Chapter 23
After one final glance at the gifts he received from his son and husband, Severus made up his mind; he couldn’t spend yet another holiday alone. Theoretically, he was supposed to stay in Hogwarts and watch over the students that stayed over the winter break, but Severus couldn’t fight the need to see his loved ones. Once he made up his mind, half an hour later, he found himself in the backyard of 12 Grimmauld Place.
Kreacher, gladly helped him get into the kitchen, but from there Severus had to sneak up the stairs to the master bedroom, which Sirius occupied ever since he gave his old bedroom to Orion. So far, he already made it to the first floor without getting caught, but he felt ridiculous sneaking into the house he used to call home. The potions master was about to reach out for the doorknob to Sirius’ bedroom, when the door flew open and a very pissed off Black stood there glaring at him.
“A rough day?” asked Severus, not finding better words to greet his husband.
“It’s definitely better now that my Christmas surprise has arrived,” smirked Sirius, embraced the other wizard and pulled him inside the room. The door to the bedroom was safely locked now and the two men could finally enjoy some much needed alone-time. “Finally, I can keep you only to myself.”
Severus couldn’t agree more with the other wizard’s words and he instinctively wrapped his arms around Sirius, and kissed him passionately. The other man quickly responded to it and pressed his whole body against his husband. Even though they were only kissing, the fact that they didn’t get a chance to be intimate for over a decade only added to the already built-up tension. The need and lust were visible in their every move. Soon enough, their hands were wandering on their own all over the other one’s body; searching for buttons to open the troublesome robes.
That night, before Severus arrived at Grimmauld Place, his mind was filled with doubts and fear of how his relation with Sirius would go from now on; they decided to give their marriage another try, but the potions master was afraid his bad treatment of Sirius in the past would affect the way they both felt about each other. The other wizard had similar concerns; he wasn’t sure if Severus would treat him the way he did before he hid Orion with the Potters. However, all of those fears vanished the moment they broke the kiss and searched one another’s eyes for an answer whether they should continue or not.
Severus was the first one to break the silence. It took only one look into Sirius’ eyes and he remembered how much he loved the man, even though he sometimes got on his nerves. Severus missed his husband, his presence, his touch and his love. He didn’t wait for the other man’s response; instead, one of his hands cupped Sirius’ cheek, while their lips connected once again in another passionate kiss. With ease, the potions master wrapped his arm around his husband’s waist and without breaking the kiss, he gently pushed Sirius onto the bed. They both fell on the soft mattress and indulged in the pleasure. Soon after, both of their robes were lying on the floor and they enjoyed the feeling of skin on skin. Even though a decade has passed, they still remembered the wonderful feeling of the other one’s touch.
“Are you sure you want to do it?” Severus forced himself to ask the question, even though he was hungry with lust to kiss Sirius’ body all over.
“Don’t you want to do that?” the wizard asked with a playful smirk, while his hands found their way down, to rest on Severus’ butt cheeks.
“Such a tease,” smirked the potions master and ran his hands over his husband’s naked chest and down to his thighs. The facial expressions and occasional muffled moans Sirius was making, made Severus even more horny; it took all his self-control not to pin the wizard to the bed and get his way with him. The potions master fought back a laugh when he remembered their wedding night and how impatient Sirius was; his husband’s actions right now reminded him a bit of that time, but even more, the times when they had sex while Sirius was already pregnant with Orion. “You’re so eager today…makes me think you want to get knocked up again.”
“What if I would like that?” those words caught Severus by surprise and Sirius took advantage of it. He quickly switched places and now it was Severus, who was lying on his back and Sirius leaned over him, placing kisses on his lips, and slowly moving downwards. His hands were caressing the sides of the potions master’s chest, then hips and thighs. Seeing that his husband was observing him, still a bit surprised by the sudden turn of events, Sirius lied down between Severus’ legs and moved one of his hands down the man’s inner thigh and over his abdomen. All the time avoiding contact with Severus’ already hard cock.
“Sirius…don’t be cruel,” the potions master was already past his initial shock. Now, all he could think of was how much he wanted to feel more of his husband’s touch. He needed Sirius’s help with the effects of the arousal. Just when he was about to say what he wanted the man to do, he felt warm breath on his cock, followed by a wet, but pleasurable sensation of Sirius’ tongue going up and down his manhood. The wizard was teasing him like that for a longer time, stopping every now and then, just to watch Severus’ annoyed and at the same time filled with lust expression. Sirius truly loved his husband and every single moment of their intimate encounters; he enjoyed making Severus feel good, just like in the old days, when they were sneaking out of Hogwarts for long nights of passionate love-making.
After what felt like hours, Sirius decided it’s about time he stopped torturing the other wizard and denying him his orgasm. In all honesty, he was at his limit as well. Sirius had to admit, Severus wasn’t the type everyone would call good-looking, but for him, there was always something about the potions master that he found attractive. The fact that he was one of the very few people who actually saw Severus without greasy hair from the potions’ fumes and dressed in elegant robes, only caused Sirius to have even higher opinion about his husband’s looks. Now, seeing him naked after so many years made him smirk that the man he chose was just as handsome in his mid-thirties as he was in his twenties.
He ran his hands over Severus’ chest, abdomen and thighs one more time and decided he was definitely at his limit. He needed to feel more of his husband’s touch. He needed to feel Severus’ already twitching, rock-hard cock again. He quickly got on his knees and moved further up, straddling over his husband’s abdomen and leaning forward to kiss his lips. “Wouldn’t you like to knock me up again?” Sirius tried to playfully whisper those words in Severus’ ear, but the lust, audible in his voice, made him sound horny.
