Chapter 21
--
Previously:
“Hello, Seamus.”
Seamus Finnegan was speechless, caused by a mixture of
terror, resignation, hope, and longing.
Yes, longing. There, standing
before him were two of the most gorgeous male specimehe whe world had ever
produced. Raithos was standing, arms
crossed over his broad, shirtless chest, dressed in silk pants and a silk
robe. The black contrasted beautifully
with his pale skin. Draco was at his
right, his face the perfect picture of cold arrogance, dressed similarly in
silver and black. Seamus was thrown
back into memories of them both. He
snapped back to reality when he realized just whom he was facing here.
He stepped further into the room and dropped to his knees,
hands trembling slightly.
“My Lord…”
Raithos looked at him with narrowed eyes. He was extremely suspicious of Seamus, more
so than any other non-Slytherin potential.
He remembered the glares he’d gotten from the Gryffindor at the
beginning of term.
“Why are you here, Seamus.”
Seamus looked up sharply.
The expressions on the two Slytherins’ faces were unreadable. Cold.
Seamus realized he was still in a very dangerous situation.
“I’m here to serve you.”
“Why the sudden change of heart?” Draco asked, his face
still set in an arrogant mask.
Seamus drew in a shaky breath. His very life depended on these next few moments.
“You were right.
About the side of the Light, that is.
They’ve already lost, and they don’t even know it. I…I don’t want to be on the losing
side. I want to still be around when
this is all over. They’re all blinded
to what’s really going on. I…Dumbledore
doesn’t have a plan, does he? He’s
lost. I can sort of tell. Ginny won’t let anybody believe tho though,
she’s kind of taken over. I know that
back in fifth year I was pretty horrible to Harry, when we all thought he’d
gone dark. But that was mainly because
of me Mum. She was real scared that I’d
follow Harry to the dark side, and then I’d hate me Dad, him being a Muggle and
all. But, well, she divorced him last
year. He started getting all weird
about us being wizards.
“When you came back as the Son, I had time to start thinking. Yeah, I was pretty mad at first, we all
were. But, the things you said, to Ron,
and …Hermione, I started thinking about them.
That time in the hall, right after the Sorting Feast, when you said that
thing about the letters. We talked
about it afterwards, and they said it was all true. So I started wondering about all the other secrets they might be
keeping.
“After the divorce and all, me Mum’s opinion of Muggles
really changed a lot…and mine has been too.”
While Raithos listened to the rambling Gryffindor, he delved
into his mind. He saw his growing
resentment for Muggles, his fear of dying, and his growing dislike for some of
his fellow Gryffindors, especially Ginny Weasley. Apparently the youngest red-head had become quite the ringleader
of anti-Raithos sentiment. He also
found a disturbing amount of lingering obsession for both him and Draco. But there, that’s what he was looking for. A growing loyalty towards him. With careful cultivation, Seamus would
become a very loyal lapdog.
“Seamus,” Raithos interrupted.
“Yes, My Lord?” Seamus squeaked with fear evident in his
eyes.
“You will go about this on a trial basis. I do not accept followers lightly, and all
must prove their loyalty to me. This
will be your chance to do that. I don’t
think I need to tell you what the consequence will be if you should fail.”
Seamus paled at that statement.
“You will begin training with the other potentials. My Shadows will be keeping a close eye on
you. Especially on you.
“You will be attending Occlumency lessons with Professor
Snape starting tomorrow evening. Eight
o’clock in his classroom. I’ve also put
a small spell on you to keep you from spilling any secrets you may learn about
me. I am a very private person, and
what happens in my dungeons, stays in my dungeons. Is that understood?”
Seamus nodded fiercely.
He wasn’t going to mess this chance up.
“Blaise will contact you with the information on the
training sessions and weekly meetings with me for updates on your
progress. If you need to speak to Draco
or myself outside of these meetings, you will go through Pansy or Blaise. That will be all for now. Keep your eyes open, I want to know
everything that goes on in that tower.”
Seamus bowed again, relief washing through him. A part of him was screaming not to let his
guard down, that Neville had thought he was alright that first night. He walked slowly out of the room, to head
back towards Gryffindor. Maybe he would
skip breakfast tomorrow…
--
“Did you find what you needed?” Draco asked, coming up
behind Raithos to wrap arms around his waist and rest his forehead on his
shoulder.
“Yes. He’ll make a
good little lapdog. He still has a
crush on you, you know.”
Draco shuddered.
“Like I’d ever leave you for that little Irish freak.”
“Good to know.”
Draco sighed and tightened his arms around Raithos. “Have you decided on his final trial yet?”
Raithos leaned back against his lover. “Yes.
It’ll be at the beginning of Christmas hols, along with the rest of the
Seventh years. I picked Dean.”
Draco looked up at that.
“Thomas? His best friend?”
“Yes. Thomas is a
mudblood. A weak one at that. He’s never been good with practical
magic. He can do theory, but a Muggle
could learn magical theory. Spells have
gotten harder for him as the years have gone on. He shouldn’t be in Hogwarts.
