Harry had returned to his rooms the next night. It was a relaxing evening for the two of them. Severus finished grading his forth year assignments and Harry had caught up on the work he missed while he spent the full moon with his Sire and wolves. Afterwards, Harry fed to both of their enjoyment. Severus was glad for the quiet reprieve. He knew it would not last, so would enjoy it the best he could.
The following morning, Severus waited until Harry was asleep for the day before heading to the Great Hall for breakfast. He ignored the students and professors as he sat at his normal spot at the staff table. Coffee came first. Always.
“How are you this morning, Severus?” Minerva at least waited until he had his first sip of the black life giving substance.
Severus took note of the clear sky showing through the ceiling. It would be another sunny, yet cold, day at Hogwarts. “Dreadful.”
Minerva chuckled at him. “Finish your coffee you grump.”
He did. It was only afterwards that he served himself breakfast. Minerva eyed his plate with blatant curiosity.
“Hungry, Severus?”
Severus gave her a look before noticing that he had added eggs and sausages to his plate without really thinking about it. He normally only had a couple pieces of toast as he was not big on breakfast. Frequent blood donations were making him crave the extra protein sources. Both of them were going to have to cut back some.
“Is that a crime, Minerva?”
The older witch huffed. “Of course not. It is simply not your normal.” She got a mischievous glint in her eyes. “Must have had a busy night to work up such an appetite.”
Severus choked on his bite of egg. He sent a glare toward the sniggering witch who did not look the least bit ashamed. “Your Gryffindors have rubbed off on you.”
“Nonsense.” Minerva waved him off with a smirk.
Severus decided to leave things well alone and turned back to his breakfast. He did notice Albus watching with that annoying twinkle in his eyes and an amused smile. Damn them both.
Two bites later Remus entered the Great Hall. Severus was unsurprised, seeing as he already knew the man recovered faster since merging with his wolf. He was surprised to see his shadow trotting faithfully beside the DADA professor like normal. The students they passed were very happy to see the dog. Many gave him pets and scratches which the dog soaked in with happy wags of his tail.
Severus raised an eyebrow at Remus as he got to the staff table. “I see the mutt has recovered nicely.” He did not miss Albus giving them questioning looks as well. Seems they had not informed the Headmaster of this event.
Remus took his place at the table serving himself his own breakfast and passing food to Padfoot. “Interesting story.” Remus leaned over to talk to Albus. “I can meet with you after dinner tonight if that is okay, Headmaster?”
Albus nodded. “That would be fine, Remus.”
“Thank you for covering my classes yesterday, Severus. You are welcome to join our meeting this evening if you wish.” Remus raised a brow when he noticed the food on Severus’ plate. “Hungry?” He asked with a knowing smirk.
Severus growled and glared. “What is every ones interest with what I am eating? Can’t a man change things up every once and a while?”
Padfoot snorted from under the table. Remus coughed to cover his laugh but the wide grin on his face gave him away. Minerva was chuckling under her breath. Even Albus had a smile of amusement gracing his features while his eyes twinkled brightly.
Severus growled under his breath before standing and storming out of the Great Hall.
“Oh dear.” Minerva said. “Perhaps we should not have teased him so much.”
“I’m sure he is fine, Minerva.” Albus said calmly. “Dobby.”
“The Headmaster wishes something of Dobby, Sir?”
“Could you take Professor Snape’s plate to his office? Please be sure he eats.”
“Oh, yes, Headmaster, Sir. Dobby will make sure the Professor eats. He will need to so he can keep up his strength for Master Harry.” The house elf said innocently, bowing low, before carrying out the request.
Remus winced but did not comment. He was unsure if anyone other than them knew Severus was feeding Harry.
A few moments later Albus stood. “I do believe tonights meeting will be quite informative, gentlemen. Until then.”
Remus watched him leave ignoring Minerva’s questioning looks. If Albus was not aware before he most likely suspected now. He glanced down at Padfoot. “Shall we?”
The dog nodded. There were classes to teach between now and the meeting. They would focus on those for now.

“How long have you been feeding Harry, Severus?”
Albus looked calmly at Severus his hands clasped together under his chin. He gave nothing away.
