Chapter 22 Kali tells a few secrets
“You is the Assimilator Miss. Many, many hundreds of years before you was borned, it was decided that the time is coming for Assimilation. No one is knowing when, but they is knowing.”
“Who is knowing Kali?”
“The wise ones Miss. The Gods and the Goddesses. The Elementals, and the Dark ones. All of the higher powers is meeting and they is all knowing that they is needing to chooses someone to carry the Assimilation gene, the gene that will carry the legacy down generations until the time he, or she is being needed. It is being over two thousand years since they is meeting like this, and many hundred more before they is deciding who will be the ones to carry the legacy.”
Kali paused. Giving Nina time to take in what she had told her so far.
Nina was not sure what Elementals and Dark ones were. She knew, well she thought she knew what Gods and Goddesses were. Kind of.
Kali continued. “Yous name is meaning something. You is already knowing that can be a serpent. You is doing it in front of the Evil one. But you is not any serpent. You is Nina, Serpent Goddess. With you is Lamia, Kundalini and Pythia.
You is Gweneth, Goddess of light. The White blessed one. The Light.
You is Manohel, The Creator God of mankind. Giver of body and Soul to mortals.
In yous own soul you carries Erinyes, Furiae. Mist walking, kindly, punisher of the unfaithful.
And Tisiphone, To be treated with great respect.
You has Orla, Is golden woman.
You is Unicorns, Love, purity, all things good.
You is having same magic as any witch, wizard or creature that you is touching. In yous head you is having the know of every book you is touching.
You has touched the Evil one Miss Nina?“
“Err yeah. But only for a minute.”
“Its not matter. You too has same power he has.
You is needing to have more though.
From now until you is eighteen you will gather the powers of Earth, Water, Fire, Air and Spirit.
You is meeting with Centaurs, Trolls and pixies.
Near the time you is to join with the Snape you will meet the Phoenix.
The Phoenix is close. He is living with the Headmaster and has been waiting for you for many years. He has had many burnings while he is waiting.”
“Ho…how do you know this Kali? I mean why me? Why didn’t I know this? And if I can do these things now, why not when.…when….before I came here?”
“It is fate that you is coming here. When you is with the bad people it was not meant to be.”
When the carriers is chosen they is living as muggles. They is having no magic any more. They is not even knowing it is existing. For many generations they is having sons, only sons. Until you. You are the first daughter of Manohel. The first daughter of Nina. The first daughter of Gweneth.
When you is still very little girl, the Evil one was stopped for a time.”
“How? Can’t he be stopped again?”
“Is not like last time. Last time he is stopped by a mothers love for her child. Evil one is killing the child’s parents and then he is casting the killing curse at the child but it is not working. The child survived and the Evil one is vanquished. For a time.”
“So who was the child?”
“Harry Potter, Miss. Since then everyone is saying that he is the one who will kill the Evil one this time. But he is not the one Miss Nina.”
“So that’s why he got so upset the other night. Whoa” Wait minute. If Harry’s not gonna kill him, who….? No, don’t. I….I don’t want ….No, I can’t.”
Nina was voice was high pitched voice now. She was scared.
“I thinks we is needing a break Miss. You is having a lot to know and is more yet. We is having stop time.”
Kali winked out and was back seconds later with a glass of milk and a sandwich for Nina.
“You is eating now.” And Kali disappeared.
Nina wanted to know more now. She wanted to ask questions. Not sit here with a bloody sandwich.
“KALI!” She shouted. But Kali didn’t come.
Nina was frustrated. ‘Of all the blasted times to disappear.’ she thought as she took a vicious bite out of her sandwich and chewed it maliciously.
She got up and paced. Much Severus does when agitated. Nina didn’t know this though.
‘So Harry was thought to be the one to kill old scaly legs. So why do I have to….? No. I can’t. I wont.’
‘And if it was a mistake, me been with Uncle Pete. Where should I have been? And the vampire. Kali said we have to…well I think that’s what she meant.’
