The following morning Hermione walked out onto the balcony and smiled as she looked out over the grounds. Overnight it had snowed and there was a fresh layer lightly sitting over the gardens. The flowers were enchanted to never freeze so it was a mix of soft purples, reds, oranges, and blues scattered among the white landscape. She felt arms wrap around her waist and smiled as she looked up to see Draco smiling down at her.
“I always loved this place during the winter” he replied and she nodded.
“It really is beautiful.”
“Are you ready for tonight?” he asked and she shrugged.
“I am but we don't really have a choice” she said and he nodded, her sensing his somber mood change, “Draco I didn't mean it in a bad way. I simply meant we cannot keep on denying our bond. It's clawing at us to do this so we should satisfy it for now. I'm not doing it just to get it over with. I want to do this just as much as you do.”
“Are you scared?”
“Of course I am!” she replied with a soft smile, “You'll be there with me though, so it helps calm me.”
“No matter what happens tonight, don't let go of me love. I can't afford to lose you” he said, his arms tightening around her and she nodded.
Alex had told them that it was rare for mates to die in the ritual, but it could happen if they broke contact during the transfer. That was why the cords were wrapped around their arms during the ritual, to help keep them connected. She said in the old days it was more common for the deaths because the cords had not been used.
Hermione smiled and they both went downstairs to eat breakfast. Upon arriving in the dining room they found Alex and Remus in a heated debate. Khira and Tonks welcomed them before going back to listening to the debate and shook their heads at the two of them.
“So you are going to sit here and tell me that Severus is the reason Lily got killed?” Remus asked and Alex shook her head.
“No you misunderstand me. I am saying that Severus revealed Voldemort's plans. They were hidden but he didn't feel they were safe so he involved my department and Dumbledore refused us! I believe that if Dumbledore had listened and had actually hidden them in Romania like we had planned then Lily and James would both still be alive today.”
“Why Severus of all people? What was so special about Lily that Severus would go out of his way to do it?”
They heard someone clear their throat and turned towards the noise. Hermione and Draco were both shocked to see Severus standing there glaring at Alex.
“Are you done revealing my secrets that you've pried from my mind without my permission?” he stated and she rolled her eyes.
“I didn't pry the information from your mind Sev” she said, holding up a book they all recognized as the one she took from the Dursley's “It explains everything that happened.”
“How did you get that?” he asked, Draco recognizing the shock in his eyes.
“It was at the Dursley's house” they watched as a flash of disgust passed across Snape's face.
“I will read it later. Right now I need to start working on the potion for tonight” he replied and Khira rolled her eyes.
“It's already been brewing since last night. It has a stasis spell on it and I'll finish it when I'm done eating. It's on the final stage” she said and he nodded.
“Sit down and eat Severus. I know you're hungry” Alex stated and he glared at her.
“How-”
“You've never been known to turn down Gippy's cooking” she said with a smirk and he rolled his eyes as Draco snickered.
“Hush Draco” he said, before he sat down next to him “Now what was this heated discussion about when I walked in?”
“I was discussing with Remus the information you told me and the night Lily and James died was brought up” she said and he scowled.
“Draco and Ms. Granger do not need-”
“Hermione already knows” she cut him off and he looked right at her.
“Will someone tell me what is going on?” Tonks looked around at them all.
“We found out Potter has a connection to the Dark Lord and it made him vulnerable. So we decided to move him somewhere the Dark Lord would not suspect before the protections on the house went down on his birthday. He stayed here with Alex and Khira during the summer. Alex also has been teaching him Occlumency” Snape commented and Tonks turned to him.
“I thought you were teaching him.”
“Severus was having trouble due to Harry and him not getting along so I offered to teach him” Alex explained, and Snape nodded his thanks to her. He didn't want to admit to Tonks that he'd failed.
“So why exactly are you here Severus?” Draco asked and he looked sideways at him.
“The Headmaster asked that I assist with the potion making for your ritual.”
“I'm sure he did” Khira growled and the two shared a look.
