Shaking madly, Harry tried to pull his eyes away from the dog, knowing that's what was triggering this whole mess, but he couldn't. Desperate, as the memory of the two cunts played out, he shook madly, trying to focus anywhere else. He felt hands on him, gentle touches from those he knew cared about him and would never hurt him, but he couldn't stop this no matter what he did. Whimpering, he then felt like he was drugged, body not responding to any commands and the sounds around him muting, like he was wrapped in a thick layer of cotton or something.
At the time this occurred, he wasn't sure what had happened, just that he had drunk the soda they had given him with something it to make him feel better. It was at a point that he had been a little under the weather from some bug going around, so he assumed that it was one of those bits that would help with the symptoms. Then the hazy, groggy feeling of a bad reaction to a medicine had taken over. He had been so out of it, he hadn't been able to stand. After he collapsed in a chair, unable to do much, the two cunts had laughed, talking about how he apparently just couldn't take the most mild of drugs if they caused this reaction. It was then he was introduced to dogs for the first time. The one they brought in—it was huge, a massive Great Dane. In fact, he was sure that he hadn't ever seen one that big in his entire life. Then came the bleeding from being bitten and the pain from what the dog did to him.Eyes still locked on the dog, he then began to relive each excruciating moment of that encounter, from the bites on his shoulders to being ripped from what happened, hearing the laughter from the two red-headed cunts as they watched him being tortured. And it was a step he couldn't move back from as that was then his life from that point on, being made to perform in the animal shows.
Stepping in front of Harry, Sirius put his hands on his cheeks, swearing under his breath at what was going on. He was sure what this was, of course, but hoped like hell they could pull him out of it before it grew into the nightmare of the last few times this had happened. That he wasn't counting on, though. Saying Harry's name gently, he snarled when it had no effect. Looking where Harry's eyes seemed like they were locked, he saw the dog there. “Get the damned dog out of here! Now!” He snapped, cursing worse under his breath. He was sure that it was too late and the flashback couldn't be stopped, but he hoped they could manage. That wouldn't happen if the fucking dog was still there for Harry to focus on.
Not sure what the hell was going on, James held the stunned and shaking Maggie close. Eyes locked on Harry, he snapped, “Don't talk to her like that, Sirius!”Looking at Rufus as Lucius, too, tried to pull Harry out of this, stepping behind him, talking softly, a hand on his head rubbing it, Sirius said, “Get the damned dog out of here and the kid.”Hearing James sputter as Rufus told Donnahill to get the kid and dog out of there, Remus told him, tone icy, “You don't want her to see this, James, or have to explain what is coming. And we have no shot of stopping this as long as that dog is around.”Eyes wide, Narcissa pushed the stammering, white as a sheet Draco behind her then stepped close to Sirius. Bugs was all but flailing in her arms, making noises that sounded panicked. “Give him to Harry,” she told her cousin, hoping that would help. When Sirius took the rabbit, passing him to Harry, talking soothingly, she told Rufus, “Take Draco out of here, too. We don't want him seeing this!” Though she hadn't witnessed the flashbacks herself, she heard enough from Lucius to know she didn't want her son seeing what was coming either. She was pleased when her son was escorted off as well, not protesting, but looking back over his shoulder as he was led away, obviously quite concerned and probably a tad panicked as well.Gently talking to Harry, he managed to get Bugs passed over and Harry's arms wrapped around the rabbit. Though Bugs snuggled in like he did when Harry was upset or hurting, it didn't do any good. The flashback was too far along to stop it. All Harry was doing was trembling, whimpering softly, eyes locked on the place where the dog had been. Dammit! Then the bleeding on the shoulders started. “Fuck!” he muttered. Cupping Harry's cheeks, watching the blooms of blood on the shoulders of Harry's shirt grow bigger, he shook his head then went back to talking to his godson softly, hoping it helped in some way.“We need to set it up so when this is over we can get him to St. Mungos,” Severus gruffed, feeling absolutely helpless as his son went through this torture. They had dealt with this enough to know there was nothing they could do but prepare for what was coming. Black and Lucius were better able to handle this than him or Remus. Though he doubted even they could stop this, they would manage to help once it was over and soothe Harry better as he went through it.Sending Tonks off with instructions on getting a heath related emergency Portkey, Rufus shook his head as he watched the bleeding get worse on Harry's shoulders. Eyes lifting, he looked at the white James, the pale Albus and Lily, who looked horror struck, hands clasped over her mouth. “Do you want them out of here as well?” He thought that would be best and was summoning more people to help.