Harry glanced at the clock that graced the wall of his study, it had been two weeks since his brother’s wedding and honeymoon; now they were due home any time. He had hoped that the feeling of worry and dread would have lessened over the weeks, but it hadn’t. It was now so bad that he was short tempered and not sleeping at night. He was grateful that his bond-mate seemed to understand and didn’t chastise him for it. He had taken to avoiding his Fathers for fear of them forcing him to tell them what was going on and for fear that they would reprimand him for acting the way he was. Looking back to the paperwork in front of him he tried to focus on getting the reports done that needed to be done before turning to his schoolwork. He knew that being a businessman was not going to be easy and he knew that starting a business before school had even finished would be worse; he hated to admit that he wished he’d waited. The only good thing was that everything was running smoothly and that he had competent workers at the present time. Taking a deep breath, he set the report down and stood to fetch a drink from the sideboard, calling for his elf he asked for a light snack before turning to gaze out the window. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t hear the door open or notice that someone had stepped into the room until his name was called. Turning he grinned at his Father, James. “I’m sorry, I didn’t hear you come in,” he moved back to his desk and picked up the report again.
James watched Harry a moment, he was concerned that he seemed to be isolating himself from everyone but Tom. He worried that there was something going on and that Tom was the root cause for the change. He had voiced his concerns to his mates, but they had said that it was probably the stress of the business and school. He wasn’t so certain and now he wanted to know what was going on with his son. “I noticed that you have been hiding yourself away these past few weeks,” he hinted hoping Harry would open up to him and not shut down like he had taken to doing.
Harry looked up and sighed, “It’s been crazy, with the weddings, school and the business.” He admitted softly, “the end of year project that Draco and I are working on for potions is giving me fits and a headache. I also have an investor who’s making some outlandish demands and I may have to pull his investment because I refuse to do what he wants.” He glared at the offending piece of paper that outlined what the investor’s demands were. He hoped the explanation would make his Father happy, he knew that he should be spending time with them, but he didn’t want them to see how worried about things he really was.
James could see that his son wasn’t out right lying to him, but he was hiding something and that made his concern grow, “how are things with you and Tom?” he asked hoping to dig a little deeper without seeming like he was prying. Seeing his son’s eyes light up though he knew Tom was not the issue at hand.
Harry smiled for the first time as the conversation turned to his bond-mate, “it’s good, he says he has a big surprise planned for me for my birthday, but I don’t see how he can out do our honeymoon.” He laughed as he nibbled on his snack, “but then again he doesn’t have to outdo it, and I told I didn’t really want anything for my birthday, but he insisted that I need it. I know what I want for Christmas and I’m hoping that it’ll happen by that time…” his voice trailed off with a smile on his face.
James smiled, “oh what is it?” he asked hoping that maybe Harry wanted a child and that he was planning on having a family soon. Seeing the glint in his eyes he knew that he was right, he would be honest if asked he wanted grandchildren to fawn over.
“A baby, Tom wants to try as soon as possible, and I agree, I think the sooner the better.” Harry set his drink down as he glanced out the window wondering why Draco wasn’t home yet. “Of course, it would be funny as hell if Draco and I end up pregnant at the same time.”
“I think it would be great,” James admitted but now he was back to square one, he didn’t know what was ailing his oldest and he didn’t know what Harry was hiding from them. Thinking about the next question and how he wanted to word it he stopped when Harry’s elf popped in to announce that Master Draco was arriving.
“Thank you Tipsy,” Harry stood and stretched, “let’s go see how his honeymoon went, I bet he will talk our ears off just like I did you guys.” He laughed softly, but inwardly he wondered if everything was going to be alright or if seeing Draco would make the worry, he felt even worse.
James stood with him and tried to let Harry know that he was not alone in anything he said softly, “you know son, you can talk to me anytime, your Fathers and me we are here for you, even if it’s just to get shit off your chest,” he said hoping that Harry would get the hint.
“I know Father,” Harry nodded as he led the way out of the study, “I just need to get things done,” he temporized knowing that his Father was now worried about him and he realized that James thought Tom was causing him issues. “Things will get better I know that I just need to de-stress.” He grinned walking the hallway to where he knew everyone was gathered to greet Draco and Blaise and to welcome them back, he was surprised to see Blaise’s mother standing beside his Father Lucius. He thought she had said she was in France until the end of the month, it was clear that she ended her trip early or he had his information wrong. Nodding to his parents he tried to smile as Draco entered the entry way, but his smile faded when he saw how Draco was moving a little slow and stiffly, the last time he moved like that they had both taken a hard lesson from their sparring teacher. They had been so bruised and battered they could barely walk the next day.
