“Better?” Melody asked as Draco and Hermione finished feeding from their third bum in beggar’s alley. It had taken much more blood to heal than they imagined.
“A little,” Hermione said tiredly. “But it still feels like my veins are on fire.”
“That would be the venom,” Alex said. “It’ll take a few days to cycle through your system.”
“Why didn’t it feel like that when we mated?” Draco asked.
“Because it was a mating bite,” Alex said. “Even seasoned vampires haven’t quite figured out why it is so. A mating bite is pleasurable and a defensive bite is the most painful thing you can endure. It can cause painful muscle spasms that make you freeze up. It’s a terrific defensive tactic for subduing your opponents.”
“Great,” Draco muttered. “Yet another thing we’re going to have to cover up.”
“Afraid it can’t be helped,” Melody said sadly. “I remember my first bite. Could hardly walk for a week without seizing up.”
“When were you bitten?” Hermione asked.
“Just after my turning,” Melody said with a frown. “Some fool tried to claim me after I was already claimed.”
“What happened?” Hermione asked.
Severus sneered. “That was the first vampire I ever slayed.”
“And the most nerve wracking week he ever experienced,” Alex said knowingly.
“Indeed,” Severus said darkly. “Come, to Spinner’s End. We’ll discuss this Robert character you met there.”
A few moments later, they were staring at the remains of Spinner’s End. It was still standing, but it was in shambles as it had been the night before. Severus only tsked and flicked his wand, the house slowly repairing itself. They ventured inside to see more of the same: glass littered the floor, furniture blown apart, rugs scattered. The only thing that seemed to survive intact was the hundreds of books Severus had crammed everywhere.
“Nice redecorating job,” Melody snickered and enjoyed the abashed faces of her father and mother.
Severus merely sighed and righted the place with a few careful flicks of his wand. Then he invited them all to sit. When they were comfortable, talk rolled around to Draco and Hermione’s mission and the warning Robert gave them.
“Well, I do know how to send word,” Alex hedged. “Nightshade coven you say?”
Draco nodded. “Yeah, that’s what he said.”
Alex hummed. “Well, once we get back to the school and Nancy is settled, I’ll go and see them.”
“But I don’t want to stay there!” Nancy said in a panic.
“Love, I can’t risk you losing it in front of them,” Alex sighed. “You’ll be safer with Melody. I can’t stand the thought of losing you.”
“What if they turn on you?” Nancy asked.
“He’ll have a portkey,” Melody said with a frown. “I agree Nancy. I won’t have him go unprepared.”
“Thank you,” Nancy said softly.
“What I want to know is why you two didn’t confront that other coven before you went cave hunting,” Severus snapped.
Draco snorted. “I didn’t exactly want to fight them in the first place. I didn’t think they’d follow us onto the cliffs.”
“Obviously they did,” Severus sneered.
“Sev,” Melody said, placing a hand on his thigh. “It does us no good to dwell on shoulda coulda wouldas. We just have to be more careful.”
“And you two aren’t going alone again,” Severus snapped.
“I do agree there,” Melody said. “You’re lucky. No regular newborns could take on a coven like that.”
“You’re learning hand to hand combat,” Severus said suddenly. “We have been remiss in teaching it.”
“Fine by me,” Draco said darkly. “I don’t ever want to go through that again.”
“It’s settled then,” Severus said. “After you two recover from the venom, we’re teaching you how to fight.”
“We still have to explore the rest of those caves,” Hermione said tiredly. “We only cleared half of them.”
Severus hummed. “Put your memories in my pensieve and we’ll study them. Melody and I will go tonight and see if we can’t knock the rest of them out.”
“Be careful,” Hermione said softly.
“Never have to tell us twice,” Melody said with a grin.

Hermione tried to walk as smoothly as she could to the Gryffindor table. She had spent the early morning eating and discussing her and Draco’s mission but they had to return. It wouldn’t do to be absent from breakfast, especially after the spectacle yesterday. Her stride was proving difficult to maintain. The venom was still coursing strongly through her, making each step quite painful. Every now and then, she’d feel a muscle seize and she’d limp.
“Blimey Mione,” Ron breathed. “What in the bloody hell did being stuck to Malfoy do to you?”
Hermione sat down gingerly, her mind reeling with possible explanations. Finally, one stuck and she blurted it out before she lost it again. “Just pulled a few muscles struggling to walk. He’s rather strong for a ferret.”
