So sorry it took a while to get this chapter out guys. I had so much going on that it literally was making it hard to even be able to write. I hope to have the next chapter out rather quickly.
-As always this text is talking through a mental link-
Hermione sat down at the Gryffindor table in the Great hall and sighed. Draco and the other Slytherins were seated behind her, while Harry and Ron sat across from her, with Ginny to her right. She was annoyed, and the source of her annoyance was the red head across from her. Ron as usual was trying to take the easy way out and get her help on the spells rather than learn them himself. She refused to help him though and it was starting to grate on her nerves.
“For the last time Ron, I am not helping you learn the spells!” Hermione mumbled as he pouted.
“Malfoy and you already mastered the defensive spells though 'Mione! I just need a few tips to figure it out!” he whined and she sighed.
“How about I throw you in the lake instead so you'll be one with your element” Draco hissed at him from the Slytherin table.
“Bugger off Malfoy!”
“Enough both of you” Hermione snapped at them both, “Alex told you how to do the spells Ron! Just focus on the element and cast!”
“It's not like I can feel the element Hermione” he said with a huff.
Hermione seized up at him saying this and gasped, her eyes glazing over slightly. Images flashed in front of her mind and she moaned slightly at the headache she started feeling. As soon as the images started they were over and she shook her head.
“You alright Hermione?” Harry asked and she nodded, standing up quickly.
“I need to talk to Alex!” she said and rushed to the front of the room where the older witch was seated.
Draco and the others all watched her conversing with Alex before a smirk spread on Draco's face. He turned and looked at Ron with a sneer, but turned around again before the red head could respond. After a few minutes they all saw Alex nod and Hermione walked back to her seat. When she sat down they all looked at her strangely but she just shook her head.
-It will work love.-
-Let's hope so Draco. I'm tired of him begging.-
That evening Ron was walking with Draco and Hermione to the Room of Requirement. Alex had asked for the others to stay behind a second to discuss something with her, and the three of them had gone ahead. Ron was complaining again about the spells and Hermione nearly snapped at him twice. As they entered the room, he stopped upon seeing the room had been changed. While it was still the training room they usually had, along the back wall was a large bay door. It opened to a small patio that sat along a shore of a small pond.
“Ronald today you and I will be training on that patio. There's a rock at the water's edge. I want you to meditate with your legs hanging into the water for a little bit and focus on the sound and feel of the water. After that we'll try the spells again” Khira said as she approached him, transfiguring his clothes into shorts and a tank top. Once he was outside she turned to the other two and smiled, “Alex will be here shortly. She wants you both to practice combining your spells together until she gets here.”
Hermione nodded and they walked over to the other side of the room. The previous week Alex and Khira had shown all of them the spells combined and it had given them all a boost in confidence. While Ron was still struggling the others had advanced in leaps and bounds. Khira had agreed that Ron's inability to learn them was holding them back greatly. She'd told them that tonight she was going to get Ron to learn the spells or she'd take his place. It had started a heated argument between the two of them that ended in her freezing him to a wall for nearly an hour.
As Hermione took her place she smiled, feeling Draco press his chest against her back and wrap his arm around her waist. They had adapted this stance to be able to balance each other after they'd nearly destroyed the room with their first combined spell. The sandstorm they'd created had left various furniture broken in pieces across the room and their clothes had been shredded slightly. After that happened Alex refused to let any of them practice their spells alone.
Hermione turned slightly as she heard the door open and smiled lightly upon seeing Alex, Snape, Harry, and the others. Snape had been assisting occasionally as well as observing. Luna moved towards the doors at the back and smiled as she watched the red head meditating. After a few moments she turned to Hermione and nodded, moving to sit on a bench in the corner. Pansy walked outside and started training a few spells with Khira while Harry and Ginny practiced a fire shield, Snape monitoring them. Alex smirked and approached Draco and her and summoned a chair, straddling it and facing them.
“Luna told us that either today Ron gets it, or he never will. Let us hope what you saw is the outcome” she said and Hermione looked back at the red head.
“I know he can do it. Let's hope having the pond helps.”
“Khira needed to be by the lake to grasp it at first as well. We think it will help him focus on the element more. How have you been doing on the training with Luna?” she asked, resting her head on her arms against the back of the chair.
“It's been easier” the Gryffindor said with a sigh. She'd had trouble in the beginning of the training with Luna and felt it was useless. Now she was nearly able to control when she had the random visions and could touch people without seeing things unless she wanted. This morning had been one of the visions she couldn't control. Luna had told her that no matter what there would be ones that always got past her control because they were the key visions she needed to see. She felt more in control of her magic than ever before.