Draco moved slowly into the entry way and smiled at his parents as Blaise moved in behind him, “Hello Father,” he suddenly realized that he was about to be hugged and he didn’t want anyone touching him, he knew that he had no choice in the matter though. Taking a breath, he moved closer and let his Father Lucius pull him into a hug. Closing his eyes against the pain he took a deep breath as he hugged him back and then hugged his Father Severus and James as Marinna greeted her son.
“I trust you guys had a good time.” Lucius smiled hoping to get Draco talking about his trip and the things they had seen. What caught his attention though was how Draco turned slightly to Blaise, as if asking permission to speak and how he winced when he embraced him.
Blaise smiled, “We did have a great time, didn’t we Dray?” he waited until all eyes were on Draco before he gave a slight glaring warning. The last thing he wanted was for the parents to be tipped off that something was going on. If Draco looked to him to speak that would arouse suspicion and he did not want that.
Draco nodded, “we did, saw a lot of Spain and the hotel was beautiful,” he answered. “Where is Harry?” he asked looking around a moment for his brother, “I figured he’d be the first one to the door,” he laughed softly.
“He was with me.” James looked around a little perplexed as to where his son had gone but then spotted him in the doorway to the parlor. “There he is…”
Harry had stepped into the parlor so he could watch without anyone realizing it and he did not like what he was seeing. He knew he needed to speak to Draco alone and the only way that was going to happen was if his Fathers suggested it and carted Blaise off somewhere. Stepping into the room he smiled at Draco, “Why don’t we grab seats, and you can tell us about it?” He suggested.
Lucius nodded, “that sounds like a great idea, dinner will be in an hour then you can get some rest, I know traveling takes a lot of you.” He grinned as they moved to the parlor to find seat and relax while they waited for supper. Moving into the room he locked eyes with Severus to silently tell him that he was worried, something was now not right.
Draco moved into the room as Blaise stepped in behind him, he could feel his disapproval and that worried him, he tried to answer the question as normally as possible, but it was hard when he was trying to not draw attention to anything. Sitting in his favorite chair he tried to hide the pain as he sat back and tried to relax as Blaise sat beside him.
Blaise grinned as he spoke of their travels and everything that they had seen and done, he knew what they wanted to hear and he knew what to say at the moment to get them to back off a little and not look too much into Draco’s behavior.
Harry watched the two and he knew that something was not right, Draco was not his usual self; he was withdrawn and was not participating in the conversation unless something was directed at him. He hoped that Draco was just tired from the travels, he knew how that was. When he had come home, he had been exhausted and had wanted nothing but sleep. He had though stayed up and talked with his parents and had participated in the conversation they had over tea and afters about their honeymoon. Tipsy popped in at that moment and he turned, “yes?”
Tipsy bowed, “sorry to disturb Master but master’s mate is home and has asked for you Master.” She squeaked looking worried that she was disturbing his reunion with Draco, seeing her Master smile though she relaxed.
“Thank you, tell him I’ll be right there,” Harry stood, “if you will excuse me, I best go see what is going on with my bond-mate.” He stood and nodded to his parents and winked at Draco. “We still need to complete our last potions assignment,” he reminded him with a grin.
“I know, we are almost done, the last part is the worst, I wonder how many cauldrons we will blow up?” Draco actually smirked as he contemplated his question. Seeing his brother smirk back at him he watched him a moment, “see you at supper.”
Harry nodded before he headed out to his rooms; he knew that if Tom was asking for him that there was something going on. He hoped that it was nothing to serious; he was tired of the drama and problems. Entering his rooms, he froze seeing his mate with a bad burn and cut on his side, “Tom? What happened?” he asked moving to him now worried.
“Attacked coming home from the Ministry, Aurrors are on the case, but I wanted to tell you personally, that’s why I asked for you. I have a feeling I need a Healer.” He grumbled under his breath, as he gently peeled his shirt off, he hated Healers and their meddlesome ways.
