CH21 AN: Book_addict_89, your review was awesome – those were exactly the emotions I was hoping for. Although, I'm incredibly touched you cried during Harry and Severus' moment. I thought it was sweet, and like Snape to admit his feelings whilst avoiding the actual words. Glad you liked the Changes/Advances dialogue (I say “Roll credits” to myself every time I re-read that bit – I watch a lot of Cinema Sins on YouTube), and that you're now scared about the pup's well being.
Thunderbird – Thank you for the praise involving Harry and Severus' moment. If you re-read some of the later chapters of Changes, it'll remind you of what Harry knows regarding Sectum sempra (*wink*), and I'm glad the preview has made you nervous. It was meant to.
Percyplusoliver – Thanks for the aww. Yes, Sweet Severus is nice, but he doesn't often put in appearances.
Phoenix-rob, you hate cliff-hangers? What on earth are you doing reading this then?! :D I make no promises regarding the pup, the horcrux, Harry, or Severus. SP

Chapter 21 – Take A Look Around
Harry lay quite still. It was quiet and peaceful here and he felt safe. He wasn't really sure where here was, nor if he was real or not, but it didn't matter.
And then he heard the growling. At once he leapt up (Oh, so I am here) and stared in horror at Remus Lupin.
“Hello, Harry,” said the werewolf, a smirk on his lips. “You've come so far since I turned you. So strong. A good member of any Pack.”
“Go away,” Harry panted. “Go away. You're dead. You can't hurt me any more.”
“Oh, I can.” Lupin moved closer and closer and Harry was suddenly aware of his nakedness. It upset him and as he wished it, clothes appeared. “I'm in you, Harry, in your blood and bones now.”
The younger man glanced down, saw fingers brushing his chest and then his gaze focused lower, at his stomach. It was flat. “My pup!” he screamed, distraught. “What's happened to my pup?!”
“Calm yourself,” it was Albus Dumbledore's reassuring voice that answered. Somehow, Lupin had changed into the former headmaster, and now warm blue eyes shone on Harry before gently leading him to a bench. The fear Lupin had made Harry feel receded; instead, he felt at peace being led by Dumbledore. Or would have been calm, had he not been stroking his flat stomach and dreading the answer to his question.
Under it lay a disgusting mess of redness, sores and flailing limbs. Harry recoiled, feeling sick. “That's not...?” he asked, hoping his child wasn't that foul thing.
“No. Look on the bench.”
And, as though it had been obscured by mist, suddenly Harry saw a small baby lying curled up, sleeping contentedly.
“Your son,” Albus said, eyes softening.
“It's a boy?” Harry gaped, sitting and pulling the tiny human into his arms. His eyes spilled tears as he took in the perfection of his child.
With his arms tightly around his sleeping son, Harry relaxed. “What happened?” he asked. “Why was Lupin here?”
“I think, Death, for you, is something you had accepted, but because of the ties you have, you also feared it. And Lupin represents your fear. Now, as to what happened with your enemy...” Dumbledore settled beside him. “You did it, you wonderful young man! You've got rid of the horcrux that was inside you. And now the one who fears me can be defeated.”
“But how did it happen? I didn't stand a chance. I was trying to strangle him and he cursed me!”
“You mastered the Deathly Hallows.”
“Yeah,” Harry was sceptical, “yeah I can see that. I can see Death grovelling at my feet as we speak.”
For a moment, Dumbledore was gone, and instead a large black robed figure sat there. Far taller than Harry, slender and menacing. Long, skeletal fingers peeked out of the sleeves. And when the figure moved and the wizard could see under the hood, he saw a black face with burning red and black eyes.
Startled, Harry jumped to his feet and stumbled backward. “Wh-what are you?!” he asked, arms tight around his child. His inner wolf was growling, hackles raised.
“You already know,” came the sepulchral voice.
The frightening figure shrank, changed, became once more Albus Dumbledore. “I think this form is less terrifying for you,” he observed.
Harry did not sit back down. “Y-you're Death. Does that mean... Am I … dead?”
'Albus' considered. “I think not, on the whole. You own the cloak, the stone, and the wand. That will have protected you.”
“I – what? I don't own the wand. Voldemort has it.”
“He may hold it, but he does not possess it.” Harry snorted and 'Albus' went on, “Consider. Severus may stand beside Voldemort, but he is yours. You may apparently stand alone, yet you are Severus'. Holding something does not make it yours.”
