Hermione sat down in the training room and sighed. Alex had transfigured the benches into couches and chairs for them. The older witch had been quiet the past week, but they chose to give her time and space. Khira informed them that Alex had been unable to destroy the locket, so they would attempt it when they returned to the castle. It was the weekend after Christmas and they were all lounging around talking and relaxing. On Christmas day they'd exchanged gifts, sang songs, and enjoyed the feast and pastries the elves had made happily. Khira had gotten Hermione and Draco a barn owl, named Tesha. Alex on the other hand got Hermione a few books and Draco a set of rare potion ingredients to go with the new advanced potions set he got from Snape secretly. As Hermione opened up one of the books she got from Alex Advanced Charms from Around the World she smiled and started reading it, finding the different charms fascinating. She was so engrossed in her reading she didn't notice the others wanted her attention until Harry waved his hand in front of her face.
“Earth to Hermione!” he said with a laugh as she blinked and looked up at him.
“Oh sorry Harry” she smiled sheepishly, “What did you need?”
“You said yesterday that Alex and Khira showed you something the other day. What was it exactly?”
“I'm not sure if she wants us telling you two just yet. Let me explain before you start getting upset Ron” she held up her hand stopping him as he began to protest, “It was very advanced beyond what you two are prepared for. I'm not sure if she wants it shown to you guys just yet because it terrified even Draco and I to see it.”
“You're right Hermione” they turned to see Alex leaning on the door frame, “I showed Draco and you as a warning. They need more training first.”
“So train us then!” Ron said angrily and standing up. Ever since he'd heard about his aura matching Pansy's he'd been a bit more bold. It was starting to aggravate Alex to no end.
“Alex it would give Weasley something to set his mind towards” Snape said from the corner of the room, where he'd been reading the book she gave him.
“You sure Sev?”
“Why is he still here again?” Ron asked, glaring at the Potions Master in the corner.
“He's here because I allow him to be. Do you want to see what happens when I decide to not allow someone to be here first hand?” Alex snapped and he rolled his eyes.
“You acted as if you hated him all summer but now you're friends?”
“Severus and I have been friends for a long time Ronald. We hid it when we first met you so you wouldn't automatically assume I'm as evil as you claim him to be” she growled.
“He's a death eater!”
“I'm also a spy Weasley! You would know this if you paid attention when you are listening in to the Order meetings with that blasted cloak and extendable ears.”
“You're still a bloody death eater!” Ron roared, Pansy hissing at him to stop in his ear.
“Need I remind you Ms. Parkinson is marked too?”
“Oh piss off!”
“RONALD WEASLEY!” Alex screamed, causing him to jump and turn to her, “That is enough! Grow the hell up and stop acting like an ass!”
“It doesn't change the fact-”
“Enough you immature little shit! Harry wouldn't be alive today if it wasn't for him!”
“What?” Harry asked, stopping Ron from retaliating.
“Severus was asked by Dumbledore to keep a close eye on you guys. He's been doing so since your first year!”
“Is that true?” the raven haired teen asked quietly, approaching Severus. Pansy had pulled Ron back and was telling him off for his rant.
“The headmaster felt you needed someone to keep you out of trouble. He placed me in charge of doing so. Unfortunately, just like your father you have a knack for getting into trouble anyway” the Potions Master stated this quietly, refusing to look over at him.
“Why would you do it so willingly? You hated him.”
“He didn't do it for your father Harry” Alex whispered, having walked over to them.
“My mother? You called her a-”
“I have regretted it every day since it happened Potter.”
“What was so special about my mother that would make you do what Dumbledore asked?”
“That is Headmaster Dumbledore to you Potter, and it is none of your business-”
“You loved my mother didn't you?” Harry's words caught him off guard and he turned to him suddenly.
“What?”
“You loved her right?”
“Why would you say that?”
“When we first met Alex she asked you if your patronus was a doe. You never answered, but then she told us that a patronus can resemble that of someone you love dearly. So I ask again Professor, did you love my mother?”