“Enough Khira” Alex stated, seeing the thoughts in her wife's mind.
“Sorry.”
They continued with their breakfast and the conversations were mostly small talk. When she finished Khira stood up and walked away, glaring sideways at Snape. The Potion's Master either didn't notice or pretended not to, continuing to eat in silence. Remus and Tonks finished and stood up, stating they were going for a walk outside in the gardens. When Snape finished, Alex requested a word with him and Hermione watched them walk outside to the back patio. Draco and her shared a look before going back to eating.
Alex and Snape sat down at the seats on the back patio and she opened the book to one of the pages and slowly pushed it across the table. He looked at her oddly before reading the page. Once he was done he huffed and she could see the sadness in his eyes.
“I know you loved her Sev, but I was not expecting what was written on that page” she said, using his nickname she'd given him long ago.
“You must never let Harry know” he replied, looking at her.
“When the war is over, you must tell him. He needs to know.” she said quietly.
“After all that I've done to the boy!” he hissed and she growled at him.
“She did it to protect you and him” she turned to him and leaned in closer, “I know you only see James when you look at him, but he is more like her than you'll ever realize.”
“He cannot ever know.”
“I will not reveal your secret Sev, but in return I ask that you not tell Albus anything about what you see while you're here. He cannot know how strong they truly are” she placed her hand on top of his and he looked at her.
“I will not tell Lexi” he replied and she smiled before standing up.
“I'll let you read this while you're here. I think you need to read it more than anyone” she said, placing her hand on top of the book, before walking away.
Alex walked back inside and saw Hermione and Draco had finished eating and assumed they went back upstairs. She walked into the foyer before heading into the eastern wing of the estate. At the end of the hall she entered a room with a stained oak door and coughed slightly at the fumes inside. She approached the table in front of her and found a pair of green eyes glaring at her.
“What is it?” she asked.
“I don't want him here.”
“Get over it Khira-”
“No I won't! I don't need him here-” she was cut off by Alex pinning her to the wall and she instantly turned her head away exposing her neck, a sign of submission.
“I said you will get over it and I mean it!” Alex growled and Khira whimpered, “He is only going to be here until they are healed from the ritual. That means you will put up with him and get over your stupid rivalry.”
“Alright” Khira said, sniffing lightly, before Alex let her go and walked quickly from the room.
As she stormed down the hall she passed Snape and he noticed her enraged look. He stared back at her and quickly entered her mind seeing the discussion she'd just had with Khira, but was shoved out by Alex who hissed at him. He held his hands up in surrender before continuing to the potion's lab. When he reached the room he found Khira writing down notes at the back table. He leaned over the potion that was brewing and examined it before raising his eyes where he saw glowing green eyes looking back at him.
“There's nothing wrong with it” she growled.
“I can see that Khira” he stated and she turned away from him in an huff.
“I don't get why you have to be here. I can do this by myself” she stated.
“I am only here on Dumbledore's orders.”
“It doesn't mean you have to be inside my potion's lab” she said, turning and looking at him.
“What is your bloody problem?!” he roared at her.
“You are my problem! No matter how good my work is, it's never good enough. It could be the best work you've ever seen, but you will never admit it. Instead you find some way to critique it and make me feel like shit about it. Your holier than thou attitude about potions makes me sick!” she growled at him, sitting on one of the stools and resting her head on her hand as she wrote more notes. She hated that she had to admit how much she looked up to Snape. It made her feel vulnerable around him.
Severus slowly walked over and once he was close enough, leaned over to read what she was writing. He looked at a few other papers on the table before he picked one up and started reading it. She realized it was her Wolfsbane potion notes. He suddenly sat down and grabbed a quill from nearby and she growled upon seeing him writing something in the side margin. He smirked and handed her the parchment and she read it, blushing, and a small smile appeared on her face as the words sunk in. He smirked at her and she shook her head.
“Do not act like you know me Khira. There's more to me than you assume to know.”
“Could have fooled me.” He nodded at this and sighed.