Severus kept his head held high. “Since the start of the year. Edge manipulated the situation.” He kept his own face passive.
Albus nodded as though he expected as much. “Yes, Edge does have a way of controlling things to his favor.”
They had gathered in the Headmasters office after dinner as planned. Remus and Sirius had already explained their own situation. Sirius had successfully bonded with Edge before things got too out of hand concerning the wolf and Padfoot. Edge would now be helping Sirius control both canines instead of just one. Even Severus had to admit that having both forms would give them an advantage. No one needed to know Sirius had been turned besides them. Normally, most would consider it a hindrance, yet the bond with Edge changed everything.
Albus had then turned his attention to Severus.
“The risk involved is quite high. Are you sure…”
“I am perfectly aware of the risks, Albus. I have prepared myself to the best of my ability.” Severus would not cower to the old mans stare and kept his mind perfectly blocked and secluded.
The two men stared at each other for several long minutes. Remus and Sirius sat quietly looking back and forth between the two.
“Gentlemen.” Albus spoke quietly. His voice held a note that said his next words were to be listened to without question. “Leave us.”
The two werewolves looked at each other nervously and stood. Sirius walked to the door but Remus paused unsure. Severus being bonded to Harry made Severus his to protect as well.
“Albus…”
“We will be perfectly fine, Remus. Just need to discuss a few things and the fewer people to know about them the better. I am sure you understand.” Albus sounded calming and reasonable.
It made Remus’ wolf senses go on alert. Sirius tensed a little as well where he waited by the door. Remus made eye contact with Severus waiting for his response. Severus nodded to the wolf aware of the old man watching every interaction between them with a keen eye.
Nothing was said for a few moments after the werewolves left the office. Severus forced himself not to fidget as Albus seemed to stare him down. He was unconcerned with the man getting into his mind. His barriers were strong and stable.
“Your position is vital to winning this war. I’m sure I do not need to impress upon you the seriousness of maintaining it.”
Severus resisted the urge to growl at the man. “I assure you, Albus, I am aware of what is at stake. I am also aware that Potter must be fed adequately or he will be a sitting duck should the Dark Lord decide to stop biding his time.”
Albus closed his eyes briefly in thought. “You are correct. I can arrange for Harry to feed from someone else.”
“That will not be necessary.”
“The risk is too high…”
“As if placing him with me in the first place created no risk?” Severus had to clench his teeth against the anxiety he was feeling at Harry being taken from him. The thought of Harry sinking his fangs into anyone else made his blood boil. He wanted to blame it completely on the bond but wasn’t that obtuse. “The risk with him feeding is no higher than him already being in my rooms in the first place.”
The Headmaster lowered his hands to rest on top his desk. “What if he fed just before you were called for a meeting?”
“He doesn’t take enough for that to be an issue.” Not anymore at least. Harry was developing rather fast for a vampire so young. Even Edge had commented on it on more than one occasion. Severus couldn’t help the pride he felt knowing that he was responsible.
A pale eyebrow was raised. “He is young. Young vampires always take more than older vampires.”
Severus resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Albus would not appreciate the act. “I am aware of that. Once again; however, Potter is proving to be the exception to the rules.” He felt no desire to inform Albus of the information Edge had shared with him over the holidays. Not unless the man specifically asked.
“Severus…”
“I know the risks. I, of all people, should be perfectly aware of them after all. This is my life. I have prepared for every risk there possibly is.”
Albus was silent. “It surprises me Severus that you are fighting against me finding Harry another donor.” He paused. Those blue eyes seemed to bare right into Severus’s soul. “Have you come to care for the boy after all?”
Severus felt trapped. His heart pounded in his chest. Thankfully his shields prevented anything from showing on his face. “Edge would not allow you to have Harry removed from my care.” He was grasping at this point, he knew, and cursed his luck. It was then he realized his mistake. Damn it. He would have to do better in front of the Dark Lord.
“This is true.” Albus nodded. A twinkle appeared in his eyes. “And you have answered my question.” The old man sighed leaning back in his chair. “Do be careful, my boy. I am unsure of the depths you have gotten yourself into, but I do believe it to be an overall good thing for you. Guard it well, for to lose something such as this, is to lose everything.”

