Disclaimer: The Harry Potter universe belongs to JK Rowling. I am making no money from this. |
CH20 AN: And so to my lovely reviewers: Dedicated_Reader – glad you've caught up. And I'm baffled at your comment of how I'll 'bleed this plotline into resolving the main story arch.' The main story arc is Get Harry and Severus to shag. This should definitely help with that!
I'm Weird And That's OK – you do know half of your review was about Fragmented Soul, right?! ;) Hope you're feeling better. A bit of YouTube binge watching is always fun. I am missing that at the moment with work being so busy. As to your mixed feelings, I really shouldn't have mentioned the sequel. I keep forgetting that you guys don't know all the stuff I know. Case in point, I nearly mentioned a few chapters before Remus died that he was dead. See how you lot nearly get me to tell you things I shouldn't?! Don't worry, this does have an ending. Kinda happy. Well, as happy as I tend to get!
Harry and Severus aren't officially still on the wank/blow plan, as Harry's wolf is settling down, but there is smutty stuff that happens in the background. I just have given up on constantly writing it!
And, yes, Severus does not have the highest self-esteem does he?
And you're waiting for me to destroy your feelings but put you back together? Okay... I can't put me back together, but sure, why not! At least I know how to fix you. It starts with 'S' and ends with 'narry'.
As for Fragmented Soul. I'm not a Fenrir/Harry fan, but I will give most things a go (even the dreaded Snermione *bleargh*) before I give up. If it's a good narrative I'll stick around. I'm all caught up (have read chapter 94) now and need to leave a 'I'm Weird And I Know It' length review as there is so much I need to say (good). I haven't found out what happens with Severus either, but if he is killed I will hunt down the writers and do a bit of … gentle persuading to make them change their minds.
Nannon10 – Oh if I made you guys wait as long as I had to get that stupid sex scene written I'd have a rebellion on my hands! Seriously, I couldn't write it for a MONTH. Now imagine me making you lot wait that long? *cowers*
And, er, wow, I was genuinely rather touched you like Areas I and II. I like them too, but they're a bit like looking at an old photo of yourself from a decade ago. I'm not that person any more and hope I've changed for the better and (please, please) that I'm a better writer now. EPM is my favourite thing I've written.
“Classic SP”? I have a signature style now?! Loving it!
Thunderbird – The coming is definitely coming! And yes, almost there.

Chapter 20 – Will you give in to me?
With Harry learning that he could finally have sex without it hurting on the Tuesday evening, he felt eager for Friday. And whilst it wasn't far away, it was long enough that he felt tension and lust coil within him as he waited, trying not to force the issue, trying not to prowl, trying not to stalk Snape, trying not to jump the other man's bones. It made for an uncomfortable few days.
Trying to distract Harry, and himself, from the looming prospect of Friday evening, Severus deliberately focused on what would happen once Dumbledore was dead, and he had had to flee the school. “I have been considering how to ensure you get your regular supply of Wolfsbane to help you once I have gone. Annoyingly, the potion can't be stored for longer than about two weeks, so I can't just make a big batch and leave it for you. I will need to make some every month and find a way of getting it to you.”
Harry, for once derailed from his thoughts about lying under Snape, wrinkled his nose as he thought. He was slouched in a comfortable chair and trying to control his raging hormones, not very successfully. “So, what will you do?”
Severus turned his careworn face to the youngster. The thought of killing his protector and friend had to be faced and ignored for the time being. Right now he had to ensure the boy he had promised to help was given the support he needed. He spoke carefully, not sure how Harry would respond to his suggestions. “I thought that I could hide a batch of the potion in Hogsmeade. As little as I like the idea, the Shrieking Shack is really the best place. No-one goes into it, and you can get there from the village if you are careful. I can hide it under the same loose floorboard that Lupin stored your clothes and wands under.”
Harry's jaw clenched, as it always did, at the mention of the beast who had turned him. Inside, the wolf was snarling, hating the mention of that place where he had been so abused. Reluctantly, he nodded. “It does make sense, I guess. What about once term is over? I'll be sent to the Dursleys, but at some point I'll probably end up either at Sirius', or the Weasleys'. How can you reach me then?”
Standing, the younger man moved over to Snape's chair. He settled on the broad arm of the furniture and settled his toes between Severus' thighs. Feet encased in Gryffindor red slipper socks, he tried to keep all expression off his face, trying not to show his intentions.
Severus wasn't fooled. He lifted an eyebrow as the student nonchalantly wriggled into a comfortable position on the arm. Harry innocently stretched and rubbed at a flat expanse of stomach. Snape gently grasped the foot nearest his crotch and held it away from his throbbing balls.
“Severus!” Harry wailed, denied the foreplay he had intended.
