Ron sat on his couch with a bottle of firewhisky in his hands. He hadbeen truly shaken when he saw Malfoy raise his wand and his furniture all in the air. It took much power to do that. He had underestimated Draco's magic. Then his thoughts turned towards Hermione. That woman had humiliated him in front of his sister and Malfoy. He would never forgive her. The truth was that Ron had always been insecure about his magic. Both Ginny and Hermione were powerful witches but he wasnt as powerful as Harry. He always had that insecurity in him that maybe they thought him as less than themselves. But what Hermione had done this afternoon was beyond what he had expected. She was pregnant with Malfoy's babies and she wanted him to accept them! Like hell he would! Ever since that spell Ron had been feeling angst towards Hermione for making him feel inadequate all the time and then there was her lie about him forcing her to have sex when he was drunk....how convenient was that! Because obviously he would never remember what had happened and she got the chance to put more guilt on him. He felt very angry towards her and what was strange was that he felt no remorse for divorcing her. Their love had diminished o er the years and now he was feeling relief.
However that relief was momentary as he realized that his children would hate him if he kept them away from their mother no matter what the reason was! And he did not want to keep them away because deep down inside he knew that Hermione was an excellent mother. Besides he had no idea how to raise teenagers. He would have to share them with Hermione. He drank the whole bottle and went to his bedroom, stumbling inside the room he saw the empty bed and realised that for twenty years he had rarely ever spent a night without her beside him. He wondered how he would sleep alone? She was a habit and a good one he supposed but now she was gone and so was his life with her. Now he regretted having not spent time doing something he truly wanted to do in his life. He laid down on his bed and cried for his failed relationship as he realised that he had stopped loving Hermione a long time ago and that he had always felt forced to keep their relationship intact. Now with her gone he could explore his own feelings and his own goals for his life.
Draco entered the small but neat office of Gus Thatcher. He had been following Astoria for months now. He was invited politely by Gus and then offered a chair. Draco looked around and wondered why the man had such a small office when he charged such exorbitant fees. As if reading his mind he answered, " It makes my clients more comfortable when the room is cozy and knowing that I am not overcharging them which is true."
Draco smirked and nodded, "Yes, of course you dont charge more Mr. Thatcher, however I need a few details about my wife and no need to deny because my father sent me here. I know you worked for him and I need to know everything about Astoria."
Gus nodded and opened his safe using his wand. He then took out a file and handed it over to Draco, "This file is just a copy and I have the original safely put away. Please go through it and you will know whatever it is that I know including dates and timmmings of Mrs. Malfoy's whereabouts. I am now no longer employed by your father so I wont be able to help you much."
Draco raised his eyebrow to which Gus replied, "I refused to take the oath to not appear in court should there be a loss of life while investigating Mrs. Malfoy. I have to appear as a witness if there is a murder and your father wanted me to take a unbreakable vow to never say a thing if it is against your interests. I cannot do that because it it is against the law and my profession."
Draco hmmed and then spoke, "I completely understand your point of view Mr. Thatcher but I want to hire you now. Find my wife and you will be rewarded handsomely. I dont need you to take a vow just make sure nobody knows about my dealings with Hermione and Astoria's little stunt.I am sure that she was upto some mischief and I simply need to know why? Also if you can find anything that will make it easier for me to divorce her then I can assure you that you will be well compensated for your efforts. Also do not tell my father that you are still on this case. I trust you Mr. Thatcher but try and betray me and you will regret it for your life. Before I leave, your immediate assignment would be to locate Astoria and Dr. Thorne. He had relatives in London. It should not be hard for you to find him. Report to me by the weekend. Here is your fees." Getting up Draco put down a heavy bag of gaellons in front of a wide eyed Gus who simply nodded and took the money.
Cho said goodbye to her last patient and got ready to go home. As she washed herhands and wiped them on the towel she found Adrian Pucey standing by the doormof her room. He grinned at her stunned face, " Sorry, couldnt resist to surprise you. Are you busy?" Cho rolled her eyes and replied, "You very well know that was my last patient Andy and yes I am free now. So tell me how come you suddenly remembered your therapist? Adrian smiled and spoke, "Its a personal matter and I need your help to decide what I should do. I came to you because you helped me deal with my depression after the war. I cannot tell you who that person is but I can tell you what they are going through." Cho nodded and gestured him to sit down. She had been his healer and knew Adrian was a sensitive man. She worried about him as he did not have a strong will. Anybody could take advantage of his sympathetic nature.
"She was also affected by the war. She was in love with a man who, honestly, does not deserve her love. She lost him and was devastated. She got married to the family whom she thinks is responsible for her lover's death and has been planning to hurt them all through many years. They trust her completely but she will destroy them one way or another. I dont know how to stop her and tell her that she has been wasting her life till now. She is in a very fragile state of mind and I am scared that telling the truth might push her over. What should I do Cho?"
Cho thought for a minute before asking, " Can you get her to see a therapist?" Adrian shook his head. Then Cho continued, "In that case the best thing to do would be to bring the therapist to her. Telling her the harsh truth might hurt her but if we can make her realise her mistake then she would stop herself." Adrian agreed, " You are right, so can you come to meet her? You will be shocked but I know how strict you are about doctor patient privilege so I am trusting you with her. Please Cho, she really needs you. I dont want her to suffer more than she already is. I want to save her before it is too late." His earnest plea touched Cho who smiled and agreed to go with him to meet his friend.
Draco caught her hair with his left hand and pulled her towards him deepening the kiss. He felt her slips melting against his. She was the sweetest thing he had tasted till now. Her vanilla perfume filled his nostrils as he left her lips to kiss her neck. He travelled down to kiss her collar bone and then to her left breast.
