The Grindelwald Legacy
Chapter 24
Lucy was pleased to discover Harry and Hermione both grew up amongst muggles, she thought she was the only one here that found magic strange. She was still behind because they started Hogwarts when they reached eleven, not sixteen like her.
When the meeting finally ended and they were allowed to go in the kitchen for food, Lucy snatched a fistful of sandwiches and made a bee line for the twins.
“You two are right pillocks do you know that.” She stated once she cornered them.
“Yeah we know, but we’re lovely with it. How did you do that thing, you know, make us stop like that?”
“I don’t know, it just kind of happened.” Lucy lied. She wasn’t quite ready to let everyone know about her mind magic yet. She was just starting to make new friends and didn’t want to mess things up.
“Well when you figure it out let us know. It was brilliant.”
“You think so?” Lucy was surprised at their reaction, thinking they would think her a freak or something. Plenty of her friends in the past thought her a bit of an oddity, though most of them were so used to strange things happening around Lucy they mostly ignored it.
When Sirius and Remus joined the conversation Lucy couldn’t help flirting a little with the darker haired Sirius.
Surprised but flattered, Sirius was perfectly happy to go along with it until Remus caught on and steered his friend away.
So Lucy was left with the twins. Not that she minded too much, if they were anything like Charlie, she wasn’t about to complain. She accepted long ago that she had a very high sex drive and saw nothing wrong in feeding that drive.
It didn’t take long for the twins to twig either and both were keen to help meet Lucy’s needs.
“You know we have our own room here.”
“Right up on the top floor.”
“No one else shares that floor with us.”
“We never get disturbed up there.” the young men commented.
Lucy smiled slyly, winking at Fred. Or was it George. She wasn’t bothered which was which. “Sounds good. you wanna show me.”
They were just about to slip through the kitchen door thinking no one had spotted them, when a long fingered hand once again shot out of nowhere and grabbed Lucy by the hand.
“Where do you think you are going?” Severus asked, glowering down at her fiercely.
“Ow, get off me. Why do you keep doing that?”
Knowing the game was up, Fred and George raced up the stairs. It was clear the professor was keeping an eye on Lucy and they were not about to argue with the wizard. He was dangerous.
“We are leaving, collect your cloak, and your grandmothers while you are at it.” He let her go with a shove, earning himself a scowl from the disgruntled girl. He’d been watching her covertly since she re entered the kitchen and knew exactly what she was about. Well it wasn’t going to happen while he was present that was for sure. What he could not understand was why he gave a damn, the girl was an obnoxious little chit at best, though she was rather amusing at times. He found her habit of back chatting extremely irksome, especially when directed at him, at the same time admiring her nerve and spirit.
Lucy laid in bed next morning feeling frustrated as hell. She been on a firm promise with the Weasley twins until Severus interfered. Her gran and Professor Dumbledore both seemed surprised when Lucy brought her grans cloak and said she was ready to go. It was obvious Severus lied to her, but why? What difference did it make to him who she screwed? Unless… nah, not a chance.
“Gran can I go back to that house and visit for a bit? There’s no one round here my age and Hermione and Harry and the others said they were staying there for the rest of the summer.”
Not today Lucy, you still have a lot of revision to do and I suggest you get to it. You’ll be starting potions tutoring in the morning.”
Lucy groaned. That meant she’d be stuck in a classroom with Severus. No, Professor Snape. She better try and remember his title if she was going to be spending her time with him. She doubted he’d take it too well if she called him ‘young Severus’, especially if it was just the two of them.
Lucy spent most of Sunday pouring over potions textbooks. After tea Hetty took her down to the basement and they went over the stock of potion ingredients. Hetty made her identify every one, giving it’s common and Latin name. Lucy had to write down the correct way to chop, grind, pulverise and slice each item, then list the various potions they were used for. When she finally flopped into bed she was asleep in minutes.
Severus’ mood on Monday morning was mixed. He despised the fact he had to tutor the girl on what was supposed to be his own time. Likewise he looked forward to ordering her about and demeaning her at every opportunity. He hated the fact that she had an effect on him, yet enjoyed her company in a warped, able to control her, kind of way. She challenged his authority which was not a good thing, and he had no intention of letting her get away with that. At the same time he admired her spirit, and he found himself warming to the challenge of breaking that spirit. Well perhaps not breaking it, taming might be a better term. She better pay attention to his instructions, he would not relax his rules just because her instruction was remedial.
Maxi accompanied Lucy as far as the school gates, then woofed and ran home as soon as he caught sight of the caretaker.
As usual she ignored him, bobbing her head to her music, and as usual Filch walked her to the castle door, complaining constantly about having to open the gates for wayward students who had no business coming to school in the middle of the summer holidays.
She was early today, the Headmaster told her she was always welcome to join them for breakfast and her gran planned on visiting her sister in a place called Godricks Hollow.
Lucy thought that was cool because it meant she had an aunt too.
“Will I get to meet her sometime gran?”
“I hope so, I haven’t spoken with Batilda in many years. Today I intend to rectify that situation, as well as tell her about you.”
She entered the Great Hall and was greeted by the staff, then introduced to Madam Hooch who, she was told, taught broom riding lessons.
“I haven’t got a broom.”
“The school provides brooms for you to learn on.” Hooch told her.
“Once Professor Snape has brought you up to par on your potions, transfiguration is next on the agenda. You’ll soon catch up if you do exactly as I tell you.” Professor Macgonagall told her kindly.
At the mention of his name, Lucy met the black eyes of Severus Snape and shivered slightly. He’d been looking at her already, a rather intense, severe expression on his face.
“If you are finished Miss Grindelwald. Your lessons are about to begin.” Severus stood and walked from the hall, not waiting to see if she followed him.
Madam Hooch gave her a nudge. “It’s not a good idea to keep him waiting.” She whispered.
Lucy grabbed her bag and dashed off to catch him up.