“Friday,” the Slytherin said sternly, forcing his attention back to the problem of leaving Harry Wolfsbane wherever he might be staying. The older man had also considered, as he was sure Harry had not, that with Dumbledore gone, the school would likely fall under the control of the Dark Lord, and that it would not be a comfortable place for Harry to be. Especially given You-Know-Who's obsession with finding and killing the young man who currently shared Snape's rooms. Next year loomed ahead of Severus full of problems and dark concerns. And yet he still had to get to that point, and ensure Harry had what he needed to do what had to be done. And, of course, Harry being a werewolf raised a massive issue around his return to Privet Drive once term ended. As little as either of them liked the Dursleys, neither truly wanted them killed. And certainly not in a werewolf attack that would no doubt alert the Dark Lord to Harry's new condition.
“One moment,” he said and went over to the calendar which showed the full moons. Normally, he didn't have a calendar that did, but after the boy had been turned, he had made sure he always knew when to expect a werewolf in his rooms. He looked at it and chided himself: why had he not considered this earlier? “We have a problem.” He admitted unhappily. “The full moon in July is on the 20th. Probably when you'll be staying with your relations.”
Harry's eyes widened. “I can't be around them when I change. What if I hurt them?”
“My thoughts exactly. This is something crucial, Harry. We have to speak to Albus about it. Hopefully he hadn't forgotten about you returning to the Muggles and has something in mind.”
Thoughts churning at the fear of being unable to control himself and injuring – or worse – his cousin, aunt, or uncle made all thoughts of Friday fall from Harry's head. He joined Severus at the calendar and stared at the information intently, as if he could change the date by sheer will power alone.
“Severus?” Harry's voice was small. “I don't want to hurt them. Don't let me. Save me from myself.”
Clenching his teeth at the pain of seeing the younger man so concerned, he nodded. “That's what I've been trying to do since you joined this school.” He quirked his eyebrows before adding, “Not always successfully, mainly due to your own idiocy.”
Harry reached over a chair back and threw a cushion at the older man.

“Ah, Severus, Harry. How wonderful to see you both!” Albus always greeted Snape like nothing could please him more than to be seeing the sallow faced moody teacher. And it always made Severus want to hex the older wizard. Which was why Albus did it, of course.
Wary eyes searching the room, Harry entered and settled into the chair the headmaster waved him into. Snape perched on the one next to it.
“Now, what can I do you fine gentlemen?”
Clasping his patience with both hands, the DADA professor began, “Have you given any thought to what will happen whilst Harry is at his relatives' house? He'll change there. And I don't know how I can get any wolfsbane to him to make him safe.”
Twinkling blue eyes looked immediately serious. “Yes, I had considered that. I have been looking for some kind of reasonable solution for a while now. It is hardly a decent idea to simply suggest Harry goes to some other location whilst he changes. Although that would be better, I doubt he wishes to risk his friends any more than he wishes to risk his family. And there is always, of course, the matter of the protection provided by his mother's blood. He needs to be at her sister's house for it to be as strong as possible until he comes of age.”
Harry swallowed. “Have you – thought of anything, sir?”
Albus took off his glasses and said genially, “Perhaps, perhaps. You know Arabella Figg of course. I have considered ensuring you stay the night there, and we will remove her. All the usual enchantments can be cast around the house and its immediate vicinity to prevent your escape, and in that way you can't possibly hurt your relatives, nor anyone else. As well, although it isn't your aunt's house, it is close by, and it means we could easily cast a shield around the area so that transporting you from one place to the other won't leave you exposed, or put others at risk either.”
Severus didn't like the idea, too much could go wrong, but he acknowledged they had very few options. “And who would you entrust the casting too?”
“I thought perhaps Tonks. She knows Harry, and we can trust her.”
Harry felt a small surge of joy at the idea of seeing Tonks during the holiday, even if only for a brief time. It would stop him feeling quite so cut off from the wizarding world. Although, given how miserable she had been when he had occasionally seen her this year, he doubted it would be much fun. But then, so little in his life was fun at the moment. Only the thought of Friday was stopping him from screaming at the basic unfairness of the world. Well, that and knowing Severus would think him a spoiled brat if he whinged.
- And I'd have plenty to say. - The wolf whispered in his head.
“What about my aunt and uncle, sir?” Harry asked, “What do I tell them?”
“I will shortly write to them to give an outline of the situation, and to make clear how crucial it is that you be allowed to spend the night at Arabella's during the full moon. I will also remind your aunt of her promise to keep you safe until you become an adult, just in case she gets any notions into her head about kicking you out.”
Not that he had been prepared to admit it, but that was what had concerned Harry most – the idea that Aunt Petunia would refuse to allow him back because he was a danger to her precious 'Ickle Duddy-kins'.
He sat in the chair and let his mind wander. Going back to Privet Drive would bring with it its own set of issues, but with the added layer of his new condition, it did seem rather problematic. Whilst engrossed in his own thoughts, the two older wizards were still talking.
“And after, Severus? Can you still provide the potion once he is without his mother's protection?”
Snape rubbed at the crease between his eyebrows. He was sure the flesh there was becoming more and more deeply engraved with each burden the old man placed upon him. “I think so. Providing Harry can always reach the Shrieking Shack, I can ensure he has a steady supply of Wolfsbane. And, I suppose, we could have a second drop off point, in case Hogsmeade is too difficult to enter.”