Harry sat staring at the other person sitting in the chair across from him. How did he not see this before? It was so obvious. He could hear Hermione chastising him for not paying better attention to the clues.
Silver had written to him shortly after they returned to Hogwarts. The letter had been short simply asking to meet with him. It had been the first time either had written to the other. Harry had been tempted to ignore the message, but the use of his panther forms name made him believe the authenticity of the writer. Only his closest circle knew of Shadow. He had agreed to the meeting and allowed Silver to pick the place. The fact that Silver was a Slytherin and called Severus by his name should have been clue number 1 and number 2. The fact that Silver had replied that he would meet Harry in the Potions Masters rooms should have been the final flashing neon clue.
“Malfoy.”
He had hid when the blonde first came in. Of course Severus would allow Draco access to his rooms. He was the mans godson after all. Harry had been shocked when Draco had softly whispered ‘Shadow’ into the room. It had taken him a moment to process before he had slowly moved back to the rug in front of the fireplace. Draco had moved to sit in the chair when Harry had said nothing and only continued to stare at him.
Draco winced and looked down. “Maybe I should have done this a different way.”
Harry shook his head. “No, it’s okay.” Harry shrugged. “Honestly, I should have known sooner. This should not be a surprise all things considered.”
“I always knew you were slow.” Draco sent a hesitant smirk in Harry’s direction. It was clear he was trying but was unsure how to proceed. Harry figured he hadn’t thought further than revealing himself.
Harry rolled his eyes but sent back a smirk of his own. “Watch it ferret face. I thought we were supposed to be making friends.”
Draco was silent and glared at the vampire until Harry winked at him. He relaxed significantly. “Thanks, Potter. I needed this.”
“You can call me Harry if you’d like.”
Draco nodded. “Call me Draco then.”
Harry leaned back on his hands stretching out his legs on the carpet. “Why meet now? And in Severus’ chambers of all places? You haven’t stopped by before.”
“I have. You were never here. Possibly with your friends or with other professors I’m assuming.” Draco shrugged. “I don’t stop by often anyway.”
Draco sighed turning to stare into the flames of the merrily crackling fire. “I…I don’t want to do this anymore. Honestly, I have no idea what to do. I really think I just needed someone safe to talk to. That isn’t Severus, I mean.”
“Severus can be hard to talk to.” Draco didn’t respond to Harry; just kept staring into the fire. Harry noted his eyes looked sad and lost. “You took a risk in revealing yourself, you know. I could have rejected you.”
“You could have.” Grey eyes turned back to him. “You seemed to really like Silver despite all the little clues I handed you. Guess I gave you too much credit.”
Harry laughed watching as Draco’s expression turned confused. “You really did. Hermione is always fussing at me to pay more attention to details.” Harry titled his head. “I do pay attention. I usually just end up focusing on other things and forget the things that are not important in the moment. It always ends up biting me in the ass.”
“Clearly.” Draco sat back more comfortably in the chair crossing one leg over the other. He turned back to looking at the fire. “I can’t leave my family…and yet…I don’t want to join him either.”
Harry looked deep into the fire beside him deep in thought. He felt his heart go out to the blonde. It was obvious that Draco was loyal to his family. Most people would be Harry supposed. It was also clear the Draco was learning and seeing things that did not sit right with his conscious. He was slowly gaining a mind of his own and not just following his father like a programed robot. Draco would frequently vent his frustrations and confusion as Silver.
“I can’t decide for you.” Harry whispered. “No one can.” He looked back to Draco who was still staring into the fire like it held all the answers he was searching for. “Revealing yourself to me could be taken as a declaration of sides though.”
Draco was silent a moment. “You’re right. I guess I’m too afraid to say it outright.”
“Just doing that is a big step.” Harry smiled softly at the blonde Slytherin when he looked over. It took a moment but Draco eventually smiled back.
Severus stormed into his private chambers allowing the door to fall shut behind him with a slam. Both boys jumped and looked to the professor with wide eyes.
“Damn that old man.” Severus was clearly in a snit as he grumbled obscenities under his breath.
“Um…Severus?”
Severus paused halfway to his bedroom to look at Harry sitting in front of the fire like normal. The blonde sitting with him was not a normal appearance.