“I'm going to go up to my room and read that book Alex gave me. Keep me informed on the status of the potion” he said and she nodded before he walked away. When he was at the door he stopped and she smirked when he said, “I think you're onto something with using the wolf's blood in each potion to tie it to their magical signatures.”
-Was that really that hard Khira?-
-Bite me Alex-
-Is that an offer?-
Khira heard her wife chuckle through the bond and smirked. She continued writing her notes as the potion brewed. After about twenty minutes it was finally finished and she smiled, seeing it come out the perfect color and consistency. She quickly moved it to a large glass vial and set it aside with a stasis charm on it for later tonight. When she turned around, she grabbed all of her papers and placed them into a stack. As she looked at them, she read the note Snape had made again and a smile appeared on her face.
Your work has always been more than good enough ~S
Later that evening they were all sitting at the table eating dinner and discussing the ritual. Everything was ready, but certain details needed to be talked over.
“As I stated last night, you two cannot let go of one another. Do the best you can to keep a hold on each other and not let go” Alex stated, looking at Draco and Hermione and they nodded.
“How supplied are we on potions?” Severus asked and Khira smirked.
“Three weeks worth of pain relief, one week of blood replenishing, and enough pepper up potions to last us until the spring” Khira replied, taking a drink of her wine, and he smirked “If we need anything else we can brew them rather quickly.”
“I also brought some potions from my private stock in case we needed them” she nodded and they turned back to Alex who was smiling lightly at the two of them, glad they were finally trying to get along.
“The ritual will begin at midnight, but we're not sure how long it is going to take for the magical exchange to happen, so you both could be up for hours. I would suggest you rest a little while beforehand so you're not falling asleep during it.”
“We can wake you guys up at eleven so you can be fully awake and changed into the robes and such. We're going to cast some warming charms on the circle so it's not freezing as well” Khira said and they nodded before finishing their meal.
Draco slowly turned over that night and opened his eyes, having felt his shoulder being shook. He looked up and found Khira staring back at him. She smiled and whispered it was time to get up and he nodded. As he turned over she lit the fireplace and it cast a soft glow around the room. She turned and nodded to him before placing two robes at the foot of the bed. He nudged the witch next to him and she groaned before turning towards him, slowly opening her eyes.
“It's time to wake up love” he said and she groaned.
“What time is it?” she asked and he cast a tempus spell to see it was almost 11:15PM.
“Khira brought us the robes and left them on the end of the bed” she nodded at this and sat up slowly.
The two of them stripped down and put the robes on before fastening them tightly around the waist to not reveal anything. Hermione sighed when she was done and sat down on the bed again. Draco felt her unease and walked over, kissing her shoulder and sitting next to her.
“Getting cold feet at the last minute?” he asked and she shook her head.
“I'm not very good with pain so I don't know how long I'll be able to stand it.”
“I'll help as much as I can Hermione” he said, taking her hand in his, and she nodded.
“Thank you” she said before they heard a knock at the door, and a second later Khira stepped back inside.
“Everything is set up and ready to go” she said, and they could see her eyes were watering slightly.
Draco stood up and walked over to her, enveloping her in a hug and the dam broke. He moved her to sit next to the fire and sat next to her. After a few minutes she stopped crying and she sighed, wiping her eyes.
“What's wrong Khira?” Hermione asked, walking over.
“I'm just worrying over nothing, that's all” she replied and Hermione looked at Draco questioningly.
“There's nothing to worry about Khira. We're going to be fine” Draco said and she nodded lightly.
“I know, but it is still going to fuck with Alex and me emotionally having to watch you endure this.”
“You said it yourself, the thirty minutes of hell you endured were worth the years you've had with Alex so far” Hermione said and she nodded with a smile before standing up.
“Let's get you both outside so we can be ready on time” she said and led them outside the back of the estate.
The cold winter air hit them like a shock of water and they both shuddered immediately before a warmth spread over them, Khira placing a warming charm on them. She guided them through the gardens and to the lake shore. Once there she led them along the shore and they noticed torches were lining the path. Eventually they came to a clearing by the side of the lake and Hermione gasped upon seeing the area.