“What about Father Severus? He’s as good as any Healer I know,” Harry compromised helping Tom to sit down. Looking the cut over he was worried at how deep it was, “it’s deep, we need Severus or a Healer.” He shook his head calling for his elf to bring water and supplies that they would need to clean up the wound. Setting the rag aside he stood, “I’m going to get Father,” he said softly before heading back to the parlor. Peeking in he sighed softly he hated pulling Severus from Draco, “Father Severus? Can I talk to you a moment?” he asked not wanting to ruin Draco’s home coming but he need help. Seeing the worry on his parents’ faces’ he was glad that Severus excused himself and made his way to him, “It’s Tom, he’s been hurt. The burn is bad, and the cut is too deep for me to fix,” he admitted softly.
“Alright, come on.” Severus nodded calling for his elf to bring certain potions and supplies to the bedroom as they made their way back to Harry’s rooms. “Did he say what happened?” he asked, “or what spells hit him?”
“He just said that he was attacked while leaving the Ministry,” Harry replied as they stepped back into his rooms. Looking over to where he had left his bond-mate he could see in his eyes that he was in more pain that he would ever admit to. Moving to him he called for a pain reliever and tea. “I hate seeing you hurt all because of the idiots out there that believe the ramblings of Dumbledore!” he muttered.
“It’ll be alright, I should have been more careful. I usually am, but today I let my mind get distracted. I knew Draco was coming home and I was thinking about getting here.” Tom winced as Severus inspected the wound and began healing what he knew he could heal and apply potions to what was left. Hissing he closed his eyes, “that hurt like hell Severus,” he muttered his teeth clenched in pain.
“I’m sorry, I should have warned you, I just didn’t want you flinching away and making it worse.” Severus smirked, sometimes it was best to beg forgiveness then ask permission. “This is going to take time to heal, and I would recommend changing this twice a day; apply this when you change the coverings.” He advised setting the potion on the table beside him.
“Thank you, I’m sorry to pull you from Draco’s home coming. How is he?” he asked looking to Harry than Severus. He could see in his young lover’s eyes that there was something wrong and that he was very worried.
“He’s quite and acting sore, but maybe they walked more than planned, until Draco opens up to us and tells us what is going on we are just having to assume things.” Severus admitted softly hoping that maybe if he suggested that they too thought something was wrong Harry would open up to them.
“It could be the fact that he is not use to nocturnal activities as well but again that is worrisome if Blaise was that rough with him,” Tom muttered looking concerned. Thinking about Draco and knowing that the lad was a virgin he hoped that Blaise had not been that rough with him. He did not want Draco to associate sex with being painful; he knew that it could break Draco.
“Or didn’t offer him any potions to ease the discomfort like you did for me until I was used to it,” Harry said softly looking from Tom to the window; he didn’t want his Father to see the fear and pain in his eyes.
“I think we need to keep an eye on this Severus.” Tom hinted wanting him to know that he needed to trust his instincts where Draco was concerned.
Severus stood and put a hand on Harry’s shoulder, “I wish you’d talk to us and tell us what you know.” He encouraged, “we can’t fix what we don’t know is broken” he said hoping to coax it out of him. “It is also clear that something is eating at you.”
Harry sighed, his shoulders dropping, before he finally told his Father what he knew of Blaise and why he was weary of him. “I tried to tell Draco once and it upset him so bad that he wouldn’t talk to me for three weeks, so, I gave up. Draco has tunnel vision. He is fixated on Blaise and all we can do is hope that Blaise has gotten this out of his system, I just pray that the friend was lying but why would he lie about something like that?”
Severus knew what young lad Harry was talking about; he had been the one to call the boy’s parents to tell them their son was critically injured. The young lad refused to tell them what had happened or who had hurt him. They had tried to coax it out of him, but nothing had worked. His dorm had been locked down and everyone interviewed but because of the age rule and restrictions they couldn’t use Veruiatsum on any of them without parent approval and only a handful of parents allowed it. The Healers has also determined that the person behind the attack had used a Dark Spell to clear the DNA, and semen from the young boy, that he led Severus to believe it had been an older student but had no proof. The investigation had stalled, until the lad would talk about what happened they had nothing to go on, it was frustrating. “Ok, now that I know this, we will be setting tail on him. I know you; I know you help with the contract that Draco drafted. Did you include this in there?” he asked.
Harry sighed, “I tried to outwardly place it in there; Draco wouldn’t let me. So, the way it is worded is that Draco has to be the one to say he is being abused and present evidence but if Blaise commits adultery that will dissolve the bonding immediately along with abusing any child they have, and Draco retains everything that is his and half of Blaise’s estate.” Harry sighed softly, “I’m sorry I didn’t say anything sooner I didn’t know how to without sounding like a child that was angry. I….”
