Chapter 21
The new headquarters of the Order of the Phoenix was located in Mould-on-the Wold. It wasn’t the first time the members of the Order were meeting there, but considering its location and protection wards, it was not as good as the previous headquarters in London. The number of members of the order was slowly rising. One of the problems was that not all of them were well trained in duelling, in case there was a need for them to fight with Voldemort’s followers. Some of them, especially those who were aurors, saw this as one of the major problems unfortunately it wasn’t the only thing they were struggling with. Even though more magical folks supported them, there were still not enough people to fulfil all Albus’ plans. All of them were practically leading two lives at the moment – the one everyone knew about and the second life, they had to hide from the Ministry, because Cornelius Fudge had his private secret fight against Dumbledore and everyone who agreed with him. Such situation was acceptable for most of them at the beginning, when they thought Voldemort would act more openly and quickly. However nothing like that has happened so far.
“Albus, maybe I shouldn’t be saying this,” started Molly Weasley, who was starting to get a bit annoyed by the fact that her family was falling apart, because of the amount of work they were doing for the Order. “After all I’m mostly just participating in these meetings, but I know how much time and energy it costs Arthur and Bill to do their regular job as well as guard the prophecy in the Ministry.”
Nobody said anything, but most of the people present in the room simply nodded in agreement that secretly guarding the entrance to the Hall of Prophecies is putting a huge strain on their normal life. The fact was that for the last five or so months, no one even tried to get near that place, not to mention steal the prophecy about the Dark Lord and his Vanquisher.
“I’m aware that this prophecy is very important, but are we sure it’s absolutely necessary to protect it?” continued Mrs Weasley. “Are Death Eaters even interested in acquiring that prophecy?...What I’m trying to say is that for everyone who’s guarding it, it’s very risky. They are all…or most of them are Ministry employees and if someone catches them snooping around Department of Mysteries at nights that’s going to have enormous consequences.”
“It wouldn’t be the first time one of us gets into a fight with aurors while keeping watch over the Hall of Prophecies,” added Tonks. She was an auror herself and if she was caught there while doing something for the Order, Fudge would probably sent her to Azkaban for a few months; if not longer.
Albus sat in his chair with calm look and his usual grandfatherly smile on his face. He understood Molly’s reasoning, but he thought that their cause required sacrifices. The wizard was about to explain to them once more that Voldemort would do anything to find out the whole content of the prophecy, but he was interrupted by Minerva.
“Severus,” McGonagall asked the potions master. “You’re attending their every meeting…you must have heard something about this. Is Lord Voldemort truly interested in this prophecy?”
‘Only thing he’s interested nowadays is Regulus and their unborn baby,’ was the comment that ran through Severus’ mind. He stopped himself from making any sarcastic comments out loud and answered his fellow teacher, “To be honest I haven’t heard the Dark Lord or his followers mention that prophecy even once. So far all their meetings focus on discussing how the wizarding community should be rearranged and how to free some of their family members from Azkaban. The subject that does come up very often though, is how to weaken Albus’ position in the community.”
“Not surprising at all,” commented Dumbledore with a fake smile. He looked at everyone in the room and continued. “Lord Voldemort is afraid of us and afraid of me, because we’re keeping young Ha-…I mean, Orion…young Orion away from him. He knows part of the prophecy; he knows Orion is going to defeat him that’s why he wants him dead. He thinks he will find answers how to stop our Saviour in that prophecy, that’s why we have to continue guarding it. We will protect the Boy-Who-Lived. I will keep protecting young Orion the way I always have.”
Most of them were uplifted with Dumbledore’s statement, but Sirius was about to explode. Hearing those empty words coming from the old headmaster made him only furious; he wanted nothing more than to bash Albus’ head on the table for lying straight in their faces, but just when he was about to say something Remus grabbed his hand, which was already formed into a fist. Sirius glanced at his friend and then at Tonks, who were secretly showing him to calm down. He knew they were right. It wasn’t the time to act like this. He needed to wait patiently for the right moment when they would bring Dumbledore all the way down.
