Harry watched anxiously as his godfather paced back and forth. The man was agitated, scratching at his skin, and growling under his breath. Sirius would pause occasionally in his pacing to curl in on himself before stretching and starting to pace again.
They were in the Room of Requirement. Remus had been the one to direct the room into what they needed. The room had never failed Harry before and it did not fail this time. They were provided with a simple room, two chairs sat in the corner with a small fireplace that had a nicely lit fire. The door had disappeared when it was closed behind them.
*The first shift takes the longest. This is normal, Harry.* Remus, who had already shifted into Moony, tried to reassure the young vampire. Truth was he was just as anxious. He had tried to comfort his mate only to have said mate snap and swing at him in agitation.
Harry swallowed thickly and nodded. “How long does it normally take?”
“Depends on the werewolf.” Edge stood the closest to Sirius currently watching him intently. “I’m afraid this one is not developing too smoothly.”
Moony whined. *No, it is not. I was afraid of this happening. His animagus form is going to make this so much harder for him.* Moony held a touch of guilt in his voice though he did not look away from his mate.
Edge glanced over at the large tawny wolf before turning back to Sirius with narrowed eyes. “I had not thought of that hurdle.”
“Why would Padfoot make it harder?”
*It’s a relatively well known fact that werewolves cannot have animagus forms. The wolf won’t allow another animal in its space.*
Harry looked between his Sire and Guardian alarmed. “He’s going to lose Padfoot?”
“I can hear you.” Sirius suddenly growled making Harry jump at the force of it. The dark haired man moved his hands over his ears gripping his hair in his fists. “Shut up!” He yelled, dropping to his knees and curling on himself. He screamed.
Moony and Harry both moved to go to him but Edge raised an arm to hold them back. Moony growled at him but Edge only returned a glare. The two stared each other down. Harry started to fear he would have to break up a fight between them before Moony nodded.
Edge stepped closer to Sirius who was panting by this point. “Sirius, can you hear me?” His voice was calm and steady.
Harry could just see bones shifting under his godfathers skin and grimaced. It took some time for Sirius to answer. “Yes.” It was said through clenched teeth.
“Don’t fight him, Sirius.”
Sirius jerked his head up to glare at Edge with a growl. “I’m not trying to.” His eyes glowed a bright blue and his teeth looked sharper in his mouth.
“Yes, you are.” Edge kept his voice calm only speaking in between cries and growls. “Let him go.”
Sirius howled. Bones snapped as he threw himself back. “I can’t.” The gravelly voice was filled with anguish. Moony whined beside Harry. Harry felt his heart break for both of his godfathers.
“You have to or the wolf is going to rip you both apart.” Edge’s voice remained calm though his body was tense.
Harry watched with tears as Sirius writhed and jerked on the floor. Sirius had started to claw at his skin despite Edge’s best attempts to stop him.
Moony moved to help but was snarled at. “Stay away.” Sirius growled.
Moony whined beside him, his whole body tense and head hung low. Harry hugged the tawny wolf around the neck to offer his support.
*I don’t understand. Why won’t he let me close? It’s like the potion isn’t working.* Moony sounded wrecked. It was clear that he did not intend for anyone to hear his words.
Harry did. He reached through his bond with Severus. Severus?
He felt the connection open just enough to let them talk. Harry? What is wrong?
The transformation is going wrong. Harry took a deep breath to brace himself. Was the potion changed in anyway?
Severus let his irritation flow through. No, I did not make any modifications. All ingredients were fresh as well. He was most definitely offended.
Harry sighed. I trust you. Severus scoffed. I do! The wolf doesn’t appear to be effected though.
Transformations are meant to be hard…
Harry growled and shoved what he was seeing through the small opening of the connection. Sirius had lost his clothes by now, having torn them off, and was twisting in pain as his skin moved and bones shifted. He’d smack at Edge when he tried to get close baring sharp teeth within his half transformed face. He screamed and clawed at his skin as it began to slough off. The connection was sharply closed but Harry forced it open again just for words to get through.
Does that look like a sedated transformation?
Severus gave a shaky sigh. No.