Severus stopped him with a hand to his lips, “It’s alright son, I understand. Sometimes it is very hard to say what we want to without sounding whiny or like an overgrown brat. I also understand that you are protecting Draco from the other side of this fence. The side where you don’t want him to be angry and upset with family because then he won’t come to us if or when something goes wrong.” Severus nodded and took a deep breath, “this also explains why you have been so withdrawn from us as well, you didn’t want us to see the fear and worry that you are feeling. You didn’t want us to start prying, I again understand, now that it is out, we can watch for it,” he promised.
Harry felt better and he was thankful that Tom had been able to convey that something was wrong and that had given him the courage to tell his father, “Thank you.” He took a deep breath as Tipsy popped in to tell them that supper was ready, and that the family was heading to the dining room.
“Now, why don’t you two get cleaned up and I’ll meet you in the dining room for supper,” Severus encouraged as he stood looking a little worried, but he knew how to handle this issue and he knew that he had to have the house elves watch Draco and Blaise. Seeing the nodded he headed out the door. Heading down the hall he knew that if Harry had come forward with the accusations before the wedding Draco would have run off with Blaise. Harry was right Draco did have tunnel vision but why didn’t any of them realize what was going on. He stopped a moment when he realized that they wouldn’t, Blaise was obviously a good hand at this and a person like Blaise would know how to hide it. Shaking his head, he made his way to the dining room. “Give Harry and Tom a few more moments, they are on the way.” He grinned as he moved to his seat. Sitting beside Lucius and James he silently signaled his lovers that they needed to talk and that it was a serious matter.
Draco forced a smile as the house elves started to serve the drinks and set the first course as Harry and Tom entered the dining room. He watched as Harry sat in his normal seat with Tom beside him and saw the worry in Harry’s eye directed at him. He shook his head ever so slightly telling his brother that he was fine, but in reality, he knew he wasn’t. He wouldn’t risk losing his families approval though and he wouldn’t risk them turn their backs on him. “Looks good, I think the elves went all out tonight.”
“They did when I got home to remember?’ Harry smirked as he thought back to when they had arrived home and to the dinner the elves prepared. “I think they might have even made black forest for dessert.” He knew that it was Draco’s favorite dessert, and he could see the grin starting to spread on his brother’s face, but it quickly faded.
“Hopefully I’ll be up for afters.” Draco said softly realizing that he was in for trouble again as Blaise squeezed his upper thigh in warning. He had already been lectured about what he was expected to eat and not eat and he was told flat out that he was not to gain too much weight. He thought that he was fine; all his Healers had told him he was healthy and a good weight, but it was clear that Blaise didn’t think so.
“I can always have the elves send it up to your rooms for later.” Lucius saw the grin fade and he saw the slight frown on Blaise’s face and he knew something was not right; he had to speak to Draco alone. As supper progressed, he watched as Draco didn’t finish any course though it was clear he wanted more and that he was forcing himself to push the plate away before he was even half done. Glancing to Severus and James he knew they were seeing it as well and that they were worried. As talk turned again, he called for afters to be brought to the study and Draco’s rooms as he stood. “Draco? I need to talk to you a moment before you retire, it’s about your investment.”
“Of course, Father, is that going well?” Draco stood hoping that everything was alright and that he wasn’t going to have to pull out of the business, “I’ll be up in one moment.” He promised Blaise softly before kissing him and following his Father out the door. Stepping into the study his eyes landed on the slices of cake by the fire and the glass of wine.
“Come, sit by the fire.” Lucius encouraged as he checked the spells around his room, so he would know who was coming and who was ease dropping. Setting by his son he noticed that Draco was not touching the cake and wine and that he had his hands clasped in his lap. “Son, have some cake…” he encouraged but stopped when Draco shook his head. “Why not? You love Black Forest Cake and you hardly ate anything.”
“I just can’t,” Draco whispered not looking up at his Father, “It’s just best that I don’t.” he wanted to tell his Father what was going on but he knew that if Blaise found out there would be hell to pay and that was the last thing he wanted. He also did not want his family to turn from him and Blaise kept on telling him that they would. He didn’t want to believe it but he was so confused that he figured it was best to just stay silent.
Lucius was now worried, “Draco what is going on? Is he hurting you?” he decided that it was best to just outright ask but seeing the fear in his sons eyes he knew something was seriously wrong.
