Draco smirked amusedly as he watched Hermione fighting to stay in control of her consciousness. He could see her nodding off, and then she would jump up in her seat and pinch herself when she realized what was happening. He wasn't the only person who noticed however, Harry was giving her looks full of concern, and Ron would look at Hermione and shake his head, and then turn around and give Draco a murderous look. Of course, Draco would look at Ron with a smug look on his face, which only infuriated the red head even more, much to Draco's amusement.
"You never did tell me what happened last night" Blaise stated, pulling Draco's attention away from Hermione, which had not gone unnoticed by him.
"She showed up, just like I told you she would" Draco stated smugly.
"Well I pretty much figured that one out on my own.." Blaise stated getting annoyed with Draco's cocky attitude.
"I don't know, we hung out and talked" Draco said shrugging his shoulders.
"About what?" Blaise said trying to pry information out of his best friend.
"Why do you care?" Draco asked annoyed.
"I'm your best mate, obviously I'm curious about what happened" Blaise answered calmly.
"We sat down and talked for three hours. We asked each other questions, taking turns, and would answer the question that was asked. We played some muggle game called 21 questions or something like that, I don't know. Anyways, then she made us both take Veritaserum so we had to answer the questions honestly" Draco said.
"And you took it?" Blaise asked shocked.
"Yeah" Draco stated.
"Wow.." Blaise said, still shocked that his friend was willing to take a potion that would make him tell the truth in front of one of his worst enemies. Since Hermione made it, both him and Draco knew that it was bound to work.
Draco rolled his eyes at Blaise.
"So what kind of things did you ask her?" Blaise asked intrigued.
"None of your business" Draco snapped.
"No need to bite my head off man, I'm just asking. And since when have you ever not told me things, especially when it comes to things that come from Granger. You're usually telling me right away and laughing about what she's accidentally let slip or told you, and you use it against her as blackmail" Blaise said amused at his friends odd behaviour.
Draco calmed down, realizing that Blaise wasn't trying to pry information out of him. "I don't know, you already know everything about me, so there is no need for me to explain it all to you again. But, I also don't feel the need to share what she told me with anyone."
Blaise smirked. A couple of weeks ago, Draco would have told him exactly what they had talked about, regardless of what it had to do with, and here he was now keeping secrets about what the two of them had conversed about. Draco also hadn't taken his eyes off of Hermione since the class started, and he wasn't looking at her hatefully, he was looking at her with an amused look on his face, something that never would have happened before.
"Sounds like you like her" Blaise said holding back a laugh, knowing Draco was going to snap.
Draco froze in his seat, and then slowly turned to look at Blaise with a murderous look on his face. "I do not like her" Draco said slowly.
"Are you trying to convince me, or yourself?" Blaise asked looking at him seriously.
"I don't need to convince anyone of anything because I do not like her" Draco hissed, his eyes narrowed into slits.
"Whatever you say Drake. I'm just saying that normally you wouldn't keep anything that she would say a secret, you would run around telling the entire school in order to embarrass her or piss her off. And you also haven't taken your eyes off of her since class started, not that I blame you, she's actually kind of cute" Blaise said.
As expected, Draco was furious. "There is nothing going on between me and Granger. And if you think she's so cute, why don't you go and ask her out for yourself."
Blaise smirked at his friend. Regardless of if he would admit it or not, Draco's attitude towards the Gryffindor had changed. Obviously, Blaise had no idea as to why, but he knew that it did. Even at breakfast this morning, he had seen Draco nod his head at Hermione acknowledging her when he had seen her enter the Great Hall as their eyes had met.
When Blaise processed Draco's words, an idea formed in his mind. He was going to take Draco's words literally, and he was going to go and ask Hermione out. If Draco was going to sit there and pretend that he still hated Hermione, then Blaise was going to prove to him that he was wrong, and he was going to make Draco admit that he cared about the Gryffindor, even if he wouldn't admit it to himself. Oh, the things he would do for his best friend. Not that he minded. Hermione was an intelligent girl, he knew she wouldn't fall for him asking her out, so obviously he was going to inform her on his plan, and he knew she would go along with it.
"Fine, maybe I will" Blaise said turning his attention back to the front of the class, but not after seeing the look of shock that had come across his best friends face.

"Harry, Ron, I'll be right back. I just have to use the ladies room. I'll meet you both in the Great Hall for dinner in a few minutes" Hermione said smiling.
"You sure?" Ron asked as his stomach grumbled and he turned his head and looked longingly in the direction of the Great Hall.
Hermione and Harry laughed at Ron.
"What?" Ron asked confused looking back and forth between the two of them.
"Nothing. And yes it's fine, I will meet you both there" Hermione said.
"Alright, see you there in a few" Ron said as he took off walking quickly towards the Great Hall.
"You'd think the guy was starving and had never been fed before" Hermione said shaking smiling her head as she watched Ron take off down the hall.
Harry laughed and said "He does have quite an appetite. I should probably catch up to him though, we both know how grumpy he gets when something gets in the way of him eating."
Harry waved goodbye as he took off towards Ron, who had quite a head start.
"Boys" Hermione said shaking her head as she turned around and made her way to the washrooms.
As she was about to push the door open, she felt someone grab her from behind and pull her into an empty classroom.
"Let go of me!" Hermione exclaimed, trying to keep the fear out of her voice.
"Calm down Granger, I'm not going to hurt you" she heard a husky male's voice say as he removed his hands off of her.
Hermione turned around and came face to face with Blaise.
"Well then what do you want?" Hermione asked, her hand in her pocket around her wand.
"I've came to propose a deal with you" Blaise said smoothly.