“It will take time Hermione, but you'll get the hang of it just like Luna has. I'm sure she has a few more tips she can give you” Alex smiled before gasping as she looked outside, “Holy Merlin!”
They all turned and gasped in shock. The water outside had started floating out of the lake as small raindrops and floating up. A large bubble of water had also started swirling above Ron, who was oblivious to what was happening. They all slowly approached the back door and couldn't help grinning as they saw the look on Khira's face. The blond was grinning and bouncing happily.
“He's got it!” she exclaimed, flinging herself into Alex's arms who laughed.
“It's about damn time!” Alex said, before the water came crashing down, soaking the red head who started spluttering, turning to look at them. Draco and Alex couldn't help it and started laughing as they watched him shake his head like a wet dog, before glaring at them.
“What the bloody hell happened?” he asked, shivering slightly.
“Would you like to see what we saw?” Alex asked, stepping closer and waving her wand to dry him off before he nodded. She placed her fingers against his temple when he nodded and he shivered as she projected what they'd seen into his mind. He gasped and she pulled away before he shook his head.
“That's impossible! I didn't do that!”
“Yes you did Ron” Hermione smiled at him and he grinned.
“I want to try the spells now” he said with a grin and they all nodded.
Alex and the others watched as he faced the water and started casting the spells. They all were relieved to see he was able to cast them instantly now. Muttering to herself, Alex turned to the others.
“Now we can start working on the offensive spells with all of you. With any luck this revelation for Ronald will help you all advance much faster” she said and they all grinned.
“I knew you could do it Ron” Pansy squealed, wrapping her arms around him and kissing him.
Hermione entered their common room and groaned, collapsing onto the couch. Her entire body ached and she felt she could barely move. It had been three days since Ron had figured out his spells, and their training had gone from manageable to impossible. Every night they were sore, close to passing out, and felt their magic had been drained. She looked up slightly as the door opened and Khira walked in, Draco right behind her. She smiled at him as he flopped down next to her and Khira chuckled, shaking her head.
“Why are you laughing?” Draco grumbled, glaring at her.
“You guys just remind me of when Alex was training me. I could barely move every night.”
“I'm just happy that Ron finally is stepping up. I nearly hexed him the other day!”
“He's stubborn Hermione, and you know that. Right now my main concern is Nott” Khira said, before the door opened and Alex stepped in, smirking at them.
“What's wrong with Theo?” Draco's glare shifted to Alex.
“Luna said he can't be trusted fully just yet. He has to make a choice and that choice will determine his fate in the war” Alex explained, sitting across from them.
“Why tell us though?” the Gryffindor looked between the two older witches.
“We need you two to talk to him and try and persuade him.”
“I can try and talk to him at breakfast.”
“If that doesn't work, then you find him in the afternoon before training and talk to him Hermione” the older witch replied and she nodded.
The following evening Hermione entered the library, looking around to find her target. She smiled when she saw he was sitting at a table towards the back, studying and approached him. As she approached he looked up at her and rolled his eyes, before looking back down at the book he had been reading. When she sat down he sighed and pushed the book to the side, looking up at her.
“I already told Malfoy that it's impossible Granger” Nott stated, and she nodded.
“I know, but you must know we have our reasons for at least suggesting it.”
Earlier that day Draco had tried his best to coerce Nott into joining their side, but it was to no avail. Theodore Nott was scared of his father, and it was the one obstacle they'd have to get through to succeed. Nott Sr. was not a nice man and very controlling and obsessed with blood purity. Draco had met him a few times due to his father's lavish parties. From what he remembered, the man was not going to be easy to handle. At lunch they had discussed it with Alex and she'd advised finding a way around the brutish man or blackmailing him. Hermione chose to speak to Theodore again to try and learn more about him.
“I get your reasons Granger, but my father is manipulative and will stop at nothing to be in control.”
“What does he really have power over Nott?”
“Everything” he said flatly and she sighed, “My father controls every aspect of my life. He's already arranged a marriage for me with a pureblood witch from France. She's a narcissistic bitch. The only thing I want with her is to have an heir and beyond that, I will have nothing to do with her unless forced. The same can't be said for my father. If I go against him, he will sully my name and ruin me among all of the pureblood elite. I'll be as poor as Weasley and nothing to show for it.”
“Would it be such a bad thing to be able to start over and make your own way?”
“You must have had a very humbling life Granger. Must be why Weasley liked you so much” he sneered at her and she rolled her eyes.
“Unlike most of the purebloods I wasn't born with a silver spoon up my arse.” he laughed as she said this and looked at her smugly.