“Please Father, I’m just tired and need sleep. What’s going on with the investment?” he asked hoping to steer the conversation away from Blaise. Seeing the look his Father gave him he knew that he had not been called into the study for the investment that he had made. “It’s really nothing; I had a large lunch and snacked on the way home. I do appreciate everything that you did for us it was a great trip.” He sighed, “can’t wait to go back and visit.” Looking out the window he wondered if that would even happen, Blaise had made it clear on the way home that this was going to be the only trip they ever took and that once schooling was done and over with, he was not going to be leaving the Manor without him. He didn’t realize that he had started to cry until he felt the tears on his cheeks. Taking a shaky breath, he quickly wiped them away, “Blaise and I are planning to start having kids soon, he wants to start early. That way we have an heir, almost need three boys, one for his name, and two for me.” He grinned, “unless Harry beats me to that.”
Lucius sat beside his son and heir and took his hands in his, “Draco, I don’t know what has happened over these past two weeks, but I am worried about you. When you left you were smiling and happy, everything seemed great. Seeing you today I fear that you are being hurt and prevented from talking to me and that worries me.” He admitted softly knowing that he had to be honest with Draco and that he could not hide how he was feeling about the situation. “I don’t like seeing you like this; I also saw you flinch when you hugged your Fathers and you flinched hugging me.”
Draco shook his head, “It’s nothing, I’m just a little sun burnt, I forgot to put the potion on that Father Severus brews for me so I don’t burn to badly and by the time we were done walking and swimming it was just too late.” He temporized hoping that the subject would be dropped he knew that Blaise was going to grill him when he got back to the rooms about why Lucius wanted him alone. He didn’t try to pull his hands away but he wished his Father would let the subject close.
Lucius didn’t believe what his son was telling him but he knew that he couldn’t push too hard therefore he did the only thing he could think of, “Draco I want to swear something to you. No matter what you can always come to me. I will never turn you away, I will never think less of you and I will never turn my back on you. You and Harry are my boys and I don’t want to see you hurt.”
Draco could feel the magic of what his Father was swearing to and he nodded, “Thank you Father, I best go shower and get some sleep. Tomorrow I know Harry will want to work on the Potions project.” He stood and leaned over to gently hug his Father, “Love you,” he whispered before he slipped out confused and not certain what to do.
Lucius watched him go feeling as if his world was coming down around him and feeling as if he had failed as a parent. Reaching for his wine he wondered what he could do to get his son to open up and then another part of him thought that maybe it was just the stress of the trip. One thing he was certain on, he was going to be watching the two like a cat on a mouse hole. Picking up his wine as Severus and James entered the room, he whispered “I have a bad feeling about things; I don’t like what I am seeing it.”
“We know,” Severus sat in front of Lucius and James before he told them what Harry had told him. He could see the anger in Lucius’ eyes and reached out to him, “don’t be angry with Harry, he was not sure how to tell us and he was afraid of losing Draco’s trust.”
“I’m not angry with him, I could never be angry with my boys but I’m angry that we didn’t see this, that we might have let our baby marry an abusive man.” Lucius said setting his wine aside. He looked to Severus and James, “what do we do?”
“We set tails on them, I have already told Draco’s elf that she is to report all healing potions used and report anything that seemed strange. You know our elves are protective of Draco and they have all been instructed to go back to protecting Draco and to stop anything that they see.” He sighed softly, “We have to tread carefully because Blaise may convince him that we won’t help him or that we might outcast him. Right now, we have to assume that everything is alright and not push to far too soon. It’s a dangerous line but we will be there for him and always tell him this.”
“Maybe Harry can help get Dray to open up as well; we all know that Draco will talk to Harry before he opens to us.” James said nodded handing Lucius a plate with a slice of cake. “It’s hard sitting back and waiting but we can do this, for Harry and Draco we can do this and we will watch everything that goes on here and at school. This also explains Harry secluding himself; he was worried we’d pry it out of him and then tell him he’s being stupid. I guess we need to be as honest with Harry as we can be and tell him that we are worried too. I think we should talk to him tomorrow and let him know.”
Lucius and Severus nodded as they thought about what lay ahead, they knew that things would either work out or they wouldn’t. All they could do was take it one day at a time and pray that their son would come to them before it was too late.
Pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Harry looked up as his study door opened and he smiled at Draco only to notice Blaise was not far behind him. “Morning,” he grinned as he stood and gathered his papers, “you ready to get started or do you want to wait?” he asked watching Blaise more than Draco at the moment.
Draco groaned, “Let’s get this done and over with that way Father Severus won’t hound us all year about it. You know how he gets!” he laughed softly as he followed him out to the basement potions lab. Reaching for the apron that hung by the door he handed Harry his part of the project. “All right I’ll get the supplies and pray we don’t blow up the Manor to badly.”
“Ahh you are no fun!” Harry objected as Blaise found a seat by the fire to sit and watch them, it was clear to Harry that he didn’t want Draco alone with any of them and that pissed him off. Setting the papers on the table Harry slipped on his apron and looked over the notes and recipe that they had come up with. He knew that this was dangerous; just as spell creation, any experimental potion could blow up and kill them. “Dray I think we have something wrong here,” he muttered after a moment.
Draco moved to him, “What?” he asked softly reading over Harry’s shoulder then he saw it, “we need to reverse those two ingredients, we have to neutralize this one first…” he nodded as Harry made the notations, “well, why don’t we try it the way we have it, then if it don’t work then we switch?”
Harry thought about it a moment then nodded, “this is the testing part anyway.” He nodded as he continued to make the notations of what might need to be done.
“Good catch, though.” Setting everything on the table he began to organize everything in the order that they would be used. Sitting across from Harry he glanced up at Blaise and then back down when he saw the smirk on his face.
Watching Draco a moment Harry realized that he needed a way to communicated with Draco without Blaise realizing it or getting his hands on anything. Starting the base of the potion he spoke quietly about the project and about what the next step that they wanted to take was hoping to get Draco to talk but he just nodded or handed him the next ingredient they were using.
“What do you think of the Homescomb investment?” Draco asked after a few moments of silence. He continued to dice the last of the ingredients as he watched Harry and watched what he was adding.
“I’m not taking it; the demands are so outlandish that it’s ridiculous. He wants eighty nine percent of weekly profits; he wants to have a hand in every home visit that we make and every protection spell that is casted, every potion made and sold…there is just no way. I would not make any money.” Harry shook his head thinking about it, “I didn’t start the business to lose money. I started it to provide home protection to those that can’t do these spells.”
“You are damn good at it too. You were always good at Defense, are you starting the classes too?” he asked knowing that Harry had planned to add the Defense classes as part of the business.
“Yes, that will be starting after graduation that way I can participate in training the teachers and I plan on taking on a few of the classes too and teach them myself.” Harry added the next ingredient before making the notes on the page in front of him.
Draco nodded, “I think we have done good getting the business going and I look forward to continuing brewing the potions for it. I am scheduled to take my Mastery this summer, thanks to Father apprenticing me early.”
“No reason for you and me not to be apprenticed early with the grades we have.” Harry muttered as he waited a moment, he watched the potion with a frown. “That doesn’t look right…” he muttered.
Draco turned his attention back to the potion and shook his head, “It’s not…it’s not supposed to be tar…” he grumbled as they stopped and bottled the potion at that point, labeled it as a fail and started again after making several notes about what could have cause the reaction. “I guess try stirring the other way for ten this time.” He muttered not seeing what else could have caused it.
Harry nodded as they started again hoping that Blaise would get tired of watching them and go find something to do. He got his wish after three hours and ten more failed attempts, a house elf popped in to tell Blaise that he had a guest in the parlor. He watched as Blaise moved to Draco and muttered to him before he left. Waiting a moment to make certain that Blaise was gone Harry cast a strong privacy spell before turning to his brother, “are you alright?” he asked softly hoping that Draco would tell him if anything was wrong.
Draco looked around a moment then back to Harry, “I guess, it’s not what I had pictured really, but I guess all married couples have issues that they have to work on,” he said as he continued on the potion.
“Yes, but not you should not have to look to Blaise for permission to speak before talking. I can also tell that he is controlling your food, you always finish you meal and have at least two slices of Black Forest cake and Mugsey told me that you didn’t eat what was taken to your rooms.” He admitted, “I’m worried.”
“I know brother but we just have to get used to each other and get used to working together. He does want things a certain way but I’ll get used to it.” Draco temporized hoping that he was right and that things would get better.
