AN: It's me again, I guess inspiration has really struck me recently lol I'd like to say thank you to everyone one who has ever read or reviewed my story. Each and every review is touching. Anyway, all reviews, comments or corrections welcome, I really like to know what you think. Enjoy! :)

Draconia Lesoto - Thank you so much for pointing out my stupid mistake. I went back to about 7 chapters (I think) and changed all the defiantly to definitely. I'm glad you're liking the plot and I hope you like this next chapter. You'll have to keep your fingers crossed for Harry cause i'm not giving anything away hehe.

unneeded - It's definitely going to be interesting seeing Voldyshorts and Dumblemort teaming up. And i'm not saying ANYTHING about your last question hehe, you tell me lol. Glad you're still enjoying the story and I hope you like this update :)

Chapter 22 – An Apple a Day

Things started to settle down after the disastrous Hogsmead trip. This only means that there had been no more attacks by Death Eaters. Generally even outside of Hogwarts things had quietened down and this just didn’t seem right to Severus. It was the calm before the storm. He could just tell that something was going to happen soon, he just didn’t know what. Several months had passed since the attack and things were back to normal, well as normal as Hogwarts would ever get while Harry graced its hallowed halls. Severus smiled thinking of his mate, Harry was now nearly 5 months pregnant and the Christmas holidays were fast approaching. This would be their first Winter Solstice and Saturnalia together as a bonded couple. He already had so much to be grateful for; he had his soul mate and a child on the way. Severus tried not to think too much about that really. He adored Harry and the child that he hadn’t even met yet. But he was also scared; scared that he wouldn’t make a good father. After all he didn’t have the best role model, an abusive drunk who ended up beating his wife to death. A shiver ran down his spine. He couldn’t afford to think like this. He would go with the flow, protect Harry and their child with his life and try to be the best father he could be.

Severus was quite worried about his mate. Harry seemed slightly out of sorts the last couple of days and he couldn’t afford to be. They had to be on guard more than ever now. There had been an alarming amount of ‘accidents’ happening around Harry. Stray curses in the DADA class that nearly caused part of the roof to come down on top of his mate. The stairs would suddenly freeze or jolt and Harry would be hurtled towards the floor at an alarming rate and if Harry wasn’t a phoenix then he wouldn’t have been able to survive. Statues and suits of armour would suddenly seem to have a life of their own and jump out and attack him. Not to mention how clumsy he’d gotten, it was as if someone was constantly firing tripping hex’s at his mate.

Luckily Harry’s friends were sticking by him and always seemed to be around. On the rare occasions when he saw Harry walking alone down a corridor, the only thing that stopped him chasing after him was seeing Dobby creeping after him, trying to stay hidden. He was sure Harry knew Dobby was there but he didn’t seem to mind. It was obvious that he cared more about their unborn child than being bothered by Dobby following him.

Severus was just sitting down on the couch in their lounge when Harry came in looking worse for wares. Harry instantly made his way over to his mate and curled up into his side, well as much as he could with his protruding stomach.

Harry sighed when he felt Severus’s arm go around him. “Sev, I feel weird. It’s like something is wrong but not at the same time. Do you know what I mean? Everything seems out of whack even my magic.” Harry said tiredly while closing his eyes and resting his head on Severus’s shoulder.

Severus’s worry spiked as Harry seemed to slip into unconsciousness at his side. He swiftly picked him up and held him very close as he quickly flashed straight to the infirmary. He bellowed for the nurse as soon as he landed “Poppy!”

The nurse rushed out of her office at hearing the distressed cry of the headmaster. The scene that greeted her made her stop and gasp before her instinct kicked in. “Oh my! What happened? Lay the poor boy on the bed quickly”

“I don’t know what happened Poppy. He came back to our rooms very tired and said he felt ‘out of whack’ and that there was something wrong with his magic; then he seemed to pass out and I brought him straight here. What do you think could be wrong? Is it the baby?” Severus asked in a clearly distressed state.

“Hmmm it could be” Poppy mumbled.

“Oh god no!” whispered Severus as a single tear leaked from his eye.

“Now Severus even if it is the baby it doesn’t mean it’s serious” Poppy told him.

Severus just nodded and clutched Harry’s hand to his chest, not taking his eyes off his mate.

Meanwhile Poppy was waving her wand in intricate patterns and mumbling in Latin under her breath. When she was done a light formed around Harry’s stomach. The light was deep orange and pulsed twice in a steady rhythm. Poppy stared at the light before exclaiming, “Oh Severus!”

Severus’s eyes snapped up to Poppy and then quickly to where she was staring. He didn’t understand what the light meant but he implored her to explain, “Poppy! Please!”

She looked at him with tears in her eyes, “There is a tremendous drain on Harry’s magic as his body fights to sustain the pregnancy. Now this normally happens in male pregnancies however there seems to be a significantly larger drain right now. It should level out soon but there are a few potions that you could brew that would help stabilise him in the meantime.”

Severus was confused; this didn’t seem like such bad news. This was something that could be fixed with a few simple potions. So why was Poppy nearly in tears? “There’s something you’re not telling me Poppy” he demanded.

Poppy nodded before continuing, “Yes there is. The reason that there is such a huge drain on his magic is because you’re having twins! Congratulations!” she happily informed him.

It took a minute before he realised that the tears in her eyes were happy tears and that there was nothing wrong with his mate. The rest of what she had to say then started to sink in. ‘Twins’ this was his last thought before his eyes rolled back in his head and he promptly fainted.