I trust your brewing abilities. We all do, but something is going wrong. Harry sent reassuring feelings through the connection. He could feel small curdles of doubt filtering through the bond and cursed himself.
“Severus says the potion was made correctly with fresh ingredients. He made no modifications.”
Moony nodded looking sick. His mate just would not let him get close. When he tried it seemed to make things worse.
Edge glanced at Harry. “You can assure Severus that it is not the potion gone wrong.”
Harry relayed the message watching as his Sire seemed to square himself off for battle.
“Enough of this.” Edge ground out with teeth clenched before he jumped on top of Sirius and pinned him.
Harry startled with wide eyes. “What are you doing?”
Moony jerked his head up with alert, forward facing ears.
Edge ignored them both as Sirius fought to get free, snapping at the vampires face. Sirius was a mixed form; more wolf than man at this point. His eyes were still human shaped though wolf irises glowed from within. A snarling snout protruded from his face. Fur was coating his skin as it rippled. Limbs were shaped into awkward angles. He looked like something from a nightmare.
Edge shoved his bicep in its mouth, crying out when it latched onto him and shook. It threw Edge off to the side and struggled to its feet. Harry and Moony rushed forward.
“No! Stay back!” Edge demanded.
Both stopped and looked at the vampire like he had gone mad. Slowly Edge stood to his feet. Harry watched with wide eyes as the bite slowly healed itself over, the blood seeming as though it was being pulled back into the wound.
Raw power started to leak into the room slowly getting stronger. It made Harry bow his head and step backwards. Moony moved in front of him, slightly hunched, but growling at the invisible threat. Sirius froze to stare at Edge.
“That is enough.” The vampires voice was deep and strong. His eyes glowed softly. It was the same golden glow that Harry had saw when Edge had turned him. Edge stepped toward Sirius wrapping his power around the other. Sirius was tense then suddenly just dropped where he stood, unconscious. His body slowly transformed back into a mostly human shape.
Moony growled deeply at Edge stepping forward. *What did you do?*
“I put him to sleep.” Edge looked over at Moony. “Calm yourself. He is not hurt.” He moved closer to Sirius and knelt beside him.
*He’ll be okay?*
Edge nodded. “Yes.” Edge said no more, just simply rested a hand on Sirius’ head and closed his eyes.

He found the wolf first. The Wolfsbane potion had indeed done what it was supposed to have done. The wolf stumbled around in a sedated, yet still agitated, state. When it noticed Edge it sat back on its haunches and looked at him with a glare through sleepy eyes.
*What has been done to me?*
*Sedation.* Edge answered simply. *It will wear off.*
The wolf shook its head at him. *I feel sick.*
Edge stepped up to the large wolf. Its head was level with his sternum, even though it was sitting. *I am sorry. No true harm was meant.*
The wolf snorted.
*Where is the dog?*
*Who cares?* The wolf growled and glared weakly at him as it stood. *This is my host. I am not sharing.*
Edge sighed. He could already tell he was going to get nowhere. He would have to find the dog himself. *I’m afraid I am going to have to disagree with you.*
Edge turned and moved to find Padfoot. He made note that the wolf was slowly following him as it grumbled.
He found Padfoot unconscious and bleeding. Wounds covered the dog head to toe. Blood was bright and thick as it surrounded the dark form. There was barely any life left. Edge turned to glare at the wolf behind him.
*This was unnecessary.*
The wolf sat and stared at him. Its blue eyes held noticeable traces of remorse. *It would have been quick had he not fought me.*
Edge stormed up to the wolf meeting it dark blue eyes to light blue eyes. *This is senseless.*
The wolf blinked. *Mother Moon demanded it. I am forced to do as she says.*
*You have a better bond now.* Edge growled turning back around. *You no longer answer to her.* He made his way back to the dog and kneeled beside him.
“You poor thing.” Edge whispered as he reached out to gently pet the dogs head.
The fur was damp and sticky with blood. He barely breathed. When he did, the breath was short and rattled in his lungs as though he was breathing through water. The dog would not last much longer.
Edge sighed continuing to pet the dying dog. Such senseless carnage.
“Can the bond save him?”
