Lol, so many fans of the gory leg. XD I guess I should be relieved with the blood theme in all this. Gonna post two chappies tonight but you should be expecting a slow down of post on my part pretty soon. I’m reaching the end of what I have written… well, I have about 100 more pages to go until you’re at the point where I am, but I’m the kind of writer that just writes for about 100 pages before going back and fixing things so the pages aren’t that organized yet. ^^;;; Many huggles and snuggles for all the kind reviews! ^___^

CH25
Hours later, Narcissa Malfoy found them wrapped together. In her frantic relief she didn’t notice the crumpled body in the corner, nor did she recognize the dark haired boy that her son was clinging to. She halted at the edge of the glowing shield, unsure of what to do now that she had found Draco safe. She was about to call out to him when she met the gaze of unnaturally green eyes. Gasping, she stepped back.
She saw the scar then, although the telltale glasses were missing. His eyes continued to bore into her with an unreadable expression that she couldn’t bring herself to meet. “Who do you serve?” Harry finally spoke. His voice was harsh and she could hear the pain, but his gaze remained steady, weighted with power.
“My son.” She replied firmly, determined not to wilt under the dark stare. She had thrown away everything by coming here; she would pass this final obstacle as well. Lips thin and fists clenched, she waited anxiously for the boy to decide if she was worthy.
Harry nodded finally and with a murmured Finite Incantatem the shield dispersed. She ran to her son and wrapped desperate arms around him to ensure he was real and alive. “Draco… wake little dragon.” Smoothing his silvery hair she called again but nothing seemed to rouse him. Fear gripped her heart and she turned her teary blue eyes to the scarred boy, noting his ragged breathing.
“He merely sleeps… exhaustion.” Harry whispered to her, his eyes glazed with pain. “Quickly, take him. I cannot untangle him and if he stays any longer he will be harmed, possibly killed.” She shot him a confused look; he didn’t sound like a normal sixteen year old should but she dismissed for shock after whatever he had been through. Gratefully she went to work prying her son’s clutching hands and arms from the boy who was quickly unraveling before her. She stood with prize in hand and carried Draco to the door. Uncertainly she paused in the doorway, turning back to find the boy doubled over in pain.
“Shut the door!” He cried, blood dripping from a lip bitten to hold back his screams. She nodded mutely and shut the door. The wards flared to full power, sealing the house from any invading power. She swiftly searched the house until she found Draco’s bedroom and laid him among the sheets. Draco sighed and nuzzled into the pillow, pulling a smile from her. Her immediate concern taken care of she stood and gathered her power. There was a certain traitorous house elf she had business with that nothing would interrupt.
*******
It had taken her a good forty-five minutes before Narcissa found her way back to the arrival chamber on the second floor. A good quarter hour was spent locating the treacherous beast, another half to inflict the necessary vengeance. She had left Kreacher’s decapitated head posted on a splintered chair leg she had used to spear the portrait of Mrs. Black. Her screams had fallen on uncaring ears; the woman had been a monster and did not deserve the name of Black even in death.
This time she allowed herself a thorough assessment of the room. She quickly located the Potter boy, his pitiful whimpers and hoarse screams easily found in the poorly lit arrival chamber. The house elf had obviously been inapt; dust was everywhere, covering like a sooty snow. It was the smell of blood that first clued her to another’s presence. She followed it to the far side of the room where a body lay mangled with broken furniture and shattered glass among the shadows. The cloak she recognized as Death Eater. With a disdainful air she toed the man over to get a clear look at the bloodied face. No doubt it was Draco’s bite. Distinct four deep fang piercings identified her kind. A surge of pride filled her at her fair son’s strength.
The face wound, although severe, could not be the source of the blood pooling around the executioner’s body and with a flick of her wand Narcissa quickly found the twisted splintered mess that was once a leg. The shear power that such a wound could be born from was beyond human. A halfling or faeling perhaps. Draco was still sealed… he would be unable to raise such power at this time.
Turning, she once again observed the writhing boy. His cries had almost ceased but his pain was still in full force, shooting through his body until he was taunt as a bow. Draco had lain like that once on the main foyer floor at the Manor only a few weeks ago. Apparently the boy’s condition wasn’t fatal, but essential in his growth into a fine Fae wizard. Watching as the boy gave another piercing scream, weaker than the previous, she let her thoughts fall to her next move.
Lucius had done what he could to protect his family but now, with the old allegiance ruined, it was her duty as the eldest blood to protect her line. When Voldemort had dared to order her son killed, all bonds that he may have had on the Black family was destroyed. She had two options, neither certain. Dumbledore was powerful but not infallible. He had lost a lot from his side but at this point she didn’t have the resources to do it alone. She had Draco to consider and her unborn child. If it would ensure their safety she would offer her loyalties.
The other option was even trickier. If she could find the true Heir… Newly born, he would not be a great asset but with the proper training of his power he would eventually become the most powerful being to exist in this realm. But it left too much to chance. Voldemort would already be searching; the child wouldn’t stand a chance without help, and as each day passed her magic weakened as it assisted in protecting her baby. Did she spend the time to seek him out or wait semi-safe with Dumbledore while the Dark Lord killed the only chance of mankind’s survival? She could leave Draco in Dumbledore’s care while… no. She would not let him be used. That was the whole reason she was here.