Albus “hmmmed” and frowned as he scratched one wrinkled cheek. “Perhaps a letter to my brother is in order, to ensure Harry has safe access to the village.”
He saw the youngster's distraction and raised his voice. “Harry?” Seeing amber eyes become green and focus on him, he went on, “My brother runs the Hogs Head Inn in Hogsmeade, and it is connected to the floo network, and possibly has an apparition point as well.”
“Sir?”
Choosing to imagine that Harry was questioning the concept of an apparition point, rather than his teacher suddenly confessing the existence of here-to-fore unknown sibling, Albus continued, “Public buildings, if they so choose, can set up apparition points to allow patrons or customers access without allowing them free run of the place. I'm sure Aberforth has such a thing, especially given the clientele his bar is usually filled with.” He cleared his throat, “A, er, letter, may be appropriate.”
Sensing that there was a larger story there that Dumbledore had no intention of sharing, Harry wisely didn't ask why Albus would send a letter to his brother, rather than simply go and speak to him.
“Well then,” the headmaster said, his voice determinedly cheerful, “we all have things to be getting on with. Harry, I trust you haven't forgotten what you have learned about Voldemort? Nor have you allowed the task I assigned you to slip your mind?”
“Er, no, of course not, Professor,” Harry lied, having completely forgotten any mission he had been given to recover a memory from Slughorn. Dealing with his werewolf problem had been fully absorbing every bit of energy he had had. Well, that and plotting ways to jump Snape's bones. He felt vaguely bad that he wasn't giving the task anything like his full attention, but did feel that perhaps Dumbledore should have cut him some slack for once. After all, he had had rather a lot on his plate recently. Still, he'd not trade this year for anything, regardless of his bad luck, even with the werewolf complication, and definitely not for the insanity that the previous year had been! He could hardly believe how much he'd changed: how the hatred and anger he'd felt towards Snape during their Occlumency lessons had developed into something very different indeed; how he was no longer having to teach Defence to a group of fellow students; how he was no longer sneaking around the castle avoiding the mad pink bitch...
“Sir?” Harry suddenly threw his head back, an idea having popped into his mind.
The two professors looked at him.
“Last year, when I was, erm, helping my friends learn some defence against the dark arts, Hermione had this brilliant method of keeping us all in contact with one another. She charmed some fake galleons to spell out the times and dates of DA meetings. Could something like that be useful again? After, well, afterwards, if Severus needs to change a location of a potion?”
Both men seemed to be gaping at the student.
“It was just an idea,” Harry back-tracked. “Forget it.”
“No!” Snape's voice was loud. He modulated it as he repeated, “No, Harry, that is a very good idea. It will certainly be better for us both if we can contact one another safely. And, next year it may be awkward for you to return to Hogwarts. At least that way I can feel I can be kept updated on your whereabouts.”
“Awkward to return?” Green eyes flicked and met pain-filled bright blue ones. “Oh. Right.”
Dark eyes unfocused as he thought, Snape mulled over Harry's idea. It was simple, and brilliant, as the best ideas usually were. And, given that Granger no longer seemed to actively hate him, he was sure he could convince her to make him a galleon as well. “You do still have your coin, don't you?” he asked suddenly of the young man.
“Yes. I keep it in my trunk. But it'd be no hardship to start carrying it again.”
“I think, perhaps, it would be wise to begin carrying it as soon as possible. If only to get us both used to having it upon our persons.”
The boy nodded. He was just realising what would end with Dumbledore's death. There was no way he'd be safe at Hogwarts. Even if Severus were still teaching here, Dumbledore had always been his protector whilst at school. It was Dumbledore that Voldemort had always feared. With the older wizard gone, there would be nothing to stop Voldemort attacking Harry here. Or, indeed, anywhere. Which meant he would have to go on the run if he intended to stay alive. As much as he knew and accepted he would one day have to face his enemy, he had no intention of doing so before he had to. And certainly not before he felt reasonably confident of winning. Right now he knew he stood no chance.
He had been living in a fool's paradise, and it was time to face the harsh truth. Being turned should have stripped any such innocence from him, yet someone he had clung onto a belief that everything would be all right. Only now was he truly understanding how precarious everything was, and how narrow the margin for success.
It made him depressed.
And desperate to sleep with Severus.

CH20 AN: Yep, I am STILL making you wait.
CH21 preview: “Harry,” Snape was groaning. He stood in the doorway to the boy's room and was staring, face flushed, eyes transfixed on the rhythmical movement of the blanket.
Embarrassed, the Gryffindor stopped. His cock protested the ceasefire. Voice hoarse he croaked, “Severus, please.”
Unable to deny Harry, despite knowing he shouldn't, Severus entered the room, tugged back the bed linen and stared hungrily at the swollen, glistening tip. Slowly, one trembling hand reached down and gripped Harry.