There were various torches and candles laid out, giving the clearing a soft glow. On the ground was a circle lined in chalk and there was various runes and other symbols drawn inside it as well. They looked around the circle and noticed Alex and Snape both standing near what looked to be an altar. As they approached Alex turned to them and smiled, before walking over and hugging them both.
“These robes you both are wearing are not just robes. They have runes stitched into them that help you endure the ritual” she said and they nodded, “For your ritual, you will each give a drop of blood for the potion, then we will wrap your arms in the cord colors. After that we will bring over the potion and you both will drink half of it; the same as Khira and I did. Afterwards I will start saying the spell. We do not know how long the exchange will take but we will be here regardless if needed. We cannot however, touch either of you at any time during the exchange. I say this so you know beforehand.”
“We understand Alex” Hermione replied and she nodded.
“Let us begin then” she replied and they followed behind her.
Alex had them both kneel in the center of the circle, Draco facing east and Hermione facing west. Khira approached her with a chalice and they both recognized the potion inside it. Handing Draco a knife he sliced his palm and let a few drops drip into the cup, Hermione repeating the process a few moments later. She nodded and stepped back placing the chalice on the altar.
Alex stepped towards them and had them place their hands in front of them, Draco's palm side up, while Hermione gripped his arms from above. Placing her wand above their hands, she started chanting and they watched as red marks appeared on their skin in the form of runes, similar to Alex and Khira's. When she was done, Snape approached with six cords and she started wrapping their arms and hands together with each of them, explaining what they were all for. Red was used to symbolize strength and love for each other within the bond. Gold symbolized unity and longevity. Black was for their power and wisdom. Green provided health and fertility within the bond for the future. White meant devotion and purity of soul. As she took the final cord, a silver one, and started wrapping their hands tightly they felt a slight hum go through their body. They looked at her and she nodded, tying the last knot in the cord. As she stepped back the humming became a little more intense and they gasped.
“The humming is normal. It's your magic anticipating the ritual” Alex stated and they nodded, “From this point on I cannot touch either one of you. You are on your own after this. Let your bond, what was forged in time long ago and is absolute, be your guide.”
Hermione nodded and looked at Draco noticing his eyes were slightly glowing. He smiled at her and mouthed 'I love you' and she smiled back mouthing 'I love you too'. Alex looked at her watch and sighed telling them it was now midnight and they would begin. She turned back towards them with a chalice and they noticed it had changed from a dark brown to a mix of silver and gold. Khira had Hermione drink half of the potion, before having Draco drink the rest. Once he did he closed his eyes and felt a rush surge through his chest and his eyes flew open. Hermione then felt the same surge and when her eyes opened the others noticed her eyes were glowing a bright gold and Draco's were glowing silver. They looked down and noticed the runes were also glowing and pulsing a light red. They looked over as Alex raised her wand and she nodded to them both before they turned back to each other.
As they heard Alex start chanting the spell, Hermione gasped. She felt a heat rise in her chest and travel down her arms and through her fingers, before Draco gasped as it traveled into him. She then noticed it do the same to him and felt it travel up her arm and into her chest. Alex's chanting intensified and they both moaned lightly in pain as they felt the runes heat up on their arms and the pulses from before happen repeatedly but much stronger than before. Suddenly, Hermione cried out loudly as she felt an intense heat in her chest and watched her chest start glowing brightly before the glow traveled down her arms. It continued happening like this over and over again. The magic traveled from Hermione to Draco and vice versa. When Alex finished chanting the circle around them erupted in gold and silver flames.
Draco hissed as his chest burned but he kept his eyes on the witch in front of him. She was not taking the pain as well as he was. She was breathing hard and gripping his arms tightly trying to bare it. He felt a wind gust around them and looked down noticing they had started floating slightly. He held onto Hermione tightly but cried out in pain as the throbbing in his chest increased. Refusing to let go though, he held onto her as the pain became worse and worse by the minute.