The potions master was quick to respond to his husband’s words. He tangled one hand in Sirius’ hair and pulled him in for a long, heated kiss. In the same time, he managed to sit up on the bed and gently lay Sirius down. Severus got comfortable between the other man’s legs and rubbed his fingers against Sirius’ entrance. Breaking the kiss, he licked his fingers and quickly, but thoroughly started preparing the other wizard for what would come next. All the time, he placed loving kisses on Sirius’ lips, cheeks and neck.
“Severus…just do it,” Sirius nearly whined, because he couldn’t wait anymore. “I’ve waited for this almost fifteen years…don’t make me wait even longer.”
“Seems like I’ll have to start brewing the pregnancy potion for you as soon as I get back to Hogwarts, if you’re this eager,” Severus smirked and without much warning pressed his penis against Sirius’ entrance. The familiar tightness was wonderful and just by looking at his husband, he knew the other man was also enjoying the feeling. Severus paused when he was fully inside of Sirius. One of his hands ran in circles over the wizard’s chest, massaging it and making Sirius relax faster. After a moment, he saw silent permission in Sirius’ eyes and he started moving his hips. At the beginning Severus moved slowly, enjoying every second of their reunion, but soon enough he became hungry for more. Sirius’ moans, which were getting louder with every minute, only encouraged Severus to speed up his actions.
“Severus…more,” Sirius begged in a husky voice. His hands were searching for even more contact with his lover, but the next thing he knew was the other wizard’s hand grabbing his cock and moving up and down, making Sirius unable to do anything or even think straight. He simply allowed himself to indulge in the sensations his husband’s actions were giving him.
“You’re mine, Sirius…I will never let you go again,” panted Severus in between thrusts. He felt the need to say all of that to his husband; he needed to know that all of their problems were already in the past and they will be a strong and loving family again. “I love you Sirius…and I need you by my side.”
“I love you too…,” Sirius managed to say the words even though his orgasm was very close and made it difficult to form coherent sentences. “Severus…I’m close…”
Severus encouraged by his husband’s words only applied more pressure while pumping Sirius’ penis and thrusted harder into him. Feeling his orgasm very close, Sirius wrapped his arms around Severus and pulled him closer to himself. His lips touched the other wizard’s shoulder just in the moment when he couldn’t take it anymore and orgasm took over his entire body.
“Sirius…I’m getting close too,” the potions master panted heavily and placed kisses on Sirius’ neck.
“Cum for me Sev,” said the other wizard in a husky voice. Seconds later, he felt his husband’s orgasm and he couldn’t help himself, and bit Severus’ shoulder leaving a small, red mark.
“I love you Sirius…you and Orion,” said Severus when the two of them were finally able to steady their breathing. He moved on the bed and sat against the bedhead. Sirius sat next to him, gently leaning against his shoulder. The potions master then took his husband’s hand in his own and looked in his eyes. “You and Orion are everything I need. Getting my family back would be the best gift I could have ever asked for.”
“You do have us, Severus. Orion loves you too…he just doesn’t know yet how to express that,” assured him Sirius and leaned in for another kiss.
“Will you tell me now what got you so angry before I got here?”
“Draco invited Orion and the rest of the kids to a New Year’s party in some club in London, but of course Molly and Dumbledore forbid me to let Orion go to the party. Can you imagine that?”
“Neither Molly is his mother, nor Albus is his guardian,” commented Severus with annoyance audible in his voice; lately, the headmaster was especially getting on his nerves with the way he treated the Blacks.
“Precisely. I don’t see any reason to deny Orion some fun with his friends and cousin,” Sirius announced proudly when he saw his husband agreed with him.
The two men remained like that, enjoying the last few hours they had, before Severus would have to sneak back to Hogwarts. They talked about their future, their plans; how they would like to move back into the Edinburgh house, where they had so many memories; they discussed Orion’s future; and before Severus had to leave, they made love once again.
Meanwhile, the door to the bathroom on the second floor slowly opened and none other, but baffled Orion came out of it. He glanced in his parents’ bedroom’s direction, to check if the wizards were still inside.
Earlier that night, he couldn’t sleep, because of his dreams about Draco, and went to the bathroom for a quick shower. What he didn’t expect was to hear his parents’ reunion. The two wizards used a silencing charm on the door to their bedroom, but they forgot about the vent between the room and bathroom. The teen was so shocked when he realised what it was that he heard, that he couldn’t move from his place. He was done with his shower in about ten minutes, but later on, both his curiosity and shock didn’t allow him to go back to his room. Instead he sat there listening to the conversation of his fathers and their love-making.
When they were finally done, Orion decided it was about time he went back to his bed before someone noticed he was missing. As soon as he lied down in bed, he started thinking about what he heard. On one hand, he was happy to hear that his fathers indeed loved each other and cared about him more than anything; but on the other hand, he felt bad for eavesdropping on such a private moment. He wasn’t surprised or offended by the fact that he heard two men doing it, but for some reason it made him think about Draco even more.
‘Wonderful,’ thought annoyed Orion. ‘Now I won’t be able to get the image of half-naked Draco out of my mind.’
The day after Christmas, Fred and George couldn’t wait for Orion to wake up. The twins were able to figure out where outside of the house their gift from Orion was hidden, but they lacked precise instructions and needed the teen’s help. Mr Weasley and Sirius agreed to accompany them outside, because it was too dangerous to let them wander around without anyone’s protection.