Snape glared at Alex and she looked back at him, her facial expression blank, but her eyes showing the sorrow she was witnessing at seeing this happen. She knew this needed to be revealed so Severus could move on from his past and survive the war. She'd been advised secretly by Amelia to arrange it, and had invited him for the holidays to set it up. It hurt that she was slightly betraying her friend, but she knew he needed this.
“Show him Sev” she said quietly, and he shook his head.
“It doesn't matter Alex.”
“Show him both.”
“No!” he roared, growling lightly.
“Accio book” she waved her hand and the book zoomed into her hand.
“Alex don't you dare!” Severus snapped as she started to approach Harry.
“Severus Snape you will let me do this willingly, or I will bind you and place you back in that chair and force you to watch it happen. Either way I am letting Harry read it.”
Alex waited a moment for him to decide, stepping closer to Harry. Turning the book to the page she had shown Severus, she took a deep breath and looked at Snape. He had sat back down in the chair and was currently glaring at her so much she felt she'd catch fire at any moment. Turning back to Harry she cleared her throat.
“Harry your mother wrote a final letter to Severus in this book. I want you to read it and also please keep an open mind. It will explain some things but at the same time, there is one bit of information in it that you must know. When you finish reading I want you to think on what she wrote before you respond.”
“Okay” he responded, taking the book from her and reading the passage.
Severus,
I can only hope you one day get to read this. I must apologize to you immensely for what has happened since that day. I forgive you for calling me that. You were the first true friend I ever had. I saw your father's ill treatment of you force you towards the dark. Tobias was an evil man and it made you hate muggles so much, but they are not all evil. It hurt to watch you get lured in by Voldemort, but I know I am to blame for that as well. I only ask you can forgive me, and when the time comes, watch over Harry for me if I am not around. I love him so much Severus, and I beg you to please look past your hatred of James for his sake. I know James has named Sirius his godfather, but I do not want that. Had we still been in contact all these years that honor would have fallen to you, not Sirius. You are his godfather in my eyes Severus. Protect my son as if he were your own. Please do this for me.
Love,
Lily
Harry dropped the book as he finished reading the letter. He was shocked at what he'd read. His mother had forgiven Snape. Then there was the fact she had said Snape would be his godfather instead of Sirius. She didn't want Sirius to be his godfather? Why? He looked over at the Potion Master and saw the sorrow flicker across his face as he looked at him.
“Show me your patronus” Harry demanded, stepping forward.
“I don't think it's a wise choice-”
“Show me.”
Severus glared at him, hearing hints of Lily's ferocity in his voice. As he looked at the boy he studied him. Harry looked so much like James. They could have been twins. As he stared into his eyes though, all he could see was Lily's eyes. He closed his eyes and sighed, standing up and pulling out his wand.
“Expecto Patronum” he waved his wand and they all watched the white mist stream out of his wand and form into a doe before it bounded around the room and came to stop next to Harry.
“So it's true then?” Harry asked quietly as the patronus dissipated and the look Severus gave him told him all he needed to know.
“Prove it and honor her memory by doing what she asked of you in that letter” Alex stated quietly, and they both turned to her, “You have lived with regret and pain for too long Severus. Your love for her may never die, but it doesn't mean you cannot live. She would not want you to do that.”
“You meddle too much.”
“Only when asked to do so.”
“Amelia set you up for this?” his tone sent chills down her spine and she looked down, before nodding.
“I'm sorry Severus. I had to make a choice, and it was a selfish one, but I made it regardless.”
“What good can come from him knowing Lily's decision?”
“Your freedom.”
“Freedom? I'll die before I'm free-”
“No you won't!” Alex snarled, her eyes shooting up to glare at him, “You will survive this war! We only need to destroy the horcruxes and then we are set to finish this. When we are done, we're all getting shitfaced drunk and celebrating.”
“I will never be that drunk around you.”
“We'll see about that” she smirked at him before turning and leaving the room. She was followed quickly by Snape who grabbed the book and practically ran out of the room.
“Everything alright Harry?” Hermione asked, placing her hand on his shoulder and freezing as she saw a flash of the letter he'd read, “Oh Harry!”
“It's a lot to take in right?” he said, moving with her to sit back down on the love seat next to Ginny.