“No,” Remus told him, tone slightly cold as he watched his son. Like Severus, he was feeling helpless, knowing there was nothing they could do now but wait it out. Hearing Rufus start to ask, he said, “I want them to stand here and watch what their 'mistakes' caused Harry. That and how he still has to suffer over what they did. Maybe then they'll understand. Because nothing anyone has said to them is getting it across. This might, finally.”Hearing James sputter, Remus' head whipped in that direction and he snapped, “It's a flashback, James. This is what he gets to deal with. He gets to relive it all, including the pain, emotional torture and injuries that he suffered on a regular basis. This is the result of your 'mistake'. Just because he's out and with us, no longer being abused, doesn't mean it's over. And I want all three of you to stand there and watch this to see just what harm you caused your son!”Motioning a couple of the staff that showed up heeding his emergency call, he had them stand behind the three. “I think that's a good idea,” Rufus gruffed, arms folded over his chest. He knew what this was, unfortunately, and could take a damned good guess what triggered it. With that knowledge, he also knew there was nothing they could do but wait it out. And that would be horrific, especially if it grew worse. “Anything else we need to do?” He then asked. As this lot had dealt with these situations before with Harry, they knew what to do when he didn't.“We need his Mind Healer to meet us there,” Severus sighed, unable to tear his eyes away from his son as he suffered, crossing his arms over his chest. “It won't do any good to get him here as even he won't be able to do a damned thing.”As Rufus tended to that, sending more people off and hearing Madam Bones talk to him after she turned up, Lucius kept talking to Harry. Glancing down, he groaned as he saw the spots of blood form on the seat of Harry's jeans. This would end up plenty bad. Shaking his head, feeling absolutely helpless, he said, “We're going to need a robe or blanket to cover him with when this is done. Send along word to St. Mungos to get his Healer there. Tell him he may need to perform emergency surgery, again.” As Harry's Healer had dealt with the after effects of the flashbacks before, the man would know what he was referring to.Eyes dropping at what Lucius said, Sirius muttered, “Fuck,” when the blood began to seep down the inside of Harry's thighs, coating his jeans in a dark crimson. Oh, this was not good. “Please, Harry,” he said, keeping a soft voice, “come out of it. We're all here. All of us. Nothing's going to happen to you. It's just a memory. Nothing more. It's not happening again.” Though it was a futile effort, he had to try, hoping Harry heard him and it gave him some form of comfort with the hell he was now dealing with.“Make it stop,” Lily muttered completely horrified when the blood began to soak Harry's inner thighs. Tears running down her face, she couldn't pull her eyes away as her son bled, seemingly unable to pull himself out of the memories that were torturing him. Feeling James slip a trembling arm around her shoulders, she leaned against her husband, unable to stop watching.“We can't,” Severus snarled, eyes locked on his son, hoping this didn't go on much longer. The longer it did, the worse the damage would be. As it was, this one looked plenty bad. “It has to run its course and he has to relive the whole damned memory before he'll come out of it.”Putting a hand on Narcissa's arm, someone who had turned her back on the scene, unable to watch, Remus felt her tremble, hearing her breath hitch as she tried to keep her emotions under control. Shutting his eyes and shaking his head, he wanted to lash out at the three being forced to watch as his son endured this torture, but didn't. That wouldn't help anything. He just kept hoping that it would end soon so they could get Harry the help he needed.Feeling his own eyes sting, James' gaze was locked on Harry and what was happening, feeling like he was going to get sick over this. While he had heard all that was said, nothing had sunk in like what he was witnessing. In a strangled voice, he said, “You have to be able to do something!”“We can't,” Remus growled at him. “Sirius and Lucius are doing all they can. As it's gotten this far, there is nothing we can do but wait until it's over then get the damage repaired. That's all, James.”“Oh Merlin, no,” James muttered as drops of blood began to hit the floor.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, the memory stopped. Moaning in agony, body trembling, Harry clutched tightly to Bugs, but his legs buckled on him as the throbbing pain that seemed to encompass his whole lower body made his nerves feel like they were on fire and his muscles feel like they wouldn't work. Feeling two strong arms wrap around him before he could fall, he stiffened until he heard Sirius' voice. “Hurts,” was all he was able to stammer out. As he did, he adjusted to 'reality' again, realizing it was just a flashback and he wasn't back there. That helped, but it wasn't enough as the memory was too fresh and he had to deal with it.