She had a duty to her family but that included the ones long past. She would have to find the last Tranza and ensure the Heir was kept safe. With Kreacher gone, the house was safe from invasion. Draco could stay here while she searched. Hogwarts was not safe, not with secret entrances and so many familiar faces that could be polyjuiced threats in disguise. Grimmauld Place had only one entrance hall and all the other doors had been sealed. She would make sure Draco followed the proper procedures to prevent any imposters slipping in. As for the Potter boy…
To let him stay was too great of a risk. Both Dumbledore and Voldemort would see it as an act of aggression against them and it would only put Draco in greater danger. She would give him over to Dumbledore as a sign of good faith she decided… but not before his exritus was complete. She couldn’t even fathom what could happen if anyone was foolish enough to interfere in his exritus. Macnair was dead. She couldn’t let the boy kill anyone who walked by; it could ruin his future. Also, if someone was ignorant enough to try and use magic, or move him, the boy could inadvertently be killed. No, the best course of action was to leave the boy here in relative safety and solitude, and send him packing once he was complete. She could order a trusted house elf to unseal the floo when the time came so the boy could leave, ensuring Draco would never have to leave the safety of the inner rooms. Actually… didn’t the boy have his own…
“Dobby?”
A minute passed, almost long enough for her to think the elf wouldn’t answer, but a moment later a loud pop announced his arrival.
“What is it you want, Mistress?” Dobby said with an air of mistrust and a large frown. “I is not promising I’s do it now. I is free now and is happy like this.”
Narcissa nodded her understanding. “I ask only in request of another who cannot speak for himself right now. I’m sure you are well acquainted with Mr. Potter.” She drew his attention to where Harry was curled on the floor.
Dobby’s eyes widened and his ears flared out in surprise. “Why, Master Harry is a having his Soul Awakening, he is!” He squeaked in delight. “This is wondrous! He will be even stronger than ever!”
“Yes Dobby, it a wonderful occasion. I’m afraid that no one will be here to supervise him. Would you be willing to care for him and make sure he is taken to Hogwarts once his exritus is through?”
“I is doing anything for the great Harry Potter.” Dobby said; his face a mix of pride and happiness as he gazed down at Harry’s pain wrenched form.
“You will not tell anyone? They will not know how to act in this situation, they may even harm him.” She continued quickly at Dobby’s uncertain expression. “I ask only in the interest of his safety.”
Dobby flinched at the mention of Harry being hurt. “I is taking care of him. Secrets Dobby can keep.” He assured, wringing his hands.
“Very good, Dobby. Ricket is here taking care of Draco in the main house. If you need anything he can assist you. I must leave immediately. Please see that the floo is sealed behind me.”
“Wait! What of this dead thing here? It will corrupt Master Harry, it will!” Dobby called after her and pointed in disgust at Macnair’s fallen form.
Narcissa hesitated, weighing her options carefully. She didn’t want to incriminate the boy but it would be a sign of good will to present it to the light side. But it could possibly incite Voldemort into something dangerous since the man had been sent for her son.
“Strip him… burn the clothes… and dump the corpse in Knockturn Alley.”
They both turned to find weary green eyes watching them from his place on the floor. Harry continued in a low rasp. “The Ministry will think it was random, only Voldemort and Dumbledore will know otherwise, and both will be too busy suspecting the other side to realize it was me.” He coughed, blood splattering on the ground. “Once the Ministry drops the whole thing I’ll let Dumbledore know I did it… but that’ll be a while still.”
“…You is done it, Master Harry?” Dobby asked in disbelief.
Harry didn’t answer, just buried his face into his arm.
“It was self defense, Dobby. That man was very evil.” Narcissa said briskly, moving to Harry’s prone form. “I’m sorry, I realize my presence is disrupting you.” She said kneeling beside Harry. “You saved my son?”
Harry nodded slowly. “He needed saving… I just happened to show up.”
Narcissa frowned at that. “Mr. Potter, you are in the midst of your exritus. You do not just happen to ‘show up.’ You do not even break into consciousness unless it is imperative. You were fated here for the very reason I just mentioned and I will not forget it— No, be silent. I don’t have the time.” She rustled through her robes and pulled out a narrow key. “I know it will never equal my gratitude but I have a discrete vault with very substantial funds…”
“Stop.” Harry groaned, turning his head to meet Narcissa’s gaze. “I don’t want your money. I don’t want anything. I’m glad Malfoy wasn’t hurt, it’s enough.”
“Please, Mr. Potter. I may not have a lot of time and I refuse to let my debts go unpaid. The least I can do is ensure that the rest of your life is comfortable.” Narcissa said, her jaw set. “I most certainly won’t be able to use it and Draconis has his own vaults to see to him.”
“I… Draconis?” Harry’s eyes fell shut in defeat. He really was too tired to deal with all of it. “You don’t have to do this… but if it will make you fell better I will accept graciously.”
She nodded, pride intact, and carefully placed the key in his palm. “Vault 7. I suggest you avoid some of the items unless you are certain of their dangers. The money is free of problems though. If I get the chance I will willingly offer a more acceptable prize.” She smiled for the first time that night. Harry had been right; she was rather lovely when she wasn’t scowling. “Family is the most important thing to us; it’s our lifeblood. Thank you again, Mr. Potter, for saving my Draco.”
“You’re welcome, Mrs. Malfoy.” Harry murmured, sleep encroaching on him. “Thanks for not killing me when I was defenseless.”
That earned him another smile. “Dobby will take care of you and cover up this little incident. I’ll have Ricket bring you something for the pain… It’s too bad things had to turn out the way they did. I think I would have enjoyed your influence in the Scion Clan Courts.” With a light pat to Harry’s head, Narcissa rose to leave. Her first stop was the Ministry of Magic and their in depth records on wizard ancestry. Hopefully they may have a clue as to where the Tranza bloodline had dwindled ages ago.