“How long has it been Alex?” Khira asked and Alex looked at her watch seeing it had been nearly an hour, “Why is it taking so much longer for them?”
“I believe their magic is stronger than ours was” she said, watching the two in front of her worriedly.
“How much longer do you think they have to go?” Severus asked and she shook her head, before lowering her eyes as she heard Hermione scream loudly in pain.
“I don't know” she replied with tears in her eyes as she looked back up at the two teens, before seeing the younger witch hunch over as the two of them fell to the ground together.
“Is it done?” Snape asked and she nodded before Khira shared a look with him.
“We need to check on her” Khira said quietly before slowly approaching the two of them, “Draco?”
Draco looked at her and she heard him hiss lightly. She held up her hands to him and he frowned at her before she kneeled next to him.
“Draco I'm not going to touch her, but I need you to tell me if she's alright. We need to make sure” she said and he nodded, looking back at Hermione.
“She still has a pulse, but I can barely feel it” he said through labored breath.
“Draco focus on her, and tell me what you feel beyond that.”
“She passed out. The final surge became too much for her and she couldn't handle it” he replied before he also passed out.
“Alex! Severus! Come quickly!” she yelled and they rushed over, “We need to move them back to the house quickly and get some potions in them. Hermione passed out from the pain just like I did. Draco is just exhausted.”
“Let's move them as fast as we can. Remember don't separate them” Alex said and sniffed upon seeing Draco's arms were coated in blood and feeling her throat dry slightly.
“Can we touch them now or should we still avoid contact?” Snape asked.
“We can but very minimal.”
“Let me take them upstairs to their room and get them cleaned up. While I do that you go hunt” he said and she shook her head, “Lexi, they both are covered in blood. You need to get your hunger under control before helping me. Go hunt and afterwards you can help.”
“Alex, we'll take care of them, you go take care of your hunger” Khira said and she snarled before nodding and dashing away into the woods.
They slowly levitated them back to the house before quickly moving them upstairs. Once there they scorgified the blood off of them and placed them on the bed. Snape went to grab the potions while Khira dressed them in their pajamas with a wave of her wand, making sure not to move them apart. She noticed they were both sweating and upon doing a diagnostic spell realized they both had a fever. Cursing under her breath she went to the bathroom looking for a fever reducing potion in the cabinet, but was unable to find it. Hearing Snape return she walked out and started searching through the potions he had brought with him.
“We need a fever reducer. They're both burning up” she said and he nodded, looking through his potion bag before cursing himself.
“I didn't bring any with me.”
“Gippy!” the elf appeared next to Khira, “Go get me 6 vials of fever reducer from my cabinet downstairs.”
“Right away Madam” the elf replied, popping away before appearing a second later with the vials and placing them on the table with the other potions, “If you need any more potions just let me know Madam.”
“I'll take care of Draco's. You handle Ms. Granger's” Snape said as he grabbed one of the vials, handing her one as well. He moved over to Draco and gave him one of the vials while Khira gave Hermione the other one. After a few moments she ran another diagnostic spell and noticed the fever was starting to go down slowly.
“Thank Merlin” she replied, just as the door opened and Alex entered.
“I found a wild boar on the edge of the lake” she said and Khira nodded, “How are they so far?”
“They had a fever but we gave them each a potion. Their cores are intact but they used a lot of their magic so they are both extremely drained. It could take a few days before we see any improvement. I think it best to keep them in a magical coma for the first three days to allow their cores time to strengthen.”
“Let's do that and ward the room. No one but us three or Gippy enters or leaves” she said and they started working on setting everything up. Once they were done they left just the fire going in the room as light and went to sleep.
The following Saturday, Alex was pacing back and forth outside of their room. They had lifted the magical coma from them after the third day but they still had not woken up. The fever had returned twice now but they were both stable now. She was starting to worry but Khira reassured her they were both fine, just still slightly drained. Khira was currently checking on them and it was driving Alex mad because her wife had blocked her from her mind.
“Enough!” she flinched when a pair of hands grabbed her shoulder and stopped her from pacing.