“Obviously Granger, since you seem to think we all have it easy. While my family may not be as rich as the Malfoy's, we aren't broke. What we lack in money we make up for with influence” he looked around before staring back at her, “That influence means that my father has control over quite a few Wizengamot members. He manipulates them to gain control in any legislation he wants passed.”
“What would you do if you had freedom anyway?” she asked and he looked at her sadly, her noting the flash of hope in his eyes.
“Why do you care?”
“I'm just curious” she said with a shrug.
“As I told Draco, it's impossible. So it would be better if you and him as well as the rest of your lot leave me alone and stop trying. I can't go against my father. I may not agree with most of the beliefs he has, but that doesn't mean that I'm going to be able to defy him and come out with no blood on my hands. I'll not risk it.”
“What if we could break his control over your life?”
“You can't-”
“What if we could?” she leaned forward and he smirked at her.
“How would you do that Granger?”
“Surely Draco has some influence in the magical world still with his name. What if we were able to force him to back off?”
“Malfoy is considered a traitor by most of the old families.”
“I'm sure there's some way he can gain power over your father.”
“Regardless, I'm not switching sides until after my father is taken care of. If you figure out a way to influence him into letting me live my life the way I choose to live it, then you have my support, otherwise I stick to my current stance” he said with a glare, “Now if you'll excuse me Granger, I have studying to do.”
Hermione nodded and stood, making her way out of the library. She closed her eyes and focused on Draco, before feeling a pull towards their dorms. Upon entering the room, she found him reading some books at the table in the corner and he looked up at her and smiled. She relayed to him what Nott had said and he nodded.
“I figured he'd want reassurance” he stated and she sighed, sitting next to him.
“What are you reading?” she asked, seeing the various books open on the table.
“I'm researching the blood wards. So far I've not found anything that could help us. It's almost like they wards they used don't exist!” he groaned as he leaned back in his chair.
“I'm sure there's something about them somewhere in one of these texts” she stated, looking at each of the book titles.
“I've looked through all of them. There's nothing in Wards and Boundaries or Blood, Bonds, and Wards” he stated with a sigh.
“You didn't look through this one?” she asked, holding up a book and he looked at the title, Blood Wards of the Ancients, and he shook his head.
“Didn't notice that one.”
“I'll look through it and see what I can find.”
A few hours later the two of them looked up as Alex and Khira walked into the room. The blond smiled at them while Alex simply nodded, sitting at a table across the room and reading various rolls of parchment, obviously assignments she was grading. When Khira approached the table and looked at what they were reading Hermione smiled and went back to reading the book, watching out of the corner of her eye as the older blond moved over to sit across from her wife and they started discussing the papers quietly. A few moments later Hermione gasped as she finished reading a particular paragraph and Draco looked at her.
“What is it?” he asked, moving closer.
“Read the last paragraph here” she said, pointing to the middle of the page and he leaned over to read it.
While most magical families use regular magical wards, that is not the case with many old families. Many of the oldest pureblood families use blood wards. These wards are controlled by the head of the house or oldest heir, depending on the status of the heir. If an heir has not married or produced an heir of their own, they are not eligible to take over control of the wards until doing so. The only known exception to this rule is with creature blood bonds. Due to the exchange of blood in creature bonds, it binds two creatures together for life, and creates a bond that cannot be broken by even the strongest wards. This form of bondage is essentially a marriage and fulfills the requirement for an heir to be married, making them the official head of house.
“Holy Merlin!” Draco gasped, falling back in his chair as Alex and Khira looked over at them oddly.
“Something wrong?” Alex stood and approached them, taking the book from Hermione when she handed it to her and reading the passage, looking up at them both once she was done, “Am I reading this right?”
“I think we all can agree that if this book is correct Alex, Draco is the head of Malfoy Manor” Khira stated, walking over to her wife and looking at the passage as well.
“Dobby!” the older vampire called out and the small elf appeared next to her, before bowing before them.
“What need you have of Dobby, Professor?” he asked, his eyes wide as he stared up at her.
“Dobby, go and collect Draco's record for me, from the Headmaster's office please” she said and the elf nodded, disappearing with a crack, before she looked at them “If that is true, you'll be listed together as husband and wife in the file.”
“Here it be Professor” the elf squeaked upon returning, handing her a roll of parchment that she quickly unrolled and read. As she scanned the parchment Dobby stared at them all and his eyes landed on Draco, who looked over at him with a sad look, “Dobby is sorry to hear about Mistress Narcissa's passing young sir. You and her were always nice to me.”
“Thank you for your condolences Dobby” Draco nodded at him and the elf nodded, before they both turned to Alex when she groaned.