Nina’s feeling for Severus had grown quickly in such a shot time. She had never felt like that for anyone. There again, she had never had the opportunity. Severus Snape was the first person she had ever kissed. Man or boy.
Uncle Pete would slobber over her, but he had never kissed her. Thank God. And if Kali was right and they did have to….do it. They had been very close in the kitchen at that house. She had wanted to. But she was scared too. And Kali said that she was pure. A virgin. Well that was wrong for a start. She had lost her virginity when she was ten years old. Well if Kali got that wrong then she probably got everything else wrong too. Nina hoped.
She sighed, sat down and drank her meal while she finished her sandwich and everything Kali had told her once more whirled around in her head until she thought she would go dizzy.
Half an hour later Kali returned to find Nina sitting on the sofa and staring into nothingness. He plate and glass were both empty.
“Miss is well?”
“Oh kali. Yes Thanks.”
“You is ready for Kali to continue?”
“Kali I need to ask you some thing first.”
Kali perched back up on the sofa as she had earlier and waited for Nina to speak.
“Kali. How do you know all of these things?”
“Ah Miss. The elf race is being very old. Much older than even wizards and witches. We is learning of this in a time when everyone is listening to the Gods. When all men is the same. Now is different but story is passed down through generations.”
“So why has no one ever known about it? This all seems as new to them as it is to me.”
“They is never asking Miss. We is there to serve. Keep their secrets. Nothing more. But we knows. Elves knows many things. But only you asks.” They never asks us because they do not know that we knows.”
Nina thought she understood. Kind of.
“But you could be wrong Kali. Maybe the story has got changed or mixed up over the years.”
“Is not possible Miss.”
“But it must be. I know it’s wrong. You told Dobby that I…well you got something wrong.”
The elf looked her in the eyes.
“I is getting nothing wrong Miss Nina. You is not knowing that elves is knowing everything. You is a virgin and you is pure.”
“That’s just it Kali. I’m not. I….I haven’t been since I was ten. Don’t you see? My Uncle took that away from me. So you must be wrong.”
“No Miss. Kali is right. You was taken by that bad man who is not your Uncle. You was taken but you remained pure. In here.”
Kali pointed at Nina’s heart.
“You is not having a choice with that man. You is innocent. Then king and queen of the Unicorns is coming and they’s blessing you. They is giving back what was stolen from you against yous will. When you and the Snape unite, it will be the first time for you. It will be special. As it should be. The Snape is already in love with you, and you with him. It is good.”
“And why are we bound. Why are we linked?”
“When you is coming to Hogwarts on you seventeenth birthday, you is seeing it because it was the exact time you was borned. If you was coming before then you would have seen only a ruin of an old building. Only when you are of age as a witch can you come into your powers. The Snape is the first to touch you. That is when you and he is bonded. It was meant.”
“Does he know?”
“He does. But not when it happened.”
“You…you said that Uncle Pete is not my uncle. You said it was an accident.” Nina was frowning now. She was really confused.
“After Harry Potter is vanquishing the Evil one, some of his followers is not stopping the killings. They is still going and attacking innocent muggle families. Harry Potter was one years old when his parents is killed. A year later they is killing another family. They did not know or care who they is killing. But they has missed one of them.”
Nina was watching Kali intently now. Her eyes filled with tears as she waited for her to say the words that she knew were coming. But she had to hear them.
“A little girl Miss. She is only three. Somehow she is hiding. I is not knowing how or where. No one is knowing about her. She was Nina. She is missing for a long time after that. No one is knowing where she is gone. Until she comes here. She is you.”
She sat there with tears streaming down her face. She’d had parents. They had been murdered by that….that scaly things army or whatever it is. She had suffered all these years with¾
THEM. And they had no right to take her.
Nina began to remember things. Images in her mind.
