On with the double date. Our foursome encounter a bit of trouble at the fairgrounds.
To Sera21...it's fiction. I've always thought it was stupid when people say magic doesn't work around technology, so I didn't include that in my story. Also this isn't happening "immediately" after the Dark Lord's demise, it's been a few years. How may years would it take an intelligent person to get used to technology? I'm sorry you don't know what your phone is....I know both the brand and style of mine. Sorry you're not enjoying the story. I wanted to write a story that had the Magical characters working in cooperation with the muggle world. I also liked the idea of having Lucius and Ginny "necking" on the couch in front of the TV like a couple of teenagers and getting caught. That was the original idea for story.
"What do you say Severus? Want to have a go at the Ring toss?"
"That's right, That's right." The barker called from the booth. "You two gentleman look like a lucky couple of punters. All you gotta do is get this here ring around one of those bottle and you'll win your gal a lovely prize."
Lucius handed over the tickets and they each received three small rings. "You first Severus."
The dark haired wizard eyed the rows and rows of glass bottles. Taking a step back he tossed the ring and watched as it bounced off the bottles and landed in between them.
"It's not as easy as it looks mate." The barker laughed. "Not so hard the next time."
Severus threw him an evil glare and tossed another ring, it too ricocheted off the bottles.
"Last one." The barker said as Lucius chuckled under his breathe. It too missed the bottles.
"Okay Mr. High and Mighty." Severus glared at a laughing Lucius. "You give it a go."
Lucius stepped up and smiled smugly. Severus laughed loudly as all three rings missed their mark.
"Well this could take a minute." Ginny whispered to Hermione as Lucius dug more tickets out of his pocket and collected more rings. "So how are things going with you and Severus?"
"He seems to be getting a bit pissed." Hermione sighed, watching as the men collected more rings and tossed them at the bottles.
"I noticed that too." Ginny said. "I said something to Lucius about it, he just mumbled something about 'Dutch courage'. Well he can't have too much left. He's only got that tiny flask."
"We have a winner!" The barker called out loudly as one of Severus' rings landed squarely on a bottle.
"Hermione?" Severus said, glancing over his shoulder.
Scanning the rows of stuffed animals, Hermione pointed. "The blue rabbit with the green bow." She hugged it tightly to her chest when the barker handed it to her.
Lucius scowled and tossed three more rings at the bottles. Ginny sighed as they all bounced away.
"No winner." The barker called out.
"I think you need to look again." Lucius said softly.
The barker frowned and scanned the bottles. His eyes widened as he saw one of the rings wrapped around a bottle. "Dreadfully sorry Sir. I don't know how I missed that. Call your lady up and have her pick a prize."
"The tiger." Ginny said confidently, pointing at the stuffed animal she'd been watching. "Can we go ride the Ferris Wheel now?" She said, slipping her hand into Lucius.
"Cheater." Severus coughed, as the foursome headed in the direction of the Ferris Wheel.
"I didn't cheat." Lucius said with feigned innocence in his voice. "I just played the game differently."
"Slytherins." Ginny laughed, shaking her head at Hermione.

"Oh my." Hermione glanced down and suddenly felt dizzy. She and Severus where at the very top of the Ferris Wheel.
"Are you alright? You're looking a bit giddy."
"I don't really fancy heights." She said, clutching her blue rabbit close to her chest.
"Then why did you agree to go on the Ferris Wheel?"
"Well it didn't seem so high from the ground." She said. "And I didn't want to be left behind."
"I would have waited with you." He grunted softly. "May I?" He held up his arm slightly.
Hermione nodded her head quickly and tried not to sigh when he draped his arm across her shoulders and pulled her tightly to his side. "Better?"
"Much. I always seem to feel safe when I'm around you." She said softly."
"Really?" He snorted. "I have no idea why."
"Because you protected us for all those years. Even when we didn't know you were doing it. You saved us all."
He grunted and said nothing, but Hermione was sure she felt his arm tighten slightly around her.
"You know if you're really having trouble with the computer. I could help you. Perhaps you could come round one evening?"
He remained silent for so long, Hermione though he wasn't going to answer.
"I think I would like that." He said softly.