“It definitely is” Draco replied.
“Wait! How?!”
“The link Potter. I saw it when she touched you.”
“Oh!”
“No worries Potter. I will not tell anyone.”
“Thanks” he said with a small smile and they went back to talking and relaxing. Harry had a lot to think about.
The following week flew by and they were all heading back to Hogwarts. They'd spent New Years at the club to celebrate and danced the night away. Harry hadn't told Ron about what was written in the book, but then again he hadn't asked since Pansy kept him from doing so. Draco and Hermione's healing had gone much smoother than expected but now they had to control their abilities. Hermione had been slowly gaining control of her visions, and was now able to not have them unless she wanted to when touching someone. It still happened when she was very emotional though. The ones she couldn't control that annoyed her the most was the random ones she had out of nowhere. She'd taken to writing them down in the journal Alex and Khira gave her. It was proving helpful when she was having flashes of things every few hours. She'd written to her Gran and asked for help as well. Unfortunately all Amelia could offer her was to increase the meditation and suggested she also start doing scrying and sent her a small glass ball. She told her books couldn't assist her which annoyed Hermione greatly. It had helped slightly, which she was grateful for, but she still hated that she was practically becoming Trelawney. She had voiced this opinion to the other teens quite a few times since.
“You know Hermione, it explains why you don't like her” Ron said to her, taking a bite of a chocolate frog as she pulled the ball out and started looking into it again.
“What are you getting at Ron?”
“You never liked Trelawney all this time. Maybe it was your magic giving you clues to your lineage.”
“Or because Trelawney has that effect on everyone” Pansy replied and he nodded and smirked.
“Open your mind and gaze into the future! Harry Potter I see your fate, and it is grim!” Ron mimicked the seer and they all laughed.
“Maybe I should try and talk to her and see if she can help me” she replied with a laugh.
The rest of the ride back she focused on the ball and wrote down anything she saw in it. Most of the things she saw were just shapes but a few faces appeared as well. She had seen Alex, Khira, and Lucius' faces, as well as a few others she didn't know. She wrote as many details down as she could.
After arriving back at the school they rode in the carriages back and smiled as they walked in and felt the magic flow over them. The group split up to go put their stuff away, agreeing to meet in the Great Hall for dinner before going to the Room of Requirement. As they entered the common room they noticed it was really quiet, except for the sound of the fireplace crackling. They quickly unpacked before moving to sit on the sofa in the common room just as Alex and Khira walked in the door. Alex sighed as she looked around the room and smiled lightly at them before sitting in the armchair across from them.
“Sorry it took us so long. It seems that Peeves pulled a prank in the classroom while I was gone and I had to sort it out” Alex growled, before Khira handed her a potion, which she downed and sighed.
“Never a dull moment with Peeves” Draco grumbled and they nodded.
“Everyone else is unpacking and we'll meet at dinner. After that we all agreed to go to the Room of Requirement” Hermione said and the two vampires nodded.
“After dinner I'm going down to Severus' office and we're working on the wolfsbane potion together a bit” Khira said, sitting in Alex's lap. She had been working on the potion with him at the estate before they left. They were wanting to test the new version with Lupin at the next full moon.
“Let's hope the changes you guys made work” Alex said and she nodded.
They continued talking until dinner and all walked down to the Great Hall, taking their seats before everyone else arrived. Draco sat down at the Slytherin table with Hermione behind him, while Harry, Ron, and Ginny sat down across from Hermione. Hermione noticed Ron tense though when Pansy entered, looking over and seeing she had a busted lip and black eye. He glared at her and Ginny and Harry quickly grabbed his arms to keep him from making a scene.
“Malfoy's going to talk to her. Let him handle it!” Harry whispered, seeing Draco ask her what happened.
“It was Harper and a fifth year. They attacked her when she entered the dorms” Hermione whispered, placing her hand against her head and lightly tapping her temple to tell them she was discussing it with Draco.
“I'll kill him!” Ron growled and they hushed him.
“Draco's going to take care of it” Hermione said, turning when she noticed the blond stand and walk down to the other end of the table where Harper and the boy were sitting there snickering and glancing at Pansy.