“It seems you are the new head of Malfoy Manor, Draco” she said, placing the parchment on the table and pointing to a particular line.
“Lord Draco Lucius Malfoy, married December 13th, 1997 to Lady Hermione Jean Malfoy (nee Granger)” he read out loud and Hermione gasped, “This is not good.”
“What?” Hermione gasped looking at him and he sighed, turning to her.
“I don't mean it like that Hermione” he stated slowly.
“After the crap you gave me before the holidays about us getting married. Now you want to say that it's not a good thing we are?!” she snapped and he glared at her.
“Hermione I mean it's not a good thing if it's been documented without us knowing!” he growled and she softened slightly under his gaze.
“Do you think he saw it?” Khira asked, staring directly at Draco.
“Does he think who saw what?” Hermione asked, looking between all of them.
“The family tree on the wall in Lucius' study” Alex stated and she looked at her confused, “It's magical and uses a spell to update itself after marriages. It's the same spell that the school records use.”
“So my name would be on the family tapestry?” she asked and the older witch nodded.
“What are we going to do?” Hermione looked over at Draco who was staring at Alex, fear shining in his eyes.
“You two will go down to the training room with the others while I go and consult with the Headmaster” she stated, her demeanor leaving no room for argument.
“If Dobby may interject Professor. Dobby has ways to find out the information you seek” the small elf smiled up at them and Alex looked at him strangely.
“Explain yourself Dobby.”
“Dobby visits the Manor elves regularly” Alex smirked at him and waved for him to continue, “Us elves are not bound to wizard wards. We may pass through them freely. If Dobby were to be so bold, Dobby could go to the Manor and find out if my old Master knows of this information.”
“Can you ensure you will not get caught Dobby?” Hermione asked and the small elf stood up straight and nodded.
“Dobby will not be caught Miss Hermione!” he said, before snapping his fingers and disappearing.
“Go to the Room of Requirement and wait for the others. I'll go talk to Albus and be up there shortly” Alex said to the two teens who nodded, before she turned to Khira, “I know you'll be listening in, but go with them and explain everything to Severus. We'll tell the others once we know more.”
“Alright love” she said with a nod and watched as Alex rolled up the parchment and left the room, “Let's go.”
Hermione, Draco, and Khira entered the Room of Requirement a few moments later to find everyone already waiting for them. They all paired off and started training, Khira pulling Severus aside and filling him in on everything that they found out.
“Are you completely sure that is what the record said?” he asked and the blond nodded.
“I read it myself Severus. They are both married now” she said with a sigh.
“Who's married?” Harry asked, stepping over to them.
“No one that concerns you, Potter” Snape growled at the boy and Khira rolled her eyes.
“I wasn't asking you Professor” the raven haired boy glared at the older man, onyx eyes meeting green.
“Enough you two!” Khira snapped with a sigh, “Harry we'll explain when we can. For now go back to your training!”
“Fine” he groaned, sparing one final glare at the Potions Professor, before walking away.
“You need to stop doing that!” the blond hissed at Severus, who sneered at her “You treat Draco completely different-”
“Draco is not an arrogant, stubborn boy” he cut her off and she rolled her eyes.
“Yes, that much is obvious, but Harry does not deserve to be treated like this by you.”
“What would you have me do then?”
“Stop being an ass and get to know him!” she stated, before seeing Alex enter the room, “Now if you'll excuse me, I am going to talk to my wife. Maybe you should try pulling that stick out your ass and try and be nice for once to your godson, instead of a total dick.”
“He's still being hard on him?” Alex stated once she was next to her and the blond nodded with a roll of her eyes.
“You would think the two of them were actually father and son with how hardheaded they can be.”
“Sure you still want him to help us?” Khira turned to her wife whose eyes were full of mirth.
“As sure as I am that I love when you bite me” she stated and Alex coughed when she sent a particular image through their bond.
“Suka!” Alex growled, walking off to assist Draco and Hermione in their training.
After an hour longer of training, Alex paired them off and had them working on the physical combat and defense. Just as she was about to pair Harry with Snape a silver phoenix flew into the room and floated before them.
“It seems that your fears earlier were correct Alexandria. Lucius is on the castle grounds near the forest. Do what you must, and I will do what I can to ensure you are not hindered” the Headmaster's voice boomed through the room and Alex snarled, the rest of them noticing her eyes darkening.
“Well that didn't take long” Snape stated as the patronus vanished.
“What is going on?” Ron asked.
“We found out earlier today that Draco and I are actually married” everyone gasped as Hermione said this and she held up a hand before Ron could protest, “We didn't know the binding ritual was an ancient ritual that acted like a marriage ceremony.”