“Draco? Please promise me that the moment it gets bad you will come to me or our Fathers.” Harry did not like what he was hearing and he did not like the fact that Draco was admitting that Blaise was controlling things to this level. He especially did not like Blaise controlling Draco’s food intake, he was prone to illness and not eating was going to weaken his immune system again.
Draco hesitated, weren’t things already bad? Every night he was left bruised and battered unable to barley move. He was not allowed full meals and he was becoming afraid of his husband. “I promise,” he whispered he wanted this to work; he wanted Blaise to love him and have a family with him. He knew that it had to get better and that Blaise was going to become the man that he was when they had been dating. He missed those days; the days were he would come home to find roses in his rooms and small gifts. The days were they spent hours by the pool just talking, he knew that Blaise could be that man again and he wanted to be the one to draw it out. Looking at the potion he grinned, “Look at that…”
“That looks good, now according to the old method we let it set on low for two weeks, stirring once a day.” Harry read that part out loud then pondered a moment before continuing, “I think we should leave it, see how it goes.” He cast the protection charms over the cauldron before standing slowly to work the knots out of his back. “I guess we keep a log of when we stir it that way, we each know.”
“Sounds good and let’s spell the door,” Draco added not wanting anything to happen to their potion when it looked like they were finally on the right path with it. Hearing the door open he turned expecting to see Blaise but smiled when Severus stepped into the room. “Come see Father.”
Severus stepped further into the room and moved to where they were working to their project, “that looks right so far.” He nodded pleased that they seemed to be on the right path after spotting the failed bottles off to the side. “I came down to see if you two are going to break for lunch?”
“We should I am starving.” Harry nodded as he cast the protection charms that the needed and then turned to Draco. “Come on Dray lets go see what’s on the menu.” He encouraged but realized that something was wrong, Draco had shaken his head.
“I’m going to meet Blaise for lunch in our rooms; he wants to talk about some investments.” He temporized hoping that they would believe him and that they were not going to dig further.
“Oh, well then, I will have the house elves send lunch up, we’ll see you later.” Severus knew by watching Draco that this was not a chat he was looking forward to and that Blaise was controlling more than they had originally thought. Waiting until Draco was out of the room he turned to Harry. “Any luck?”
Harry leaned against the table, “not much, Blaise was here most of the time watching him and when Blaise left, he muttered something to Dray that made him go silent. Draco said that Blaise likes things a certain way and that he just needs to get used to it but I don’t like it!” Harry snarled, “Draco always finishes his meals and never turns away that cake.”
“I know, Lucius couldn’t get far last night with him, so we watch and wait for the public slip up.” Severus knew that it was not going to be easy for Harry and that Harry would rather just deal with the issue now, but they needed hard proof. Seeing his sons’ eyes go dark he placed a hand on his shoulder, “it will be alright, we will get this sorted and if things are not well for Draco, then we will deal with it appropriately.”
“I know; it just angers me that we have to wait for something major to happen before we can do anything, I don’t want him permanently hurt.” Harry confessed as they headed out the door and down to the dining room. Seeing his bond mate waiting for him he smiled slightly.
“I know son,” Severus whispered as they joined the others hearing Lucius ask where Draco was, he took a deep breath, “having lunch in his rooms with Blaise.” He answered softly, “something about Blaise wanting to discuss investments.”
“That’s a bunch of bull, Blaise doesn’t know anything about investing or running business; his mother told me.” James grumbled, “I spoke to her last night before she left and asked her about the business Blaise had us convinced, he owned. He doesn’t own any business; he fabricated his name on the papers that he showed us.”
“So, he lied to us to get us to agree to the bonding.” Lucius looked at his mate clearly pissed off with the news. “He knew that I would not allow the bonding if he couldn’t provide for Dray.”
“Yes, the papers are for a business run by a Mr. Glandel Walton, out of the United States, he specializes in exporting and importing magical artifacts between the United States and the United Kingdom.” James grumbled clearly unhappy with the newest development, “he’s a nice man, we talked for some time this morning about what he does and the items he has seen. So now I wonder if Blaise will start using Draco’s money to try and “fund” a business because according to Blaise’ Mum he does not have much in the way of money. She stated to me that she thought Blaise had told us and that he convinced her that we were alright with him not having much to his name. I told her that I was just curious and that it didn’t matter.” James sighed as he slowly ate his lunch.
“We still have control of Draco’s money; that does not change until they are graduated so Draco will have to come to us if Blaise wants to do start an investment or business of large proportions. It’s then we can confront him,” Severus nodded.
