He was fuming. How dare his family pick that orphan over him! Ron paced the room Dumbledore had given him. He was thankful to have a place to sleep and food to eat, but it didn’t dim the rage that was burning in him. He needed to calm down, he knew that. Dumbledore and he were going to figure out how to get him back in his family’s good graces and Harry back where he needed to be on the Light side. He took a deep breath and went to talk to the Headmaster.
“Ah, Mister Weasley! Do come in! Have a sat, I had tea made.” Dumbledore said with a smile. If Harry wouldn’t follow his orders, he knew Ronald would. The boy would do anything to have the spotlight on him.
“Professor.” Ron took a seat and accepted the tea offered.
“Now, we need to figure out a way to set things right. I suggest you write to Miss Granger. She doesn’t fall under the disownment statement since she isn’t blood and would be most sympathetic if the letter is worded right. Harry, I fear, may be a lost cause. He is too set in his ways and I fear he has been swayed by the Dark. This means you must take his place as the hero for the Light. You have been in the thick of it since the beginning and know just as much as Harry does.”
“I will do anything to ensure the Light wins!” Ron said, his voice filled with passion and his eyes shining.
‘Just think of how my family will take me back when I become a War Hero.’ He thought as he sipped his tea.
“We must let the world know that Harry is no longer the Savior they hoped he would be. With these wild interviews he’s given, that won’t be hard to do. He has shown how he’s turned his back on us, on the Light. We must do one ourselves naming you the new leader and savior of the world. We must plan it carefully though. Too soon and the world won’t believe it, too late and Harry may have too much power.”
“How about right before school starts? Get the parents talking to the kids about it and we could undermine his plans here.” Ron stated as he reached for a biscuit.
“That is brilliant! Just enough time for Harry’s interview to fade in people’s memories and for us to plant a new plan in them! Well done Ronald!” Dumbledore was pleased! This boy had shown him the window he needed to take Harry down a peg or two.
‘He will be settled into Potter Manor by then, feeling secure in his plans. This will throw him for a loop!’
Dumbledore and Ron discussed their plan for taking Harry down.
“Now, when the interview comes out, I want you to send a letter to Miss Granger telling her everything I am about to tell you. Do not let her know it came from me. Tell her you stumbled across it somehow and, you still wanting to help, thought she should know about it. This will create doubt in her mind about the authenticity of the interview.”
Dumbledore then told Ron all about Voldemort’s past, the Horcrux’s he created, and what he thought they were. With Harry having access to most of Hogwarts and several of the items in question, he could still do all the work. The only problem would be getting to the one in Harry. Ron listened to every word and for the first time ever, took notes. He didn’t want to get a single thing wrong. When Dumbledore was done speaking he showed Ron the Journal and the Ring.
“That leaves five more to be found. Four from the founders and the snake.” Ron stated.
“Yes, I do believe that Harry may be in possession of at least the necklace since he inherited Slytherin’s vault. Until we know if he inherited Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw’s vaults, the necklace and whatever Tom picked from Gryffindor will be in Harry’s possession.” Dumbledore knew well the Tom never used anything from Gryffindor, that Harry was the Gryffindor horcrux.
“Hufflepuff’s chalice and Ravenclaw’s diadem could be anywhere? How am I supposed to find them? I’m guessing they can’t be summoned or you would have them already.”
“That would be correct. They are owned by someone I believe or well protected by spells that do not allow them to be summoned.”
Ron and Dumbledore chatted some more about the Horcrux’s and how to destroy them. When it grew late, Ron returned to his room. He stayed up until dawn writing the first letter he was to send to Hermione. He sent it off and crossed his fingers she would show it to his mother.

Hermione was doing her school work when the large brown owl tapped on her window. She answered and removed the letter attached. As she sat down to read it, she fed the owl some biscuit she had left over from her evening tea.
Hermione,
I was an idiot. I don’t know what came over me that night but deep down I didn’t mean what I said. I would be lost without my family, even Percy. Since father banned me from reaching out to them, you are the only one I trust enough to write to and get my letter to my mother. Please tell her I am so sorry and a right fool for the thoughtless words. I know I have the habit of not thinking before I speak and this was the worst case of that ever. Let her know that I am safe. Dumbledore gave me a room at Hogwarts and I have been doing so wandering while here. I think I may have found some information that could help Harry. I’ll write you as soon as I have all the details. I know, shocking, right? There isn’t anything else for me to do here. I can’t go to Hogsmead or fly on the pitch so I figured I’d do what I should have been doing along, helping. I’ll understand if you don’t write back.
Ron
Hermione sat dumbfounded. That did and didn’t sound like Ron. Especially the researching part. She took the letter to Harry. He looked it over and frowned.
“I don’t like this Hermione. I have this gut feeling that this is a plot set up by Dumbledore. Don’t respond, let us see what happens.”
“I agree. I had the same feeling when I read he was doing research. He always finds something else to do, no matter how bored he is.”
Hermione took the letter and went back to her room. She told the owl she had no reply and he could go home if he wanted. The owl gave a soft hoot and flew off. That was the last Hermione heard from Ron for a while. He days were filled with lessons with Lady Malfoy and helping Harry sort through his never-ending trunks of hidden treasures. She had just left him and Malfoy digging through a trunk. It was filled with books and there was one that had caught her eye. School would be starting a couple weeks and she wanted to get as much reading done before they left as she could. She had just started when the owl from before arrived with another letter.