“However to crush Lord Voldemort’s plans we still have to recruit more members to the order. Most importantly, we might need help from international magical community more than we were thinking,” continued Albus and looked at Arthur, Molly and Bill. “I take it that Charlie is negotiating with the Romanian wizarding families?”
“He had to go back to Romania to work,” Mr Weasley answered evasively. He understood and accepted his son’s choice, but he felt uncomfortable to say it out loud that Charlie didn’t intend to work for the Order anymore.
“Dragons will always be there waiting for him, but now he has to help here,” protested Moody.
“He already tried convincing wizards and witches there, but they will not support us until the most influential, Romanian, pureblood families show their support,” explained Bill. “Those communities have their own traditions…sometimes very different from our own. Abroad they are all asking the same question…what are the Order’s goals?”
“Isn’t that obvious? The goal is to save magical world from the Dark Lord!” said indignant Elphias Dodge.
“That much is clear for them,” said again Bill. “But they want to know what happens later. What plans for the future does the Order have? They won’t support a group that doesn’t have any vision of what comes after the war, especially that they don’t necessarily disagree with everything Voldemort stands for.”
“Honestly?! They don’t mind Voldemort attacking anyone who doesn’t obey him?” protested Tonks, who still couldn’t get over the fact that Remus was attacked during his last mission. “He supported werewolves last time, but now when a group of them wants to coexist peacefully with the wizarding community then he suddenly decides to attack them! Is that the person they want to follow? Those are the ideals they support?”
Indeed the attack on the werewolves was still a very fragile topic. Even in the Ministry there was an investigation on that case. The members of the Order were devastated that Remus suffered in it too, but none of them brought up that subject earlier. However Sirius was delighted that Nymphadora brought it up. The Dark Lord instructed him to try and sway his werewolf friend on their side using this unfortunate attack, especially that Voldemort was absolutely certain that the attack was once more a result of Dumbledore’s meddling.
“I’m afraid this matter is more complicated and mysterious than we previously thought,” interrupted calmly Severus. “I have it on good authority that neither Lord Voldemort nor any of his Death Eaters put a hand to that attack. The Dark Lord still highly values werewolves and finds it objectionable to kill them.”
The last week was very busy for Orion. He had lots of classes to catch up with, but also finally start studying for this year’s OWLs. He already made up his mind what career he’d like to choose and he even had a chat with professor McGonagall about his choice. His Head of House was a bit surprised that instead of being an auror, Orion decided to become a Curse Breaker. Although after the initial shock, the witch didn’t try to convince him otherwise; after all, only the really brave and bright witches and wizards could become Curse Breakers.
Regardless of the official requirements for future Curse Breakers, young Black had his own goals and plans to achieve. Although he admired Bill Weasley for his work for the Gringott’s, he didn’t intend to work for the goblins. Inspired by many conversations with his fathers and Draco, Orion decided that this career showed many opportunities to gain bigger income for the family fortune; especially now, that he needed money to invest in his big, family business. He still haven’t told anyone details of those plans, but he was certain that the Blacks would benefit in a longer run out of this particular idea. He just had to consult it with other family members and the Dark Lord.
Today, as was his habit now, he spent entire afternoon in the library. Most of all he was working on his Arithmancy, Ancient Runes, Potions and Charms. He definitely didn’t want to end up with poor marks from those exams this year. He also wanted to practice for DADA class, but so far, Moody’s methods haven’t changed since he left for St. Mungo’s. If anything, his classes became even more dangerous which didn’t really help him to focus and actually learn something. Orion even considered asking Draco to let him join the secret training sessions he was having with Slytherins, but for the time being he had to postpone it, until he caught up with everything and Snakes start to trust him.
“I will be taking these books with me,” he informed Madam Pince. The teen waited patiently for the grumpy witch to register all the books he wanted to take to his dorm. However at the same time he had an odd feeling that someone was watching him. He looked around, but didn’t see anything suspicious. The only ones he could see sitting at the table not far from him were Crabbe, Goyle and Nott. Theodore stood up and rushed his classmates to gather their things and leave the library with him. Normally Orion wouldn’t even care about those three, but he saw them entering the library shortly after he got there and this whole time they looked like they were pretending to study; and now they were leaving exactly at the same time he was.