“You’ll pay for that love,” Draco said under his breath.
Hermione smiled, unable to help herself. She had hoped he would hear her. They decided that little barbs under their breath were okay, so long as they didn’t mention names. It made things a bit easier, to know that they could at least talk to each other. No one could quite hear them so it was relatively safe and they could pass it off as muttering to themselves if someone happened to be wearing an enhancement charm.
“I’ll kill him,” Ron growled.
“You’ll do no such thing!” Hermione snapped. “You are all to leave him alone. Period.”
“You’re not going to get him back?” Ron asked, his eyes wide in surprise.
“No, and you aren’t either,” Hermione said. “Ms. Bach was serious Ron. If I or anyone else retaliates, I get a lot worse than being stuck to Malfoy for a day.”
“There’s nothing worse than that, Mione,” Ron insisted.
“Oh yes there is,” Hermione said and let her mind drift back to her and Draco’s mission the night before. She shuddered and then refocused on her friends. “I mean it Ron, absolutely no retaliation.”
“But he’ll-“
“No, he won’t,” Hermione cut him off. “Trust me Ron. Malfoy doesn’t want to be stuck to me any more than I want to be stuck to him.”
“Well, that’s true enough,” Draco muttered, causing her to bite her tongue.
“But-“
“No Ron,” Hermione snapped. “Don’t make me fight you on this. The feud is over.”
“We’ll agree,” Ginny piped up. “Won’t we Harry?”
Harry sighed. “Yes of course. I just…don’t expect me to like the ferret.”
Hermione giggled. “I didn’t say you had to like him Harry, just that you had to ignore him.”
“Easy enough I suppose…if he keeps his mouth shut,” Harry said darkly.
“I have a feeling he will,” Hermione said with a smile.
“Fine, fine,” Ron sulked. “We’ll stay away from the bloody ferret, but if he so much as opens his mouth-“
“Trust me, he won’t.”
“Fine then,” Ron said and effectively ended the conversation by shoving his mouth full of food.
Hermione grabbed her “tea” from the table and sipped slowly. She wasn’t the least bit hungry, but it soothed the ache in her muscles. Ginny and Harry gave her a knowing look before turning their attention back to their meals. This allowed her to pay attention to Draco’s conversation with the snakes.
“So, what’s the plan?” Blaise asked.
“There isn’t one,” Draco said darkly.
“What?” Pansy shrieked.
“Shut up!” Draco hissed. “Do you want the entire hall to hear you?”
“You can’t let that little mudblood get the best of you!” Pansy said, her voice lower but still shrill.
Hermione trembled slightly from the anger she felt coming off of her mate. She believed him when he said he didn’t want that word to be used anymore, but she didn’t realize how angry it made him. She waved off Ginny’s look of concern and concentrated again.
“I’m not,” Draco said through gritted teeth. “But if anything happens to her this year, being magically stuck to her is the least of my problems.”
“What do you mean?” Blaise asked.
“Bach wouldn’t hesitate to get us all expelled.”
“She wouldn’t,” Pansy huffed.
“Oh, she would. She’s a Slytherin Pans. We don’t bluff.”
“Some Slytherin, turning on her own.”
Draco shrugged. “She said she didn’t begrudge us our fight, but that taking it in the hallway went too far. So…she squashed it. Anyone retaliates, and I mean anyone, we all pay the price, Granger and I the worst.”
“Sounds rather Gryffindor to me,” Pansy sniffed.
“Not when you think about it,” Blaise cut in. “It’s blatant blackmail, isn’t it? She ended it with no risk of coming back on her.”
“Exactly,” Draco sighed. “And this year, of all years, is one I can’t afford to be expelled from.”
“You mean your mi-“
“Shut up Pansy!” Draco growled, bearing his thankfully normal teeth at her. “You’re sounding like Weaselbee right about now. Do you want to advertise to the entire school? Merlin.”
“I-I’m sorry Drakey,” Pansy whimpered.
“Don’t call me that,” Draco snapped. “In fact, just shut the fuck up and stay out of my way. I’ve got something to do.”
“Or someone,” Pansy muttered.
“Not that it would be any of your business,” Draco said coldly. “But I don’t have time for anything else.”