“We have you,” Sirius soothed, holding him close as Lucius cast a lightening charm on Harry so that he didn't drop him. “I'm right here and Lucius is behind you. Snape and Remus are right here as well. Nothing's going to hurt you anymore,” he told Harry gently, stroking his head, being careful where he touched him. Seeing Lucius grab the blanket that was conjured then tuck it around Harry, he told him, keeping a soft tone, “It's just a blanket. Nothing to worry about. We're going to get you to St. Mungos now. They need to look at you because you're bleeding.” Feeling Harry tremble, unable to hold himself up or stand, seeing Lucius grab the Portkey, he sighed, “I'm going to pick you up, Harry. I'll hold you while we Portkey there. Nothing at all to worry about. Lucius is going come with us. Just hold tightly to Bugs and we'll be there in a minute.”Nodding to let Sirius know he heard, Harry couldn't stop shaking and the pain wasn't going away. Feeling Sirius pick him up and cradle him to his chest, like someone would hold a child, he moaned softly, eyes sliding shut.Stepping over as Lucius looped his arm through Sirius', Remus kissed his sweaty son's forehead gently then told him, “Severus and I will be there in a couple minutes. Let them take care of you. Lucius and Sirius will stay with you the whole time.” Seeing Harry nod, he stepped back, relieved that the worst was over, but was now wondering just how much damage they had to fix. After his husband stepped back, Severus rubbed Harry's sweat soaked hair and told him, “Nothing to fear. We'll be there in minutes.” Seeing Harry nod, though not open his eyes, he told Lucius, “Go, now! We'll follow. Fill Stuart in.”“Meet you there,” Lucius gruffed then activated the Portkey, whisking the three of them away.Standing there, swallowing thickly, eyes drifting to the blood spots on the floor, Narcissa lifted her chin. “Fetch Draco, please, Rufus. We need to get to St. Mungos. And, if you could, let Filius know he probably won't return to school until tomorrow. I'm sure you know what to say to him.”“Of course,” Rufus said, sending someone off to get Draco. “We have a Portkey for all of you as well. It'll take you right where it took them.”“Much appreciated,” Narcissa said, taking the Portkey from one of the staff. Glancing in the direction the other three were, she felt her temper spike. Oh, Lily was in tears and even James' eyes were red-rimmed. Albus just looked ancient and sick. “I blame you for this. All three of you! Because of your negligence and unwillingness to take even the most basic of precautions, Harry still has to suffer. While you aren't the ones that abused him, you surely set the circumstances up to let it happen! Did you like watching him suffer? Did that finally drive it all home? Or are you still going to make excuses or press to be in his life?” Stopping, she glared at them. Though she wanted to start shouting and throw hexes, she didn't. Lily had more tears streaming down her face, shoulders shaking. Neither James nor Albus were looking at her. “You disgust me,” she hissed. “All three of you. And I feel sorry for your children. You have to wonder if they don't think you're just going to abandon them too. After all, you did it to poor Harry, so why not them as well?”Hearing the three sputter, Narcissa lifted her chin as a still very pale Draco joined them. “Let's get there,” she told the other two, holding out the Portkey. Seeing Remus and Severus take hold, making sure Draco did as well, she hissed once more, “You three make me ill.” Then she activated the Portkey and it whisked them away. Not looking up, James shook his head, reaching up to rub under his glasses with a trembling hand. He felt completely ill. Holding the now sobbing Lily close, he said, softly, “Let's get Maggie and go home. Once we get ourselves under control that is.” He had a lot to think about since it was now 'real' for him. That and he would indulge in several bouts of beating himself up over this. He wasn't about to do that here, though. That's for damned sure.
After stepping into the area where Sirius and Lucius were waiting, Severus looked around. Black was pacing, a thunderous look on his face, arms crossed over his chest. Lucius was seated in one of the chairs, elbows resting on his knees, hands over his mouth as he looked at the floor. Guiding Narcissa over to where her husband was, making sure Draco sat on the other side of his father, Severus took a seat himself. Waiting for Remus to sit down by him, he asked, “What do we know? Anything yet?”