“Here you go…your books,” informed him the librarian and walked away to check on other students.
Orion thanked her and quickly got out. He walked to the Gryffindor Tower, but kept glancing every now and then to check if the three Slytherins were indeed following him. He sighed relieved when Nott and his friends turned into a different direction, however around the other corner he spotted the Greengrass sisters.
‘What is going on here?’ he thought to himself and continued walking to his common room. ‘It’s not even like they usually walk around this part of the castle so what are they doing here?...Are they spying on me or what?’
Deciding he needed to ask Draco what was wrong with all those Snakes following him, he entered Gryffindor Tower. The moment he got into the common room he hear a fight. He quickly spotted Ron and Dean arguing about something at the stairs leading to the dorms. Orion didn’t focus on the reason for their fight, because he was stunned to actually see those two arguing so fiercely.
“Oh my, that’s a lot of books,” commented surprised Hermione as soon as Orion sat by the fireplace, next to her. The witch was excited that finally she wasn’t the only one who took education seriously and she could discuss Arithmancy and other interesting topics with her friend. “I’m sure you haven’t fallen that far behind,” she laughed teasing him about the impressive pile of books from the library.
“Wasn’t it you who always told us to study more?” Orion smiled to her and glanced one more time at the two boys fighting in the background. “Do I want to know what they are fighting about?”
“Well…” the witch got lost in her thoughts for a moment, contemplating whether she should tell him that Ginny has a crush on him and because of that Dean broke up with her, or not. In the end she decided she wasn’t the one who should tell it to Orion so she skipped the details, “Long story short…Ginny and Dean got into yet another fight which ended with Dean breaking up with her. Ginny stormed out of the room and Ron is now being a loving brother standing in his sister’s defence.”
“Oh,” was all he was able to say. Sometimes he thought it would be great to have sibling like Ron, but at moments like these he thought it had also its bad sides. “By the way, Hermione, I’ve heard you’re all spending winter break with me and dad in London.”
“Yes, well…it would be nice especially after we didn’t see you for two weeks,” she said hesitantly.
“What’s wrong, ‘Mione? If you’re worried about OWLs, then we can study together during holidays. I intend to do my best during exams too, you know,” Orion tried to make it sound like a joke, although he really planned to pass every exams with good marks.
Seeing that something was wrong and that Hermione was hiding something from him, Orion tried to nicely persuade her to tell him what was bothering her. Luckily for him, the girl gave in after a few moments and told him the same thing she told Ron about her parents and future sister. She felt bad about throwing her own problems on her friend’s shoulders, but to her surprise Orion didn’t seem to mind at all.
“Why didn’t you tell me sooner, Hermione? That’s great news! You should definitely go home for holidays and enjoy your time with your family,” the black haired teen told her honestly.
“But…won’t you be mad that I turned your invitation down?” in all honesty, Hermione knew Orion would understand her, but she was more concerned about professor Dumbledore’s reaction; especially after he specifically asked her and the Weasleys to keep an eye on Orion during winter break.
“Are you kidding, Hermione? Your family is your priority…I understand that better than anyone after everything that happened this last year,” he said sincerely. “Especially when you’re going to become an older sister, you should enjoy time with your family. I’d love to have siblings too, but well…since I don’t have any then I’m just enjoying time with my dad. Besides, if you find some time during holidays then we can meet up at Diagon Alley. Honestly, you shouldn’t worry about it, ‘Mione.”
“You’re the best, Orion!” the witch felt better now that she had her friend’s approval to go home for Christmas. She couldn’t help herself but wrap her arms around Orion’s neck and keep thanking him for being a wonderful friend.
“Look, George. We have another lovey-dovey couple here,” Fred said teasingly and leaned over Orion and Hermione.
“So much romance in Gryffindor lately,” said George, knowing that it would make Hermione blush and feel uncomfortable.