When they finally reached Diagon Alley, they could only follow Orion, since the rest of them didn’t know what exactly they were looking for. Truth to be told, Sirius knew what his son prepared for the twins, but he kept it a secret. Young Black led them to an old rundown shop. At first, they were all surprised and wanted to know what they were doing there, but then Orion led them inside. The shop was indeed in a very bad condition, but soon enough, Fred and George understood that Orion planned to gift them this particular property, or at least help them with establishing their shop.
The Weasleys were against such an expensive gift, but the Blacks insisted. It took Orion about two days to talk some sense into his friends, but thankfully on the third day after Christmas, the twins came to him to talk peacefully about the gift and some business plans. The teens locked themselves in the dining room and discussed the details of their agreement.
“So let’s sum it all up,” said Orion, after about two hours of discussion. “I’ve found a good property and booked it for the two of you, for a really low price. The basic equipment you saw in the back of the shop is my Christmas gift to you. Now, when it comes to business…I believe there is potential in your business plan and I want to invest in your future shop. I’ll pay for everything you need to get the shop running and even after that I will donate money for more expensive projects.”
“But you’re going to receive some percentage of our shop’s income,” said George to clarify the future finances of their business.
“Yes, a small percent would be nice and I could help you stock up in some rare ingredients you might need for your experiments,” said Orion. “Of course I don’t expect you to make the final decision right now. Also, don’t feel obliged to take up my offer. My gift to you is one thing and I’m happy I could help you at least a bit, but if you’re not comfortable with me investing in your shop on such conditions, that’s fine as well.”
“No, Orion, don’t get us wrong,” said Fred. “We’re very interested in your offer. We already thought about it, but since it concerns money…well, money is always a fragile subject so…”
“If it makes you feel calmer and more secure about this deal, we can sign up an agreement,” offered Black and smiled reassuringly to the twins. Part of him felt bad for making such an offer to the Weasley twins, but another part of him knew there was nothing wrong with this deal; he would never trick any of his friends; he’d never let any harm happen to them.
“We can sign up an agreement…just to have everything official, but we trust you and definitely take your offer,” announced Fred, while George nodded in agreement.
“I’m glad I can help you start your shop. It really has great potential,” said Orion and shook hands with them.
“Are you done here?” asked Ron peeking into the room. Just behind him stood Ginny, who looked just as annoyed as her brother.
“Were you eavesdropping, Ronniekins?” teased him George.
“Of course not,” lied unconvincingly Ron. “More importantly, you’d better come out here and see what’s going on…it’s a mess.”
The twins and Orion walked out on the corridor, just in time to see Mrs Weasley furiously yelling at Sirius, and dragging her trunk to the kitchen. It was an odd sight mainly because Black was perfectly calm, even though the witch was saying every possible insult about his parenting skills; and yet, the wizard didn’t say a word. When Molly noticed that her children and Orion were listening to her fight with Sirius, she smiled apologetically, walked over to Orion and hugged him nearly crushing him.
“I’m so sorry I can’t protect you better…you’re like a son to me, but still your irresponsible, so-called father has the final say when it comes to your safety,” she glared at Sirius and quickly looked back at the teen. “I hope you understand you all shouldn’t endanger yourselves in such crazy times. Please think it through again, Orion. It would be safer and better if you stayed at home during winter break.”
“But mum! Why can’t we at least stay here?” whined Ron, who definitely didn’t want to spend the rest of the holidays at the Burrow.
“Don’t say anything else or it’s going to get even worse,” whispered to him Bill, who was dragging more trunks from upstairs. “I already tried talking calmly with mum about it, but it didn’t work.”
After half an hour of whining, protesting and pleading to stay at Grimmauld Place for the next few days, Mrs Weasley remained adamant about returning home. Without any choice left, the red heads packed their trunks, wished Orion, Sirius and Remus fun for the remaining few days of holidays, and returned to their house.
Meanwhile, the Blacks and Remus stood dumbstruck by what just happened. Sirius seemed somewhat satisfied with the turn of events, which made his son and friend curious. In the end, Orion proved to be the less patient one and asked the question that bothered them.
“Why did you fight with Mrs Weasley?”
“Sometimes her attitude annoys me,” Sirius answered simply.
“But she’s just trying to be the best mother ever,” said Orion.
“Exactly, she thinks she’s the best mother-figure for you,” explained older Black. It became obvious that he was jealous and angry that most people thought he was the irresponsible father, when in fact he was Orion’s mother-figure.
“Don’t worry dad,” the teen assured him with a smile. “I would never exchange you for anyone else.”
Sirius smiled back, feeling genuinely happy about his son’s words. “By the way, this is the reason Molly snapped today,” said the man and handed Orion a big, silver coin. “This is the portkey that Draco sent you. It will take you to the safe point near the club. I also think you can freely floo-call your cousin, now that no one will mind you keeping in touch with Draco.”
It was only four days till the end of winter break and Dumbledore found himself very busy travelling to find new allies to fight against the threat of Voldemort’s reign. So far, he mostly managed to convince only a few new wizarding families of half-blood descent to join the Order of the Phoenix, but that was far from enough.
Lately, he met with more and more difficulties in recruiting new members to the order; mostly because since Voldemort’s return he’s been lying low and not doing anything obvious or terrifying. This was a new tactic of the dark wizard and Albus found it very difficult to fight with such an opponent, because many witches and wizards didn’t see the threat and as such they didn’t see the need to join any group that required fighting. Even the people who already supported him were starting to get out of hand, which frustrated Dumbledore even more.
