Falling into Destiny
Chapter Twenty
It hadn't been hard to get away from Draco at the party. All you had to do was give your closing best wishes to the happy couple before making up some sort of familial excuse. Seeing as there weren't many who were quite aware of which line of Blacks that you'd come from, and survived unlike a majority of them, it wasn't that hard. Neither was disapparting back to the gates of the mansion. What was tricky was keeping to yourself for the night.
It wasn't like you were the most social of people. It was just that the house seemed to be filled with so much tension that it was at burst capacity. You had been avoiding family meals and gatherings ever since returning for the holiday. Voldemort might have been an honored guest of the Malfoys but damned if he didn't make everything harder. Other than the fact that the bastard had stolen your bedroom for his stay, he seemed to have this doom and gloom cloak with him that infected the spirit of the house. The Malfoy manor was never what you would call cheery but he made it worse just by being there.
The fact that Draco kept trying to get you to open up your latest bedroom door with various threats didn't help matters either. You stayed wrapped up in a blanket on the bed as you did your best to ignore him. He thankfully didn't bust down the door seeing as that would have hit the furnace and possible caused a big accident. Not to mention the fact that you didn't want to see him. It was bad enough that you heard him through the door. He had even been more persistent than you would have thought as he stayed around demanding that you open your door for at least an hour before giving up.
After he had finally given up you were left with your thoughts. There was a lot to think about and none of it was very light hearted or fun. You knew that school would start relatively quickly again. You also knew that when that happened Voldemort would expect you to beguile Harry Potter. It was a cruel task in the best of situations. You were not in the best of situations. Not only did you have to worry over Blaise's actions while at school but now there was Malfoy to deal with. After being relatively disconnected with him for five years while at school, you were used to his hands off approach. When the whole issue with Blaise had started you had even gone to him to see if he could help, you might not have known how that would happen but you had asked for his help. He hadn't given it. In fact, Draco had seemed confused and even a bit offended that you had asked. It was true that he had gotten involved after a bit but he had still left you alone for the most part.
It was nothing like what you had dealt with recently. After the first incident under the initial command of Voldemort, Draco had been downright possessive. If he had been kind along with it that might have been better but he wasn't. He wasn't abusive but he had this way of making you feel like shit for something you had no choice in the matter over. It had finally peaked at the wedding.
Whorish appetite.
You buried your head into a pillow as you gripped the other one. The fact that it had hurt so much was probably indicative that it'd been close to the truth. Your desire was getting out of control but to be fair it always had been over the top. It was just that before you'd been able to say no to yourself. You hadn't wanted to kill anyone if you did anything in person. Now you knew that you wouldn't your unconscious self control didn't seem to be as effective anymore. The fact that Draco pointed it out with such derision hurt. You didn't know if that was entirely because the idea itself was hurtful or if it had come from him. Either way it was something you didn't like feeling.
Which only meant that you had a lot to think about as you laid in bed waiting for the sun to rise. Your hips had even begun to ache from how long you stayed glued to the mattress on your side. That was a feat in and of itself. One that you tried not to think too much about. There were a lot more prudent things to contemplate.
Draco sat in one of the oversized chairs in his room. His gaze flickered every time the fire moved as he gazed into the flames. His hands grasped around the book that he was meant to have been reading as he mentally went over many things. None of the things he contemplated were particularly that great. In fact, even the young master Malfoy understood that they were childish and selfish. It was just that he almost didn't care about what people would think of his plans.
The blond haired wizard shifted his his seat as his eyes turned to the book in his hand. It was one of his textbooks that he was supposed to consult to get his winter homework done. Truthfully he had touched very little of it which was not like him. He had more important details to attend to the last few days. Like seeing to it that his wife was properly sated so you didn't let the bloody help put their hands on you.
His jaw clenched as he stood up. He needed something to occupy his mind that was more fascinating than his winter workload. If he was left to amuse himself he might do something unseemly. Like yell at the foolish man who had dared to be in your room. The pain he had given Adam barely seemed appropriate to the size of the insult. A servant thought that it was alright to touch you. It wasn't just the servant either. That bloody tailor had done something. Not to mention the whole situation with Blaise.