Harry ate in silence wondering what in the world they were going to do and why they just foolishly trusted Blaise’ word. Why hadn’t they checked the papers and checked that they were legitimate? Were they all blind to what was going on? He didn’t like that thought and he didn’t want to think about them not seeing the truth when it was right in front of them. “I don’t like this,” he muttered after a moment, “and it’s my damned fault, I should have spoken up sooner!” he snarled angry with himself more than anything.
“No Harry, this is not your fault, we should have checked into this before now and we should have dug deeper into things. Besides as Severus told you if you had brought these allegations up Draco might have turned on you or turned on us and then he would feel as if he had no one to go to if things get bad.” Lucius said trying to help Harry feel better about the situation. “I’m not upset with you son; I know what it’s like being in your shoes and I would have done the same.”
Harry fell silent as he ate, his mind on his brother and hoping that everything was alright and that maybe they were just looking to hard into things.
Ppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp
Draco stepped into his rooms and peeled off his robes that he wore when working with potions. Hanging them by the door he moved to the bathroom to clean up, running some cool water he splashed his face to relieve the stinging of tears. Closing his eyes, he reached for the towel that was hanging by the sink. Patting his face dry he looked up as Blaise entered the bathroom, “I didn’t hear you come in.” Draco said softly rolling his shoulders to try and ease the knots out.
Blaise smiled sweetly at Draco, “how did the potion go?” he asked wanting to know more about what he said to Harry than the experiment that they were working on.
“Good, ten failed attempts but we got it to the end stage…we think.” Draco sighed feeling very drained and tired as he stood to move out of the room and to the table where lunch was set up. He gasped when Blaise roughly grabbed his arm.
“What did you say to him?” Blaise suddenly demanded looking irate that Draco had not offered the conversation up freely.
“Nothing, I swear! All we talked about was the potion nothing else!” Draco whispered looking at Blaise thorough frightened eyes, “Blaise please you’re hurting me.” He tried to pull away but he was held tightly.
“You belong to me now! No one will help you; they gave you to me because they didn’t want to deal with you anymore.” He whispered into his ear before shoving him away, “you mean nothing to them Draco.” He snarled as he moved to sit across from him and eat lunch. Watching Draco, he grinned to see that he wasn’t taking much food and that his head was bowed, he was winning.
Draco took a deep breath and tried not to let the words sink in, he knew that it couldn’t be true; he knew his family loved him. Wasn’t that why they were asking questions? Wasn’t that why Harry did the things he did to protect him? Feeling the depression sweep over him he nibbled on his lunch but did not finish it. He knew that his elves would not report anything, Blaise had already ordered them not and that whatever happened in his rooms was to stay private. Pushing the plate away he went to stand but stopped when he felt Blaise grabbed his hand.
Blaise could see the wavering in his eyes and smiled softly, “I love you baby, that’s why I act this. I don’t want to lose you.” He leaned over and kissed him tenderly, “I want to take care of you now. Here, I got you something…” he pulled out a small box from his pocked and handed it to him.
Draco slowly opened the box and gasped at the bracelet that was inside, “it’s beautiful.” He whispered looking a little leery as he took it out, seeing the intricate details of the braiding the diamonds throughout the band he looked up at Blaise, “thank you.”
Blaise smiled and reached to help him put it on, “it looks good on you; this will remind you that I love you.” He leaned over and kissed him. “Everything is fine.” he promised, “I’ll try to get along better with Harry; I know your brother means a lot to you.” He grinned figuring that if he made the effort it would settle Draco down a little more. All he needed was time, time to knock him up and then he would make certain that he did not survive the birth, that way all the money and lands would go to him and he would be free. He may not have much to his name but one thing he did have was brains and he knew how to manipulate and twist things to get what he wanted.
Draco smiled softly, “thank you; that would mean a lot to me if you and Harry got along.” He admitted softly as the house elf popped in to clean up, he stood and moved to the window, “when do you want to try for a baby? Harry told me they are shooting to be expecting by Christmas.”
Blaise stood and moved to stand behind him, “the earlier the better.” He said seemingly happy with the idea of being a Father, “maybe we can get our hands on the potion and start trying tonight,” he suggested kissing Draco’s neck. Running his hands down Draco’s body, he felt him shiver and he grinned “Love you.” He whispered knowing that Draco was slowly caving to him and that things were going the way he wanted. All he had to do at the moment was bide his time and everything would turn out as he planned.