Thankfully, he still had wizards like Alastor Moody, who trusted and agreed with him in practically everything. He was, right now, on his way to meet with the ex-auror, who requested to see him as soon as possible. That’s why, the first thing Albus did after returning to Hogwarts was head to his friend’s quarters, next to the DADA classroom.
“You wanted to talk with me,” said the headmaster as soon as the door to the chamber closed behind him. Dumbledore watched his friend’s face closely and he could already tell that the wizard looked more paranoid than usual; he seemed to be searching for spies even in his own, heavily-warded quarters. “What’s bothering you, Alastor?”
“How much do you trust Snape?” asked Moody straightforward.
“He knows I tried protecting his only childhood friend during last war. That was his condition before he agreed to spy on Voldemort,” answered Albus. “Unfortunately Lily didn’t survive when Voldemort attacked them, but I’m rather certain that Severus trusts me and my plans.”
“I wouldn’t be that sure. You asked me to keep an eye on everything odd happening in the castle during winter break,” said Alastor. “Did Snape inform you of any Death Eaters’ meetings or that he needs to do something outside of Hogwarts during holidays?”
“No.”
“He wasn’t here, Albus. He sneaked out of the castle on Christmas. I saw him returning after a few hours and believe me he was acting like someone who doesn’t want to be caught.”
“That’s suspicious indeed,” agreed the headmaster and started pacing around the room. He then took out a piece of paper with the drawing of the neckless he had seen in Voldemort’s cave not that long ago. “I’m still rather certain Severus wouldn’t go back to serving the Dark Lord, but we should keep an eye on him. He might be hiding something. Unfortunately, he’s not the only one who could become problematic. I’ve talked with Charlie Weasley and he openly refused to help the Order. I don’t know what it is, but something must have happened in Romania that changed him, but we don’t know what it is.”
“Maybe we should find someone to check it out,” suggested Moody.
“I already took care of that. I’ve sent an owl to the Dragon Sanctuary in Romania to find out more about the situation,” informed him Dumbledore and placed the drawing he was holding, on the table, in front of ex-auror. “This, however, is of utmost importance. You’re the only person I’m telling this. No one can find out about it until I figure out a way to solve this problem. Do you know what this is?”
“Of course. That’s Slytherin’s locket, I’ve seen it thousands of times on each of his portraits.”
“Exactly. The last known owner of it was Voldemort and that’s where the things get more interesting,” said Albus and put an old Daily Prophet next to the drawing; he pointed to the photo taken during Sirius’ trail and continued. “Look who has it now.”
“Regulus Black? But how? Voldemort would never give his heirloom away.”
“Precisely. Regulus was lying about not supporting Voldemort. Not only he was, but he still is his follower and I dare say a very devoted one; otherwise the Dark Lord wouldn’t give such a precious thing to him.”
“But if he supports Voldemort…do you think Sirius is also involved in this? He has been acting very rebellious lately,” noticed Moody.
“Sirius always has been rebellious and I doubt he’d ally with the wizard who killed his friends and tried murdering his son,” said Albus. “He was always hesitant to do anything that might hurt his family, even if they supported Voldemort, but I think he’s just not aware of the fact how close his brother is to the Dark Lord. I’d say Sirius is yet another person we have to keep an eye on. Especially that whatever he does, influences his son’s actions.”
In the morning of the last day of the year, Orion and Sirius had a very important meeting to attend to – the meeting with the Dark Lord. Luckily, that morning Remus decided to visit the Tonks and spend most of the day with them. That allowed the Blacks to travel to Voldemort’s castle without any problems. Before they left, Sirius instructed Kreacher that if anyone asked about them, he was supposed to say they went to Diagon Alley to buy some books for Orion. To keep their alibi, they dropped by Flourish and Blotts for a moment, bought some books about curse breaking and only after that Sirius apparated them to the castle where he spent a few months last year.
It was still very early when they arrived at the main courtyard of the castle. Sirius already knew the place, but Orion was rather surprised and amazed by the architecture – it wasn’t exactly as big and grand as Hogwarts, but still it was large and impressive. The place seemed abandoned at first, but that was because Regulus made sure no Death Eaters were visiting them that day.
“Orion, I’m sorry I’m telling you this just now, but there was no opportunity to do that before and it’s rather important,” started Sirius when they entered the main hall and headed for the grand staircase. “You see…there is something about the Dark Lord that I’ve learned only a few months ago and it might be a bit difficult for you to accept it at first, but…”
The teen stopped and looked at his father. The wizard seemed to have hard time finding the right words to tell him the big news. Orion only smiled inwardly at how worried his dad was about his reaction, but the teen had a pretty good idea of what that news might be. Not wanting to torture his father even more, he decided to ask about his findings straight forward.
“Dad, the thing that you’re trying to tell me right now…does it have anything to do with the fact that uncle Regulus is living in this castle?” he asked, leaving Sirius completely shocked by how his son found out about it. “And maybe also that uncle Regulus is actually married to the most feared dark wizard of our times?”
“But…how did you find out about it?” asked Sirius, completely astounded by the sudden turn of events.
“Well, the concealing spell on the family tree tapestry works only for people from outside of our family, but I can very well see through it,” Orion explained with a smug look on his face. “Besides, I started thinking about all the times uncle Regulus was showing up and I kind of figured the truth.”
