Hermione walked out of the pub to apparate when she felt Draco touch her arm. She looked up to see his worried gray eyes. She felt sad for him. He had to keep hearing people tell her that their babies were not that important. Only they knew how important they are to them. He asked in a serious tone, "Granger, I know this is between Weasley and you but I want to be there. Can I accompany you and be there while you tell him about the babies?"
Hermione smiled, "I am not scared of him. He is my husband of twenty years."
Draco nodded, "I know that but I dont trust his temper. Besides I heard what you told Cho about him forcing you the day you were impregnated with my sperm."
Hermione turned red as she remembered her conversation, "That was not what you think it is...Ron was manipulated. He was under a spell. I think someone had put a spell on him with trigger words. When he was at a pub in Diagon Alley that evening. He would never do that to me. I know he has a bad temper but I can handle it."
Draco looked at her trying to understand why she was saying what she was saying. He merely nodded and then repeated his request again,"Fine then what if I come with you so that he can check with me as well. You know if we both tell him what happened amy be he will allow you to have the pregnancy and still be with you."
Hermione shook her head sadly, " Our relationship isnt what it used to be once. I had his constant attention and love. He was so happy when we started our family so early. Even after I refused to have a third child he was so loving. Inguess with time love wanes. I am sure that my decision to have the babies will be the last straw that will break the camel's back. I do not expect him to be okay with this especially since I refused to have anymore babies for us. Draco I know you want to help me but I want to do this alone."
Draco was not ready to let her go alone so he suggested that he come with her till her door to drop her. He then suggested that she take Ginny as she would be good support. Hermione thought about it for a bit and then agreed. She needed Ginny. She would be then sane voice if Ron went crazy.
Hermione rang the bell as Ginny opened the door with a puzzled expression which changed when she saw Draco behind her. She let them in and showed them the couch to be seated. Harry who was having his day off came out of the children's room to greet them. He was surprised to see Draco there. He smiled at Hermione but greeted Draco openly as well. The war had been over for twenty years and Harry had seen Draco grow into a better person after the war. He held no ill will towards him. Hermione told Ginny that she had some news that she wanted to share with Ron but it was something that he would not accept easily so she needed their support. The couple agreed to come with her but asked her what was Draco doing with her? She replied that Draco was connected with the news.
On that reply, Ginny took Hermione away from Draco and Harry and asked her if they were having an affair? Hermione laughed and asked why she was asking this when she knew how long she had loved Ron? Ginny smirked and replied, "If a man looked like a sad puppy every time he looked at me I would know that he was in love with me. Malfoy has the same look. Maybe he doesnt know this yet but he is very much in love with you. He hasnt stopped looking at you or checking if you are okay everytime you move." Hermione was shocked at this revelation. She was happy and sad at the same time. She was happy that her feelings were not onesided and she was sad because she did not want to come between Malfoy and Astoria. She simply shook her head answering Ginny's question.
Then four of them then went to her house using the floo. A startled Ron saw the four of them as he was coming down from his bedroom.
"What is this..an intervention or something?" He asked smilingly but stopped when he saw Malfoy. He glared at him and asked Hermione, "Did you have to bring him here? You may be dealing with him but you dont have to bring him home."
Ginny frowned, "Relax Ron. He is with us and we are here with Hermione."
Ron threw an angry look at his sister. She always sided with Hermione. Harry went and sat on the sofa followed by Draco and Ginny sat in the armchair after Hermione asked them to be comfortable. Ron looked at Hermione with a question in his eyes. Hermione smiled sadly at him and asked him to sit down as well. Ron knew that he was about to receive some very bad news. His instinct told him that something was way off.
Hermione stood before the four of them thinking of a way to tell Ron what had happened. Draco on the other hand felt very uneasy seeing her so worried and finding himself helpless to comfort her. Hermione summoned her inner strength to speak plainly and concisely, "Ron, Ginny and Harry are here because I wanted them here when I tell you the news that Cho told me today. I went to Cho to get the check up done to see if I am pregnant or not and also if Malfoy was the father since we had....you know as you were under a spell..."she faltered and Harry snapped his head at her, "What do you mean under a spell? Why was I not told about this?"
Hermione shook her head and told him what had happened that night only lightly touching on the fact that he had raped her. Instead she made it seemed like she was not firm in refusing him. Ron looked at her accusingly while Ginny looked horrified. Draco looked thunderous but under control. He was gripping the arm of the sofa really hard. Hermione continued, "So Cho determined that Draco was the father but then Lucius came in and he asked her to check for the mother as well as Astoria had been having an affair with Dr. Thorne. On checking we found out that the doctor had cheated us and that instead of putting an embryo inside me he had injected Malfoy's sperm and that I was the mother to his children. The doctor was a fraud and Lucius suspects that Astoria might have been lying about her being fertile. So right now I am carrying his children....our children."
She waited for a few seconds and that was enough for Ron to react, "No! NOOOO....absolutely not! You cannot have these children....how many of them they may be....just no! You cannot Hermione! I...stop...I forbid you to have them. As your husband I am telling you right now....do not have them...you cannot have them. I gave you permission to have their baby, not yours and his! No way....I know this is all his plan. He wants this to happen....no...no way Hermione No..NOOO." He ended up shouting the word at the top of his voice.