“Let go of me Sev” she growled but he tightened his grip.
“I will not! You need to stop this Alex!” he replied, turning her to face him “They need time to regain their strength and then they will wake up. Until then all we can do is wait.”
“They should have woken up by now!”
“They took nearly twice as long as you and Khira took to complete their ritual, and you woke up in three days. You also had the vampire blood helping you both heal. They do not have that, so of course it will take longer” he said, and she sighed.
“I wish they would wake up already though.”
“They will wake up. We just need to be patient” he said and she nodded, “Come with me downstairs and have a drink. Seems like you need one.”
“I'm not the one who needs to get drunk and get laid” she said and he sneered at her, before they both walked away from the room.
Inside the bedroom Khira sighed as she looked over the diagnostic spell. She'd been blocking Alex from her mind while she ran the test because she didn't want her worrying. The two teens should wake up any day now. Their cores were completely regenerated, but they would still be in pain for another week or so. She moved over to move the covers further up on Draco's side when suddenly she heard a growl as a hand grabbed her arm and she jumped, staring up into grey eyes.
“Welcome back Draco” she said smiling, and he released her arm.
“What day is it?” he asked and she slowly sat next to him.
“You've been asleep for a little over a week” she replied and he nodded, pulling his mate closer, “She's still not woken up.”
“She'll be awake by morning” he said and she nodded “Do I still need to be in contact with her?”
“I know why you're asking and as long as you're quick, it should be fine” she replied and he blushed, nodding before standing up.
Khira used the time he was out of the bed to run an additional diagnostic spell on Hermione and saw her vitals were getting better. She pulled the cover up around her just as Draco returned, climbing back in the bed and pulling his mate close to him.
“You still need more rest” she replied and leaned over, kissing his forehead.
“Good night Khira.”
Khira left the room and walked down to the foyer. She found Severus and Alex there, smiling at them both. Alex looked at her and raised her eyebrow before Khira dropped the mental walls. She felt the flood of emotions from her wife and rushed over, wrapping her arms around her.
“Draco woke up” Alex said, letting out a sigh of relief and Snape chuckled.
“I told you to be patient” he replied, tossing back his drink and pouring another.
“You were worried about him as well Sev” she replied, and he smirked at her, “You can be a brick wall to everyone else, but to me, you're as clear as glass.”
He humphed at her and downed his drink, placing the glass on the table in front of him. Standing up he nodded to Khira and walked upstairs. They heard the click of his bedroom door a few moments later.
“If only we could break through that shell of his” Khira stated, sitting next to Alex.
“The man seriously needs to get laid” Alex said with a laugh but noticed the odd look Khira gave her, “What?”
“You going to find him a hooker to sleep with? He will not sleep with anyone else willingly.”
“Actually, I've probed his mind a few times and you're wrong on that. He will sleep with two people, but it's complicated” she said, showing Khira the thought she pulled from Snape.
“Are you serious?!” she gasped.
“I know love. It stunned me too.”
“Well that's never going to happen” she said and Alex laughed at her.
“If it does, all parties involved would have to be highly intoxicated.”
After she said this the two of them looked at each other and couldn't help laughing. She poured Khira a drink and the two of them sat down on the couch, just having a bit of time to themselves.
The following morning, Draco woke up slowly and stared at the witch laying next to him. He watched her as she slept and kissed her shoulder. However, once his lips made contact with hers he felt a pain in his head and watched as memories flashed in front of his eyes. The first was Hermione being called a freak at school when she threw a bully across the playground in anger. After that it shifted to her watching him call her a mudblood for the first time in second year, but he felt her pain and shock upon hearing him say it. Then he saw her punching him in third year and her joy at putting him in his place. Finally the memories shifted to the day they danced at the club last and the happiness she felt being in his arms that night. As the final memory ended he felt a wave of nausea hit him and he headed as fast as he could for the loo. After he got his stomach under control he splashed cold water on his face and dried it with a towel, before heading back into the room. He stopped the second he came back in and noticed the golden, glowing eyes looking right at him from the bed.