“Well done, Orion,” they were suddenly interrupted by someone clapping hands and walking down the stairs towards them. The man was dressed like a Death Eater, but immediately he removed the disguise and revealed his identity. Younger of the Black brothers was standing there, smiling to them. “I’ve got such a smart nephew.”
“Did you ever have doubts about that, brother?” teased him Sirius while walking forward to greet him.
“Of course not,” he assured them and turned to face Orion. “Are you sure you’re alright with this meeting, now that you know the relation between us all?”
“Well, I doubt I’m gonna be able to ever call him my uncle, but after all…he nearly lost his life trying to get me out of Godric’s Hollow,” said Orion.
“I’m glad you see it that way. If you get to know him, he’s not such a monster,” laughed Regulus. “But he does get mad when people are late for an appointed meeting, so let’s go.”
The three of them walked up the stairs and down a long, grand corridor to the big chamber, where Voldemort was already waiting for them. As soon as they entered the room, they saw a big, old table in the middle of the chamber and at the far end of it, sat the Dark Lord in his black robes and snake-like appearance. For a longer moment, Voldemort was exchanging looks with his husband, which seemed like they were having a silent conversation, but only they could understand it.
“It’s alright. Orion already knows we’re married,” Regulus finally said out loud and sat next to the Dark Lord.
“In that case there is no need for the glamour,” said the dark wizard mostly to himself and took out his wand. In only a few seconds, the snake-like face vanished and was replaced by the handsome features of Tom. Orion nearly gasped when all of a sudden he saw the person he remembered from his second year in Hogwarts. This man, however was still very good-looking, just a bit older than the boy from back then, but Orion could very well understand his uncle now - how he could have fallen in love with this wizard. “I see you remember my true appearance from the time when you destroyed my diary.”
“…Yes,” was all the teen could say, because suddenly he felt embarrassed for ruining something that belonged to his family member.
“However, you wanted to meet with us to discuss something of great importance, but I doubt you wanted to talk about family relations,” started Voldemort, who saw that the boy was feeling uneasy.
“Yes…well this matter does involve our family, but indeed it’s more than just about family relations,” started Orion after a deep breath. “Many witches and wizards do not trust pureblood families and the house of Black is considered nearly extinct, but I want to restore the family’s former glory and get people to trust pureblood families.”
“And how do you want to do that?” asked the Dark Lord.
“The Black family’s vault is still filled with gold. We could use some of it to start an institution that would serve magical community. An institution that, surprisingly, was never established in the magical world before…an orphanage.”
Hearing that last word, Tom immediately tensed up and his hands curled into fists. He had a very bad experience with such institutions and if it was his decision, he’d destroy every single one of them. The fact that Orion suggested the Black family could run such a place only made him furious. Meanwhile, Regulus knew exactly what was going on in his husband’s head right now. He knew what Tom went through in his childhood and he understood why the wizard wasn’t too happy about the idea. Regulus discreetly placed a hand on his husband’s arm and gave him a reassuring squeeze.
“Orphanages are a very Muggle thing and not very good for magical children, Orion” started Regulus to give Voldemort some time to calm down. “But maybe you have some more details.”
“Yes, of course. I don’t know what it’s like to be raised in a Muggle orphanage, but I do know what it’s like to be raised by Muggles who hate everything and everyone that has anything to do with magic,” explained Orion and looked straight into the Dark Lord’s eyes. “And I don’t want any magical child to grow up in such conditions.”
“Keep going, I’m curious about where you’re going with this idea,” said Tom seeing determination in the teen’s eyes.
“Of course this idea will not be exactly according to pureblood ways, but with some minor exceptions from the strict pureblood beliefs we can get the wizarding world focusing back on the magical traditions instead of bringing more and more Muggle habits into our world,” saying this, Orion took out a scroll with detailed notes on this enterprise. “For example, we could very well keep track of magical children born in the Muggle world, as well as orphans left in the Muggle world. Instead of allowing them to grow up in Muggle orphanages or foster families, we could bring them to live in a magical orphanage and get them acquainted with the wizarding world from the very beginning. If we develop a good system we might be even able to track down the parentage of those children. That way those kids wouldn’t be treated poorly because they were raised among Muggles so probably they are Muggle-borns, but we might be able to prove that they are for example half-bloods. Those children would relate themselves with the magical world more than with the Muggle one, and they’d accept and prefer our traditions over the non-magical ones.”
“Your idea does sound very good, but I don’t think there will be enough magical orphans to keep such an institution running, and forcefully taking Muggle-borns away from their parents’ house is simply out of the question,” said Sirius.
“I know, but that’s where the second part of my plan starts. Most children from the wizarding families get their basic education before going to Hogwarts, at home, however that’s impossible for those children that live among Muggles. Apart from the orphanage, we could run an elementary school for magical children. That way, even Muggle-borns would be introduced to the wizarding world and our traditions sooner,” explained Orion with a smirk, when he saw that the other three wizards seemed very intrigued by what he was saying. “Not only our family, but all the purebloods could benefit from this plan.”
“Indeed, no one from the light side would think badly of the family that offered shelter, protection and education to children,” agreed Voldemort. “Although, I’m not sure this would be enough to redeem me in their eyes. After all, they might even get suspicious of you for doing business with me.”