“Something wrong Malfoy?” Harper asked as he walked up to them.
“I know it was you and your friend here Harper.”
“You can't prove a damn thing Malfoy. Not like Snape would believe Parkinson anyway with how much trouble she causes” the boy next to him snickered, him remembering his name was Mark Crass.
“Shouldn't you be screwing your Gryffindor whore?” Harper replied calmly.
“I have a better idea” Draco sneered at them and looked up at Snape who slightly nodded, “Professor Snape, I propose fifty points from Slytherin house for attacking a student and another ten for disrespecting the Head Girl. Also the both of them serve detention with Filch tonight.”
“I'll allow it, Mr. Malfoy. Maybe in the future Mr. Harper and Mr. Crass, you will both learn not only to hold your tongue, but to remember that it is forbidden to attack a student no matter who they are or what they have done in the past. You will report to Filch for detention at 7P.M.” Snape replied and the hall was silent, rarely ever having seen him take points from his own house.
“I think we might need to come up with some new sleeping arrangements for all of the students that are being ostracized from Slytherin” Alex whispered to Severus who nodded.
“If these attacks keep happening, you may be right.”
“I'm going to start teaching Parkinson better ways to defend herself.”
“You are the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher after all” he said quietly.
“Want the position back? I'm sure Khira would love to take over potions for you” she said with a smirk.
“When I am dead and gone after this war-”
“Enough of that! I will not hear another word from you about you dying in this war” she cut him off and he scowled.
“You must accept that I will die Alex. There is no reason to continue on this path to find ways to keep me around.”
“There is a chance for all of us to die, but you need to learn that there's a chance to live as well. Look at Draco and Hermione and see the two of them for what they are. They're enemies who turned lovers and now are happier than ever. You can have that too Sev.”
“The woman I have always loved is dead-”
“Yes but she has a son and you are his godfather” Alex cut him off and he snarled, “She asked you to protect him. I know you look at him now and see nothing but Lily because of those eyes. I saw that change after you looked at him in the training room that day. Can you honestly tell me you have no reason to live beyond the war? You may not find love after the war, but at least you can have a life outside of servitude.”
“Humor me” he took a sip of his drink and looked at her, “What plans do your wife and you have once the war is over if you survive?”
“We wanted to start a family” Alex looked down when she said this.
“So you plan to adopt-”
“No, we planned to ask someone we trusted to be a sperm donor.”
“Who?”
“I don't know who exactly. Khira mentioned a few people, but I don't think I trust the first two.”
“Do I want to even know?”
“She did mention Arthur, but I told her I didn't want someone with that glaringly bright, red hair. Then there was Lupin, but I didn't want a chance of them being a werewolf, vampire hybrid. The last person we discussed would be the one I trust the most, but unfortunately he seems to think he'll die before the end of the war.”
After she said this she watched his face and smiled on the inside when she saw the shock creep into his eyes. She had finished her dinner and took one last sip of her wine, before standing and leaving through the teacher's entrance. She was halfway down the hall before she felt someone grab her arm and push her against the wall.
“Tell me you're joking” onyx colored eyes bore into hers and she let him in when she felt him push against her mind. She showed him the conversation she had with Khira and then the many times they talked about it afterwards. When she felt him pull from her mind he stepped back and shook his head, “Why me Lexi?”
“You're the only one I trust enough to ask” she said, waving her hand and the glamour he wore faded before she placed her hand on the scar. She muttered a spell and he felt a warmth envelope his cheek before it faded, “I didn't realize you still had the scar, or I would have done that long ago.”
He reached up and felt his cheek where the scar was, but felt nothing. Summoning a mirror he looked at his cheek and found the scar was gone. In it's place was smooth skin that looked like it had never been struck by that curse. Looking back at her he noticed she was looking away.
“Thank you Lexi.”
“No need to thank me” she looked at him before sighing, “I'm not asking you to make a decision now. I only ask that you consider it. If we all survive the war you can give your decision then.”
He watched her walk away before turning and walking back down the hall, taking a side corridor down to his office. Once he got there he found Khira already working on the potion. She looked up at him and smiled lightly, before going back to the potion. Damn the two of them and their scheming.