“He's in surgery,” Sirius huffed, making another trek around the room. “And we had a bitch of a time because he was panicking. Whatever that flashback was about made this all the worse because he did not want to go under. We finally got him talked into it. Bugs is in there with him. He was holding the rabbit when he finally went under. Then he insisted that Lucius and I stay put while they knocked him out. And it took several minutes and a stronger spell for them to manage. On the upside, they can get this fixed rather easily, from what his Healer came out and told us after the scans. Like the last time, it just tore open old scaring and didn't create new problems. He just said this is going to take a couple of hours.”“Stuart is in the building and will come up when he gets word that they're bringing Harry out of it. We filled him in, well, a quick version of it anyway, on what happened. He's going to try to talk to him, but doesn't think it'll help much. At least he'll get the seed planted. He said—well, Mind Healer speak for better out than in. It's a case of he can now press on,” Lucius explained with a shrug.Pleased that this wasn't more serious than it appeared, Severus leaned back and crossed his legs. “And now we wait.” Smirking, he said, softly, “Remus, it was masterful making the three of them observe what happened. That can only help all of us later on.”“It was,” Sirius chuckled, grinning slightly. “Good job.”“If Harry was going to suffer through this yet again, I wanted them to see it,” Remus said softly, shaking his head. “It's the only way they are truly going to understand.” Lowering his voice, he added, “And as a form of payback, the only one Harry's likely to get in this matter.”“Very true,” Lucius said smugly, leaning back and putting a hand on the back of his son's head. “We can hope that they now have a small taste of what Harry goes through. And that it gives them nightmares.” It was petty, he knew that, but in this case it was probably warranted. Perhaps they would now stop the foolishness or back off slightly. That would only help.
Looking up as the door opened, everyone then straightened up in their chairs. As expected, it was Stuart coming out. He hadn't been in with Harry long, but they wanted to see what he said. This was—bad. Plenty bad. Harry had come out of the spell fighting. It had been bad enough that he had taken a swing at Lucius and Sirius, both, before they could get him calmed down enough for him to realize who they were. Then came the fight to get him to take something for the pain. Whatever that flashback had brought on was making what was already there plenty worse.
Taking a seat and smoothing down his robes, Stuart looked around then said, “Without divulging anything I can't discuss, I can say that I didn't get very far with him. It was basically that he doesn't want to talk about it. I don't think that comes as a surprise to any of us. All I really wanted to do was let him know I was aware and we'll talk about it, well, as much as he wants, during our next session. From what I can tell, he has calmed down. Whatever disorientation there was from the spell is gone. With that, he's more rational. While there is some refusal to take some potions still, we've got a compromise worked out. As always, he's willing to take them if one of you gives them to him and he has your assurances. Then, when he gets home, that Severus brews them. That's all that I was able to manage, but I think it's enough to get you where you need to go.”“We can easily handle that,” Severus told him with a determined nod, happy the man was able to get something accomplished. After all, this wasn't that great of a hardship and something that would be expected from Harry.“He did have one odd request,” seeing anxious looks tossed in his direction, he pressed on. “He wants to spend some time alone with Remus at the moment. At least for a little while. I'm sure Remus will let all of you know when he's ready to see the rest of you.”“I will,” Remus assured everyone. This was odd, but nothing he couldn't deal with. In fact, it made him happy to be allowed to give his son a form of comfort since Harry wasn't one to allow such things from anyone but Lucius or Sirius.“That's all. If you need me or there is another emergency, don't hesitate to get in contact.” Seeing nods and relieved looks, he stood, smoothing down his robes. As the worst was over with this, though there were plenty more problems coming from the fallout, time alone with Harry was probably something all of them needed.
Lying in the bed with Harry, holding him close as his son's head rested against the front of his shoulder, with Bugs curled up in between them, Remus just talked to him softly, about all kinds of things that pretty much meant nothing. Finally, Harry was going back to sleep. As promised, he had taken the pain draughts and the blood replenishers when he gave them to him. Quickly after that, when Harry said he wanted to curl up to him, Remus caught on to what his son wanted; comfort. This was something he always came to him for and he would gladly give it.
Stroking Harry's head softly as his son began to doze again, Remus continued to talk, promising that everyone would be here when he woke again. Secretly, he was pleased with this turn of events. Harry rarely asked for anything from any of them, other than minor bits like assistance with spells or lessons. For him to want comfort and specifically ask for it was a very positive sign, despite the rottenness that had gone on that day.Feeling Harry give him a squeeze with the one arm draped over him, Remus kissed him on top of the head. “Just sleep, Harry. I'll be right here when you wake up. I swear I won't move and will hold you the whole time. You know, as always, you're perfectly safe with me.”“Thanks,” Harry muttered as he slipped deeper to sleep on the wave of pain killing draughts. As long as his dad would be there when he woke up, something he knew would happen because he always kept his promises, he would be fine. Whatever dreams would come from this he could handle. Then he would press on. Oh sure, he loved it when Sirius held him. There was no doubt there, but it wasn't the same as his dad. There was something about Remus that felt best when he was stressed like this. He didn't know why, but it did. So, he would go with that.Smiling just a little, Remus continued to talk, switching to telling Harry all about Hogwarts, what was there, what the grounds were like, all of it. When he felt his son completely relax and his body go limp, breath deepening to indicate he was finally fully asleep, he sent the signal for everyone else to come in. He would stay right here, though, just like he promised, until Harry woke.