Harry nodded, accepting the truth of that statement. “But how can I own the wand? I never defeated you.”
“No. But it was Draco Malfoy who disarmed me the night I died. And just this morning you disarmed him, taking his wand and transferring the Elder wand's allegiance from him to you. It could never have killed you, even if it were not one of the three reunited Hallows.”
Harry shifted until his son was held in one arm and dug into his pocket. He pulled out the resurrection stone and gave it to 'Albus'. “Have this. I don't want to master Death. If it's kept here, wherever here is, no one will be able to master you ever again.”
The figure shifted, became the true form of Death for a moment as it accepted the Hallow. “You know what you are giving up?” When Harry didn't answer, Death went on, “Owning the three makes you immortal. You would have life forever.”
“I don't want life forever. I want to die when Severus dies. I don't want to live after he's gone.”
Death nodded, and as he did so, he altered, became Dumbledore again. “You are very brave, Harry. A very special wizard. I always believed the one who fears me had underestimated you, and now I know it. I take it, that you have no desire to stay here? Severus awaits you back in the real world...” the form seemed to pull on nothing and a thread appeared in his hand. “Hmm, not for very long though, unless something can be done.” The strong fingers seemed to tug on the line, and it quivered with tension.
“Send me back!” Harry cried, staring as the thread seemed to become more solid. “Send me back!”

At Hogwarts, battle had resumed. Tonks skidded around a boulder and gasped as she crashed straight into a Death Eater. Helpfully, he looked somewhat like the wizard she had just broken up with. It meant she felt enough annoyance to attack him aggressively. However, her wand went flying from her grip as she smacked into him and he laughed malevolently as he saw her helpless and wobbling to remain upright. Hair abruptly changing colour, as though that had been the signal, she crumpled and cried out as a bone snapped.
The Death Eater grabbed her pink hair and tugged on it, pulling her up so her pale face was on display. He grinned at the pain tears at the corners of her eyes. “Not so fucking smart, are you, girly?” he queried, one hand stroking over her arm and then back up to fondle her breasts.
“Get off me!” she whispered, struggling.
“Or what?!” The Death Eater smirked and used his one strong hand to rip her cloak open, exposing the plain black bra she was wearing. “Oh, very nice. Black. I reckon you'd be interested in a bit of kink!”
“HELP!” Tonks screamed. Her voice was almost lost in the sounds of the fight. In fact, only one pair of keen ears heard her.
Fenrir came running and saw the helpless woman on the ground, chest exposed, saw how pitiful she looked, and he felt a strong feeling wash over him. His mouth was smeared with blood and it made his feral side come to the fore. His wolf was howling at him and he saw no reason to deny it what it wanted.
“Oh look, girly, Fenrir's here too. He wants to play.” The Death Eater pulled her around so that she could see the approaching man.
Tonks' eyes widened, taking in the bare chest, the dark hair, the almost feral expression. Her hair changed to pale blue. The blue of early morning in Spring. The blue of Fenrir Greyback's eyes.
The werewolf checked for a brief moment, and then he was jumping.
The Death Eater had no warning. Fenrir leapt over Tonks and slashed wildly at the man who had dared to touch his woman. He bit the Death Eater, sinking his teeth into the neck and ripping out chunks of flesh. Mouth bloody he snarled and began clawing at the dying man.
“Stop!” Tonks gasped, “Fenrir, stop! Please,” her last word was a groan, and he turned to her, eyes concerned. She clutched at him and pressed her head against his bare chest. Sniffing, she inhaled his scent and knew that she had never loved Remus Lupin. She had loved this man; she had loved the part of Fenrir left in Remus. And she had never realised until this very moment when she had turned and seen him coming towards her. At that instant she had known she belonged to him, and he to her.
“Mine!” he growled, moving so that she could see his face.
“Yours,” she agreed.
Fenrir looked out over the battle before bending his head to sniff her. The woman he had not known existed before this day was his. Softly, gently, lovingly, he whispered, “My mate.”

Harry groaned. Automatically one hand cupped his belly and he was reassured by the bump there. He crawled towards Severus and was horrified by the red blood soaking into the floorboards of the Shrieking Shack. Quickly he scrambled for his wand, cast a protection charm and then dug deep in his memory for the counter charm to heal Sectum sempra.