“Draco, you’ve got to take better care of yourself,” Blaise cut in. “You aren’t sleeping. You’ve hardly touched your food. You’ll be sick by the end of the week if you keep this pace up.”
Draco sighed, his breath hitching as a burst of fire swept through his veins. He took a careful sip of his blood to quell the pain. “That’s my problem. Don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.”
“What’s wrong Draco?” Pansy asked quietly. “I’ve known you since we were in nappies. I can tell you’re in pain.”
Draco shook his head. “He’s not happy. Leave it at that. And for Merlin’s sake, ignore Granger and her lap dogs”
Both Slytherins fell silent at that. Finally, they nodded and went back to eating.
Hermione let out a breath she didn’t know she was holding. She didn’t know why she was so concerned, especially since she knew how much of a silver tongued devil Draco was. Still, the Slytherin’s agreeing to the truce was more than she could hope for. Now they wouldn’t have to worry…too much anyway. Ron was still brooding and she knew instinctively that Pansy wouldn’t drop it.
“So Mione,” Ron asked around a mouth full of food. “Who was that bloke that ran in here last night?”
“Melody’s father,” Hermione said softly. “His wife was suffering from a dark curse.”
“She burned you,” Ginny said softly.
Hermione nodded. “It felt horrible but it was easily repaired.”
“Will she be okay?” Harry asked with a frown.
“Melody said she would recover in a week.”
“Um, Hermione?” Harry asked. “Could I, um, have a word…alone?”
“Sure,” Hermione said, gulping the last of her blood and rising slowly to her feet. “Let’s go.”
When they were well away from the hall, Harry dragged her into a classroom. He motioned for her to make it private and then pulled her into his lap in a dirty chair.
“Now, tell me what really happened.”
Hermione laid her head on his shoulder, shuddering from the pain. “Alex is Melody’s father, her biological father. That woman is his mate. She was a squib but when they mated, her core reacted. The magic inside her is lashing out, which was why she was burning everyone. Professor Snape made a magic dampening cuff until her magic stabilizes.”
“Blimey,” Harry said, whistling through his teeth. “You said she’ll be okay in a week?”
Hermione nodded. “She’ll be fine Harry.”
“What about you? Why did Melody stick you to Malfoy? Why are you in so much pain right now? And don’t lie to me.”
Hermione sighed. There was so much she couldn’t tell him, but she tried to stick as close to the truth as possible. “Melody saw Malfoy and I go to wands and stepped in. She was afraid I would hurt him. She said that I needed to learn to control my anger and that being with Malfoy was the best way to do so.”
“But Hermione, surely he noticed things about you. I mean, you don’t use the loo, you don’t feel warm or cold, and you can lift him off the bloody floor for fucks sake. What in Merlin’s name would have happened had he realized you were drinking blood?”
Harry was breathing harshly after his tirade. She could hardly blame him. He was deeply concerned for her and it touched her. However, he couldn’t know the whole truth yet. They needed to hunt down the horcruxes and destroy them before even thinking about telling him everything. A tear slipped down her face and she hastily wiped it away.
“Please Hermione,” Harry whispered. “I’m your best friend. Don’t I deserve to know?”
Hermione closed her eyes in pain and nodded, knowing she was about to tell one of the most intricate lies in her existence. “Malfoy didn’t notice anything about me because he refused to, which is what Melody knew he would do. I didn’t pull him off the floor because that would have raised suspicions. There was a glamour on my cup at dinner so he only saw tea. And I’m extremely sore because it took everything out of me to heal after that burning.”
“How though,” Harry said. “I thought it was just a burn.”
“It’s a dark burn,” Hermione corrected. “Born of dark magic. It takes a while to heal. You’ll probably notice Malfoy and me in a great deal of pain these next few days. Just…let me work through it.”
“Hermione, if you need to feed…”
“No Harry,” Hermione sighed. “I fed plenty last night. I just need time now.”
“What does Derik think of all this?” Harry asked with a raised eyebrow.
Hermione huffed. “He’s not happy. However, he is greatly concerned for Alex and Sage right now, so I got off the hook.”
Harry shook his head. “Vampires.”
Hermione giggled. “That’s what they call us. Come on Harry. We need to get to class.”
She gingerly got up off of her best friend’s lap and took down the privacy wards. She listened at the door but didn’t hear anything. Deciding that the coast was clear, she opened the door and stepped out…right into a hard chest. She jumped back in shock.