“So much drama,” finished Fred and laughed.
“That’s not what it…,” the witch tried protesting, but the twins only grinned widely seeing her reaction. “You two are just so childish! Even more than Ronald!”
“You love teasing her, don’t you?” asked Orion as soon as Hermione stormed out of the common room.
“We can’t help it,” said Fred.
“It’s too cute to see her blush and furious at the same time,” explained George.
“Besides, she and Ronniekins will end up together sooner or later. I’m gonna bet our future shop on it,” announced Fred and his brother nodded in agreement.
“Speaking of your future shop,” said Orion. “I wanted to talk with you two. Tell me more about your plans for this…future shop of yours.”
“Want to be our business partner?” asked amused, yet still interested Fred.
“Maybe,” the black haired teen answered enigmatically and smirked. That however, seemed encouraging enough for the twins, who immediately started explaining their business plans.
One morning, about a week or so before Christmas, Sirius was walking around his house at Grimmauld Place and once more checking if everything was prepared for the upcoming winter break. Remus left very early that day, which gave Sirius enough time to do a thorough inspection of the house. He didn’t change much since summer, when his ancestral house became headquarters of the Order, but now with the perspective of Weasleys, and who knows who else, visiting them during Christmas, Black preferred to double check everything. With the situation between the Order and Voldemort getting more and more difficult, Sirius simply couldn’t allow any failures or mistakes.
When he was certain every family secret was secured and hidden, he went to his old bedroom and decided to clean it up a bit. He already moved to his parents’ bedroom and intended to tidy his former room to give it to Orion when he comes back from Hogwarts. Sirius worked on removing the posters that always irritated his mother; then he cleaned all the dust and transfigured old wallpapers and bedsheets to something neutral.
“Seems about right,” he commented to himself pleased of his work. The now neutral interior of the room should give the teen enough freedom to decorate it the way he preferred. In all honesty, Sirius didn’t feel very well at this particular house; he had much better memories with the Edinburgh house, but so far it seemed his family would have to stay at Grimmauld Place. And if that was the case, Sirius wanted his son to at least enjoy decorating his very first room, that belonged only to him.
“Took you a few years, but mother and father would be proud to see that you’ve finally cleaned your bedroom,” Black turned around and he was met with the sight of Regulus nonchalantly leaning on the doorframe.
“Seems like my nephew or niece is making you cheekier than ever, brother,” Sirius grinned amused by Regulus’ good mood. He walked over to him and gently pulled him into an embrace.
“I take it Severus told you the good news, then,” the younger man laughed heartily and patted his brother on the back.
“Of course he did. I also have to tell you that I’m honestly happy for you…and your husband,” congratulated him Sirius, but the hesitation with the last part of the sentence didn’t go unnoticed. Seeing a frown on Regulus’ face, older wizard rushed with explanations, “Don’t get me wrong. I truly believe now that you and your husband are a good match for each other…I even believe that he cares about you, but it’s always going to be unsettling for me to think of my little brother’s…sex life. No matter who your lover is.”
“Well it was equally unsettling to listen to your and Severus’ moans when you moved in here after graduation. I guess that now we’re even,” teased him Regulus. “More importantly…I got your message that you had something important to tell me. Is everything alright or does the Order suspect you?”
“Nothing that bad,” assured him Sirius and gestured to his brother to take a seat. “Two things came up. First of all, you mentioned the Dark Lord is looking for something to clean his reputation at least to some extent. I don’t know the details, but Orion told me he has an idea for a business that will definitely restore greatness of our family and the public opinion will love this initiative.”
“Interesting,” said Regulus and subconsciously rested one hand on his abdomen. “Good thing Orion takes cunning after Severus. However…is he going to be willing for my husband to be involved in this business?”
“I’m not sure. After all, he doesn’t know that Voldemort is actually his uncle,” Sirius couldn’t help, but laugh hearing his own words. “Although he asked me to help him organise a meeting with you and the Dark Lord to discuss his plan.”
“Hmmm, indeed my nephew is an intriguing and extraordinary young wizard,” commented younger Black. “One can never be sure what to expect from him.”