Edge and wolf turned to look at Sirius standing a few steps away. The man looked wrecked and depressed. He was trembling with clouded over eyes. Edge felt his chest constrict in sadness.
“I do not think so.” Edge said regretfully.
Edge watched as Sirius crumbled before him. The man sunk to the ground limply. Tears streamed down an emotionless face. It was as though Sirius had tried to force himself numb from the inside out. Edge felt sick with grief. He had forgotten. Werewolves couldn’t be animagi; made sense that an animagi would lose the ability if ever turned. Edge never dreamed it would come about this way.
The wolf whined behind him.
*I feel free.* It turned blue eyes to Edge. *What bond is this?*
*You are my guardian.*
*Your guardian? I will not be forced into madness?* Hope filled the wolfs voice.
Edge shook his head. *No. Your instincts and desires will be your own. You need to be sane to do what is needed.*
Edge looked back toward Padfoot. With another sigh he made to go to Sirius but felt the wolf step up beside him before he could.
*You smell like a healer.*
Edge startled momentarily. The wolf could smell his abilities? *Yes.*
*Can you heal him?*
Edge watched the wolf closely as it lowered its head to lick at one blood coated, floppy ear. *You…want me to heal him?*
The wolf looked at him from the corner of its eyes as it continued to clean the ear. *I can feel the hosts pain. I admit I do not yet understand the attachment held for the weak little pup but this new bond feels like it needs cooperation. He will not be willing with his pup gone.*
Edge looked at Sirius knowing the wolf was right. It had not taken him long to realize that Sirius turned to Padfoot in times of stress and insecurity. Padfoot was literally a part of Sirius. Edge looked down closing his eyes.
*I will need your strength. He is too far gone.*
The wolf nodded and stepped closer.
Edge sent one last look toward Sirius to find him staring at the both of them with hopeful, desperate eyes. “Come. I will need you too.”
Sirius was quick to reach his side. Edge held out his hand allowing Sirius to take it tightly in his own.
“You need to be aware that this may not work.”
Sirius nodded shakily. “I know, as long as we try.”
Taking a deep breath, Edge nodded and rested his other hand on the Padfoots chest. He felt the warmth of the wolf as it leaned gently against him. With one more deep breath, Edge closed his eyes.

Harry and Moony watched nervously. Neither Edge, nor Sirius, had moved in the last few minutes. Both were still breathing so they took that as a good sign.
What is happening? Severus asked through the connection.
No idea. It’s almost like they are sleeping.
Moony moved a few steps closer to the two still figures. He whined softly but still neither moved, or even so much as twitched. Harry embraced the wolf in a hug. The wolf was large enough his arms barely went around its neck and his head could rest perfectly a top its own.
*They’re okay. Maybe it’s the bond?*
*This quickly? Sirius wasn’t even fully transformed. Could the bond be formed in that state?*
*Must have.* Harry moved back to look at the wolf. *My bond bite healed quickly. The bite you inflicted on Dante didn’t heal for a while. Edge said he had to feed twice to get it to fully heal.*
Damn vampire deserved it.
Harry smirked in agreement. Moony gave him a perplexed look.
*Holding one sided conversations can be quite perplexing to outsiders, Harry.*
Harry gave his Guardian an apologetic look. *Sorry.*
Moony chuckled and shook his head. *Don’t worry about it too much.* He turned back to watching Edge and Sirius with concerned eyes.
*You okay, Moony?*
The tawny wolf sighed and nodded. *Yes. This was supposed to be easier with the Wolfsbane. Sirius is going through a lot of pain because of me.*
Tell the wolf to stop with the pity party. Harry knew Severus was rolling his eyes. Black made his decision to be turned and the wolf accepted. That can’t be changed now. He would be better off thinking about the future he now gets with the mutt instead of the limited amount of pain he is feeling now.
Harry relayed the message only with less snark and bite. Moony was quiet in thought a moment.
*He’s right. Of course he is.*
Don’t let him hurt himself too much. Harry rolled his eyes at the sarcasm in the mans thoughts. Things were slowly getting better between Severus and Remus. He couldn’t say the same for Severus and his godfather. He was unsure what had happened to set them back so far but couldn’t deny that he was disappointed in the development.