Alex entered the Room of Requirement to find Hermione and the others sitting there laughing and joking around. The room had been transformed into a common room similar to her quarters, but with many more places to sit. She walked over to one of the bookshelves and pulled a book down, before sitting in an armchair by the fire. She sat there listening to them all talking before she heard a knock at the wooden doors and turned along with the rest of them.
“Who could that be?” Harry asked and they looked at each other.
“Open the door you lot! I know you're in there and I need to talk to you!” Draco groaned as he heard Nott's voice through the door, before moving to open the door, finding the smirking Slytherin.
“What do you want Nott?”
“Calm down Draco! I just want to talk” he said, holding his hands up.
“Well get in here before someone sees you!”
They all tensed upon seeing the look on his face and Pansy shrunk against Ron's side. She shivered and Ron wrapped his arm around her tighter.
“You alright?” he whispered and she shook her head.
“Oh hello Parkinson! Got yourself a new boyfriend?” Nott said with a smirk.
“Leave her alone” Ron growled and his smirk grew.
“She was mine first Weasley. You just have sloppy seconds-”
“If the only reason you're here is to taunt Parkinson then I suggest you get the hell out Nott. Otherwise state your business already!” Alex snarled at him, and he stepped back.
“Sorry Professor, old habits and all that.”
“I'm sure. Now why are you here?”
“Well I heard recently through my father some interesting news and I wondered if any of it would be of use to you” he sneered at her and she rolled her eyes.
“What kind of news?”
“First, I have some conditions-”
“You're a Slytherin. I wouldn't doubt that” Alex moved to sit on the arm of the couch closest to him and he smirked.
“I want this to never get back to my father. If he finds out I gave this information up, he would kill me.”
“Anything else in your list of demands?” Draco asked, quickly growing tired of him.
“I want to learn more advanced defense spells-”
“Absolutely not!” they all turned to see Hermione was glaring at Nott with her hands on her hips, “What makes you think we can trust you? Even if we did we don't know if the information you'll be giving us is fact or not. Why would we risk arming the son of a death eater with that sort of knowledge?”
“Even if it helped you win the war?” Nott watched her face falter slightly and had a smug grin on his face, “That's what I thought Granger.”
“We'll ensure the first condition, but until I can confirm the information, the second one is out of the question” Alex stated and he nodded.
“I counter with this offer instead. I give you half the information now and the other half when you confirm the first part is truth and agree to my terms.”
Draco smirked as he watched Alex think it over. He knew she was playing with Nott right now. If she truly wanted the information she could easily read his mind and find it without him ever knowing. He saw her smirk and knew she'd done just that, but was going to play along.
“Alright Nott, you have a deal. Tell us what you know and we'll ensure your dear daddy doesn't find out.”
“As you know, Parkinson has the dark mark. That means she can be summoned at any time. My father said that she is going to be summoned very soon. She's going to need an excuse as to why she's been seen hanging around various members of Potter's group.”
“I already had thought of that, but I'm assuming there is more?”
“The Dark Lord and her father are both very unhappy. So unhappy that her father has students tracking her movements within the school-”
“WHAT?!” Pansy roared, shooting from her seat.
“Relax Parkinson!” Alex stated, and Ron pulled her back onto his lap.
“Like Professor Kruss said Pansy, relax. I found out who the students are that are tracking you. Harper, Crass, and Bullstrode are the only ones at the moment.”
“Millicent?” Pansy asked and he nodded.
“She's giving false information though.”
“Is that all you're giving us?”
“For now” he stated, looking at his nails, “That is until the Professor makes up her mind and decides to find a way to screw me over on the second part of the deal like she's been thinking about doing the past five minutes.”
“You're wrong Nott. I already know the second half of the information” Alex said with a smirk.
“What?” the look on his face made her snicker.
“Never look a vampire directly in the eye, even a half-breed.”
“Sneaky! I like it” he sneered at her and she sighed.
“I'll look into the second half of the information I found. If I feel it's worth the training, we'll talk.”
“I'll be going then. See you around everyone. Good luck” he replied, turning and walking out the door.