There was no reply. Ron figured there wouldn’t be. He went about his days, planning how he would act around his former friends. He wasn’t sure he was a good enough actor to pull off being their friend any more. He thought about the glory he was going to get and he thought about the interview coming up. Dumbledore had set it up with Skeeter. They knew her writing wasn’t trusted by Harry. It would lend authenticity to the story being made up. He still couldn’t believe that the Minister couldn’t get Harry to take back his story. Ron shook his head. He decided to go back to his room and write out the next letter to Hermione. He was sitting at his desk, trying to figure out how to sound authentic. He decided he would just write and see how it came out.
Hermione,
I found the information I was looking for! You know how we had always wondered what was up with that diary from second year? Turns out it’s something called a Horcrux. Dark wizards create them when they want to live forever. From what I’ve read, the more there are, the more distorted the soul becomes. This means He-who-must-not-be-named, would have several. The diary was one of them and I figured he’d use something from each house. I think even his snake might be one. I’m not sure how many he has though. This could severely hinder our fight against him. Dumbledore would know, he knew Him as a child and would have an idea of what could have been used. I’ll give you all my notes when you get here.
Ron
Ron read the letter over again and smiled. It sounded good in his head. He set it aside and sat back. The interview was in two days, he’d send it that day. She should get it before his interview hit the evening Prophet. He spent the next two days going over his answers and what he would say for the interview. When the day arrived, he was nervous.
‘What if I can’t pull this off? Oh, stop it! You are the new savior of the Wizarding world!’ Ron thought as he walked to the Headmasters office. Once there, he saw Skeeter was already waiting for him. He took a sear across from her and accepted a cup of tea from Dumbledore. With a smile, they started the interview. They spent over an hour talking. When Skeeter was finished, Ron couldn’t have been more pleased. A wicked grin spread across his face. He rushed back to his room and sent off the letter to Hermione.
‘This will show them that I am to be respected and accepted into their team.’ He thought as he watched the bird fly off.

After quickly reading the letter, Hermione dashed off, back to Harry and Draco. She burst into the room just as Harry was reading the evening news. She watched his face grow dark. When he looked up, he saw she had the letter.
“From Ron?” he asked.
“Yes. He says he found some information that we could use and it is quite distressing.”
“This cannot be a coincidence.” Harry handed her the paper as she handed him the letter.

Hermione couldn’t believe what she had just read. Harry looked just as baffled and passed the letter to Draco. As Draco was finishing, the floo roared to life and Molly stepped through.
“Please tell me you don’t believe a word the vile woman has written?” She asked.
“For once, I kind of do. Ron wants to be in the spotlight, now he is. He makes me look like a bad guy whole stole his family and he looks like a hero.” Harry said as he watched Draco grab the cup. With a swift flick of his hand he sliced the cup in two. There was a loud scream, one from the cup and one from Harry. Harry fell over, grasping his head. He felt his magic lash out and he pulled himself down into as deep of a meditative state as he could get. What he saw amazed him. His magic was fighting the dark spot on his core. He watched as the spot got smaller and smaller. Harry nudged his magic to completely wipe it out. When the black was gone from his core, Harry felt a searing pain rip through him His head felt like it was splitting in two. He fought to breath, to stay conscious, and lost. As the world turned black around him, he thought he could hear a faint voice screaming from far away.

In a small, run down home in the middle of nowhere, Voldemort felt two of his Horcrux’s be destroyed.
‘How did they get found?’ He thought as he writhed in agony. Nobody should have found them. He was down to three, the diadem, Nagini, and the locket.
“Bella! Find me that locket!” He screamed. He heard Bellatrix laugh as she sped off to do what her Master bid.