Screaming. Someone was screaming. It was her mummy. She had seen her through the door. Men with masks were on top of her mummy and her daddy. He wasn’t moving and his eyes were bleeding. She had been frightened. Why were daddies eyes bleeding? Why didn’t he get off the floor? Why was her mummy screaming The men with the masks were hurting her. They were playing piggy back with mummy and daddy, but mummy didn’t want to. She remembered hiding. She didn’t know where but it was cold and them men came and one of them was holding her mummies head but her body wasn’t there.
Then someone had lifted her up. She had kept quiet. She didn’t want him to take her head off like mummies was taken off. It would hurt. She knew it would hurt because her mummy screamed. She was in the brum brum with the man. She stayed quiet like a good girl. Maybe he wouldn’t take her head off if she was a good girl. The man took her in the brum brum to somewhere. Then she was Jane. And she didn’t know this Aunt Aggie and Uncle Pete. She didn’t want to be Jane because mummy and daddy said her name is Nina. She liked being Nina. Not Jane. She had cried and they had told her off. She wanted her mummy and daddy and her bed and her toys and all the things she knew and loved. But they were gone. She had cried some more and they had shouted at her more. Then they had smacked her bottom. The next time they had smacked her head. Sometimes Aunt Aggie would nip her and Uncle Pete did dirty things that she didn’t like. After so long she had stopped crying. They told her that She was Jane and had always been Jane. That Nina wasn’t real. In the end she had believed them.
“Is the Miss alright?”
“Oh Kali. Why didn’t I remember?”
Kali came across the sofa and hugged her. She hugged her as she cried and shook. She held her tightly and felt her pain.
Kali cried with her.
They stayed this way until Nina’s sobs finally abated and she was only giving the odd shuddering sigh.
“Come Miss. I is running you a bath. You is feeling much better after bath.”
Nina followed her to the bathroom. She had cried herself out and now her mind felt numb. She was glad. It was all too much to take in.
She climbed into the bath with a grateful groan.
“Kali.”
“Yes Miss?”
“Your wonderful. Do you know that?”
“I does now Miss.” Kali had a big silly smile on her face as she began to wet Nina’s hair and massage her scalp while she lathered up the shampoo.
“Kali?”
“Yes Miss?”
“Do I really have to….with the vampire?”
Kali grinned wider.
“Oh yes Miss Nina. But don’t yous be scared. With the Snape it is being good. Very good.” Before Nina could comment Kali pushed Nina’s head under the water to rinse off the shampoo.
She came up coughing, spluttering and burping having swallowed some of the bath water.
“Kaleee.”
The elf giggled and pushed her down again.
Finally a dried, dressed and more relaxed Nina was ready to go to dinner.
Just as she was coming out of the bedroom there was a knock on the door.
Kali told her “It is Mister Malfoy. She I lets him in?”
“Yes please Kali. Oh, Wait. The whisker. Can I have it?”
Kali passed her a small, thin glass bottle containing Remus’ werewolf whisker. It has unbreakable charm on it Miss.
Nina put it in her pocket as Kali went to open the door.
Draco walked into the room. His eyes quickly taking in his surrounding. He was impressed.
“Well, I envy you. We mere students do not fare so well in our accommodations. How are you Nina.”
“Fine thanks Draco. Look if you’ve come about what happened yesterday, I really didn’t try to hurt those two girls. I….I know their your friends.”
“Nina, you are my friend. At least I hope you are.” He raised an eyebrow at her questioningly.
“Well yes. That’s what I thought too, but I don’t want to get in the way of your other friends. I didn’t mean for anything like that to happen.”
When Draco had heard on the grapevine what had happened with Pansy, Millie and Nina he was incensed.
Pansy had come to him crying that she had been suspended and had blamed it all on Nina. She had called Nina some disgusting names and said that Nina was trying to split her and Draco up.
Draco had slapped her and said that it was not possible since they were not an item in the first place.
“But Draco, we have always been together. You love me. I am the one who has always been there for you when you needed someone. I’ have never refused you.”
“No Pansy, you have never refused me. But nor have you ever refused the rest of the males in Slytherin. And I have never said that I love you. That was something you made up for yourself. You are no more than a useful hole Pansy and you think yourself more. You have always done so. I decide who my friends are. NOT YOU.”
