Chapter Twenty-four
It was with absolute joy that they found out they were not going to be parents. At least not yet, Hermione thought as she looked over to a very relieved looking Severus Snape.
“I know why I don’t want to be a parent now, but why don’t you want to be a parent ever?”
He looked over to her, studying her for a moment. “My family life wasn’t what the muggles would refer to as a Norman Rockwell existence. My father…” He pursed his lips. “He was a drunk and a bully and made life a nightmare for my mother and myself. My mother, though a victim as well, wasn’t what anyone would call a loving woman. She kept me in used oversized robes because she saw no use to buy new ones. Eileen Prince was a cold, bitter woman with a very tight grip on the one and only thing she could control in the house—the pocket book. She ruled over it with an iron fist.” He took up her hand, squeezing it just so.
“Did your mother teach you anything about potions?” she asked him quietly.
“No.”
“Did your father?”
At this Severus snorted. “Not likely! He was a muggle.”
Moving closer to him, she whispered, “And yet you are a potions master?” He looked in shock into her eyes. “Will wonders ever cease?”
He smiled as she kissed his cheek. “So perhaps I’ve been too hasty. One day we might be decent parents.”
“Yes, one day we might at that,” she murmured. “And until that glorious day, charms and potions it is.” She stood up and held her hand out to him. “Come on. There’s something I’ve been planning on showing you.”
“What?” he asked as he took up her hand and the two walked out of the medical ward.
“My NEWTs project in charms,” she told him quietly. “I know you usually don’t enjoy this kind of thing, but I wanted to know if I was at least on the right track.”

Severus stood in the middle of what was supposed to be a normal room within Hogwarts. Yet there he was standing in sugar white sands, feeling a balmy ocean breeze against his face, and smelling the surf that he could hear in the distance.
“How were you able to do this?” he whispered, turning to face her.
Smiling she said, “The charms are the sand and this small cabana...” She went inside of it, tossing off her shoes. “The wind is created magically enhanced muggle fans, the sounds a magical recording, and the ocean smells are scented oils.” Hermione tossed off her robes and soon was walking over to him. “I hope you don’t mind that I have it set for night. I sunburn easily.”
“I don’t mind in the least,” he growled, as he traced his knuckle down her breastbone to the cord of the bikini she was wearing. “Are you trying to tell me something?”
“No,” she said calmly. “Wait a moment, I think maybe I am.”
“And that would be?”
“Other than strip?” she enquired. “I would have to say that the moment we have the time, I would love to be able to go to a tiny island just the two of us. But until then, can we practice here?”
His hand reached around and slowly undid her top, letting it fall to the ground. “Practice, as they say, makes perfect.”
“Perfection is supposed to be unattainable, but I’m sure we’ll come as close as possible.”
His smile turned. “I love a challenge.”
Severus was lowering his mouth towards hers when he heard, “MERLIN!”
The dark wizard spun around, wand drawn only to find a shocked looking Harry Potter. Luna Lovegood who was standing next to him, only smiled and waved at Hermione who was covering herself up with Severus’s black robes.
“I told you,” Hermione said tightly. “That unless the school was about to be eaten by a fire breathing dragon or worse, not to come here, Luna!”
“I know,” she said sounding apologetic. “Harry here wanted to speak to you and was rather insistent that I bring him to you. I even told him that I was in the middle of a very important experiment, but he was rather…” She looked at Harry. “Well, you know how he can be, Hermione.”
“Yes, I do,” Hermione answered, but then hissed to Severus. “Oh for the love of Merlin, it’s one thing not to be able to finish a meal without interruption, but I will not have our personal life torn apart as well.” She reached behind her and managed to cover herself up with a large beach towel. “Get out of here, Harry.”
“But I…” Luna gave a sigh as she grabbed his ear and yanked him out of the room.
Severus turned to face Hermione to see tears dripping down her face. “What’s the matter?”
“I-I just wanted this moment to be so perfect and-and I only told her to get me if there was an emergency! I didn’t think he would drag her here and…”
“Shh,” he murmured, wiping away the tears. “I won’t lie to you and tell you that this won’t happen again. Between the both of us, I’m certain at one time or another we will be interrupted…”
“I know,” she whispered.
Confused he asked, “Then what has you so upset?”
“He saw my breasts!”
He was quiet for a moment, thinking it over. “Do you want me to blind him?”
That only had her trying to smother a giggle. “No. It’s just embarrassing is all, but I’m sure I’ll recover.” She dropped her towel, moving all the closer to him.
“You mean to say that Potter never…”
She snorted. “No, not in a million years would he ever come close. Merlin, Ron didn’t even see them and I was more intimate with him.” She frowned as she recalled how their one and only time together went. “He was in too much of a hurry to care about doing more than tuning them like a radio.”
He stopped and looked at her in shock. “You mean to say that I am the first man to have seen you completely naked?”
“Other than the doctor that helped my mother give birth to me, yes, you are,” she answered, slipping her arms around him. “Severus, why are you smiling?”
“I only just realized something,” he purred as his own clothes vanished from his body.
“What’s that?” she asked quietly.
“You’re mine,” he breathed. “Completely mine.”
“It took you hearing that to know it?” she asked him.
When he blushed saying nothing, Hermione smiled as she stood on his feet. And with her mouth but a hairs breath away from his lips she sighed, “Silly wizard, I knew that ages ago.”

It's time for the Review Sing-A-Long! The answer to the last one was "Unpretty" by TLC (a personal favorite of mine). Cookie's go out to LadyMalfoy, Tenar10r, use2b2t2, Tara, Arrabella, Pegg, and LilyRiddle. Chocolate chips go out to Samantha for knowing the song, but not the group. If I missed you, I'm sorry.
Time for the next song! "Where does it review from here? Is it down to the lake I fear?" Here's your hint, this song was big in the 1980's as part of the New Wave movement. There you go. Everyone have a great day.