“I thought about that as well and I believe I have a solution,” said quickly Orion. “Since I wanted this to be a family business anyway, I thought we could each have our share in this enterprise. Of course, I came up with this plan, but in order to help you get away from dementor’s kiss in the future, I’m willing to officially announce this as your idea and give you and uncle Regulus a bigger share in the business.”
At that moment, Sirius was both shocked and at the same time proud of what his son has offered. The teen was basically giving all the credit for his idea to Voldemort, just because he wanted to protect the family members from a miserable end. Regulus, who sat across the table from them, seemed equally surprised and speechless.
“Why would you do that?” asked baffled Tom. “People hate me, fear me…I also caused you a lot of trouble in your first and second year of school…”
“But I trust uncle Regulus and his judgement…you also risked your life in Godric’s Hollow, and even if you did that not for me, but to make uncle Regulus happy, it makes you humane and already redeems you in my eyes.”
“Fair enough,” said the older wizard. “I accept your offer then. It’s a really good plan, but I’d like to go through the details you have in that scroll.”
“Naturally,” said Orion and handed him the notes.
“When the school year resumes, I’ll send Dorian Whitham to you with the documents to get the plan in motion. We’ll of course keep up the appearances that Regulus and his spouse sent him to you, but you haven’t met that spouse yet. This should protect you from accusations of supporting the Death Eaters.”
“Perfect,” agreed Orion. The four of them discussed the paperwork for the business until it started to get dark outside.
Later that evening, Orion got dressed in the new set of clothes he received from the Malfoys and hurried downstairs to use the portkey he got from Draco.
“Someone looks handsome,” noticed Tonks, who was visiting Remus and Sirius at Grimmauld Place. “You’re gonna break many female hearts if you keep looking like that.”
“Female or male hearts,” commented quietly Sirius and winked to his son.
“I better get going…it’s already 8 pm,” said Orion, hugged his dad and activated the portkey.
Moments later, the teen was already in some unknown street. When he looked around, it was obvious that he was still in London, because he spotted some characteristic sights, but he still didn’t recognize this particular street he was at right now.
“Orion, here!” he turned around and spotted Draco waving to him from the opposite side of the street. Orion quickly walked over to his cousin and greeted him. To his surprise, the blond teen looked him up and down with an unusual look on his face. “You look really good in these clothes.”
“Thanks,” said Orion feeling a bit embarrassed, but at the same time very happy to hear such words from his cousin. “So where are we going? I don’t see any club here.”
“That’s because not everyone can get into that club,” answered Malfoy with a smug look on his face. He then grabbed Orion’s wrist and headed down the stairs, to the basement of one of the old tenement houses. The first obstacle was lack of door to the basement. They stood in front of a brick wall and no entrance. For a moment Orion looked oddly at the blond not knowing what they were supposed to do now.
“Is this some kind of a joke?” asked Black and waited for an explanation.
“Honestly Orion. You’ve lived in the wizarding world for almost five years and you’re still surprised by something like this?” asked Draco pointing to the wall.
“You don’t expect me to walk into that wall, right?”
“That’s exactly the way you get to platform 9 ¾ .”
“But there I can run into the wall…here there is no space for that, it’s just…” Orion wanted to protest, but at that moment he felt Draco’s arms wrap around him and pulling him right through the wall.
“That didn’t hurt, did it?” asked the blond laughing.
Orion didn’t have the time to yell at the blond for his sudden actions. He noticed they were now in some strange basement, that looked more like an enormous dungeon in a castle rather than part of a tenement house. The place was rather dimly lit, but he could clearly see something that looked like a well. When he walked closer to it, he inspected it further and it indeed looked like a well.
“So? Shall we go in? I’m sure everyone is already waiting,” said Draco standing next to him.
“You’ve got to be kidding me? I’m not going down there…I can’t even see any water or bottom of it.”
“Because there is no water there. That’s the entrance to the Cave,” explained Malfoy.
“What cave?”
“The club we’re going to is called the Cave, and it’s right down there,” the blond pointed to the inside of the well. Draco could see that the other teen wasn’t convinced about going down, but there was no other way; so he simply sat on the edge of the well and took Orion by the hand to follow him. “Come on, you know I wouldn’t let anything bad happen to you.”
With that said, Black sat next to his cousin and together they slid down into the bottomless well. To his biggest surprise, as soon as they started falling down, some kind of a magical force prevented them from falling and breaking their necks; instead they were slowly floating down until their feet met the ground.
After that, Orion decided he was going to trust Draco in everything and simply followed him down a cave-like tunnel. However this cave had a very decorative, expensive floor and at the end of it were big double door. When they entered through them, Black immediately understood why the club was called the Cave. The place was a huge cave with lots of gemstones sticking out from every wall and ceiling; they were shining with colourful lights making Orion believe they were enchanted in some way. There was a vast dancefloor in the middle of the club with transparent, glass-like floor. Further into the club there was a big round bar made out of stone, glass and gems.
“Let’s go upstairs, we have a table booked there,” suggested Draco and walked towards one of the spiral stairs leading to the upper floor of the club. Just before they were about to get to the seats, the blond took out a small bottle of light green potion in it and leaned to whisper something into Orion’s ear. “Take this and drink it discreetly before you drink anything else. Just make sure no one sees it. Trust me, it’s for your own good…I have one for myself too.”