“Very true…which leads me to the other matter that I wanted to talk with you about,” said Sirius, but his expression immediately became full of concern. “Orion is the rightful heir of the Black family. I know he’s proud of it and will want to fulfil his duties as expected of him, even though it is not his dream and ambition to be the heir.”
“I’m not sure I follow,” interrupted Regulus. “I didn’t drink the pregnancy potion in order to question Orion’s right to inherit. That was never my nor Tom’s intention.”
“I’m not suggesting that,” said Sirius and rubbed his forehead nervously, not sure how to explain what he had in mind. “I’m far from dictating who is going to be the next head of the family, but I do have to think of a situation when my son might not be able to be the heir. I’m not going to make that decision for him, but I have eyes and I see that his priorities are changing…that’s why I wanted you to know that if you have a son…”
“Stop,” protested Regulus and walked over to his brother. He placed a hand on his shoulder and said, “You’re overthinking things. I’ve happy that you don’t want to fight over our children’s inheritance, but this is too soon to talk about those things. No matter what Orion or my child decide to do with their future, we’ll find a way to keep the family and bloodline safe. For now, let Orion have his fun and freedom. As for this one,” he smiled and placed a hand on his abdomen again. “First, let this little one get safely into this world.”
“Maybe you’re right,” Sirius smiled to himself seeing his brother’s subconscious moves, like touching his belly even though there were still no signs of pregnancy yet. “I just want this ridiculous game of appearances to end. I wish to enjoy peaceful family life with my husband, son, you and your family.”
“We will get there, brother. In the meantime, I’ll arrange the meeting Orion requested sometime during winter break, but I suppose you’d have to explain to him who the Dark Lord really is for him,” younger Black smiled to him and headed to the door. He already stayed longer than he planned and Tom was probably going out of his mind right now. Just before he disappeared on the corridor, he turned back to look at Sirius and said with a teasing smirk, “But speaking of the future…who knows, maybe Orion will have a baby brother or sister too…you never know what the future holds.”
“So cheeky,” Sirius sighed again, but when Regulus’ words sank in and he smiled to himself thinking about it. “…Maybe…if Severus wants that too.”
It was the last weekend before winter break and to make things even better it was a Hogsmeade weekend. Most students decided to use that time to look for their last minute Christmas gifts. However not everyone was in such a good mood that day.
“What’s wrong, mate? You’ve been in a foul mood all day,” asked Ron a bit surprised and annoyed by his friend’s behaviour. It was definitely not Orion’s day - ever since he got up this morning he’s been grumpy and unsatisfied with everything; he went through every shop in Hogsmeade looking for some mysterious gift, but he couldn’t find anything to his liking. “Seriously mate…we’ve even been to Dogweed and Deathcap, and Tomes and Scrolls! I mean…what are you looking for? It’s not like you’d go to those shops out of your own free will.”
“Instead of complaining you should take example of him, Ronald,” commented sternly Hermione taking a seat with her two friends at The Three Broomsticks Inn. “OWLs are coming up and you haven’t even started revising the material.”
“But Hermione! We still have a few months till exams and besides, it’s not like I’m planning to continue with subjects like Potions,” protested Ron and added with a snort, “As if Snape ever allowed us to take his advanced classes.”
Orion flinched hearing his friend’s words. Recently he noticed he felt wounded whenever someone referred to the potions master as ‘Snape’ or showed no respect towards the man. The teen was aware that a year ago he’d be the first person to treat the potions master like that, but now everything has changed. He didn’t feel ready yet to tell everyone the true relation between him and Severus, but at the same time he had to fight the urge to defend his father. Thankfully, he managed to hide his reaction from his friends. The two of them were completely engaged in the conversation about exams, education and future. Orion wasn’t interested in it at all; he already set his mind on his idea to become the Curse Breaker and starting the ‘family business’.