“What was the second half of the information?” Draco asked, moving closer to her.
“You're going to love this one Draco” she said with a grin, “Lucius was spotted recently in Hogsmeade.”
“When?!”
“Last week he was seen in Hogsmeade by a couple of the students that were here during holidays.”
“Why did no one say anything?” Draco growled.
“The students who saw him were children of death eaters.”
“So what do you plan to do?” he asked, sitting down on the couch opposite her.
“I'm going to go down there with Khira and we're going to do some scouting once it's nightfall. We can stick to the shadows and see if we can locate him. I'm sure if I pass out some galleons I can find him rather quickly if he's still there” she said and Draco nodded.
“Any idea where he might be specifically at?”
“No, but if he is still around my guess is he's using polyjuice or he's glamoured in some way to avoid detection.”
“Are you going to try and confront him?” Hermione asked, walking over.
“Not unless we find the perfect moment to. I don't want any witnesses.”
“Alex, I was using the glass ball earlier and saw all three of you in it. There were others as well, but I didn't know who they were.”
“Show me?” she asked and Hermione nodded, looking into her eyes.
Alex quickly navigated through her mind and sorted through all the faces Hermione had seen. She saw Lucius, Khira, and herself, but then saw a few others that made her growl. After seeing all of them she pulled out of her mind and shook her head.
“I don't think he's alone in the village.”
“Did you recognize any of them?” Draco asked and she nodded.
“The Carrow twins but there were two others I didn't recognize.”
“Be careful around the Carrows. They're both as bad as my aunt.”
“I can only imagine” she stated with a frown.
“Will you have issues with Dumbledore?” Harry asked.
“I doubt it. I might convince Severus to go along with us. Khira will go with him to let the Headmaster know and then we'll leave. We'll make it seem like we're going to get a drink at the Hog's Head. Parkinson, do you have fears you'll be attacked again soon?” Alex turned to her and she nodded.
“I wouldn't be surprised if I was.”
“Tonight, I want you all to stay in here. Leave the room, request it to make private dorms for you all, and we'll come up here after we're finished in the village” she watched as they all nodded before there was a knock at the door and Khira entered quickly, closing it behind her.
“Snape agrees with your plan, but he asks that we all wear glamours to prevent being caught. He thinks they'll be in the Hog's Head or that pub on the far end where no one really visits” she said quietly.
“How will you recognize them once you're in the village?” Harry asked.
“I'll read their aura's and see if I can find one that matches Lucius. His is an oily black and silver swirl. It reeks of dark magic.”
“Should I bring along some basic antidotes and other potions in case we get into a duel with them?” Khira asked Alex and she nodded.
“Alex, will the glamour interfere with any other glamours?” Hermione asked and traced her finger along her jaw where Snape's scar was at.
“It will temporarily replace any glamours we have. We just put the old ones back when we're done” she said and the young witch nodded.
Alex and Khira left the room just after seven and headed to the front doors of the castle. Once outside they were greeted by Snape, who was waiting in the shadows off the side of the path. He nodded to them and they walked down the path to the gates, glad they weren't stopped by anyone. Once they were outside the gates they waved their wands and placed glamours over their faces and hair. Looking at each other to memorize their glamours, they started making the trek to the village, staying alert in case anything happened.
“I think we should check out the Three Broomsticks and then the Hog's Head” Khira said after a few minutes of looking around, Alex saying she didn't see anything abnormal.
“Find a table while I talk to Madam Rosmerta” Alex whispered when they arrived, before walking up to the bar.
“Good evening Rosmerta” Alex greeted the witch as she took a seat at the far end of the bar away from the other patrons and the barmaid turned to her.
“Good evening! How may I help you tonight?” she said with a smile. Alex waited until all her patrons were occupied before she said anything.
“I'm actually looking for someone and wondered if you could help me find him.”
“Who might that be?” the older woman asked, leaning in to talk when Alex began to whisper.
“An older man with blond, almost white hair, and grey eyes that could petrify you with one gaze” Alex hinted and saw the barmaid's face slip slightly. 'So he was here...interesting.'