Pansy had been fuming about Draco when her and Millie’s parents had come to collect them.
I came to apologise for them actually. I do not condone that kind of behaviour. Rest assured, you shall be avenged.”
And he meant it. He cared more about Nina then he ever had about Pansy and regardless of what his father and the Dark Lord said, he would not help them to hurt her.
“I don’t want revenge Draco. I just want them to leave me alone. I won’t let them hurt me again.”
“They will never have the chance. Besides, they are no longer here. Dumbledor suspended them and they may be up for expulsion.”
Draco doubted it would ever come to that. The Pansy and Millicent’s fathers were Deatheaters like his own father and they stuck together. He knew that his father would pull strings with the school board of governors and the Ministry to make sure that they were reinstated.
But for now they were gone and if they did come back then Draco would make sure that they left Nina alone. Even Millicent Bullistrode dare not mess with a Malfoy.
“May I accompany you to dinner?” He asked with a bow.”
She laughed. “You can if you promise to knock off the ponce act.“
Draco pretended to look wounded. If anyone else had spoken to him like that they would have found themselves suffering some extremely painful hexes.
“For you, anything.” He told her, grinning as he offered her his arm.
“I’ll see you later Kali.” She said to the elf.
As before, when Draco walked her into the Great Hall, their were quite a few eyes on them.
Harry wasn‘t too pleased. Hermione was suspicious. Ron was fuming and Ginny and a few of the other Griffindor girls were staring with their mouths open. Although with the girls it was mainly because many of them fancied Draco.
The Potions Master was extremely angry, and jealous.
He scowled as Draco walked her to her seat and held it out for her. In front of everyone.
As Nina sat down, Draco pushed in her chair for her.
“I am glad that things are well between us Nina. Enjoy your meal.” He told her before taking her hand and kissing the back of it.
“Good evening Professor.“ Draco gave a small bow to Snape before departing to his own table.
Severus was incensed but he said nothing and kept his eyes forward, glaring his usual glare.
Nina hadn’t noticed that he was upset. She was just glad that Draco still wanted to be her friend.
She looked over to the Griffindor table. When she saw her friends she waved. Hermione and Ginny waved back but Ron and Harry turned away.
She frowned. ‘Maybe they hadn‘t seen her.’ Nina had no idea that they and Draco were enemies. Nor did she know about house rivalries.
She turned to talk to Severus but he was scowling too.
“Has something happened Sir?” She asked him.
“Such as Miss Manohel?”
“Well I don’t know do I. It’s just that everyone seems to be in a bad mood.”
“Really? I was not aware of it.”
She shrugged.
“Oh. Do you have any spare time after dinner? I need to talk to you about something.”
“I think I can manage to fit you in to my busy schedule.” He told her sarcastically.
After his latest delve into her mind Severus was pretty certain that she wanted to talk about Lupin.
“Thanks.”
‘What on earth is going on here.’ She wondered. ‘And why is he being such a pain with me?’
She wracked her brain trying to think if she had done anything that would offend him. She could find nothing so she sat and ate her meal in silence as Severus ignored her for the rest of the meal.
She wanted to talk to him about the Wolfsbane potion for Remus and then hopefully, about what Kali had told her today. Maybe he could help her sort it out in her head.
When she had finished Nina got up and left. She looked to her left as she walked towards the hall doors. Hermione and Ginny had their backs to her so didn’t see her. When she drew level with Harry and Ron she looked at them and smiled but the boys avoided her eyes and turned away.
She hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should try and talk to them, but thought better of it. If they were mad at her for something, she didn’t feel up to dealing with it right now. Maybe she would see Hermione later and she would tell her what was wrong. She decided to carry on and wait for the Professor outside of his office.
It seemed to Nina that he took forever.