He decided not to get involved in the conversation and wait until they were done. Instead, his thoughts drifted off to his most recent problem. Ever since his dream about Draco, he was having more and more of those dreams. Sometimes those were innocent and meaningless things like Malfoy choosing some Slytherin girls and leaving him behind. Of course those types of dreams left Orion sad and worried that indeed at some point Draco might start showing more interest in girls and that would mean he would have to allow his blond cousin more space to court his potential future wife. However most of the times Orion was having more disturbing dreams; ones in which he found himself sleeping in Draco’s bed or searching for the blond’s attention and touch. There wouldn’t be anything wrong with those dreams, especially since last summer the two of them fall asleep in the same bed many times, however now the thought of doing that left Orion with a mild hard-on. Black already got to terms with the fact that he had two fathers, but he still thought that there might be something not completely right with him having such thoughts about other men; and most of all, his cousin.
This morning he had another one of those dreams which resulted in his very bad mood that day. The fact that he was desperately trying to find a proper gift for Severus didn’t help either. He knew the man was passionate about potions, but Orion didn’t know his father well enough to be sure he’d be happy to get something potions related under the Christmas tree.
“You should still try to do your best in Potions. Even if it’s just to prove professor Snape that you can do it,” Hermione still tried to convince Ron to study harder for the exams.
Orion sighed heavily, knowing it was a lost case to make Ron study potions, and looked around the inn. The place was really crowded today and there were almost no free tables left. Not far from them sat other Gryffindors chatting about Quidditch and the winter break, but then he felt as if someone was staring at him. He carefully scanned the room and finally his eyes met cold grey ones looking straight at him. There, in the far end of the inn sat Draco with some of his housemates. They were all chatting, but the blond didn’t seem interested in the conversation at all. Instead, he was starring right at Orion with a little smirk forming on his lips, which Black knew was Draco’s version of a smile sent his way. Orion felt wave of heat hitting him and his hands became sweaty. In just seconds he was reminded of his most recent dream about Draco. Black swallowed hard and calmed himself down not to draw anyone’s attention. He decided the best way to stop his ridiculous thoughts would be to have a normal chat with his cousin so he stood up and walked over to the blond.
“What is he doing?” asked a group of Gryffindor girls, who just a few weeks ago formed sort of informal fan group of Orion Black. They were following the boy’s every step and sighing whenever he smiled to them. Ron and Hermione really wanted to smack those girls on the head for acting like that, but as Prefects they couldn’t do such things. Instead, their gaze followed Orion, who was now happily discussing something with Malfoy. The two of them looked very much at ease in each other’s presence. Both of them acted very formal; like most purebloods did, but there was also something in their behaviour that made everyone jealous of this special bond they had. “Why is he being friendly with Malfoy and other Snakes? He’s a Gryffindor after all!”
“But they are cousins,” Neville reasoned, but it only caused even more idiotic speculations.
“He’s starting to act like the rest of them,” whispered some second year Hufflepuff boys, sitting not far from Hermione and Ron. “He even has similar gestures like Malfoy.”
“You’re right. We should probably be more careful now…just like Moody told us,” agreed some Hufflepuff girl.
“But he’s gorgeous. He’d never be like those awful Slytherins,” one of Orion’s young fangirls tried protesting.
“I’m not saying that he’s evil,” explained the girl from before. “But he is a pureblood…he’s a Black and very close with the Malfoys…if they decide to move forward with their plans of getting rid of the Muggleborns and Half-bloods, do you think he’ll be able to stand up to them?”
Hearing the conversation getting more and more ridiculous, Ron decided it was time to step in and defend his friend. He knew Orion well enough and he was certain the teen would never support the pureblood supremacy ideas. Meantime, Hermione was deep in her thoughts. The last sentence of those students especially caught her attention – Orion was a good person and her friend, but what if his family really forced him to support their plans of getting rid of Muggleborns like herself? Would Orion still be her friend and defend her or would he demand her to hand over her wand and leave the magical world?
“Are you alright, Hermione? You look pale?” the witch looked up startled and saw Orion’s smiling face. She didn’t notice he was done talking with Draco and walking back to their table.
“Yes…yes I’m fine,” she forced a weak smile and asked, “What were you talking about with Malfoy?”