Without any questions, Orion took the bottle and intended to quickly drink it before they got to their table, but just at that moment he spotted a small group of Slytherins waving to them and Pansy Parkinson walking their way. Black decided it would be better to keep the potion a secret from everyone, even though he didn’t know himself what it was exactly, but he trusted Draco’s judgement. They joined the rest of Malfoy’s housemates at the table. They had a special place booked only for them. Orion couldn’t help but laugh inwardly about how spoiled the pureblood kids were sometimes, but in all honesty, he enjoyed the place and had to admit those were the best seats in the club – there was a perfect view on the dance floor, it was not far from the bar and the entrance to the upper level of the club was reserved only for the VIPs, so they didn’t have to worry about some suspicious people interrupting them.
At first, Orion was quietly sitting at their table, observing everyone interact. He wasn’t surprised that everyone tried to talk with his cousin; after all, the Malfoys were very influential and most of the wizarding families tried to stay on their good side. Black wasn’t even surprised by the fact that there were more girls than only Pansy trying to flirt with Draco, but at the same time he was starting to feel out of place. He wasn’t mad at his cousin, he knew Draco had to maintain good relations with other purebloods, but the fact that no one apart from the blond wanted to talk with him, made Orion feel somewhat bad.
“You don’t seem to be having a very good time,” noticed Theodore Nott, who decided to sit next to him and start a conversation. Orion thought he must have looked really pitiful, that Nott decided to talk with him after about two hours of silence.
“Well…to be honest,…I’m feeling a bit out of place,” said Black and looked around their table. Everyone seemed to be having a really good time – chatting, drinking some bubbling, colourful drinks and dancing.
“I know we all treated you badly, but well, you and Draco seem to have find out a way over it. I hope we can do the same,” offered Theo and stretched out his hand towards Orion. Black didn’t have anything against the Slytherin boy, since he never did anything mean towards him in particular, so he decided it was a good idea to make some new friends and shook hands with him. “Trust me, you’re definitely in the right place. You’re a Black…and I have to say, you’ve changed quite a bit from the moment we started Hogwarts. And I’m not referring to your appearance, obviously.”
“By the way, I wanted to ask Draco about it, but didn’t get a chance,” started Orion. “It might have been just my imagination, but I’ve noticed awfully many Slytherins following me around at Hogwarts. That seemed really…odd.”
“Well, can’t be helped if Malfoy and…someone else asked us to watch your back,” Nott whispered to him, not wanting anyone to hear their conversation. “At some point you might become a target of other students just like our entire house, so it’s better to keep an eye and help you in case you need it.”
“So…you’re saying everyone in your house agreed to do this?” Orion was very surprised by what he heard, but he thought that if it was a request from Draco, then naturally Slytherins would listen to him.
“You’re a Black…and like I said before, you’ve changed so…yes, we all agreed to do that,” assured him Nott and then his gaze landed on Pansy. “Even she agreed, although I’m not going to lie to you…she wasn’t extremely happy about it.”
“She really hates me for some reason, doesn’t she?”
“Right now, I’d say the person she hates is Julien,” laughed Theo. Following his gaze, Orion glanced at the dance floor; there, he saw Julien quite openly flirting with Draco. Immediately, Black felt anger growing inside; he couldn’t quite explain why, but at this particular moment, he really disliked the robes designer from France. Malfoy didn’t seem to appreciate the attention he was getting from Julien, but he still had to be polite to the wizard.
“If that’s the case, then now is my chance to get on her good side,” joked Orion, excused Nott and walked over to Pansy.
At the beginning, the witch was rather cold towards him, but when she noticed Orion didn’t mind her ranting about how absurd Julien’s behaviour was, she quickly warmed up to Black. Soon enough the two of them started joking around, drinking all the drinks the bar offered and dancing. Whenever they danced close to Draco and Julien, Pansy was glancing to check Malfoy’s reaction. Orion didn’t want to admit it, but he was doing the same thing and tried to convince himself he was mad at Julien, because he was keeping Draco away from him and not because he had some deeper feelings for his cousin.
Black didn’t notice how fast the time has passed when he started to get along with other teens; by the time midnight struck, he was the king of the dance floor and the teen witches were almost queuing to dance with him. Orion was happy that he didn’t have to worry about bad treatment from Slytherins anymore, but he was still disappointed that he didn’t get to spend much time with Draco; and there was still the annoying feeling of anger growing whenever he spotted Julien taking all of Malfoy’s attention.
About an hour after midnight, Orion started feeling sick; the world started spinning a bit and he had problems breathing. Not seeing Draco anywhere, he decided to go outside the club and take some fresh air. He sat down in the cave tunnel outside of the club and tried breathing slowly and deeply, but the sickness didn’t go away. He lost track of time and he was starting to feel sleepy.
“What are you doing here? I’ve been looking for you everywhere,” unexpectedly, Draco showed up in the tunnel and kneeled next to him. He looked really worried, which actually made Orion feel a little better to know that the blond cared about him. “Hey Orion, what’s wrong? You don’t look well.”
“I don’t feel well…and I didn’t even drink this yet,” said Orion and took out the bottle with green potion, that he got from Draco earlier that night.
“Merlin’s bollocks, no wonder you’re in such a state then,” commented the blond and helped his cousin stand up. There was no chance to bring Orion back to the club, because he was obviously in no state to party, so the blond decided it was better to help the black haired teen get back home. “Just how many drinks did you have?”
“I don’t know, I lost count when we started drinking with Pansy,” answered Orion and desperately tried to keep walking straight, but Draco had to wrap an arm around his waist to help him.
“Yes, I know. I saw you were having fun with her,” commented Malfoy in a bit strained voice; and Orion could swear he heard a tinge of jealousy in the blond’s voice.