“Hello love,” Draco purred.
Hermione froze, realizing that Draco was wearing Derik’s glamour. How he had managed to evade his friends to do so was beyond her. The fact that he had done so to see her was touching though. She had just been thinking about how much she already missed him.
“Derik,” Harry said. He didn’t look the least bit surprised.
“Harry,” Draco said with a slight nod. “Do you mind if I have a word with Hermione?”
“Oh, um… course not. Catch you later?”
Hermione nodded. “Save me a seat.”
Draco waited until Harry stepped out before pushing his mate into the room. He warded the door and had his lips firmly pressed against hers in a moment. At once, the world felt right again. If they were together, they could face anything.
“What are you doing here?” Hermione breathed when he broke the kiss.
“I had to see you,” Draco said softly. “Don’t worry. No one saw me.”
“You heard what mother said,” Hermione chided.
“I did,” Draco said with a smile. “Keep trysts to abandoned classrooms and broom cupboards. This certainly looks like an abandoned classroom, doesn’t it?”
“It does,” Hermione whispered. “But I don’t like your face.”
Draco chuckled and twisted the bead in his hair that let his true appearance show. “Better?”
“Much,” Hermione growled before launching herself at him.
Their teeth broke tender skin, causing blood to trickle in their mouths. It only served to make them hotter. At the moment, the painful venom coursing through their veins didn’t register. Their bodies only seemed to crave each other, just as they had when they first mated. Clothes were torn to shreds, furniture tossed out of the way, dust scattered as they fought to get closer.
“Fuck,” Draco hissed. He laid Hermione back on the desk and brought her legs around his waist, sinking home in one thrust. “Gods you feel good.”
“Please,” Hermione begged, not knowing exactly why she was begging. She just wanted more.
Draco obliged happily, starting a quick and strong rhythm ignoring the ache it caused him. Nothing mattered in that moment but their pleasure. He made sure to rub her clit while paying attention to her breasts, kissing and licking with each thrust.
Hermione was glad he was so flexible. His back bowed as he suckled each nipped and then kissed his way up her neck and to her mouth. She welcomed him, dueling tongues and savoring his flavor. She was certain she would never get enough. The combined sensations of his cock filling her so deliciously and his tongue swirling inside her mouth put her on edge.
Draco pulled back, straining. “Come with me.”
It was the only command she needed. She felt herself break apart, the invisible rubber band in her womb snap and flood her veins with pleasure. She screamed his name like prayer as wave after wave of ecstasy washed over her. She faintly heard Draco’s wild scream of completion above her own. His thrusts were sporadic before finally slowing, allowing himself to collapse on top of her for a moment before moving them both on the desk to rest.
“Fuck,” Hermione panted. “That was-“
“Yes it was,” Draco gasped. “How much time do you think we have until class?”
Hermione grabbed her wand and cast a spell to show the time. They only had two minutes to get to class. Both yelped and tried hopping off the desk to get dressed only to land in a heap in the floor. Unable to do much more than groan, they each weakly cast spells to clean themselves, repair their clothes, and magically redress. Getting up was proving difficult though.
“Damn, now what?” Draco wheezed.
“Think the necklace still works?” Hermione asked.
“Worth a try,” Draco said. “Go on. The worst father will do is scream at us. I’ll dismantle the wards.”
Hermione tapped the crucifix around her neck three times, hoping that she wouldn’t terrify her parents by doing so. The last time she had called for them, Melody had been badly damaged in a fight against Lysander. At least this time she would be whole when she responded.
“What the fuck?” Melody snapped as she blew in door.
“Can’t get up,” Draco huffed.
“You just had to fuck your brains out, didn’t you?” Melody asked tiredly. “Why?”
“Had to,” Draco said with a laugh. “Couldn’t stand the thought of not having her.”
Melody shook her head. “I understand, really I do. You guys damn near lost your lives last night. It is only natural to want to reassure your bond. I get it. But this is bordering on extreme stupidity. Do you have any idea what came out of Severus’s mouth when he told me where you were?”
“I can hazard a guess,” Draco said with a raised eyebrow.
“Yes, well, you still have him beat on creative swears,” Melody said with a smirk. “Come on then, let’s get you to class. Which one is it, by the way?”
“Transfiguration,” Hermione said sadly. “McGonagall is going to have kittens.”