His ex-friend was perhaps the worst of them all. He thought you would get an annulment? It was pathetic. Draco could still feel the way that Blaise had looked at him before you and he left Hogwarts; like he was less than him. By what right did a Zambini think that they were better than a Malfoy? Blaise couldn't offer you anywhere near what he could. He couldn't even conceive the ties that his father had or the depth of the coins in their vault. His and his mother's house was like a cottage in comparison to the Malfoy estate. But none of that had seemed to matter because as far as Blaise had been and still was concerned Draco had lost. As the moment rolled through his head again, Draco threw the textbook towards his bed in frustration.
Back at Hogwarts when Blaise had publicly claimed you as his fiancée you had actually seemed to support his assumption as you didn't reject the title. And then to make matters worse, at a wedding you'd been seated with Blaise.
He wanted something else to throw. You might have danced with him at the wedding but the moment you were free, you'd sought out that bastard. Like one of those silly girls who used a wedding to help set up their own future alignment. The worst part of it all was the fact that people might start believing that you were engaged to Blaise if that behavior continued at school. Hell they probably already did considering you and he had openly been affectionate. In the bloody common room where he'd been forced to witness it nonetheless. If Blaise went around claiming that you were his fiancée, everyone in slytherin would believe him. Because no one else knew that you were already married.
Taking a deep breath, Draco tried to calm down. He reminded himself that no matter what, you were still married to him. Blaise had tried to find the loophole about it having been nearly 13 years of an unfulfilled marriage. But that wouldn't hold now. Draco was sure that you'd been filled plenty of times in the last few days to blow that out of the water. He wouldn't be surprised if you started carrying the next generation of Malfoy by now.
A sort of malicious grin spread over Draco's thin lips. Sure you and he were a bit young to worry about needing to extend the family right now but it would be fitting. He could imagine how Zabini's face would look when that happened. How put off he would be the moment you started to show. It would be such sweet justice.
You could try to claim that it was Blaise's child, that was true. But when the child was born and it came out as light as snow that would be shattered. At that point you'd either have to allow the public to know that you and he, not Blaise but Draco, were married. Or let the child get dubbed a bastard. Draco knew you well enough to know that you'd never let that stigma follow any child much less your own just because of pride.
Of course that all hinged on you being pregnant first. How many times did it take for women to get pregnant anyways? Draco had no way of knowing. It wasn't like they taught them anything about how women's bodies grew babies anyways. All that he knew was that it required a man to have sex. He didn't know how many times it took for a child to be planted or if there was a special time for that. He supposed that he could ask his mother. She had successfully gotten pregnant and birthed him after all. But that seemed a bit wrong. She'd spoil his plans somehow.
There was also the fact that he didn't know how long it would take to pop the baby out. If it took too long and you graduated first then that really would spoil his fun.
He realized as he walked over to his door that he probably didn't need such a long timeframe to get revenge. There were other ways to see to it that Blaise was wrong. More importantly that he was seen to be wrong.
He had not lost you.
Draco kept a steady base as he navigated through the manor without thinking about it. He moved down the steps and went straight into his mother's study without knocking. He found her in there playing a game of wizard chess with his father. He must have come home early. Normally the older Malfoy was out and about around now. Then again they had just been at a wedding yesterday so he might have gotten some business discussion done then.
"It's rude to enter without at least knocking."
Draco nearly flinched at the tone that his father used. That was definitely not his happy voice. It was more and more difficult to catch Lucius Malfoy on a day when he was feeling pleasant. Especially as they were housing the dark lord. That man seeped the feeling of death and despair from his very being to infect everything he touched.
"Sorry," Draco said through clenched teeth as he stood his ground before his father's accusing stare. "I have something important to discuss."
"And what would that be?" His mother questioned before his father had anything to add.
"Dorian and I want a public ceremony. Soon. To finally make it public knowledge that she's joined our house and start using her proper surname."
The looks he received were a bit more critical than he'd expected. He had anticipated them asking why now or wanting to know when you and he had decided to do that.
"You and Dorian decided?" His mother probed.
"Yes."
His father's face contorted in a sort of disgusted anger as he looked at his son. Draco really had no idea what he had said wrong. As far as he was aware it had been a reasonable request. Of course you had nothing to do with it but that little inclusion was the least of his worries.
"Odd. Because she left this morning. She also left your father and I a letter informing us that she requests a divorce."
Draco practically froze as he blurted out unceremoniously: "What?"