“I'm sorry but I do not recall anyone by that description being in here recently. Are you sure that's what he looks like at the moment?” Alex nodded “The only wizards I've seen in here is the common rabble I get and a few random strangers. Those strangers felt it better to go to the Hog's Head, claiming my food was sub par though.”
“Such a shame! They must be completely uneducated.”
“They didn't talk much, but it just seemed like one of them thought himself better than anyone in my pub. We've been better off without him here” she replied, wiping down the bar.
“Well I for one adore your food and have never complained.”
“Thank you for that. I only wish I could help you more” Alex smiled and nodded.
“Well, thank you regardless for the conversation and you have a lovely evening. I'll be sure to come by again some time soon for that shepherds pie you make” Alex smiled at her and slid five galleons across the counter, which the witch instantly swiped up and smiled.
Alex got up from her seat and went to sit next to her wife who took a drink of her tea and smirked lightly. She winked at her wife and took a sip of her tea when the waiter brought it over. Looking around the room she surveyed everyone's auras but didn't see anyone that caught her eye.
“If they were ever here, they're gone now” Alex whispered, sipping her tea.
“So Hog's Head next?” Snape asked and she nodded “Aberforth will not be happy.”
“Let's finish our tea and then leave. Don't want to make it more obvious” Khira stated.
Finishing their tea a few minutes later they stood and set out to the next pub. Khira paused just after entering, pretending to take off her cloak, and they saw why upon following her gaze. In the far back corner there was a group of men huddled together laughing and drinking. They all had black robes and looked to be oblivious to their presence. Khira instantly recognized Alecto Carrow though and growled lightly. The only one they didn't immediately recognize was sitting at the back of the booth, and looked out of place.
“Calm yourself love, we'll handle them” Alex whispered, quickly reading them all, “That's Lucius alright under the glamour.”
“Are you sure?” Snape asked, and she nodded.
“His aura is muddled, but the bastard didn't glamour his cane!” she smirked and they looked over, confirming what she had said. Lucius was unrecognizable without it, but the cane he was using was a dead giveaway.
“Let us try a different approach then” Severus said, backing out of the pub and replacing his glamour with his original one before entering again, “Follow me and act like you're both here with me for more than just drinks.”
“You owe us you bastard!” Alex snarled and he smirked, moving to a booth across the pub from the death eaters. Alex grabbed the corner seat first and then Khira sat next to her and Snape sat on the edge.
Severus ordered their drinks and smirked when he caught the group eyeing them. Alex and Khira stared at each other briefly to plot what to do and Khira snarled when Alex suggested she openly flirt with him to see how the others react.
-Why?-
-You're the one who is sitting next to him. Besides, you can cover your voice more than I can love.-
-The only person I've ever done this around is you!-
-Time to show that Gryffindor bravery and step up your game then. You say I've corrupted you, so prove it kitten.- Khira shuddered at the pet name and Alex hid her smirk behind her hand, but there was mirth in her eyes as she watched Khira turn to the Potions Professor.
“Severus” she had raised her voice slightly, resting her hand on his shoulder, before he looked at her, “Why have you refused to come see us all this time?”
“My apologies, but I have been busy” he smiled lightly at her and she smiled back.
“Well I'm sure you'll make up for it tonight for sure” Alex said, taking a small sip of her drink and resting her head on Khira's shoulder. They noticed she'd glamoured her voice to be slightly higher and hide her accent “It really has been too long since we've been able to just enjoy a night together, just the three of us.”
“I completely agree, it has been too long. I must make sure to not wait so long next time” he turned to face them more to hide his sneer as Alex smiled back, the laughter in his eyes evident to only them.
Alex caught the movement before any of them though, and slowly leaned back as she noticed Lucius and one of the men from the table stand up and approach them. She didn't recognize the man with him, but she only hoped he was completely incompetent. Severus noticed her reaction and leaned back just as Lucius and his associate walked over.
“Ah Snape! I didn't realize you would be here tonight” Khira shivered as she felt a cold chill settle over her at hearing his voice.
“Who are you exactly?”
“Sorry about the glamour, but it was needed to get this close to the school. How is my son doing with his little mudblood lover by the way?” Snape nodding to acknowledge he understood.