Hermione raised her eyebrow at him apprehensively. "And what's that?"
"Well, I know how you feel about Draco, and I want to help you" Blaise stated.
"Why?" Hermione asked trying to figure out what his intentions were.
"Because I'm his best friend, and I am trying to do him a favour" Blaise said calmly.
"What sort of favour?" Hermione asked interested.
"Go out with me" Blaise said smoothly.
"Excuse me?!" Hermione squeaked.
"I want you to pretend to be my girlfriend" Blaise said looking right at her.
"And why would you want me to do that? And what are all the Slytherin's going to say?" Hermione asked.
"Because I'm trying to prove something to Draco. Trust me, it will benefit you in the long run. And I don't care what they say" Blaise said shrugging his shoulders.
Hermione looked at him skeptically. "What's in it for you?"
"Nothing. I just want to prove that I'm right" Blaise answered honestly.
"And how exactly does Draco have anything to do with this?" Hermione asked confused.
"Because we are going to pretend to date to make him jealous" Blaise said smirking.
Hermione thought about everything and looked Blaise over. He seemed to be telling the truth, although Hermione didn't know why it would make Draco jealous, but hey, Blaise clearly knew what he was doing, Draco was his best friend after all.
"Fine, I'll go out with you" Hermione stated finally. "But how is this all going to work?"
"Simple. We just act like a couple. I'll take you out on 'dates' and I'll come hang out with you in your Heads Dorm that you share with Draco. I honestly don't think we're going to have to pretend to date for long, so don't worry" Blaise stated.
"Okay" Hermione said slowly.
"Don't worry Granger, I'm not going to hurt you" Blaise said repeating what he had said when he had first brought her into the classroom.
"So are we 'dating' and acting like a couple right now?" Hermione asked.
"Yeah. The sooner the better. I already told Draco that I was going to ask you out, but I don't know if he believed I would actually do it or not" Blaise said smirking.
"Okay. Well, just let me use the ladies room and we can walk to the Great Hall together" Hermione said as she turned around and walked out of the classroom.

The Great Hall was full of people talking and laughing amongst each other, until the Great Hall doors open to reveal something that no one would have expected in a million years.
Everyone stopped talking and craned their heads towards the doors, mouths dropping open in shock everywhere.
Draco had been talking to a 6th year student next to him, but once he realized the guy had stopped paying attention and was looking at the Great Hall doors with a mixed look of shock, confusion and disgust, he turned his head to see what was going on.
Draco felt his eyes widen at the sight in front of him. Blaise and Hermione walking into the Great Hall together... holding hands.
Hermione went bright red once she looked around and realized that all eyes were on her and Blaise.
Blaise smirked out at the crowd, and pulled Hermione in close to him and gave her a kiss on the cheek before letting go of her hand as he started walking over towards the Slytherin table.
"Is that Blaise Zabini with Hermione Granger" Blaise heard people whisper as he walked past.
"I thought Hermione was in love with Draco because of the love potion she was slipped?" He heard another person say.
"Wow, Granger sure has a thing for the Slytherin guys this year doesn't she?" Blaise heard a 7th year from Ravenclaw say.
"I wonder what Potter and Weasley are going to have to say about this one"
All around him, people were whispering about him and Hermione. Blaise smirked. Good, that means his plan was working.
Hermione made her way over to her friends. Ron's face was bright red and he looked absolutely livid. Harry looked completely confused, as though he didn't know what he had seen was real or not. Ginny, had a look of shock on her face, but when she locked eyes with Hermione, her eyes read we need to talk. Hermione nodded her head at Ginny, and Ginny nodded back, then looked away.
"What the hell was that?" Ron hissed.
"It was nothing Ron, calm down" Hermione said calmly.
"Hermione, I thought you were in love with Malfoy?" Harry asked trying to make sense of the situation.
Hermione leaned in close to Harry and whispered "I am. I'll explain everything to you after okay?"
Harry nodded his head in understanding, but Ron continued to study her.
When Blaise sat down, he felt the eyes from all the Slytherins on him, but he ignored it.
"What the hell was that?" Draco asked suddenly.
Blaise turned and looked over at Draco innocently. "What was what?"
"Don't play games with me Zabini, you know what I'm talking about" Draco growled.
"If you're referring to me and Hermione, I merely just took your advice and asked her out" Blaise said using her real name to emphasize his statement.
"When do you ever take my advice?" Draco asked narrowing his eyes.
"Since now" Blaise said smirking.
Draco glared at Blaise and then looked away. He looked over at Blaise from the corner of his eye and saw that he was looking down at his food, so Draco took the opportunity to look over at the Gryffindor table. He spotted Hermione almost instantly and studied her. She was smiling and talking with the people around her, but she must have felt his eyes on her because she looked up and their eyes met. She gave him a warm smile, and then turned to Ginny and the two of them started talking. Draco removed his eyes from her and looked over at Blaise who was looking at him with an eyebrow raised, amusement written all over his face.
"What?" Draco snapped.
"Nothing" Blaise said with a smirk as he averted his eyes from his friend and started shoveling food into his mouth.
Blaise had been watching Draco from the corner of his eye the entire time, and knew it was only a matter of time until Draco would look over at Hermione, which he did almost immediately after he had looked away from him. Blaise had smirked the minute Draco had averted his attention over towards the Gryffindor table, because he knew exactly who his friend was seeking out. He had watched the exchange between the two of them, and was satisfied with what he had seen.
It was only a matter of time now before Draco would finally admit is feelings. Blaise was just trying to speed up the matter.
He was Draco's best friend after all, and he was doing what was best for his friend.
That's what best friends did, wasn't it?