“What are you doing here?” Dark eyes were confused even as his voice came out a sharp bite.
Draco answered his voice hesitant. “I wanted to meet with him. Not as Silver.”
Severus narrowed his eyes. “You’ve decided then.” It was not a question. Severus closed his eyes and pinched the bridge of his nose.
Harry noticed he looked tired. “Meeting go okay?”
“Fine.” Severus did not look at them as he turned away. “Curfew in thirty, Draco. I expect you to be back in your common room by then.” He disappeared into the bedroom with a sharp click of the door.
Harry and Draco looked at each other with bemused expressions.
“Guess I better get going then.” Draco slowly stated. Thirty minutes was more than enough time for him to return to the Slytherin common but it seemed wise not to push it too close.
“Guess so.”
Harry stood with Draco. Draco stopped at the door to turn to look at Harry. “Careful with that.” He jerked his head in the direction of the bedroom door. It was clear to both of them that Severus was not a force to take lightly this evening. Whatever had happened with Dumbledore had put the man in a mood.
Harry nodded. “I think I can handle it.”
“I don’t even want to know.” Draco shook his head and left. The door closed a lot more softly than it had closed before.
Harry took a deep breath. He wondered what had happened to get Severus so riled. The meeting was just supposed to be informational, most of which Severus pretty much knew from being connected with him during the moon. That was what he thought, anyway. Apparently, that was not the case.
Gently, Harry reached out to test how receptive Severus would be to company. He used the same gentle brush against the spy’s mind that he found worked best for getting the mans attention without his ire. There was mild irritation but Severus bid him on into the room before giving Harry a gentle mental push away. Severus was going to keep everything closed tight then, which meant he was most likely not going to be willingly to discuss what happened.
Harry made his way into the bedroom anyway. He just walked through the door as Severus was leaving the adjourned bathroom. Severus was calling it an early night apparently. The man had already changed into his pajamas. He spared a quick glance for Harry as he made himself comfortable in his bed.
“Early night I take it?”
Severus sent him a glare. “If you are going to state the obvious you can leave.” He found his bookmark and opened his current book to where he had last left it.
Harry chuckled softly under his breath. He decided to make himself comfortable, left to his room to change before heading back, and climbed into the bed beside the moody professor. Dark eyes never left the words on the pages.
“Read to me?”
“No.”
Harry scooted closer leaning his head on a lean shoulder. “Please?”
Severus huffed looking at Harry. “I would like to read in peace. Perhaps you should find something else to entertain yourself with. Maybe a book of your own?”
Harry sat back and sighed as Severus returned his attention back to the book in his hands. Seemed Severus was not willing to talk at all tonight. Just what happened during that meeting? Severus had been reasonably calm when he had stopped in just after dinner before heading up to the Headmasters office. Harry didn’t want to be closed out again. He felt unreasonably irritated.
Harry lent close again. Breathing deeply he nuzzled at Severus’ neck. The man smelled so good. He felt his mouth water.
“You are not feeding tonight.”
Harry groaned. He licked the skin of his neck. It was salty on his tongue. He could taste just a hint of the blood rushing underneath.
Severus moved just out of reach. Harry growled softly as he felt a quick and harsh force in his mind; almost like when the man would swat him over the head. It was clearly a warning. “I said no.”
“I’m not.” Harry glared at the man meeting dark orbs with his own golden green. To prove it he opened his mouth to show his fangs had not grown in. “I’m not the least bit hungry tonight.” He said before leaning over the man again to nuzzle and lick at his collar bone. It was true. He wasn’t craving blood but he did have a sudden desire for other things. Harry wanted Severus to focus on him.
Severus shivered when Harry ran a cool tongue into the dip of his collar bone. “Bloody teenager.” He grumbled. The book he was reading was set aside so he could wrap them around the cool body now practically sitting in his lap.
Harry gave him a wicked smirk. “You grumble and yet you pull me closer instead of pushing me away.”
“Shut up.” Warm lips captured his own, preventing any further comments.
Severus shivered at the cool tongue ghosting over his lips. Harry let out a purr like sound, nosing at his chin before paying attention to his neck. Licks and nips followed down along his prominent collar bone. Brave fingers worked at the top button of his top.