"I don't know about anyone else." Ginny said as they left the Ferris Wheel. "But I could sure use the loo."
"Me too." Hermione echoed. "I think I saw some over this way."
Severus stumbled as he turned in the direction Hermione was pointing. "Are you alright?" Lucius asked, reaching out a hand to steady him.
"S'alright." The Potions Master said, a noticeable slur in his voice.
Ginny excited the portable loo and walked to where Lucius was standing. "Where are the others?"
"Still using the facilities. I've sorted out how Severus managed to get so tight off just this tiny flask." He held the container up in the air.
"How?"
"Refilling spell. No matter how much he drinks, it always remains full."
Hermione had joined them, frowning as she listened to Lucius' revelation. "I didn't realize going out with me was so dreadful." She muttered.
"Hermione. That's not it." Lucius said, shaking his head. "Severus is just painfully shy when it comes to woman. Trust me, it's not you."
"Wotcha old geezer. Why don't you shove off and let some real blokes take care of these two fit birds?"
Lucius' head snapped around as the two young men stepped out of the shadows. The one with the bald head reached out and grabbed Hermione's arm, pulling her toward him.
Lucius' eyes flashed steel gray with anger. "Look here, I've had just about enough..." His eyes widened suddenly. "Severus No!"
"Stupify!"
Ginny spun around just in time to see the jet of light fly from Severus' wand, throwing the bald man back through the air.
"Oh Bloody hell." Lucius muttered, rushing forward and snatching Severus' wand from his hand. He thrust it behind him to Hermione who grabbed it and quickly hid it under her sweater.
Lucius spun on his heel and grabbed crooked teeth. Ginny's eyes widened when she saw his wand in his hand. He pulled the young man close to him by his jacket and stared steadily into his eyes. "Your mate fell." He said slowly. "You gormless mingers were getting shirty with me and I pushed your mate and he fell."
"You pushed him and he fell." The man repeated, his eyes glassy and unfocused.
"That's right." Lucius purred, his voice sounding low and dangerous. "You just remember that."
Turning, he bent down and pulled the bald headed man to his feet and repeated the process. He released him and his wand vanished just as a Policeman rounded the corner.
"Here now? What's the aggro back here?" The Officer glanced around trying to take in the scene. "You." He pointed to the bald man who was brushing dirt from his clothes. "What happened here.
"I fell." The man said, refusing to meet the Officer's eyes.
"Fell did you? And why did you fall?"
"Excuse me Sir." Lucius said, stepping up to the officer. "Perhaps I can explain. These two young men have been harassing us for most of the evening. They cornered us back here and this one," he pointed to the bald man. "got quite shirty with me and I pushed him away from me and he fell."
"Is that what happened?" The Officer turned to look at Hermione and Ginny, who were holding a swaying Severus between them.
"Yes Sir." Hermione said. "He even grabbed my arm."
"Grabbed yer arm did he?" The Policeman stopped and looked closely at Severus, taking a step closer he sniffed. "This man is bladdered."
"Yes sir." Lucius said. "I am afraid our friend has had a bit too much of the bottle."
"Well he's going to have to shove off. This is a family event. He can't stay here when he's this pissed."
"We quite understand." Lucius said, stepping up and grabbing Severus' arm. "If it's quite alright we'll just be going now."
The officer nodded his head. "Yeah, shove off, the lot of you." He waved his hand at the foursome. "And you two," he turned back to the two muggle men. "I'll be watching you two. Now off with you."
The four wizards and witches made their way slowly out to the parking lot. Lucius supporting Severus as they walked.
"Well that was a bit of an adventure." He murmured, settling the drunk Potions Master into the front seat and belting him in.
"Will there be an inquiry do you think?" Ginny asked softly, climbing into the backseat with Hermione.
"Oh, I'm quite sure we'll all be hearing from the Ministry soon enough." Lucius sighed. "But it all happened so quickly, it took very little to remove it from the Muggle's memories. Neither were quite sure what they'd seen. With Hermione's testimony that she was being grabbed and Severus was merely defending her, I 'm sure he'll get off with only a warning. Is everyone belted in?" He reached down and started the car's engine. "Yes? Well I think it's high time we head back to the manor."