“I have not talked to my godson much lately. I assume he is doing well since his scores are as they always are and he is not causing much trouble.”
“I'm sure” he said, before turning to the two witches, “Intriguing companions you have with you tonight Severus.”
“They are very intriguing aren't they?” Severus looked at the man behind Lucius and sneered, “I could say the same about yours. Who might you be?”
“Romanov” the man answered briefly, Alex cringing inwardly upon hearing his Russian accent. She couldn't help but shift at this and hoped it made it look like his accent had effected her. She smiled when he turned to her, “Something wrong?”
“Sorry, it is just your accent. It's so sexy!” she said, lowering her eyes, pretending to be embarrassed.
“I know what you mean. It's so dreamy!” Khira placed her hand on Alex's knee and squeezed it lightly to reassure her.
“We will leave you to your entertainment for the night Severus. Keep an eye on my son and if you get any new information that may be vital, be sure to let me know. I'm sure the Dark Lord would appreciate it” Lucius said and turned to walk away.
“I will keep that in mind.”
Once they were gone Alex grabbed her drink off the table and quickly downed it, Khira following behind her and doing the same quickly. Severus drank his a little slower, but once he finished, he placed his glass down in the middle of the table.
“I think it best we leave now before they get too suspicious” Khira stated and they nodded.
“We need to get back to the castle and to the Room of Requirement” Alex said quietly.
“Both of you go ahead of me. I'll pay and be right out” Severus said, standing up.
The two women moved to get out of the pub as fast as they could without raising suspicions. Once outside they pulled their cloaks close to them and moved to the shadows to remove their glamours. As Severus walked outside he nodded to them and moved over to where they stood. They all quickly walked back to the school as fast as they could. Suddenly Alex and Khira tensed and cursed under their breath.
“Lucius and Romanov are following us” Alex whispered, and he groaned.
“Have they seen your faces?”
“Not yet, but we need to be careful.”
“Both of you walk ahead quickly and make it seem like you're in a haste to get out of the cold.”
“Be careful Sev” Alex said, briefly turning to look at the two men, before Khira and her started moving faster towards the castle.
“Severus!” Lucius called and he paused, turning to look at the two behind him.
“Yes?”
“Did you really think you fooled me? I knew that was Kruss and her wife!” Lucius asked, holding his wand up.
“Who I spend time with in my free time is none of your business Lucius.”
“Crucio!”
Severus gasped as the spell hit him and fell to his knees. The pain coursed through his body and he gasped as he felt his hands and arms start to feel on fire, the burn spreading to his chest and neck. He tried to fight off the spell but couldn't. Suddenly he heard a loud snarl and the spell ended, before he opened his eyes. He saw Khira casting spells at Romanov and Alex was standing in front of him, snarling and her eyes a bright indigo.
“That's enough Lucius!” she growled, baring her fangs and hissing at him.
“I knew it was you!” he sneered, leveling his wand on her.
“You know this won't end well for you Lucius” she scowled, keeping a close eye on him, noticing Romanov barely missed a spell and apparated away.
Khira turned to face Lucius and snarled at him as well. He started waving his wand between the two of them before settling on Khira and smirking.
“You can't protect them both Kruss!” she noticed a dark look came over his face and stepped forward hesitantly.
Suddenly, Lucius slashed his wand in the air before a bright silver light shot out of his wand and towards Khira. The second the light left his wand Lucius apparated away. There was a sudden flash of light and wave of magic, forcing Alex and Severus to fly back almost twenty feet. Once the light vanished Alex looked over where the spell had landed and gasped.
“Khira!"
Yes I know...cliffhanger. I had to do it though. I wanted to give some insight to why I'm involving Snape in this the way I have been so far. He's going to play a VERY vital role later on in the story for everyone and I needed to work him into it. I've always had a soft spot for the character, and felt it needed to be added in.
As always guys, thanks for reading and please leave reviews to let me know what you think. I've been considering doing random one shots that are based off song lyrics as well lately. I have a few of them thought up, but would need to get them written down. Would love to hear your opinions on the idea as well guys.