“ Vulernis Sanen... no, it wasn't that. Vulnera Sanenturis. Shit, no! Vulnera Sanentur! Vulnera Sanentur! Vulnera Sanen-”
“Harry Potter!” It was Voldemort's voice. He had risen to his feet and was aiming the Elder wand once again at the younger wizard.
“Oh, piss off, Tom, I'm busy!” Harry snapped and turned back to his mate. He pressed his hands against the cuts, feeling the heart slowing. “Severus! Please!” Tears trickled from his eyes and he began chanting again, “Vulnera Sanentur, Vulnera Sanentur, Vulnera San-”
“AVADA KEDAVRA!” Voldemort roared.
The Elder wand refused to attack its true owner, but it sensed the protection charm. That would rebound any spell.
A flash of green light shot across the room, diffused for a long moment along the edges of the shield charm, and then gathered itself back into a fierce deadly green curse. It pinged back across the room and hit the Dark Lord between his eyes.
Harry, focusing on Severus, barely spared a glance for the wizard that had just thumped to the ground, dead. The Elder wand fell from the corpse's hand and Harry ran for it. With that he could save Severus.
He scooped it up and shook his head as he gazed at Voldemort. “What a prat!” he commented before rushing back and casting the spell to heal Severus again. Even with the wounds sealed, the heart was still beating slowly. Harry needed to get Severus medical attention. Fast.
***
All was confusion after that.
Harry levitated Severus and Voldemort to the Hog's Head and begged Aberforth to help Snape. Aberforth, for all his gruffness, was a compassionate man and grabbed a blood replenishing potion from his medical supplies. He bitched once he'd forced the potion down.
“It's been like fucking King's Cross in here! Fucking Aurors and god knows who coming through and going up to the school.” Aberforth saw the dead body and nearly fainted. “Is that...?”
“He's dead,” Harry assured Aberforth.
“Yeah, we've heard that before,” Dumbledore grumbled and kept well away from the corpse. As he worked on Severus he made sure the bar was always between him and Voldemort. He was damned sure that if the Dark Lord rose once again he, at least, was going to be able to hide.
An Auror appeared in the bar from the portrait, a disgruntled Mundungus Fletcher at the end of his wand. Not caring at the time, Harry didn't bother asking as the thief was dragged away. He found out later that Dung had been hit with a dangerous concoction of spells whilst the Auror had been beside him. Dung had been at the Battle not to fight, but to pick over the bones of the dead and had been standing in the wrong place at the wrong time. The spells needed proper emergency treatment and Dung had been taken to St Mungo's. The wolf in him had purred happily when he had learned that, due to the interaction between two hexes, Mundungus was now impotent.
A figure ran into the bar.
“See what I mean?!” Aberforth complained.
Harry didn't recognise the wizard but he was heading towards the battle and wasn't in Death Eater robes. “Who are you?” he asked.
“What's it to … shit! Are you Harry Potter?!”
“Look, take that up to the school,” Harry indicated the corpse. “Let everyone see Voldemort is dead and the battle is over. Then get hold of Kingsley or someone, tell him to start arresting anyone in Death Eater robes, except Draco Malfoy and Fenrir Greyback...”
“It's true, then,” the stranger said looking repulsed, “you're a werewolf.”
“Yes,” Harry replied testily. He really had better things to do than deal with this man's prejudices. “Yes, I am. No, Fenrir did not turn me. He helped me escape Malfoy Manor over Easter. Now, go, please. The longer you stand there the more people die.”
The wizard nodded, cast a spell to levitate the body of the Dark Lord ahead of him, shuddered, and stepped through the passageway to reach the school.

CH21 AN: The King's Cross bit – I'm taking on board the fan theory that Dumbledore actually was Death as we know Dumbledore is the only wizard Voldemort ever feared. And what is the only thing Voldemort fears? Death.
Hadn't realised just how much happens in this chapter – yipes! Voldie having a very anti-climatic death was deliberate.
And, Thunderbird, I hope my punishment for Dung was appropriate?
Also, the thing with Fenrir and Tonks hit me when I was in bed one night and I had to get up and scribble the idea down. I then had to change one sentence in the first chapter (that seems to be a recurring theme with me!), but all this was before posting. I hope you liked Fen's redemption and getting a happy ending.
CH22 Preview: Crap, can't include much, preview-wise, of this chapter. It just gives too much away. Sorry. SP