The mutt jumped to the wrong conclusions as always. Severus offered no more explanations. Harry could feel his irritation.
Edge stood suddenly; eyes wide and glowing blue. Both wolf and vampire startled. They watched as the glow faded and Edge swayed dangerously on his feet. Harry flitted to catch his Sire before he hit the ground.
“Edge, you okay? What were you doing?” He ask worriedly.
“I…think I did too much.” Edge sounded tired and weak. His eyes watched Sirius closely.
There was a groan from Sirius before the man stretched out. Once again his bones and muscles began to shift and snap under his skin. Sirius was still obviously in pain but things appeared to be changing at a smoother pace than before. Moony shifted closer to his shifting mate watching closely with concerned eyes.
A large wolf soon took over the shape of the human. The wolf was fully formed like Moony yet maybe an inch or two smaller. Its fur was pitch black yet highlights of blue were noticeable in the flickering light from the fire. It was breathing heavily from the transformation, its muscles twitching after being abused. It gave a whine of discomfort. Moony replied with one of comfort.
*Sirius?*
The wolf slowly opened bright blue eyes, blinking once, before looking at the tawny wolf standing over him. With a groan, the wolf moved into a sternal position.
*I’m here.*
Moony nuzzled his mate. Both wolves had softly wagging tails. Soft grumbles and huffs of comfort could be heard from each.
*What of Padfoot?* Edge questioned from where he rested against his Childe. He blinked slowly his energy almost completely drained.
Sirius looked at the two vampires. Gratefulness was clear in his tired, wet eyes. *He’s here. Not happy, but still here.* The dark wolf crawled his way over to rest its head in Edge’s lap. *Thank you.*
Edge said nothing but rested a hand on the wolfs large head. Moony lay down beside them as well encasing the vampires in furry warmth. Harry smiled at them in concerned relief. They both looked so exhausted. His Sire looked like all color was bled from him despite him feeding just the night before.
A large, soft mattress suddenly materialized underneath them. All four occupants startled in surprise at the sudden change. There was no frame. Every one adjusted accordingly. Harry leaned against the wall with Edge resting exhausted against him. Moony curled up to one side while Sirius rested on the other once again resting his large furry head across Edge’s lap. Both vampires soaked up the warmth from the wolves greedily.
*The wolf needs a name, Sirius.* Harry mentioned softly.
*I can’t pick my own name. Marauders rules.* Sirius yawned showing off a set of large white teeth.
*Midnight.* Sirius growled at Moony who chuckled fondly. *Couldn’t resist.* Moony was much calmer now that his mate was through the worst. He laid his head next to Edge’s calves.
Harry smirked. *Coal?*
*Obsidian?* Edge joined in with a weak chuckle. He could barely hold his eyes open and it was not yet midnight. His body felt like lead.
Sirius growled at them all but did not move his tired, aching body. *Get serious or shut up.*
They all decided to ignore the opening provided.
Cobalt.
Harry startled not expecting input from Severus. In fact the man sounded on the verge of sleep himself.
*What about Cobalt?* Harry decided he would leave off that Severus suggested it unless Sirius outright asked him.
Sirius was quiet long enough Harry had thought he had fallen asleep. Moony blinked tired eyes as they waited for the dark wolfs response. Edge had his eyes closed but Harry knew he was not yet asleep.
Sirius heaved a deep sigh. *Okay. Cobalt doesn’t sound half bad.*
Of course it doesn’t. Stupid mutt.
Harry allowed an amused smile to grace his lips.
He watched over both wolves as they drifted off into sleep. Edge rested comfortably against him and eventually fell into an exhausted sleep as well. Harry felt Severus slip into sleep soon enough through the small connection the man had not closed. Harry was the only one left awake but he did not feel alone.

I know a lot of you were sad about Padfoot and worried about Sirius. I honestly could not let Padfoot go. He's such an integral part of Sirius that he just wouldn't function the same without his animagi form. I also wanted to show just how much the Animalis/Guardian bond can effect the lycanthropy curse as Remus handled much of his issues without Harry's help.
I am also sharing links to the photos I am using as reference for animal forms:
