Draco reeled in shock after his mother’s visit.
Behind him, he could hear Granger crying quietly.
He felt as if he had awoken from a dream only to discover that his reality was a nightmare.
It was ludicrous. A lie.
He studied the marks on his body.
When had those even appeared?
He sat down, recalling all that he remembered.
He went to work. He had a scheduled meeting with Granger. He remembered looking forward to it because it was a wonderful opportunity to remind her that she was, in fact, inferior.
He understood that his actions and feelings towards her might be misread by others, but he found it difficult, if not impossible, to treat Granger with anything remotely resembling respect.
She was not like his kind, and while Draco never considered himself a snob he certainly did not understand the reason why she was so well-liked, why others looked to her for the answer, when he was the one who was more deserving?
He felt his hands tighten into fists.
It was something he detested about himself. This dreadful weakness where she was concerned.
Looking about the dingy cell, he felt his fists tighten even more.
It was something he rarely explored, this thing he had with Granger. But his current circumstances demanded that he must explore it otherwise he had to consider the alternative: that both his parents had lost their minds, because he knew that there was no way either one would want their child to degrade himself with something like a muggle-born. It simply defied all reason.
The sound of sobbing was becoming grating, so he turned around and snapped, ‘Shut-UP!’
Abruptly she reached up and slapped her hands to her mouth, but once she did that, nothing held the blanket up.
Yet again he found himself faced with her naked body.
Someone had seriously done her in. He could not recall ever witnessing this kind of violence against a person. Yes, he’d seen many people die, even tortured, but those were with curses. Granger had found herself a foe who liked to use their hands…claws…and even teeth.
I did NOT do that, he angrily thought.
How could his mother even consider such a thing, let alone intimate it to him? Draco would like nothing more than to inflict pain on his enemies, but it was not his style to resort to such brutish behavior.
He made a point to use spells alone. Much less messy. This was what animals, did—mudbloods resorted to these types of tactics due to their inability wield a wand.
Of course Draco had better taste.
Unfortunately, he felt his cock twitch, and turned away in disgust. But she was naked…
I would never do these things.
What could lead his mother to draw such a conclusion? If she and his father were not lying, and they had somehow managed to hide the fact that he was a veela, or part veela, then why would his mate be someone like her? Weren’t their rules to promote compatibility?
He and Granger were enemies. Had been. Always would be.
He ignored a throbbing pain in his head.
He wished he could remember what the hell had happened in the last few hours.
He pressed his face into his hands.
Patience.
He would remember.
And when he did, there would be hell to pay.

If readers are confused, I reccomend rereading the first chapter and then skipping to here if they need a refresher.
do readers have any thoughts about the secondary plot with lucius/narcissa/ginny? there will be some expansion. would readers like to see a separate story, detailing how lucius/ginny came to be? just curious.
Thanks for the reviews...and as always I struggle with clarity and making draco more complex. keep reading. the focus will soon start to shift to hermione. she's an obstacle all on her own!
