Chapter 22: Full Moon

The next day passed quickly and then it was the morning of
the full moon. Harry woke up around
mid-morning to find Remus sitting up in the chair by the fire, wrapped up in
blankets. He got up and went over to
Remus.

�
Why didn�t you wake me up? Have you
eaten breakfast yet? �

�
You don�t need to wait on me, I�ve been doing this for thirty odd years �,
snapped Remus.

�
I�m going to ignore the �big bad wolf � attitude my love. You do not have to suffer alone. If you really want me to leave you alone I
will get dressed and go spend the day in the library. If you want company however I will be here.�

Remus
rubbed at his face and sighed. � I�m
sorry I snapped. I�m a little touchy �
he paused looking at Harry�s raised eyebrow.
� Ok very touchy. I�m not use to
having someone around me on full moon days.
I will probably not be good company today.�

�
That�s all right, I�m not expecting you to be good company. I just hate seeing you miserable. Do you feel like eating? �

�
Not really. Maybe just tea and toast �,
said Remus.

Harry
walked over to the bell on the nightstand and summoned a house-elf.

�
Could you bring some tea and toast for Remus and I�ll have scrambled eggs,
bacon, toast and pumpkin juice please.�

�
Right away Harry Potter sir.� Muffin disappeared and while he was waiting he
cleared a spot on the coffee table for their breakfast. Muffin reappeared a few minutes later with
breakfast, which they ate silencely.
After they finished Harry gathered the empty dishes, which Muffin
retrieved and returned to the kitchen.

�Why
don�t you go back to bed? I�ll go grab
a few books to read and I can keep you company�, said Harry.

Remus
nodded, got up and crawled back under the covers. Harry got a couple of books and his reading glasses and got back
in bed beside Remus. He propped himself
up on some pillows and once he was settled Remus laid his head on Harry�s
lap. Harry smiled and started to read,
holding the book in on hand and between page turn he combed his fingers through
Remus� hair with the other hand. Remus
sighed and drifted off to sleep after a yawned � I love you.�

Remus
woke several hours later with his head still lying in Harry�s lap. He rolled over on his back and looked
sheepishly up at Harry. Harry just
smiled down at him, stroking his cheek loving.

�
Sorry I slept so long. Did I put your
leg to sleep?�

�
That�s all right, you needed to sleep.
I finished my Charms book and started reading through one of the books
from my parents vault. There are some
interesting spells I would like to try.�
Harry bent down and kissed Remus lightly. � Are you hungry?�

� I
don�t know if I can keep much down �, said Remus.

�
How about some soup �, asked Harry?
Remus nodded. Harry reached for
the bell and summoned Muffin again.

�Yes
Harry Potter sir?�

�
Could we please have some soup and tea brought up? Oh and a sandwich for me also, I don�t care what kind.�

�Right
away Harry Potter sir.� She disappeared
with a pop.

Remus
slowly sat up, wincing in pain. Harry
kissed his forehead.

�
Do you want to stay in bed or eat by the fire?�

�
By the fire is fine�, said Remus.

He
got out of bed and made his way to his chair.
Harry joined him. Their meal was
brought up and again they ate in a comfortable silence. After they finished eating they went back to
bed to both have a nap. When Muffin
returned to pick-up the dishes Harry asked her to wake them up in time for
supper. They cuddled up under the
covers and went to sleep.

Shortly
before supper- time Dobby came up to wake them.

Remus Lupin sir, Dobby is here to wake you up and give you your potion sir.�

Remus
sat up and drank his Wolfbane potion. �
Thanks Dobby.�

Would you be liking Dobby to be preparing a warm bath for you? It be helping you feel better sir.�

Remus
looked at the house-elf, he looked so eager to please. �Yes that would be nice thank you
Dobby.� Dobby hurried into the bathroom
and drew the bath.

�You
want some company in your bath � asked Harry?

�That
would be lovely � smiled Remus.

They
walked hand in hand to the bath. Dobby
had just finished lighting candles as they came in.

�
Thanks Dobby I�m sure this will help � said Remus.

�You
is calling Dobby again if you need anything else sir?�

�Is
the room downstairs ready for us tonight � asked Harry?

�
Yes Harry Potter sir. The furniture has
been removed and the blankets are on the floor. The outside door will be left open for you as you asked sirs.�

�
Thanks Dobby. We appreciate all you and
the others have done. Please thank the
others for us � said Remus.

� Sirs
are to kind. Harry Potter and mate
Remus Lupin are great wizards, so kind.�
Dobby disappeared with a pop.

Harry
shook his head Dobby was such a nut.
They removed their clothing and got into the tub. Remus sighed as the warm water relaxed his
sore muscles. He leaned into Harry�s
chest. Harry wrapped his arms securely
around Remus.

� I
think you should wait to come into the room until after I have
transformed. You should not have to see
that � said Remus.

�
I�ve seen you transform before in the third year so that doesn�t matter to
me. If it really bothers you to be seen
then I will wait but I would rather stay with you.�

Remus
was silent for a few minutes and then said �ok. You can be there for the whole
time.� He gave a small smile. � I love you.�

Harry
kissed him. � I love you too. I still need a name for my animal forms.�

�
Hum. I have been thinking about that.
What about Theros?�

�
Theros?�

�
It means wild animal in Greek.�

�
It�s prefect thank you.�

They
soaked quietly for a while then Harry spoke again. � I finished reading over the Charm text. I also started reading one of Dad�s
books. There were a few defensive
spells and hexes that looked promising.�

�
We can go over them tomorrow� said Remus.

�
Sure if you feel up to it, I do not want you to over do it.�

�Yes
mother�ow �, Remus yelped as Harry swatted his chest. � Seriously I should be feeling energetic enough by the afternoon
to test you on them.�

�
We really should get out of this tub now.
It�s time to eat and we are getting all pruny � said Harry.

Remus
sighed. � You�re right.�

He got out of the tub, Harry clammering out
after him. They dried off and went to
the bedroom. Remus just put on a
bathrobe and Harry dressed in sweats.
They went downstairs to the diningroom to eat dinner. After they ate
Remus and Harry went to the greatroom to wait for the full moon. Remus took off his robe and stretched out on
the blankets. Harry joined him holding
him close, stroking his back lazily.

�When
I start to transform you need to back off and transform yourself � warned
Remus.

� I
will,� promised Harry.

About
twenty minutes later the sun had set and Remus cried out. Harry gave Remus one last kiss on the cheek
and transformed into the wolf. He
watched, whimpering as Remus screamed and thrashed, as his body broke and
reformed. Finally it was over and a
tawny and grey wolf lay panting on the blankets. Theros slowly made his way over to Moony, his ears back and tail
tucked in submission. He licked Moony�s
muzzle, his tail wagging. Moony looked
up at his young mate and smiled. He
nuzzled Theros� neck with his muzzle, nipping affectionally. He got up and padded towards the door
glancing back at Theros. Theros trotted
after him.

Moony
stopped in the garden to glance at the moon.
Theros rubbed against him, bumping his head against Moony�s shoulder in
a questioning manner. � Play with me �
he said to Moony. Moony wagged his tail
and yipped an ok. Theros took off
across the field running full out.
Moony chased after him finally catching up to him and tackling him to
the ground triumphantly. The rest of
the night was spent wrestling and playing, exploring the forest and resting
quietly by the lake.

Pre-dawn
hours saw the two wolves back in the house, curled up together on the nest of
blankets. Moony nuzzled his sleeping
mates neck, happy to not be alone anymore.
He now had someone who made him feel safe and loved. He laid his head back down to sleep content,
until sunrise.