Severus had taken his time. On purpose, wanting time to think about how he would handle things. He was not pleased that Nina had lied to him about the events that had taken place between her and Lupin. Nor was he happy about what she intended to meet him at the next full moon. And why had she come to dinner on Malfoy’s arm? If she had wanted someone to accompany her she should have come to him. And that little slime ball had the nerve to kiss her hand right in front of him.
He decided that it was time to lay some ground rules. He had perhaps been a little too soft on her. He did not intend to intimidate her, and he would never beat her. But if Severus Snape was going to have a serious relationship then he would have to be the one in control. It was not in his nature to be any other way. He would give her a spanking though if necessary. He rather hoped it was. The dungeon’s Master was back.
He was surprised when he turned into the dungeons to see Nina sitting on the floor outside of his door and doodling in the dust.
“You wanted to speak with me.”
He snapped.
“Ooo. You startled me.” She told him as she got up and started brushing the dust from her clothes. “Yes I do. If that’s okay.”
She was peering at him uncertainly now. ‘What is going on.’ She wondered.
“Look, if your busy I can come back.”
“I told you that I would speak with you.” He told her as they walked in and he closed the door.
Normally Nina would go and sit on his sofa, but when he sat at his desk and indicated the hard chair in front of his desk she sat on that instead.
“Well?” Severus growled.
She frowned and twiddled with her fingers.
“I do not have all night Miss Manohel.”
Nina stared at him shocked.
“Well if you weren’t being so mean.”
He eyed her dangerously. “Perhaps if you were to state your business?”
“Maybe now’s not a good time.” She told him quietly.
‘How can I talk to him about anything when he’s being such pain in the arse.’
She stood to leave. “I….I’ll come back when you’re not so busy.”
Severus flicked his wand at the door. It was now locked and warded. He wanted an explanation and he wanted it tonight.
She spun round to him.
“Why did you do that?” ‘He’s locked me in.‘ She was nervous and her voice trembled slightly.
“Sit.”
“I don’t want to. I want to go now, please.”
“Why did you lie to me about Lupin?”
“What?”
“You are not deaf Miss Manohel and it was a simple enough question.”
“I want to leave.”
“No. You will sit down and do what you came her to do.” He hissed at her. “But this time you will tell me the truth. All of it.”
“I didn’t lie. Who said I did? I don’t understand what’s wrong with you. And why have you locked me in?”
He ignored her question. “You came to ask me about the Wolfsbane I believe. Is that correct?”
“Wh….yes. How did you know that? Have you spoken to Mr Lupin? Is he here?”
“I have not and no, he is not. I know because when I used our link to find out what had happened between your self and two of my students yesterday I also happened across the events at Number twelve. All of them.” He added quietly.
“You….” Nina didn’t know whether to be angry that he had pried in her mind, and said nothing to boot. Or be afraid that he was angry at her for not telling him.
He saw her expressions as she thought about what he had said to her. He did not want her to be afraid but he needed her to realise that he would not allow her to lie to him. If they were to have a proper relationship eventually, then she must learn to respect him and trust him.
She would also need to learn that she must obey him without question.
He wanted Nina and he would have her. But he would not share her. Having friends was fine but she could not cavort about the castle on anyone’s arm but his.
“You have the sample with you I take it.” It was not a question even though he made it sound like one.
“Yes.” She held it out to him.
“And what would you have me do with it?” Severus looked at the bottle in his hand with distaste.”
“I….it is to be sliced evenly, lengthways. One half to be added, fine end first, on the ninth day of brewing as the moon rises. Once the potion is complete, it must be separated into two equal doses. The second half must be ground to a fine consistency and added to one half only, on the night of the full moon.”
“And if I do? Then what?”
“If? But you must. You have to.“ She told him desperately.
“Do not attempt to tell me what I must and must not do Miss Manohel. I shall decide whether or not I shall add this piece of Mongrel hair, after you have told me what it will do.”
Nina gaped at him. She could not understand what was going on.
“But why wouldn’t you? Why are you being so horrible?”
“Why did you lie to me? Why did you tell me that you and Lupin only talked when you were alone with him?” He narrowed his eyes at her. “Why did you not change back into yourself as soon as you had got your sample?”
