When he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada after killing Voldemort so that he could easily get lost in the hustle and bustle of the crowds, Harry never thought that he would find his calling.
Standing in the doorway to his hotel room, Harry could only stare at shock at the body on the floor. It was easy to tell that whoever it was was dead because of the pool of blood under the body and the large knife sticking out of it.
Hearing the bellhop behind him give a scream, Harry quickly backed out of the room, dropping his bags to the floor. It wasn't that he was seeing a dead body, it was the fact that it was in his temporary housing until he could find a house.
As the bellhop started to freak out, constantly repeating the same sentence, “Oh god, oh god, oh god.” Harry turned around and led the girl out of his room.
“Look calm down. We need to call someone about this.” Harry said, forcing the girl to look him in the eyes.
“Um I'll go call the police.” She said, paling before she turned and rushed down the stairs, avoiding the elevator.
Leaning against the wall, Harry stared into the room, at the dead body. He stood like that as the police arrived and questioned him and he stood there as the Crime Scene Investigators arrived and started 'processing' the scene.
As he watched, he became intrigued with what they were doing. He wanted to learn about it.
When he was eventually cleared of having anything to do with the crime, since he'd been on the plane when the murder happened, he asked the CSI that had spent most time questioning him why he was a CSI.
All the spiky, blond haired CSI, Greg, responded with was, “Someone I look up to says it's 'because the dead can't speak for themselves'. And I like to add that they may be dead, but they still need someone to defend them.”
As he left, Harry grinning and knew that's what he needed to be doing with his life. It may not be what the Wizarding world wanted to see him become, but it was what he felt he wanted to do. It was his calling.