Harry woke up and instantly knew that he wasn’t in his rooms with Severus. His eyes snapped open and focused on the white sterile walls of the infirmary. ‘At least I know where I am’ he thought to himself. He realised that he felt a lot more rested that he did when he got home yesterday. He looked to his right and noticed his mate sleeping in a chair next to his bed. It looked really uncomfortable and when Severus shifted slightly his hair moved to reveal a bruise on his forehead. As quickly as he could manage with his protruding stomach he sat up and leaned forward to lightly brush his fingers over the mark. As soon as his fingers grazed the mark Severus’s eyes snapped open. “What happened to you Sev, are you okay?” asked Harry quietly.

Severus’s eyes shone with affection as he said, “You wake up in bed in the infirmary and you’re asking me if I’m okay? I was worried to death about you but apart from that I’m fine luv.”

This caused Harry to frown because he could quite clearly see the bruise on his mates head. “Then what happened to your head?” he asked.

If Harry didn’t know any better he would have said that Severus blushed, but that was impossible. “Oh that’s nothing, don’t worry about it.”

“Sev…” Harry growled.

They were interrupted by a chuckle coming from the other side of the room. Poppy was watching their interaction with fondness before she happily gave Harry the information he was seeking, “He fainted Mr Potter-Snape when I informed him that you were magically drained because you’re having twins!”

Harry couldn’t believe what he had just heard! “T-twins?!” he shouted just as Luna and Draco walked into the room. “Sev! Merlin! I can’t believe we’re having twins!” Harry beamed at his mate, who couldn’t help but smile back at him. Harry’s smiles always seemed to be infectious.

“Congratulations Harry!” Luna exclaimed as she reached his bed and proceeded to pull him into a fierce hug. As she sat down on the bed next to him her face went vacant and her voice became even more dreamy than normal as she said, “From the ashes shall the children of flames rise. One the heir of light, one the heir of dark. Peace shall reign under their rule.”

Everyone stared at her in awe and bewilderment. “Miss Lovegood do you have seers blood in your family?” asked Severus after the shock wore off. He really hated prophesies but at least this one didn’t say his children would be the only ones able to defeat some monster like his mate.

“I believe there may be some seer blood in my line but quite far back if I’m correct headmaster.” Luna said politely.

“You know Lu, that could be a handy skill to have if you could harness it.” Draco said conversationally.

Luna shook her head sadly, “No Dray, it doesn’t work that way. The more you force it the harder it becomes and I might miss something that I was meant to see because I was trying to see something I shouldn’t.”

Draco just smiled at her and didn’t even try to hide his emotions behind a cold mask. His time with Luna had really helped him find who he really was and not to try and live up to his fathers ideals. “It was only a suggestion Lu”

The first time Draco had called Luna Lu he thought he’d imagined it but obviously not. This must be his pet name for her. Severus looked sideways at Harry and mouthed, ‘Lu?’ but all Harry did was shrug and smile.

Poppy coughed behind the group to remind them of her presence, “Would you like to know the sex of your babies?”

Harry looked at his mate and thought at him, ‘What do you think Sev? Can we know or would you rather it is a surprise?’

Severus only contemplated for a second before replying. ‘I would like to know luv, that is if you don’t mind?’

Harry smiled before he pulled Severus down for a quick kiss. “We’d like to know the sex please Poppy” asked Severus.

Poppy smiled down at the couple. “Both boys and they’ll be a handful if their father’s are anything to go by”

Harry smiled smugly at her, “That they will be”

The group all chatted a little longer before deciding that it was time to leave and that Harry should return to his own rooms to get some much needed rest. None of the people in the infirmary notice the figure in the shadows peering in through the crack in the door. The figure melted further back into the shadows and disappeared before the group with Draco in the lead left the infirmary.

The group was about to split up and go their separate ways when Harry asked Luna and Draco to come to their rooms because he wanted to talk to them in private.

Once everyone was comfortably sitting in their lounge and Harry was happily perched on Severus’s lap he decided to get straight to the point. “Luna, Draco you have both been great friends to me over the last couple of months. You’ve both stood by my side and helped me in many different ways. You’ve fought by my side and saved me from so many accidents that I’ve lost count!” he said.

“That would be 57 Mr Harry Potter Snape Phoenix Lord Sir!” Squeaked Dobby from the top of the book shelf that seemed to be his favourite spot now.

This caused Draco to snicker as Harry glared at Dobby. “Thanks for that Dobby” Harry said sarcastically.

Harry turned his attention back to Luna and Draco. “Well anyway, I’m trying to say that you have both come to be for lack of a better word trusted advisors. Also you are both powerful in your own right but the bond you seem to share is developing and making you stronger. We both know that we’re in a war and that it’s only going to escalate. I want you two to both be my lieutenants, second to only myself and Severus.” Harry paused to let them absorb the information.

They looked at each other and Harry could have sworn that they were talking like he and Severus did. After a few minutes they turned to him and it was Draco that spoke. “We want you to understand that we would have been by your side no matter what. That we are making our choice freely and based on things that have been discussed before. We want you to understand that this isn’t a spur of the moment thing. We would both be honoured to take the position and to stand by both you, Severus and your future children.”

Harry had tears in his eyes as he got up from Severus’s lap and hugged them both. “Thank you”

The moment was only broken when Fawkes started singing ‘We are family’ by Sister Sledge.