He’s too weak to make a living in the wizarding world, and that means
he’s going to be going back to the Muggle world with knowledge of ours. He’s a danger. That’s one of the things we’re going to change after this war, Co. You enter the wizarding world, you stay in
the wizarding world. You get no choice
of leaving again. Those who chose not
to learn will be obliviated, so they forget this world even exists. It’s all about keeping us safe. Muggles don’t deserve to know about us. We’re above them.”
Draco nuzzled into Raithos’ neck, smiling. “I’m so proud. My little protégé is all grown up now, thinking like a big
wizard.”
“Bastard.”
“Git.”
“Ponce.”
“Ex-Gryffindor,” Draco retorted with a huge smirk.
“Oh, that was way below the belt.”
“No, this is below the belt…”

Lucius was sitting in the parlor of Riddle Mansion, sipping
a glass of firewhiskey and staring thoughtfully into the fispanspan
style="mso-spacerun: yes"> The past few months had wrought a change in
the wizarding world not seen since Lord Voldemort first came into
existence. This time, much like that
first time, things were changing for the better.
Lord Voldemort had started out as a wonderful
politician. He’d started out trying to
do such great things for the wizarding world.
He’d wanted to make sure that the wizarding world would remain safe from
the Muggles that were threatening it.
Mudbloods had been let into Hogwarts in record numbers, and Voldemort
had been worried at the number of Muggles that had found out about their
world. He had been doing great things,
and then the worst had happened.
Lorelai had disappeared.
After that, Voldemort had ced. He’d turned into the monster that had existed up until a few
months ago, wreaking havoc and destruction wherever he went. His followers, who had once followed out of
friendship and respect, began fearing their leader. Voldemort had gone mad.
That had all changed again, when Raithos stepped into their
lives. He’d given his father his sanity
back.n stn style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Slowly but surely, their Lord had
begun to return to his former glory.
The needless destruction had stopped, to be replaced by careful planning
and plotting. The torturing of
followers had stopped, to be replaced by a more give and take
relationship. Voldemort listened to their
ideas, and they began to be less ful oul of putting them forth.
Most importantly, Lucius had his best friend back. And for that, he was eternally grateful.
“Lucius?”
“Yes, My Lord,” Lucius replied, a smile still on his face.
Lord Voldemort walked into the parlor and sat in the chair
opposite the blonde. “What is the smile
for?”
“I was just remembering.”
--
“My Lord, the werewolf wishes to meet with you again. He has chosen a side,” Snape said. He was in Raithos and Draco’s room once
again, making his weekly report.
“Since he wants to meet with me, I’m assuming he has chosen
our side?” Raithos asked, eyes closed.
He had a particularly bad headache that day, one that even Madame
Pomfrey’s strongest potion couldn’t seem to banish. He was laying on a couch with his head in Draco’s lap. Draco was doing everything he could to
soothe his pain, and was currently running his fingers gently through Raithos’
hair.
“Yes, My Lord. I’ve
told him what I know of Dumbledore, and he has said he cannot, in good
conscience, side with the fool.”
Raithos sighed. He
was glad Remus wasn’t going to side with Bumblefuck, but he knew deep down that
he wouldn’t be much of a help to his father.
He’d make an adequate spy, but that was all. Raithos doubted that Remus would agree to being marked,
even. The werewolf was just too
softhearted for it. He wasn’t cut out
for war.
“Speaking of the fool, how goes that?” Draco asked quietly.
“He’s close to breaking.
Once the Daily Prophet begins printing the leaked stories that old toad
is currently spreading in the Ministry, he will crack. He’s very old, and his magic is
leaking. He can’t hold in everything
much longer. He also trusts me more
than McGonagall now. In our meeting
this afternoon he told me that he doesn’t trust her not to judge him for his
past actions, but he knows I will understand.”
“Good. Pops and
Lucius are having everyone they can write Umbridge with letters demanding for
Dumbledore’s dismissal. She’ll present
them to the governors as soon as Fudge is disposed of,” Raithos said, rubbing
his temples with his fingertips.
“Alright Severus, that is enough for now. Let us know when Lupin wants a meeting. The Prince here needs to get some rest,”
Draco said, taking charge of the situation.
It was obvious that Raithos was just going to tough it out as long as he
could.
‘Bloody Gryffindorish tendencies. Doesn’t know when to give in.’
“Yes Draco. Good
evening, My Lord,” Snape said, bowing, before exiting the room.
Draco looked down at the pain-ridden face of his lover.
“You know that you are too bloody stubborn for your own
good, right?”
Raithos grimaced and squinched his eyes shut even tighter.
“Yeah, Pops said I get it from my mother. Apparently, her mother was a Gryffindor.”
“Well, that certainly explains a lot,” Draco said softly,
pulling Raithos into a sitting position.
“Come on, let’s get you to bed.”
“I don’t need help, I can do it myself,” Raithos whined as
Draco began helping him off with his clothes.
Draco smiled.
Raithos was just too cute when he was acting like a little child. “I know, but the sooner I get you
into bed, the sooner I can sleep myself.”
“Fine,” Raithos grumbled.