Hermione looked at him sadly and contiued,"There are three babies in me Ron and I have decided that I am going to have them. I know you will not be happy with this and I do not expect you to be so.I cannot tell you how I am feeling right now. I am trying to do what is best and I know that this will hurt many of us."
Ron caught his head in his hands and stood up and asked, "What will you tell the children once these babies are born and who will take care of them? And what will you tell the world Hermione?"
Hermione answered, " I have already spoken with our children. They know what has happened and know that I will have the babies. They are okay with it now.  I will tell the world the truth and I will take care of them." She stood up resolutely looking at Ron.
He studied her for a minute and replied, "So you are prepared to make me a laughing stock in the wizard world. Everyone will point at me and say,"There goes Weasley who sold his wife's womb and instead got step Malfoy brats whom he has to tolerate his entire life. He was such an idiot that he gave his wife the freedom to do as she pleases and she went and got herself pregnant with Draco Malfoy's kids and whats more now she is raising them with him. And he is a spineless fool who is allowing her to do so. Great just great!"
Hermione listened to his words too shocked to reply while Harry and Ginny were dumbfounded after hearing her story. Ron went on without caring what he was saying, "When I said that I wanted a third child you said no but now you are ready to raise three of his children with him? Why Hermione? Just because he has much money to raise them? I knew you were moneyminded. Always telling me how much we were lacking and how much we needed to give our children the perfect life. Well guess what Hermione! Perfection does not exist. I grew up poor and yet I am happy. We would have been happy too if we had another child but no, you decided that you could not look after another kid and yet here we are...you are carrying three kids and you want them...why...well because Draco is their father. He has much to offer. You Hypocrite!"
Hermione closed her mouth to stop herself from crying out loud. She had expected him to be ruthless but not insult her so. She controlled her sobs and forced herself to calm down before answering him, " We had not planned for Rose or Hugo Ron but we still had them. I said no because I wanted my career as well. If we had had a third unplanned child then I would have given birth to that child as well. But I guess you would not believe it because for you everything must happen the minute you demand it. How can you say you are okay with raising a third child without even planning for him or her? I did the planning for our two children after they were born. You thought your job was to simply spoil them silly and promise them everything even if we could not give them what they wanted. I would have had our third child if I had any proof that you were growing up, becoming a mature person. I cannot believe that you think that I am responsible for not having a third child. It was your casual attitude towards their future that stopped me from having a third child."
Ron glared at her growling with his face red and his ears even redder. He did not like being criticised in front of Draco Malfoy, "Fine Hermione, then I guess Malfoy is a mature person who will plan and splurge his wealth on his children. Anybody can do that but what wil you do about the bad blood that will flow through them? The evil Malfoy blood...what will you tell your children when they read about the war and know that their father had insulted their mother and called her blood impure and insulted her for her inferior race? And according to the wizarding law the father is the primary care taker which means you will have to go visit them at his manor, the same place where they tortured you! I bet your children would hear much interesting stories of the Dark Lord and Lucius working hand in hand to kill people like their mother from their dearest grandfather if he comes around to accept halfblooded grandchildren. Yes, I can see it now. Once the word is out your reputation will be shred to pieces and he will be called a cheater becasue no one will believe your IVF story in the wizarding world. You both will be shunned for being cheaters in your marriages. Nobody will respect you for that. My, my Hermione you really have planned a grand future for your kids."
Hermione went pale when she heard his words. They stung and hurt like anything. She had been afraid of everything he had just said but she had hoped that with the right timming they could tell the world the truth. She had been dreaming obviously becasue Ron was right no one believed in IVF in the magical world. They would call her a fool and a cheater. She was thinking about her children and about Lucius. He would not be a good role model and she wanted nothing to do with him. How could she stop him from influencing her children? She felt as if she had not thought this through. She replied, "Even if you are right, I will still go ahead and have them. I can take care of them. I can protect them."
Ron looked at her and mocked, "like you protected yourself the last time you were there? Did you forget who saved you? I did and as your husband I am ordering you to abort them. I have the right."
Hermione got angry, "You maybe my husband but this is my body and you cannot ask me to do that."
Ron's temper rose when he saw he was being put down by his wife in front of others. He always had a insecure ego. So he leaped forward and pulled her to him and shouted, "Do what I tell you or I will divorce you and you will never get to see your children again."
Hermione screamed as she felt his nails digging inside her arm. Harry jumped up to stop Ron while Ginny shouted at him to let Hermione go. They all stood still as they watched the room tremble, the lights flickered and a stiff but angry voice came from behind them, "Let go of her Weasley or I will not be responsible for what happens now." The four of them looked at Draco wide eyed as they turned to see his face red with anger and his hair discharging electric magic while every piece of furniture in the room floated above two feet in the air!
Adrian Pucey swallowed the entire contents in his firewhisky glass as he listened to what Astoria was telling him. That poor woman was half crazy in love with David and did not know what she was doing. For the first time since he loved her Adrian suspected that maybe all is not well with his love. As she described her hatred for Malfoys and her plan to spoil their pureblood ancestry, he thought that may be he would need to contact Cho. She would help him figure this thing out. So congratulating her on her plan he helped her get out of the bed to get ready for dinner. He meanwhile had places to go.