The way back home was kind of a blurry memory in Black’s head. He remembered being held by Draco and following him out of the tunnel and up the well; then through the brick wall and onto the street, where they met earlier. Minutes later they found themselves in front of 12 Grimmauld Place and Orion felt a bit ashamed to go back home in such a state. He didn’t have much time to think about it, because Draco was already knocking on the door. Soon enough the door opened and they were met with Sirius.
“…Is he…?” older Black couldn’t decide if he should laugh or yell at his son, but he found it really difficult to remain serious seeing Orion so helpless and wasted. Sirius saw Draco’s apologetic look and the older wizard simply couldn’t be mad at them; he remembered he was a rebellious teenager himself, so it would be unfair to complain to the teens about one incident like this. “Didn’t you have the anti-alcohol potion?”
“We did. I gave one to him right after we got to the club, but he forgot to drink it, and then…well…he started getting acquainted with Pansy Parkinson,” explained the blond while almost carrying half asleep Orion into the house.
Sirius couldn’t help himself, but snicker when he heard how annoyed Draco sounded when talking about Orion and the young witch. Black remained downstairs, watching the blond literally carrying the black haired teen up the stairs, to his bedroom. “Draco, feel free to stay for the night. I’ll inform Narcissa and Lucius that we’re going to take you to Hogwarts’ Express tomorrow morning.”
“Thank you…uncle,” said Draco feeling a bit weird to call the older Black like that.
When they finally reached the fourth floor and Orion’s new bedroom, young Black was already asleep. Malfoy wanted to make a mean comment about the teen feeling very comfortable being carried by other people, but the moment he lied him down on the bed and saw his peaceful, handsome face, he could only think about how much he love the black haired teen. Since Orion was already asleep, he didn’t want to wake him up; he took of his shoes and covered him with a blanket. He then walked over to the window and noticed a few picture frames standing on the windowsill. There were pictures of Orion and Sirius, Weasleys and Hermione, but then he noticed a photo hidden behind the rest of them – it was a picture of Draco. The teen didn’t remember Orion taking a photo of him, so he must have done that in secret; and yet the picture was here, in Orion’s bedroom; in the nicest picture frame there was.
Thinking about it all made Draco smile. He turned around and watched Orion moving on the bed in his sleep. He was aware that his feelings for Orion were deeper than just friendship, but he couldn’t help it; he loved the other teen and nothing and no one could change it. Sighing heavily, he walked over to the bed and sat next to his cousin. He sat there watching Orion sleep until after about half an hour, the black haired teen woke up and whispered something, but Draco didn’t understand what he was saying.
“What is it?” asked the blond and leaned closer to Orion’s face.
“It was a good party, but I prefer to be here,” said Orion still being half asleep, but his words sounded rather coherent.
“Why? I thought you’d enjoy a wizarding club,” said Draco.
“I did…but here I have you only to myself,” said Orion and without a warning he placed a hand behind the blond’s neck and pulled him closer. At that moment, their lips met, but Orion didn’t seem to mind; on the contrary, he was very much aware of what he was doing.
Draco, on the other hand, was absolutely shocked. For a moment he thought he was dreaming. He didn’t expect things to turn out this way and he was worried that he should break the kiss before Black realises what happened and would be mad at him. However, when he tried to pull away a bit, Orion held him firmly in place and clumsily tried to deepen the kiss. Realising that for the first time, he was finally kissing Orion in real life, Draco decided he didn’t care anymore; he wanted this; he had wanted to kiss the other teen for so long and now it finally was coming true. He wasn’t disappointed even a bit; kissing Orion in real life was way better than anything he had imagined. Even though, Black was a boy and he could feel the firm muscles and a bit rougher skin, the teen’s lips were softer than anything and it only encouraged Draco to keep on going. He placed one hand on Orion’s cheek and put all of his feelings for the teen into this one kiss. He could tell Orion enjoyed the sensation as well. Draco was tempted to take a next step and turn the kiss even more passionate, but he decided it might be too fast for the other teen.
All of a sudden, Black slowly pulled away; but thankfully, he didn’t seem disappointed or offended by the kiss. He smiled to Draco and gave him a short peck on the lips, before he rested on the pillows again.
“I don’t need parties or other people,” Orion whispered again and wrapped his arms around Draco, who lied down just next to him. “I want only you Draco.”
For a moment, Malfoy was almost sure he was dreaming again, but he could clearly feel Orion’s touch, so those words had to be true as well. And yet, he couldn’t believe that he actually heard them coming from young Black. He took a deep breath and gathered all of his courage to start a conversation with his cousin about his feelings. He knew this was the best chance to do it, even if Orion was a bit drunk, but at that moment he saw the other teen fall asleep again.
“Dear Morgana! Don’t do this to me! Don’t kiss me and fall asleep!” the blond whispered even though he felt like shouting. He felt helpless and frustrated, not being able to finally confess to the black haired teen.
He was brought out of his thoughts by Orion cuddling tighter to him and it caused Draco to smile again. He couldn’t help it; the boy, most of the wizarding world called their saviour and looked up to, was right now acting like a cute, little kid. But Malfoy didn’t mind that at all; he’d accept every kind of affection Orion gave him. Feeling a bit tired himself, Draco kissed the other teen’s forehead and lied on the pillow next to him, allowing sleep to take over him.
A/N: So hopefully you enjoyed the chapter and I'll try to finish the next one as soon as possible, but I doubt it's gonna be this week since a lot is going on.