“How long were we asleep?” she asked weakly.
“A little over a week love. Are you able to sit up?”
“I can try” she said, trying to do so, but her arms giving out halfway.
“Don't push yourself Hermione. We both need to rest” he said and she looked at him, wondering how long he'd been awake “I woke up last night. Wait! did you just think that?”
“Yes I did” she replied, before looking at him and smirking, seeing if she could project an image into his mind and he gasped.
“That's not very nice love. Once we're able, I'm making you pay for that” he growled and she giggled.
“I can't wait” she said when he crawled into the bed next to her, before there was a knock at the door.
Khira entered the room and smiled upon seeing them both awake. She walked over and hugged them both tightly. When she let them go she waved her wand over them both and smiled as she noticed their cores were regenerated completely and energy levels were stabilizing. She sat down on the bed at their feet and smiled at them both, telling Alex she could come into the room. Immediately the door opened and they snickered upon seeing her unease.
“Their cores are stable, and they both seem to be doing well on pain but I'm going to give them each a dose of pain relief before we leave” Khira explained and Alex nodded, “So notice anything different yet?”
“We can definitely read each others minds, and I was able to project something into Draco's.”
“That's to be expected. It's a common trait, but I am unsure if it will be permanent” Alex said, sitting next to Khira.
“What about seeing memories?” Draco asked and her eyes focused only on him.
“What do you mean?”
“Right before she woke up I kissed her shoulder and saw a bunch of her old memories” Draco explained and Hermione looked at him in shock.
“I saw a bunch of your memories as well just before I woke up” she sat up slowly and looked at him.
“It's like the two of you read each other's pasts” Alex said and they nodded.
“Aren't seers able to do that?” Hermione asked and they chuckled.
“You mean like the ones at a muggle carnival? It's not the same thing” Khira snickered, “I think it was your seer abilities being unbalanced due to the ritual, but I don't think its a gift you both will share.”
“Draco kiss her now and see if it happens again” Alex said.
He nodded and pulled Hermione close, pressing a kiss to her shoulder. He noted there was no memories, and turned and shook his head, Alex nodding to him.
“If it happens again, we are going to work on that. Your bond is one of a kind so there's bound to be a few things we never expected.”
“You both need to rest though. Its obvious that you're still not strong enough to be out of bed. We'll have Gippy bring you guys something to eat as well as some pain relief potions. Then once you're done with those you both can rest. We'll be back up later” Khira stated and they both nodded.
Draco waited until the two vampires were out of the room before pulling her close and crashing his lips against hers. There was a small flash of light and he sighed, resting his head against hers. She smiled and gasped when she noticed the almost transparent runes dotting his arms. Looking down at her own she noticed the same runes, but it was like they mirrored his. She smiled at this and curled closer to him, running her fingers over a few of the runes on his chest.
-How are you feeling love?-
“Bloody hell! That is going to take some getting used to” she jumped as he spoke to her through the link and looked at him before smiling, “I'm fine Draco.”
“I'm surprised Severus hasn't been up here yet to get his own opinion on us” he said, just as there was a knock on the door, “Speak of the damn devil.”
The door opened and Severus walked in. What surprised Hermione the most about his appearance was that he was wearing a black button up dress shirt and trousers. It was very different than what he normally was seen wearing.
“I'm surprised you've gone casual while here Severus. It's been a long time since I've seen you do that” Draco replied and the man shrugged.
“How are you feeling?” he looked between them.
“Tired and still adjusting to the changes.”
“Are you having any residual pain?” he asked before the door opened and Khira charged in.
“Damn it Severus! We said they were fine, so leave them be and let them rest!” she grabbed his arm and pulled him towards the door, turning to them “Rest well you two.”
Once the door shut the two couldn't help it and started laughing. When Gippy arrived with their food, the small elf told them there was also a dreamless sleep potion included with the pain relief. They thanked her before they ate slowly downing the potions afterwards. As they both laid back down they sighed and fell into a dreamless sleep.