“I’m sorry I left you here, but I just saw him there and I realised he’s the best person to help me acquire exactly what I need for the Christmas gift.”
“Oh, I see,” the girl muttered. “Is he going to help you then?”
“Yes he is,” announced Orion and with a satisfied face he reached out for his butter beer.
Finally the first day of winter break has come and most of the students from Hogwarts were travelling back to London. At Platform 9 ¾ parents were already gathering to meet with their children. For Sirius this was the first time when he was officially picking up his son from the train station and he couldn’t contain his joy. He couldn’t sit in one place the entire day; he simply wanted to finally enjoy a perfect family holidays.
He dressed up in elegant clothes, earning a praise from his mother’s portrait, when he was leaving Grimmauld Place. Sirius was a bit of a show off, he couldn’t help it, but also he knew that it was important for Orion to be a proper heir of the Blacks, so Sirius decided he should also dress and behave like a responsible father. At the platform he met with Remus and the Weasleys, who were supposed to spend holidays at Grimmauld Place.
“That’s an impressive sight,” Remus teased his friend about his irreproachable behaviour. “Such a perfect pureblood wizard. Making your family proud Sirius?”
“As if I could ever be an example of a perfect pureblood wizard,” snorted Black. “I’m just trying to be a respected and responsible father.”
Lupin couldn’t help it and let out a muffled laugh seeing how serious his friend was. He never thought he’d see Sirius being responsible instead of rash and always eager to prank others. However, he was also happy to see that getting back his son brought back life and purpose into Sirius’ life.
“Here they come,” announced Mr Weasley and smiled to his wife seeing the Hogwarts Express arriving at the platform.
Shortly after that the train has stopped and students started pouring out of it. There was a commotion with parents calling to their children and greeting them, while students were trying to get all of their belongings out. Molly Weasley quickly spotted Ginny, Ron and the twins and excitedly rushed their way. Mr Weasley smiled and calmly followed his wife. Sirius and Remus did exactly the same, knowing that Orion would be there as well.
“Mum, Dad…were is Bill? Wasn’t he supposed to be here for holidays?” asked Ron searching for his eldest brother.
“He’s going to visit us later…with Fleur,” answered Mrs Weasley in a strained voice and hurried her children towards exit.
“Good evening Mrs Weasley…Mr Weasley,” Orion politely greeted his friends’ parents. The two of them greeted him as well, but by their expressions it was clear that they were surprised. This was the first time they have seen Orion after the ritual; so far they knew how he looked like only from their children’s letters. This boy in front of them was indeed a spitting image of Sirius; his looks, behaviour and new fancy clothes made him look like an exemplary pureblood family heir.
“Dear Morgana! I almost didn’t recognize you, dear,” said Mrs Weasley and as usual pulled Orion into a tight embrace, nearly suffocating the teen. “I’m so glad you’re alright after everything that happened the last few months.”
“Mum, he can’t breathe,” laughed George and Fred watching the scene in front of them.
“Father,” when Molly let him go, Orion addressed his dad very formally and walked over to him. Sirius placed one hand proudly on the teen’s shoulder and smiled at him, but soon enough he couldn’t stop himself and also pulled him into an embrace.
“Welcome back, son.”
“Dad, you’re hugging me and making a scene,” whispered the boy, but even he had to admit that honestly he was glad by such a welcome.
“Sometimes I wish Draco didn’t teach you the proper pureblood manners,” Sirius laughed and let go of his son. He smiled and greeted the rest of the Weasley kids and Hermione. “Orion mentioned you won’t be spending holidays with us, but remember that you’re always welcomed at Grimmauld Place, Hermione.”
The witch thanked for the invitation, but was left a bit confused. Ever since their last visit to Hogsmeade she’s been worried that her relation with Orion and Sirius might change, but at the moment the Blacks seemed genuinely kind to her. The feeling of insecurity about the future of their friendship would probably remain for a while, but for now she decided to enjoy what she has – family holidays and maybe visiting the Blacks and Weasleys in London.