Melody cackled for a moment. “Yes, well, at least she’ll have gotten laid.”
“Ugh, could have done without that picture,” Draco said with look of disgust.
Melody shrugged. “Everyone needs a little horizontal love. Now then, DOBBY!”
A loud crack sounded, revealing a wide eyed Dobby. “Yes Snape’s Miss?”
Melody smiled wryly at her title. “Do we still have some blood left Dobby?”
“Oh yes Miss. We have enough for six for a day.”
“Very good. Dobby, could you get a glass for Hermione and Draco?”
“Yes Snape’s Miss. Right away!”
Dobby disappeared with a crack and two tea cups filled with blood appeared a few moments later. Melody nodded in approval and handed one to each of her children. While they drank, she busied herself cleaning up the room, or uncleaning it, they guessed. Furniture was repaired, dust was replaced, and all traces of smell were eradicated.
“Can’t be too careful,” Melody said when she was done. “Now then, can you stand?”
The two were able to stand to their feet, albeit shakily. It felt like they had been hit by a herd of hippogriffs. They clung to each other until they had their equilibrium. The clock struck the hour, indicating they were late. Both of them visibly wilted.
“Hey, it’s okay,” Melody said gently. “I’ll just say you came in for a check-up. It isn’t too far-fetched after last night. Now then, let’s go.”
“Why does Dobby call you Snape’s Miss?” Hermione asked before Melody could open the door.
Melody grinned. “Because that’s who I am. I belong to Snape, his mate, and the elves sense that.”
“Why haven’t they told anyone of your or father’s…peculiarity?” Hermione pressed.
“Well, elves keep their Master’s secrets, right?” Melody asked. “You discovered that fourth year with Winky. Since Severus is a professor here, he is considered a Master. You’ll find that the elves will keep most everyone’s secret, unless you happen to have one become attached to you. Then they will fight to the death to keep it…and tell you others you wish to know. Hermione, I know you hate the house-elf enslavement thing, but they really only want to serve. Take Dobby, yes, he is a free elf, but he is happiest serving. Just not for Lucius Malfoy.”
Draco snorted. “Father always was cruel to the elves, used them for target practice. Mother, on the other hand, tried to be polite.”
“Sounds like you have a soft spot for them,” Hermione said softly.
Draco gave her a wan smile. “They raised me. Why wouldn’t I?”
“Then how come Dobby didn’t have anything nice to say about you?” Hermione countered.
Draco sighed and rubbed his face in frustration. “Because father insisted I use him for target practice… and punished me severely if I didn’t.”
“Oh, I-I didn’t know,” Hermione said with a frown.
“No one does,” Draco said. “But, when I discovered he was free and working here, I called him to me and apologized. He isn’t fond of me…but he understood and accepted.”
“Which is why,” Melody butted in, “he was happy to help when I explained what was going on. He told me that you didn’t deserve your lot in life Draco. Should you need a helping hand, Dobby’s your elf.”
“Can we at least pay him?” Hermione asked in annoyance.
Melody chuckled. “Knit him some socks and a hat and he’ll be the happiest elf in the world. Now we really must be going.”
They walked to transfiguration in silence. Not willing to give their feelings away should someone happen to be out, they carefully walked as far away from each other as possible. They even made it a point to turn their heads in the opposite directions, in case they accidentally made eye contact.
“Much better,” Melody said in amusement when she reached the door. “Anyone would swear you two were wearing a repelling charm.”
McGonagall answered the knock on the door tersely, softening a bit when she saw who it was.
“Sorry Professor,” Melody said, motioning for her children to sit. “I’m afraid their check-up ran a little long.”
“Should they even be here?” McGonagall asked, genuine concern in her face.
Hermione couldn’t blame her. She was sure she looked like hell warmed over. Everything hurt. Everything. Even her eyelashes seemed to be stinging. She knew Draco had dark circles under his eyes from the strain of healing. She figured she was worse, seeing as how she sustained the most damage. That stunt in the classroom had cost them more energy, but it was very much needed. She felt a lot more balanced now.
“They’ll be okay,” Melody said so softly only McGonagall could hear, her face bearing the briefest hint of concern. “They both insisted that they were fine. Just go easy on them. They’re both drained more than I would like.”
McGonagall nodded tersely and thanked Melody. Melody merely smiled and let herself out of the class. Before she left, she muttered a warning to conserve their energy under her breath. It wouldn’t do for them to be drained beyond help.
