Pairing: Yaoi M/M, Harem – top Harry x bottoms Draco / Tom (TMR) / Cedric
Last Time:
“Someone else killed her. I assure you, Tom, I’m investigating this. In fact, it’s the reason I called. Brian, can you contact your goblins? I need to know about a Potter heirloom. Specifically, an invisibility cloak.”

Tom hid his nervousness well as he followed he followed Brianto the dome where the Herbology class was, “Did you hear from the Minister again?”
“You aren’t going to be involved so don’t worry.” Brian chuckled.
“Oh. Ok.” Tom said. His mind has been going a mile a minute since he was told about Persephone and her condition, but he thought he was hiding that. It seems Brian wasn’t so easy to fool as his past professors. Then again, it helped that the man cared. In fact, Brian was subtly watching Tom who was clearly deep in thought ...
Some of Tom’s thoughts were as follows. If that girl wasn’t killed by him and Persephone who did kill her? On top of all of this, how can he truly not be dragged into this? The minister assured him that everything was handled as far as his missing years, but what did that mean? How can he be kept out of this when he was the reason Persephone was even revealed? That makes him a witness to a murder right?
“You’re worried.” Brian said bluntly as he glanced at the teen.
Tom was surprised that saw through him so easily, “I was a witness …”
Brian frowned as he cast a muffling charm over them and stopped to look at Tom, “Officially you weren’t there back then and Persephone was found by Julian.”
“Julian?” Tom exclaimed in confusion though he felt his heart flutter slightly for some reason.
“The Minister understands what you went through. After I checked on the Gringotts issue he told me what arrangements he made for you. The story is that the Tom Riddle back in the past was your grandfather who left a pensieve behind for his heir, you, to find and, as I said, Julian is the heir of Hogwarts so it makes sense that he’d reveal Persephone now. It helps that Julian is the heir of Slytherin and speaks parseltongue.” Brian put a comforting hand on Tom’s shoulder. “All you need to do is give the goblins a memory this weekend then you only have to worry about living your life, ok?”
Tom was stunned. They handled everything so he didn’t have to worry. These people who had no reason to care have done so much for him! “I can give you the memory now!” Tom exclaimed wanting to do something to repay them.
“I know you want to help, but you’re still recovering so you aren’t allowed to push it.“ Brian smiled as Tom’s eyes had a slight glimmer to them. It looked like he was going to cry. He could tell that Tom wasn’t so much sad, but actually very happy. The poor teen has gone through so much and all by himself, “You aren’t alone now, ok?”
When the comforting arms pulled him into a hug Tom completely broke down sobbing. It was amazing to be cared for and protected for a change. No one has done that before, but now he has a home, a chance to finish school and a family. Everything he has ever wanted was right there and it made him so happy. However, there was one thing that concerned him and he feared the answer may change things …
“Who was I before my soul was healed?” Tom whispered so softly that Brian wouldn’t have heard it at all if anyone was in that hall at all.
Brian hummed, “Really the only thing known is that you speak parseltongue and have a link with Hogwarts. None of your vaults were used and there are plenty of snake speakers out there so it’s hard to say!” Brian exclaimed cheerily. “It wouldn’t matter if I did.”
Tom sniffled, “Right.” It was obvious that Brian knew, but the headmaster made it clear it didn’t matter. Tom pulled away and wiped the tears away feeling much better despite not being handed an answer.
“Feeling better?” Brian asked and when Tom nodded he removed the muffling charm and they went up the stairs to the glass dome where the greenhouse was. “Kathy!” He called out as he used a card to get the glass door open. “You’ll be given your own card by Kathy. You need it to get in.”
Tom nodded absentmindedly as he stared in awe at the room. The dome was really the ceiling of the top floor and everything under supported hundreds of different plants. A metal staircase near him that went up to the metal walkway going along the dome’s glass and up to a vine covered platform where a set of telescopes were set.. everything was ready for stargazing or walking through the twisted paths to look at the many plants that were supposedly growing wild. Even the living room area had vines creeping over the furniture. It looked like an abandoned greenhouse not a well used classroom.
“Brian! Hey! One moment! I need to bottle some thorns! Have a seat!” A woman’s voice was heard coming from deep within the jungle like classroom. Tom’s eyes lit up as he saw dozens of bowtruckles scuttle out of the trees and plants and after a moment a young woman with short green hair brown eyes appeared. “Sorry about that. Needed more ingredients for the potions class and for the swim club.”
“Yeah that’s right. You needed to pass out Pepper ups because of the full moon meet up. Do you need help restocking?” Brian asked making a mental note to check the inventory before the students start flooing in.
Tom tore his eyes away from the cute bowtruckles sitting on the vines that wrapped around the furniture, “I can help.” Tom offered happily. He has always loved potions and the fact that this will help Julian in some way was a bonus. After all, the only reason Julian wasn’t there with him was because his friend’s swim club went long and he wanted to make sure his friend, Draco, was ok. Apparently, Draco can be a bit scattered on full moon nights because of a disorder of some sort and more than one Pepper up helps that. Plus helping stock other classes will no doubt help.
Kathy smiled, “Tom Riddle, right?”
Brian nodded, “He’s your assistant now and private student. You might want to have him help. Tom here did quite well in potions. I’ll leave you guys to it.” Brian said before giving Tom a comforting smile and going to do his headmaster duties.
“You can call me Professor Kathy. It’s a little odd, but my mother works here as one of the caretakers so it’d be confusing if I used my last name. Anyway, we have an hour before class starts so let’s do a little review to see how best to tackle your studies.” Kathy sat on the couch with him and just talked about the subjects he knew. With a few questions she had a rough idea of what he needed to catch up on. “Ok, your actual academic knowledge isn’t too bad, but we should work on your magic control. I say listen in on the classes like any other student and during the breaks we’ll try some things to train your magic … maybe visiting the DADA classroom after school will help. There’s a good training area we can use!” She said excitedly before noticing some students have arrested. She handled Tom his classroom card and the class was on its way …