“Getting brave are we?”
Harry hummed and continued his quest.
Severus rested his head back against the headboard. He couldn’t deny that he was curious how far Harry was going to take things. This was only the second time anything had been started without feeding being on the agenda. Severus was sure he would be nibbled on eventually but was unsure as to whether he would care at the point or not. Teeth nipped at one of his nipples casing him to hiss as a bolt a pleasure raced down his spine. Harry wore a cheeky grin before doing it again and moving to the other one. Severus gripped harshly of the youngers hips. His teeth ground together to prevent any sounds from escaping. He watched intently as the dark haired vampire continued further down his abdomen. Cool hands released his grip and rested his hands on the sheets. A tongue sneaked under the waistband of his trousers resulting in his hips bucking up and himself to twitch harshly.
“Harry…”
Gold rimmed eyes met his own dark ones. The pupils were blown wide with arousal. There was not a hint of hesitance in the expression as fingers dipped under his trousers and pants. Severus swallowed thickly. Harry moved his hands no further than gripping the waistband. He did move his head down to run his tongue along the skin just along the band. Abdominal muscles contracted and Severus let a moan slip from between his lips. Was he really going to let Harry do this? Another swipe of the tongue; this time going in the other direction across his skin. The tips of dark soft hair tickled across his belly. Fuck. Why did he bother to fight this anymore?
Harry kept his eyes on his professor. Those dark eyes bore into him as they watched. He wanted to taste the man so bad his mouth watered at the thought. Harry ran his tongue along his teeth still a bit surprised his fangs had not made an appearance. He had told the truth earlier when he told Severus he didn’t want to feed. Guess his vampire side was of the same conclusion.
“Severus.” He whispered the mans name as seductively as he could.
It must have worked because a moan left those thin lips as hips raised from the bed. Harry took the invitation for what it was and quickly removed the offending garments. He swallowed at the sight the older man created. His lower half was completely naked and only his undone pajama top covered his arms. There was pale skin lightly littered with various scars telling the story of the mans life. Severus was tense as he rested against the pillows. Harry gave a soft smile hoping to help him relax some. Severus rolled his eyes but made no comment.
Harry chuckled under his breath. Somethings about the man would never change it seemed. He leaned over to crawl his way up to kiss the man deeply. Severus returned the kiss with a groan his hands coming up to run across his back under his own night shirt. Harry removed those hands placing them back on the bed.
“I want to touch you.”
“Then what are you waiting for, brat.”
Harry smiled. There once was a time the name would be snarled at him in disgust. Now it held a small amount of care almost like a pet name would have. That was if Severus even used pet names.
Harry ran his hands over pale skin. He could just see and feel ribs and hipbones under the soft skin. He ran his fingertips over the taunt abdomen watching as the muscles contracted under his touch. Harrys eyes rested on the appendage resting between the mans thighs and reaching upward. It was just as pale was the rest of the man creating great contrast against dark hair. It pulsed under his stare.
“Did your Gryffindor courage escape you?”
Seems Severus’ patience was wearing out.
Harry shook his head. He allowed his fingers to ghost over the perfect bite scar that rested on the mans thigh. His chest filled with warmth and pride seeing the bite. Severus was his.
Severus held back a moan as Harry caressed his bite scar but only just. It tingled and warmed under Harrys touch. Unlike the Dark Mark on his arm; however, it did not burn or create dread that would settle deep within the pit of his stomach. On the contrary, it made him feel warm and, dare he say, loved. He shied away from the emotion. Severus made to move, to run, but Harry was quicker.
Strong hands held his hips down and a cool tongue ran the length of him. Severus fell back with a choked groan. Before he could get out a word, he was engulfed in a coolness he was unfamiliar with. He had had one lover who enjoyed ice play in the past but Severus never took to it himself. This felt vastly different from that experience. Severus had no words for what he was feeling.
Harry, being a vampire, was naturally cooler than him. He had not given thought to what Harry’s mouth would feel like should this event take place. Severus moaned as he clutched at the sheets. The coolness surrounding him was like nothing he had felt before. The nimble tongue encircling him was so cool against his own heat. Instead of cooling him, though, his blood was heated under his skin. It took all the control he had to prevent himself from gripping handfuls of that dark hair and thrusting up into that mouth.
