Part 21:

The next morning, Harry awoke to an empty bed and the sun shining in through the open window blinds. Obviously, Severus had a habit of waking early, which Harry assumed was a good thing and meant that He wouldn’t have to care for the baby early in the mornings when Severus was already awake anyway. Stretching, the young Gryffindor pulled himself from the bed and made his way to the restroom to get dressed for the day.

Once he was finished, he made his way down to the dining room in search of something to eat. It seemed as though the little one growing inside him was demanding to be feed and Harry had no reason not to oblige.

Upon entering the quant dining room, Harry was greeted by Hermione, “Harry! Professor Snape said that when you woke up to ask you to meet him and Madame Pomfery in the drawing room.”

Smiling back at the frizzy haired girl, Harry grabbed a piece of buttered toast and exited the room.

Once he approached the drawing room, he knocked on the door and let himself in.

“Hermione said that you wished to see me here?” He asked Severus who was obviously in the middle of a conversation with the nurse prior to the interruption.

He was quickly greeted by both occupants and shown to a seat on the couch.

“Harry, Professor Snape has informed me that you’re a bit worried about the weight that you’ve gained?” The nurse began. “If you would please remove your shirt and lay down, I can do some quick scans to see how you are progressing.”

Harry did as he was asked without a comment. Severus sat down in a chair next to Harry’s and stroked the young wizard’s unruly hair.

“Relax, sweetheart. Everything is going to be alright,” He whispered to Harry.

After what seemed like hours, but was only about twenty minutes, the Nurse told Harry that he could sit up and put his shirt back on. In the mean time, she snatched up a chart from the side table and made a few notes.

Turning back to the two men, she took a seat herself and began to speak, “It seems that I’ve overlooked a crucial development in your pregnancy, Mr. Potter.”

“What would that be, Poppy,” Severus’ face was pale and he held tighter to his Harry’s hand.

The witch waited a moment before continuing, “It seems as though you are having twins,” She stated calmly. “I’m not sure how I managed to overlook this but I need you to be sure to get plenty of nutrients and take it easy. Not many wizards are able to carry twins to term, Mr. Potter. There are few documented cases of such occurrences.”

Harry paled and squeezed his partner’s hand.

Calmly, Poppy tried to reassure the two wizards, “I have no doubt that everything will be fine. You are both very strong and powerful wizards and so will your children be.”

At this Harry tried to smile, he knew that his children would be strong in the magical arts because both of their father’s were and there was no denying that. “What do I need to do to prepare for this and how much bigger am I going to get?” Harry asked.

The Nurse smiled, “Harry dear, you will probably get much larger. You must know though, that you cannot use charms or glamour’s on yourself because they can run the risk on affecting your children. The risks are much higher with twins than they are with only one child, Harry. I’m sorry but I don’t think you’ll be able to hide this when you go back to Hogwarts. As for what you should do, you should try to take things easy, don’t over exert yourself and try not to get very stressed out. Also, the more time that you spend with Severus, the better and easier things will be. The children will use a lot of your magic and you’ll need Severus’ magic to help replenish what the children take from you.”

As Severus listened to Poppy speak of Harry and his children, he gently wrapped his arm around his lover’s back, pulling him toward himself.

“Well, if you have no further questions for me, I should head back to the school,” The older woman announced as she got to her feet and prepared to leave.

It was Severus who stopped her, “Poppy, one more question.”

“Yes?” She turned to face her old friend.

“What about sex?” He asked bluntly.

She thought for a minute before answering, “Well, I can probably tell you the sex of the children during Harry’s next visit, if you wish to know.”

Severus smiled, maybe he was being too vague, “That’s not what I meant. I meant, is it safe for us to have sex?” he clarified.

The nurse blushed, “I don’t see why not, as long as Harry’s feeling up to it.”

“Alright, thank you Poppy,” Severus said as he watched the nurse leave the drawing room.

Turning more to look at Harry, Severus placed a hand on his expanding mid section, “Harry, I’m going to be right here with you, I promise. I love you,” He added, kissing the pregnant man on the forehead.
