark.” Hermione bitterly thought to herself. “He can’t be here.”
What would Draco Malfoy be doing in Scotland?
A sudden movement caused their brains to rattle up.
“Upstairs!” Harry whispered taking her thoughts out of her head and next thing she knew they were running up the stairs through the darkness.
There was another entry way in the upper floor that she had not thought of and this time, she was more sure that they were pursuing someone whose presence was indeed here.
They halted at the landing and Harry signaled Ron that the place had no powerful magic and they could Apparate.
“Oh gods.” Hermione thought horribly as Ron disappeared and reappeared at the other side while Harry had done the same.
They blocked the door completely.
“Hermione!” Harry hissed at her, eyes wide in anticipation. “Hermione!”
She looked back at him, heart racing as he signaled her to block the other side of the door so that when they open it, they could secure the premises.
She didn’t want this idea and she definitely didn’t want to do this.
But they were her friends and at the moment, she could later logically deal if Draco indeed murdered someone tonight.
She nodded fervently at Harry and held her wand tight in her hand.
“On three.” Harry whispered at them as they edged closer to the door, wands at the ready.
“No Killing Curse.” Hermione warned the both of them, eyes sharp at them knowing the way they thought things over.
The other two looked read to murder but they both nodded quietly and agreed to it.
They neared the door, her heart thumping faster as they listened carefully and intently on movements from the other side of the door.
Someone was inside and the way that the movement was almost not there, very carefully done – it only meant there was no escape route at the other side.
He was trapped.
And he was going to get busted by her skillful magic and two extremely skillful and murderous Aurors at the moment.
She had prayed and hoped against hope even if she didn’t believe it herself, that it wasn’t Draco Malfoy on the other side of the door.
She didn’t want them to attack someone innocent let alone, put her friends’ names to be tarnished for wrongly accusing someone.
She had hated Draco all her life but she didn’t want to kill him off for no reason at all.
“One.” Harry breathed out heavily, fingers tighter over his wand as he reached closer the door.
“Two..” Ron said through gritted teeth.
“Three.”
All three of them whispered and then Hermione opened the door with an ‘Alohamora’ while Harry and Ron screamed two different spells at the same time.
The door had blasted open, jet of sparks filled the room as the other two screamed two different spells simultaneously and then there was smoke in the room and the sound of a body falling off.
Harry quickly entered first, followed by Ron and Hermione hesitantly followed them both, eyes around the room.
She whispered a spell to extinguish the smoke from the debris that had come off from the knock of the spell in the room.
They walked closer the room and saw a silhouette on the floor then and her eyes closed and opened as if she didn’t want to see who it was.
But she already knew in her heart who it was.
And as they walked nearer, goosebumps crept through her skin as they stood around the body lying on the floor with slight gash and blood over him from the attack and some fallen wood around him.
He was breathing, but he was barely alive.
“Gotcha.” Ron had muttered in spite as he slowly lowered his wand like Hermione.
But Harry didn’t lower his wand, he looked down as if he wanted to finish this boy off and the murder, anger and hurt in his eyes never left.
She could just feel the hate coursing through Harry’s blood as his shaking wand hand remained raised as if he was still contemplating what to do next.
And she knew what was going to happen next.
Her heart sank as she neared the body, her feet only a few inches from the body on the floor and her mind racing and screaming that this wasn’t as she knew it to be.
But it was happening right then and there.
“Harry..” Hermione whispered in fear as her eyes strained with tears as she looked down at the almost lifeless and bleeding form of none other than, Draco Malfoy.