Severus cursed when the tip of that sinful tongue started creating patterns over the tip of him. How had the young vampire never done this before? Severus felt ready to self-destruct. He ran a hand through the messy locks to grab Harry’s attention. Harry cut those golden eyes up at him never moving away from his task. Severus clenched his hand into a fist and shut his eyes tight against the sight. He took deep breaths hoping to calm down.
Severus.
Fuck. Severus’ eyes flew open at the gentle caress of his mind by Harry. Golden eyes met his through dark lashes.
Let go for me. Please.
It was the please that did him in.
Severus stared at the ceiling as he tried to get his breath back. He felt Harry unclasp his hand from his hair before lacing those cool fingers through his own. Of course he grumbled and tried to take them back but Harry refused. Harry nuzzled close. Severus looked down at the mop of hair resting on his shoulder.
“Harry…”
“I’m good, Severus.” Harry didn’t look at him.
Severus huffed at him before rolling enough to pin the younger beneath him. Harry blinked up at him. The professor smirked at the Gryffindor as he ran his hand down Harry’s chest giving Harry plenty of time to say no. Harry swallowed thickly and wiggled impatiently.
“Please don’t tease.”
Severus chuckled softly but obeyed the request. It didn’t take much to work the tense body into release. Pink covered Harry’s cheeks when he came back down enough to realize he barely lasted at all.
“You just…it’s…” He stumbled over his words as Severus merely raised an eyebrow at him. “You’re so warm.” He finally blurted out covering his face.
Severus smirked and ran his clean hand through his hair before casting cleaning charms and spelling their clothes back into rights. “Come out, Harry. You call yourself a Gryffindor.”
Harry glared up at him for a moment before pushing Severus over onto the bed with a huff. The push was gentle giving way to the fact Harry was not seriously upset. Severus pulled Harry to him. Harry went without fuss and curled close.
“Git.” He mumbled fondly.
“Brat.”
Severus lay awake for hours after. Harry, of course, was awake with him but remained quiet. Both allowed fingers to trace patterns on the other. It was simple, peaceful, yet Severus found his thoughts straying to the words Albus had said earlier. Severus was in very deep here, but would everything turn out good? Would Severus be able to hold on tight enough? What of the Dark Lord? Severus had slipped with Albus when he used Harry instead of Potter. He could not afford to make the same mistake when in the presence of the Dark Lord. The Dark Lord would not just accept his slip up with a simple smile and grave words. Severus would be lucky to get away with his life…if that.
Something must have slipped through to Harry while Severus was lost in his thoughts.
“It is okay to be scared, Severus.”
Harry said it softly. Severus looked down into green eyes. There was care and affection, maybe even a little of Harry’s own fear there, but there was something else that Severus did not want to name. It shown in the vampires eyes making his throat feel tight. His chest felt too small for his lungs. No.
“Get out.”
Harry sat up surprised and hurt. “Severus…”
“Out. I need you out.” He shut their connection and tried to ignore the hurt from Harry when he did. Severus felt like he was suffocating.
“But…”
Harry reached for Severus. He did not know what was happening. One minute Severus was calm, then he started to tense up and small tendrils of worry and fear began to leak through their connection and the mans scent. Harry had wanted to comfort Severus but maybe he should have kept his mouth shut instead. Harry winced when Severus batted his hand away.
“I said to leave.” Severus glared at him but there was something that made Harry pause. Desperation. “Please.” The word was choked.
Harry jumped from the bed and flitted to the door before pausing. He looked back at Severus sadly. The man had curled in on himself as if suffering great pain. Harry shut the door softly behind him settling on the rug by the fire the house elves kept going.
Meanwhile, Severus was trying to steady his breaths. He tried hard not to think about what he saw in those green eyes; tried not to think about the tightening in his chest or the warmth in his belly. How could things change so quickly? Severus tried hard not to feel the return feelings to what was reflected in those bright green eyes. Severus failed. What, who, else was he going to fail before this was over?
Harry decided he would never mention the panicked gasps and soft sobs his keen ears picked up from behind the bedroom door. Nor would he mention his own pink tears as his heart broke for the man he had come to love.