Cornelius frowned as he skimmed through the records Gringotts sent him with Brian’s permission, “So … the Potter family did, in fact, have an invisible cloak. It was removed from the vaults the day before the family went into hiding and was never put back after the war ended.”
It would make sense that the Hogwarts headmaster would know about it considering James Potter had it during school, but is the cloak he saw in Dumbledore’s office the same one? Of course, even if it was what did that prove? Unfortunately, it would only prove theft. There was no way to really charge much more than that though one thing bothered him. It was all in the way Tom described his last memory.
It seems reasonable to think the wrinkles Tom saw was from an invisibility cloak, but it couldn’t be the same one as Potter’s. After all, James wasn’t even born yet let alone there at the time. Of course, why would someone like Dumbledore risk taking an heirloom when he had one of his own?
The sharp chime of a clock in the office startled the minister straight out of his seat and onto the floor, “Bloody hell … that time already huh.” He grumbled as he stood up and looked at the clock. He knew Sirius’ healer would be on a visitation so now would be a good time to visit. “Where did I put it-ah ha!” Out of his desk drawer he pulled out a stone bowl and left his office.

Remus jumped slightly as he heard a knock on the door, but before he could go get it he saw the person enter, “Minister? I wasn’t expecting you! Megan is with Sirius now-“
“That’s fine. I actually wanted to talk to you.” Cornelius said noticing a clear sign of relief from the werewolf, but ignored it.
“Me?” Remus asked curiously just happy that Sirius wasn’t in trouble.
“Yes. I want to talk to you about a Potter family heirloom that you might know about. Brian can’t find it in the vaults, but Ruby mentioned it when she came to speak with me.” Cornelius commented as he put the stone bowl down on the coffee table as they both sat down. His lip twitched in amusement when he spotted a nervous flicker in the werewolf’s eyes. “She didn’t say anything about Sirius if that’s what you’re worried about. He is her patient, after all. It’s not like there’s something I should know, right?”
Remus shook his head quickly, “No.”
“Hmm very well.” Cornelius said allowing this obvious lie to go by this one time since no one seemed hurt. Just in case, however, he’ll run this by Brian and Severus to see if they know anything about it. “Back to business! Do you know where James Potter’s invisibility cloak is?”
“After school and getting married it was put into the family vault since James and Lily didn’t need it around a baby that could hide under it. When they went into hiding James took it out of his vault as a little extra tool against Voldemort, but … it didn’t save them.” Remus said sadly as he thought back. “It should’ve been taken straight to the Potter’s vaults after their deaths. I don’t know why it wouldn’t be there. Did someone take it?”
The Minister frowned, “I believe so and perhaps I know who, but first I need you to identify something. Is the item I’m picking up familiar to you? For investigation reasons I’m only going to show a tiny fragment of a memory.”
“Ok.” Remus agreed as he watched the Minister use a wand to pull a short silvery thread from his and placed it in the bowl. It acted like a small pensieve and, taking the hint, Remus leaned over. Once his face was in the bowl he found himself a memory that took place in Dumbledore’s office. If anything it was more like a photo than a full memory since the two figures, Dumbledore and the Minister, weren’t moving. The Minister was bent over in the process of picking something very familiar up from the ground. Remus pulled his face out of the bowl. “That’s definitely James’ cloak- …”
Cornelius frowned when he saw Remus trail off and seem to go deep into his thoughts for a moment, “You know something.”
“It’s just when Sirius-“ Remus instantly remembered the possible consequences admitting to Sirius escaping may have he fell stopped himself. “Can I just say he didn’t mean it-“
“Assuming no one was harmed I won’t hold anything you or Sirius. Now tell me. What happened?” The Minister urged gently hoping for any helpful information.
“Put simply, Sirius escaped before I got him here and I had to go through Dumbledore’s office to get him. I didn’t realize until just now, but I smelled it. I smelled James’ cloak in the office.” Remus said not sure why his friend’s heirloom would be there.
The Minister dumped out the tiny copy of his memory and set the empty bowl down in front of Remus, “I’m going to need as much detail as possible. Everything about the cloak that you can remember and Sirius’ escape.”
