“It’s a steep price,” Draco said after they had wandered far enough away from headquarters to feel comfortable.
“I hate my fame,” Hermione murmured, her eyes roaming over the grounds where various dragons blew fire over their nests.
“I hate my name,” Draco said. “Makes us even… and subject to extortion apparently.”
“It isn’t like it isn’t reasonable,” she said quietly.
“But it’s personal,” Draco said quietly. “Does your side still hurt?”
Hermione sighed and opened her robe, letting Snape flutter out. “Yes it still hurts.”
Snape transformed back, pulling his hood low over his face as his eyes flared indigo. “You are mine.”
“I never said I wasn’t,” Hermione hissed. “In fact, I fully admitted that I was a slave!”
“You should not have done that,” Snape admonished, watching her face fall. “But I believe my overreaction was partly to blame. I’ll apologize later… but you are mine and you will never belong to another.”
“Never?” Draco asked quietly.
Snape’s jaw tightened. “Do you wish to go?”
“No,” Draco said quickly. “But I hate the word never.”
Snape hummed. “Yes, a favorite of your father’s. If at any time you think this arrangement isn’t working for you, we’ll discuss it. I might not allow you to leave, but we can talk. But we’re not here to discuss the potential for you to leave me. What do you think of Lancaster’s demands?”
“There not undoable,” Draco said. “Granger has a… special… relationship with Lovegood. I’m sure she could get an article in no time.”
Hermione rolled her eyes. “Luna would do it before I fucked her, Malfoy. That’s what friends do. As for the Prophet, well, let’s just say that it will be easy to work out the bugs.”
Draco chuckled. “As far as getting legislations passed, that’s a bit trickier. Still, I helped keep several of the members of the screening committee’s children alive at Hogwarts last year and I haven’t called in any favors for it yet.”
“So you believe you can give them their demands?” Severus asked quietly.
They nodded. “It’ll take a few weeks,” Hermione admitted. “I mean, the Quibbler can print in the next issue or two but it’ll take some time to capture a certain cockroach again.”
“And legislations take months of committees,” Draco said thoughtfully. “I’ll have to pull strings at each one. I guess we need to ask for a timeframe. The kinds of things he’s asking for can’t be done overnight.”
“And I don’t think I could ask Harry to go out on a limb like that ever,” Hermione said sadly. “He’s had enough cameras and press for a lifetime.”
Snape smirked. “But permanent access speaks to you, doesn’t it?”
She blushed and looked away. “Why wouldn’t it?”
Snape tapped his finger to his lips, thinking for a while. “If you can get Lancaster to give you a reasonable timeframe, I believe you can fulfill your end of the bargain. Still, I find it odd that he’d take a few play toys in place of two bargains that could potentially increase his profits tenfold.”
“It sounds too good to be true,” Draco said quietly. “And he did say slaves at first.”
Snape’s eyes glowed indigo. “He’s planning on taking you from me and whoring you out.”
“That’s not possible,” Hermione whispered. “The slave pact is unbreakable.”
“Unless the person who enters into a magical vow has a Master that agrees to the terms,” Snape said quietly.
“I don’t want another Master,” Draco growled.
Snape stared at him for a long time, his eyes taking in Draco’s features in the firelight. “Then you had best hope that you can deliver exactly what Lancaster is expecting should you enter into this agreement.”
“You approve?” Hermione squeaked.
Snape cut his eyes to her, studying her with the same piercing stare. “I have no wish to lose either one of you… but my sire was adamant that slaves needed to be trusted completely. You both know that I have been sorely lacking in this quality so far. For most of my life actually. This one deal could seal our futures, securing funding for startup and enough cash flow to avoid such risky bargains in the future. Therefore, I will leave this decision entirely up to you two. If you believe you can meet the demands without having to rely on the alternative… I will give you my permission to take the vows.”
Hermione felt the familiar rush of fear and adrenaline pulse through her veins at the thought of being given another choice. It was the same feeling she had every time she, Harry, and Ron had relocated to yet another area or planned a break in during the war. Could they both pull this off? It was highly likely. They only had a few hours to settle it but if they could get a reasonable timeframe, it was doable. If they couldn’t? A cold shiver ran down her back. Two prostitutes of their fame and caliber would turn a very nice profit. She wasn’t daft. She knew that had been Lancaster’s intentions when he said slaves. But was it worth it?
“It’s worth it,” Draco said quietly after several minutes of silence. His eyes were glued to the horizon, not focusing on any particular thing. “Even if we fail and become some farce of a paid escort, we’ll have what we need for a future.”
“But slaves are forever,” Hermione said softly.
Draco’s eyes glinted in the firelight. “No. We won’t agree to forever. We’ll agree until the set amount is paid. But it is still worth it. And we won’t fail in the first place.”
“You’re sure?” Hermione asked.
Draco smirked and finally turned his gaze to her. His eyes were full of life and challenge. “Granger, when have you ever failed in your entire life?”
She opened her mouth and then closed it, trying to think of something huge that she’d messed up on. She was having a hard time since she was such a perfectionist. Sure, things had gone wrong despite her plans, but those were variables and hardly within her control. Then it came to her.
“I botched the polyjuice potion in second year and turned into a cat.”
Snape snorted, drawing their attention again. “You merely mistook cat hair for human, uncommon but not unheard of. Face is pet, you’ve never failed at anything you put your mind to.”
“I have,” Draco said, paling a bit.
“I didn’t recall you being asked to murder an innocent man,” Snape drawled soothingly. “And you did fulfil one of the requirements, an impossible task for someone else… except possibly Hermione. I rather think the world should fear you both if you were to work together. Imagine what you could accomplish…”
“I have some contacts at the newspaper as well,” Draco said thoughtfully. “Between the both of us, we can pull of an article or two.”