“If I had told you what had happened, you would have got angry.”
“I am angry now” He shouted at her. Emphasising each word clearly.
She jumped. “That’s why I didn’t tell you. I didn’t want you to be angry with me. Everyone had been shouting and screaming at him when he had done nothing. If I told you then you would have started shouting at me. Besides, I….we….there wasn’t really a chance was there?”
Her reddened face told Severus clearly that she was thinking about what had happened between them in the kitchen.
“Please. I need to help him. I can help him. But if I’m going to do it soon then I need your help. Otherwise it will take another month after the next full moon.” She was struggling to keep her tears in check.
“This is the only time that I shall repeat myself. If I do as you request, what will happen?”
“Mr Lupin will drink it as he always does.” She told him quietly.
Severus was getting impatient and he slammed his hands down onto the desk before rising and walking round to loom over her.
He stood in front of her chair and leaned down, placing his hands on the arms of her chair.
Nina looked up at him, her eyes wide.
Their noses were nearly touching and Severus waited for her to speak.
She pushed herself as far back into the chair as she could. It made no difference at all.
He had told her that he would never beat her and she believed him. But he was scary like this and she didn’t know if he would do.
“When he drinks the half of the potion with the….the first half of the whisker added to it, it will prevent the change.”
Severus waited. He did not move. His face did not waver from it’s dangerous expression.
Tears were falling down her cheeks now but he refused to let it move him.
“When you add the second half, it will….it will….make it easier for….me to….to help him.”
There she had said it. She waited to see what he would do.
“Help him how?”
Nina didn’t want to tell him that. He would try and stop her. She looked down as she twiddled with her fingers.
He in turn drummed the arms of the chair with his fingers.
Still she hesitated.
Before she knew what had happened she was out of the chair. Replaced by him, and was laying face down across his lap. He had one had on her back holding her down and the other was waiting on her backside.
She tried to get of him but he held her down.
“Get off me. Let me go.”
She clawed at his lower legs. The only part of him she could reach.
He grabbed her hands and held them behind her back. He did not hurt her. That was not his intention.
“You have one last chance to tell me what you believe will happen with Lupin when he drinks that altered potion. If you do not. Then I shall spank you and then you shall tell me.”
Just to prove his point the brought his hand down to her backside once. Not too hard. Just enough to sting.
She stiffened in shock.
“You hit me.” She told him incredulously.
“No. I spanked you.“
“You hit me. Your not supposed to hit me. You said you loved me. Kali said were supposed to….and you hit me.”
“I spanked you, and I shall do it again if you do not do as you are told. Do not think my feelings for you mean that you can lie to me and try to deceive me. Any relationship we shall have must be based on trust. And furthermore, I shall be in charge. As the man, I shall be your protector. I am by nature a very dominant man Nina. That is something that I cannot change. Do not hope to tell me what I can and cannot do.”
He brought his hand down a second time.
“You know that I will do this Nina. This is not the first time that I have had to spank you. I hope it will be the last.”
Actually he didn’t but….
“Alright I’ll tell you she sobbed. Let me up.”
“No. Tell me. Then I shall consider what you have told me. Then I shall let you up.”
“Nina was defeated. “It will help me to take away his curse okay.“
“How?”
“By ca….calling the one who turned him into what he is.”
What.” He whispered quietly.
“See. I knew you wouldn’t like it. I’ve told you now let me go.”
“You have told me nothing. Now continue.”
“No. That’s it.”
Thwack. He brought his hand down twice more.
She sobbed. “We will call him and when he comes I can remove the curse. Please. Let me up now.”
“No,” He was rubbing her bottom absently as he processed what she had just told him. “You expect me to adapt the potion so that you can meet Fenrir Greyback? Then what? You all sit and have a nice cosy little chat.”
This last was not a question. Severus was nearly hysterical at the thought that she believed that she could call Greyback and live.
“Of course we won’t sit and chat. I don’t know yet what will happen. I just know that it will.” “It must.”
