Hermione went through her classes that day in a haze, she couldn't focus on anything but what had transpired between her and Draco earlier that morning. She felt her chest tighten as she replayed the events in her head. He had been so sweet and genuine, a side that she had never seen from him before. And, he had called her beautiful? That was something new..
But then right after everything had happened, he had ran away telling her it was a mistake, and that seriously hurt. She didn't understand what happened or why, she didn't even have time to ask him because he had disappeared, and he was now avoiding her at all costs.
Harry and Ron had picked up on her odd behaviour immediately, and were continuously asking her what was wrong. She waved them off and told them she was fine, that she must be coming down with a bug.
When her final class came to an end, Hermione gathered her belongings and was making her way towards the Great Hall for dinner, when she was bombarded by Ginny.
"Alright, spill" Ginny said, her eyes flashing.
"What are you talking about?" Hermione asked.
"Granger, we know that something happened between you and Draco" Blaise said stepping out from behind a pillar.
"Zabini what are you doing here?" Ginny asked, her eyes snapping over to where he was now leaning casually against the pillar.
"Don't act all surprised. I'm a pretty observant individual, and considering I'm Draco's best friend, and whenever I brought up Hermione's name he would change the subject, or if she was in the room he would make sure to be as far away from her as possible, I figured that something had to have transpired between the two of them sometime this morning" Blaise stated.
Hermione stated at Blaise her mouth hanging open.
"And considering Hermione here is looking at me in awe and shock, I would say that my premonitions are correct" Blaise said with a smirk.
Ginny turned towards Hermione, turning her back to Blaise and said "What happened between you and Malfoy?"
Hermione's face went beet red, and she chewed on her bottom lip nervously.
"Hermione Jane Granger, I swear if you don't tell me I will hex the answer out of you" Ginny said dangerously.
"Okay, okay, I'll tell you. But can we please go somewhere more private?" Hermione asked.
"Lead the way" Blaise said waving his arm in front of him.
Hermione lead them back to her dorm, and Ginny and Blaise took a seat across from her on the opposite couch.
"Alright, spill" Ginny said her patience wearing thin.
"Well this morning I came out of the shower and was walking back towards my room, when Draco came through the portrait hole. I wasn't expecting him to even be awake, because it was early, no less coming back from god knows where" Hermione started.
"Actually, he was coming back from the Slytherin dormitories" Blaise stated.
"And you know this how?" Ginny asked her eyebrow raised.
"Because he came to check on me" Blaise said.
"Why?" Ginny asked.
"Because he was checking to see where I ended up sleeping last night" Blaise said smirking.
"What do you mean he was checking to see where you ended up sleeping. Why does he care?" Ginny asked.
"Because I was here with Hermione all last night and he wanted to see whether or not I stayed over" Blaise said slowly.
"Well I'll be dammed" Ginny said shaking her head.
"What?" Hermione asked.
"Nothing. Continue your story" Ginny said waving her onward.
"Anyways, he came in, and he stopped walking when he saw me. I was only in my pink bath robe" Hermione said her face flushing.
Blaise smirked.
"And then he just stared at me and then started walking towards me. He stopped directly in front of me and told me I'm beautiful" Hermione said, her face scarlett.
"And then what?" Blaise asked, already anticipating her answer.
"And then he kissed me"
"What!" Ginny exclaimed.
"I knew it" Blaise said smirking.
"Yeah well, as soon as it happened he pulled back, told me it was a mistake and all but ran out of the common room as fast as he could" Hermione said softly.
"Don't take that personally Hermione, I know Draco, he's not one to express feelings to anyone. And for him to tell you you're beautiful, and then kiss you? That's huge! I guarantee the only reason he ran away like he did is because he's scared of what came over him. You have to understand that Draco is not used to having feelings for anybody, especially someone of your nature, no offense. He was brought up to believe that Muggleborns are beneath him, and that there is no such thing as love, or having feelings for someone of the opposite gender, or anyone for that matter. His father destroyed Draco at a young age, making him believe in the things that he wanted, he didn't let Draco have a mind of his own. Ever since his father has been locked up in Azkaban and hasn't been around to continuously tell Draco how he should be or act, Draco is finally starting to become his own person and is realizing things on his own. He's confused about what's going on inside of him. I know he has feelings for you, but like I said he doesn't know what they are or how to act on them. It's all a new experience for him. Just give him time and he will come around. Hell, he's coming around faster than I thought he would. A year ago, he never would have openly told you you're beautiful or even kissed you" Blaise said.
"He's right Hermione" Ginny said smiling sweetly at her friend.
"I didn't think of it that way, but that makes sense" Hermione stated. "So what should I do?"
"Just keep doing what you're doing. Pretend what happened this morning doesn't have any effect on you, it will drive him crazy. Trust me" Blaise stated.
"So are we going to continue to pretend dating?" Hermione asked.
"Yes. I know what to say and do to push Draco's buttons. We just act normal and like nothing happened, meaning we're still a happy couple blah blah" Blaise said.
"Okay sounds good" Hermione said determinedly.
"Alright girlfriend, little Weasley, you two ready to head to the Great Hall for some dinner? I'm hungry" Blaise stated rubbing his stomach.
"Such a typical guy" Ginny said rolling her eyes.
"I'm not your typical guy Weaslette" Blaise said winking at Ginny.
Ginny smacked Blaise playfully on his chest and got up, offering her arm to Hermione.
Hermione linked her arm through Ginny's and Blaise grabbed her left hand, and the three of them made their way towards the Great Hall.

Draco looked up, along with the rest of the students as the Great Hall doors opened.
In walked Hermione, Blaise and Ginny, all smiling together.
Ginny unlinked her arm from Hermione's and stepped back as Blaise let go of Hermione's hand and wrapped his arms around her lower back, pulling her in tight against his chest. Draco watched as Blaise looked down at Hermione and then gently placed his lips upon hers.
Draco felt his fists tighten angrily. He watched the couple through narrowed eyes, never taking his eyes off of them.
When Blaise pulled back, he placed a kiss on Hermione's forehead and then turned towards the Slytherin table and locked eyes with Draco.
Blaise smirked a triumphant smirk and rose an eyebrow in Draco's direction.
Draco scowled and dropped his eyes back down to his plate.
He felt Blaise slide into the empty seat beside him.
"What did that fork ever do to you mate?" Blaise asked trying to stifle his laughter.
"What are you taking about Zabini" Draco snapped.
"The fork in your hand" Blaise stated.
Draco looked over at his right hand and saw that the fork that he had been using to eat had been completely bent into the shape of a U. He hadn't even realized he had still been holding the fork when he had clenched his hands. He must have bent the fork in his haste.
Draco dropped the utensil and pushed his food away, his appetite long gone.
Blaise watched his friends behaviour intently, a smirk plastered on his features. He knew that Draco had been utterly pissed about the scene that him and Hermione had just displayed for the entire student body. He had seen it written on Draco's face the minute he had turned his attention away from Hermione and over to him. He knew that Draco wasn't going to be able to keep up his demeanor much longer. He was going to snap soon. And Blaise, being his best friend, was going to help him snap sooner rather than later.