“And I’ve met several influential people since the war who have expressed interest in backing any cause the brightest witch of the age deems worthy,” Hermione said, her mind spinning so quickly it was almost hard to think.
“With the exception of the plight of house elves,” Draco said with a smirk.
Her eyes flickered with anger. “They can still be treated a right sight better than they are now.”
“Agreed,” Draco said, still smirking. “But it’s still a risk.”
Hermione took a deep breath and blew it out, thinking about how horrible it would be to have to spread her legs for money. Still… one must make sacrifices to get the things they wanted. She’d given a blowjob to a stranger just to get into a club with drugs for fucks sakes. She could do this. She nodded.
“I’m in.”
Draco bowed his head. “Me too.”
Snape sighed and pulled them into his chest by their arms. “Then I suppose I give you my blessings, not because I want to, but because I trust you both. I have faith in you two. But a word of caution. Deliberate every nuance of the agreement and take your vows carefully. Make Lancaster recite them first.”
Draco snorted. “What do you take me for? A Hufflepuff?”
“What’s wrong with Hufflepuffs?” Hermione snapped.
“Too trusting,” Draco said, sneering in disgust. “As are several Gryffindors I know. First rule of being a Slytherin, keep your friends close… to make sure you can keep an eye on them.”
“Untrusting lot,” Hermione grumbled, burying her nose into Snape’s chest and inhaling his smokey scent.
“It kept me alive until the end,” Snape said. “And if I had wanted to live longer, I would have taken precautions before I entered that shack.”
“Did Ferdinand ever say why he brought you back?” Hermione asked cautiously.
Snape sighed. “He said I deserved another chance, even if I didn’t want it. If this all works out correctly, I might have to thank him for it.”
“How dreadful,” Draco drawled.
Snape snorted and then kissed them on the forehead in turn. “Go on. Make your negotiations.”

“Are you sure you’re doing the right thing?”
Hermione rolled her eyes as she trudged after Charlie in the early hours of the morning with Draco hot on their heels. “For the last time, Charlie, yes.”
Charlie stopped abruptly, waving his wand to open an iron gate. He ushered them through before following them and securing the gate once more. He shook his head and started to walk away from the fence, his head moving back and forth to scan the horizon.
“I just… I don’t want to see you become some cheap whore, Hermione.” Draco sniffed. “Believe it or not, Malfoy, I don’t want to see you in that position either. I mean, you’re both gorgeous, don’t get me wrong. And I wouldn’t mind having a go myself, but that’s a high price to pay for anyone. Especially two young kids with their whole lives ahead of them.”
“We’re hardly young kids anymore,” Draco admonished. “We’ve seen horrors no person should see. We’ve aged way beyond our years.”
Charlie sighed and nodded. “I suppose you have. I just hope you can pull this off. Contract vows are nothing to sneeze at, you know.”
“We’ve got two months for two news stories,” Hermione said. “That’s more than reasonable.”
“And legislation will take six months,” Draco said. “Again reasonable.”
“And risky,” Charlie said, shaking his head. “Besides, you’re awful confident that you’re going to even make it to repayment. Dragons aren’t just some hobby that you can pick up one day. It takes years to learn their personalities, their quirks, tricks to get around them.”
“Then show us some and make sure we get to the repayment part,” Hermione said softly.
Charlie spun and raised an eyebrow. “That wasn’t part of the bargain.”
“Slytherin,” Draco said with a touch of amusement.
Charlie smirked. “I made a deal with the hat.”
“Maybe we can cut a deal of our own,” Hermione said, assessing Charlie with a knowing smile. “You said you wanted a go.”
Charlie crossed his arms and took a step back to assess them. “I’m listening.”
Draco stepped out and to the side, cautiously bringing a finger up to the shorter man’s shoulder and running it down his arm. “Tell us about the quirks of each mother and you can have us. Not completely mind you. That is for our Master. But we’re pretty good with our hands.”
“And our mouths,” Hermione added, sashaying up to Charlie with as much sex appeal as she could. She felt Snape scramble down her robes and out the hem, flapping away a few feet. Charlie never indicated he’d seen it.
“Payment first,” Charlie breathed, shuddering as Draco drew his finger back up his arm and then down his spine.
“How about we go at the same time,” Draco purred, stepping closer and letting his breath move Charlie’s hair. “You start divulging, we’ll start touching.”
Charlie shivered. “You two are going to be the death of me.”
Hermione hummed and ran a hand down his chest, feeling the muscles underneath. “Hope not. I have a feeling we’ll be doing business for many years to come.”
Charlie stifled a whimper. “What do you want to know?”
“Anything you can tell us,” Draco whispered, his lips a hair’s breadth from Charlie’s ear. “We want to know what to avoid and anything that will make our jobs easier and protect them from harm.”
Charlie’s eyes flickered closed. “Gods, touch me and I’ll scribe a bloody book.”
“That’s what we were hoping you’d say,” Hermione said, flicking her fingers over Charlie’s cloth covered nipples.
She caught Draco’s eye and winked. This was going to be fun.
AN: Who's the queen of cliffhangers? :D I've devoured all 6 Vampire Academy books this week trying to get my head back in the writing game. It's working, just not the way I'd like. So, updates might be a little further apart. *puppy dog eyes* As always, thanks to everyone who reviewed. My muse eats them with some fava beans and a nice chianti. She's kind of creepy. Anyway, keep them coming and let me know how I'm doing. Until next time, love you guys!