“Please Severus. Let me up. I‘m sorry I didn‘t tell you. I really am.”
He did not speak for a moment, his hand continuing to rub small circles on her buttocks.
“Why must you do this? Lupin has managed all these years and he is not the only one to have been turned. What makes him so, important to you?”
“I don’t know. He‘s not. At least not in the way that your important to me. I‘ve learned so much lately that I don‘t understand it myself. I only know that this is something that I have to do.”
“I am so important to you that you preferred to seek out the company of Mr Malfoy this evening when you could have come to me”
He brought his hand down again to emphasise his point.
“Ow. No I didn’t. He came to say sorry about what his friends did. Kali had just finished telling me loads of stuff and I was still upset and he was nice to me. I was hoping that I could talk to you about it tonight. I thought you would understand. But then you were….I don’t know, cold, as if you didn’t like me any more, and you wouldn’t even talk to me at dinner and Harry and Ron wouldn’t even look at me and I don’t know what’s going on anymore. I don‘t think I ever did.“
She took a deep breath.
“I didn’t mean to make you mad. Draco is a friend like Hermione and Ginny. Like I thought Harry and Ron were.”
“And me? What do you consider me to be?”
“You are….we are….look, if you stop rubbing my bum and let me up it will be easier to talk.”
Severus stilled the hand that until now, he had not even realised he had been moving.
He removed it and helped her to stand before leading her over to the sofa.
Once they were seated he asked her. “So you have no….intimate feelings for Malfoy?”
“What? No. Of course I don’t.”
“And Lupin?”
“No. Mr Lupin is someone I have to help but I don’t want to….be with him.“
Nina could feel herself reddening again.
“And me?”
She worried the sleeve of her jumper as she told him nervously.
“You, we, are…you already know. Kali told me that you know so why are you making me say it?”
He took her by the shoulders and brought his hand to her chin and tilted her head so that he could look into her eyes.
“You told me that you loved me. Did you mean it?”
“Yes.” She whispered. “Did you?”
“I did.” He told her. “But I do not share what belongs to me Nina. And you do belong to me now. Do you understand?”
“So I can’t have friends. Be….because we….”
“No. That is not what I am saying. I am telling you that you are not to act so¾
intimate with any male acquaintances that you may have. Any and all intimate contact is to be reserved for me and me alone. ‘Your frolic shall we call it?’ with Lupin was not acceptable. It was also very dangerous. Nor was allowing Mr Malfoy to kiss your hand as he did. Now do you understand?”
Nina looked at him. She only partly understood.
Severus knew that she was trying to figure things out in her mind.
“You will learn, in time what is and is not acceptable. If I tell you that something is not, you will have to take my word for it.”
“Well I don’t think that’s fair. This is the first time in my life I’ve ever had friends. The first time anyone’s even liked me and your telling me that it has to change. Fair enough, things may have gotten a bit out of hand with Mr Lup….”
“A bit!” He roared. “You know as well as I do what he was about to do to you. The man is a bloody animal. He cannot be trusted.”
“He can. And he’s not an animal.
He couldn’t help and he was sorry after.”
“That is precisely my point. When the change comes over him he is an animal. He cannot control is instincts when he is a werewolf.”
Nina knew he was right. About that anyway. She had a narrow escape when he had tried to mate with her.
She lowered her head.
“I see you are beginning to understand now. However, I am still concerned about what you wish to do at the next full moon. I must speak to Albus before I decide whether or not to allow it.”
“I believe you had something else you wished to discuss with me.“
She had. She wanted to talk about her mum and dad. What had happened to them. She wanted to tell him what Kali had told her about all of these Gods and creatures and what had happened all those hundreds of years ago. About who and what she was. But he had foisted even more on her tonight and she was not in the mood to discuss her other problems with him now. Especially about her parents.
“Yes I do. But not tonight please. Not now.”
Severus raised an eyebrow. “Very well. Tomorrow evening. We shall discuss your other matters then.”