By the time lunch rolled around, both of them were practically dead on their feet. The thought made Hermione giggle stupidly, earning her quite a few strange looks. She couldn’t help it. She needed to meditate so badly. Her classes were a blur with her fatigue and she was extremely thankful that her brain seemed to absorb most of the things she’d heard without having to take extensive notes.
“Alright there Mione?” Harry asked in concern.
“No,” Hermione sighed. “I’m so tired.”
“Um, I didn’t think you would get that way,” Harry said with a frown. It was obvious that he was trying to tiptoe around the actual point.
“No, I can. I just don’t sleep.”
“Ah,” Harry said knowingly. “The meditating thing.”
“Right,” Hermione said and smiled a bit when her cup of blood was delivered.
“Why aren’t you using your tongue thingy,” Harry asked.
“Because I’m trying to reserve it for emergencies,” Hermione said tersely.
“Falling out in class would be considered an emergency in your book,” Ginny said. She’d been quiet since they sat down.
“Not anymore,” Hermione said sadly. “There are worse things.”
“Alert the newspaper,” Ginny called. “Hermione has realized that there is more to life than making the best grade in class.”
“More like more to death,” Hermione said darkly.
“Touché,” Ginny said with a smile.
“Blimey Mione, you look like hell,” Ron said as he plopped down to the table and began shoveling food on his plate.
“Thanks for that,” Hermione said dryly and drank her blood slowly.
“Sorry, but you do,” Ron said. “You know, Malfoy is looking peaky too. What happened to you two?”
Hermione sat her empty cup down and studied Ron for a moment. He’d never mentioned paying attention to anyone other than a select few pretty girls and quidditch. Deciding that he didn’t mean anything more by the observation, she recited her carefully constructed response.
“I can’t speak for Malfoy, but the burning spell took a lot out of me. My magic took a hit. It’ll just take a few days for it to come back.”
“That’s some spell,” Ron said casually and went back to eating.
Hermione almost snorted but managed to catch herself. Ron had seemed concerned for a moment but watching him now, it was like he didn’t have a care in the world. She hated when he was hot and cold like this. One moment he was railing against her for not telling him about her attack and the next he was ignoring her while she looked like death. Perhaps she should just let him sort himself out.
She was about to get up and head to DADA early when a smell stopped her. She wasn’t sure why she’d picked up on it so quickly. After all, Hogwarts had enough bodies and magic to have even the strongest smells blend. This one was different though. It stirred in her nightmares, if she could still have them, that is. Anise. There was no mistaking it.
Before she could react, a large owl came barreling through the window and dropped a large black box in front of her, scattering the little bit of food she’d scraped around on her plate. It positively reeked of anise and she was hard pressed not to run away screaming. Instead, she froze, unable to tell anyone why this box scared her beyond reason.
“What’s that?” Harry asked.
Hermione turned her eyes on him, frightening him in the process. “I don’t want to know.”
“I believe I should have a look at that first, Miss Granger.”
The deep drawl of her father relaxed her and she had to catch herself to keep from snuggling into his comforting presence. The smell of wood smoke and potions was overpowering and she just wanted to bury her nose in his coat and cry.
“Perhaps you should come with me,” Severus said. His words were clipped but she could hear the concern in them.
“Y-yes sir,” Hermione managed to whimper and struggled to stand up.
Severus levitated the box in front of him and stalked out the doors. Hermione scampered after him, chancing one glance around the room. Draco and Melody were nowhere to be found but a sniff of the air told her that they were close. She just wished they were even closer. She followed her father all the way to the DADA classroom and waited as he carefully placed the box on his desk and then proceeded to ward the room up tight.
It was then that she realized that Draco and Melody had stepped out of the shadows. She ran to Draco, burying her head in his robes and trembling. She held back her sobs for fear of losing precious blood but she could still feel tears prickling in her eyes. He held her tightly, rubbing her back and whispering meaningless platitudes trying to calm her down.
“T-the smell,” Hermione managed to get out.
“Yes,” Severus drawled. “If this is what I think it is, we’ll need to douse the lights.”
The room was colorless a second later, grey replacing the light. Severus carefully checked the box for any spells before opening the lid. He stepped back with a grimace and levitated the contents out. Hovering in the air was a severed head…and it looked just like Draco’s glamour of Derik.