“How are you not freaking out about this Hermione?” Ginny asked.
“I only found out a couple hours ago” she said and the red head nodded.
“Alright, I'll go and handle Lucius. I won't block Khira out so she can keep you all updated on what happens, but you will all be staying up here-”
“Like hell I am!” Draco growled and she rounded on him, “Hear me out Alex.”
“You're not going with me Draco.”
“He's here for me and Hermione. Remember the first vision Hermione had? I was the one chasing him. He will come out of hiding if he sees me. We can use that to lure him away from the students and into the forest.”
“No Draco! You're staying here!”
“Professor, let him go with you” Luna stated and Alex turned to her, “He must go with you for you to be successful.”
“Fine, but you run if I tell you to run” he nodded when Alex said this and the two of them turned to their mates.
“Be careful, both of you” Khira stated and hugged Alex tightly, before turning to hug the blond next to her.
“Stay in the room and do not leave for any reason. We'll be back as soon as possible” Alex stated as her and Draco pulled their cloaks on, and the others all nodded.
“I'll be back soon love” Draco said, kissing Hermione's forehead and followed Alex out of the room.
“Where are we going to start looking for him?” Draco asked as they descended the moving staircases.
“We'll walk around the edge of the castle and see if we can lure him out. If that doesn't work we'll move towards the forest” she stated and he nodded.
Upon reaching the Front Hall, they pulled their hoods over their heads and stepped out into the brisk cold air. The sun had long been set and the grounds were illuminated by the moon that partially peaked out from behind the forest. A fog had started creeping across the grounds as well, making it have an eerie feeling. As Alex scanned the grounds she noted a stillness in the air and breathed in deeply.
“Stay close to me” she whispered and Draco nodded, following her as they set off to walk past the greenhouses.
As they reached the edge of the greenhouses Alex pulled out her wand and scanned the edge of the forest. She noted nothing was moving or making any noises along the edge before moving closer between the shadows of the buildings. As they neared the forest edge she stopped upon hearing a squeaking ahead of them that sounded strained. She motioned to Draco to listen and he nodded, letting her know he heard it. As they slowly made their way towards the noise Draco gripped his wand. They heard an angry snarl ahead of them suddenly and Alex held out her arm to stop Draco.
'It's him' she mouthed to him and he furrowed his brow asking her how she knew, before she pointed to her nose and he nodded. They continued moving forward, stopping upon hearing hushed voices. Looking through the trees, Alex spotted a small clearing in the trees, snarling upon seeing Lucius standing there, and went to step forward. Before she could though, Draco grabbed her arm and pointed next to Lucius and she looked in shock upon seeing Dobby cowering on the ground next to Lucius.
“First Potter tricks me into setting you free, then you have the audacity to sneak into my home?!” he hissed at the elf.
“Dobby was only listening to his Mistress, Sir” the elf squeaked, shrieking as Lucius snapped his cane down with a sickening crack against the elf's head, leaving a deep cut in his forehead.
“I should have killed you all those years ago you pathetic elf!” the blond snapped, raining blows down onto Dobby's side and legs.
“Please Sir! Show mercy with Dobby!” Alex growled lowly as the elf begged, his pleas unheard by the blond above him who continued to rain blows down on his body.
“You deserve no mercy!” Lucius yanked his wand from his cane and pointed it directly at the elf, “I'll do something I should have done long ago! Avada-”
“LUCIUS!” Draco boomed, the elder Malfoy twirling to face him enraged.
“You!” he snarled, watching as Draco approached him slowly, unaware of Alex moving to get behind him.
“Yes it's me. Why are you here?” Draco asked, watching Alex's movements discreetly.
“I'm here to take care of something I should have done long ago” Draco glared at his father as he said this and Lucius snarled, “A few weeks ago I was quite displeased to enter my study, only to find that the family tree had been rewritten! Not only had you managed to sully our name, you did it with a mudblood!”
“I assure you that it was not me who sullied the Malfoy name Lucius! You did that long ago” Draco sneered at his father, watching his face turn slightly red.
“You were always so much like your mother! Weak and spineless, and a horrible excuse for a wizard!”
“My mother was not weak!”
“She got what she deserved Draco. She knew not to oppose me. She should have let me cast you out like the trash you are” the older blond hissed.
“The only trash here that I see is you Lucius” Draco hissed back watching out the corner of his eye as Alex slowly levitated Dobby towards her and checked over the elf.
“You will not speak to your father like that-”
“You are not my father anymore! You're nothing but a coward Lucius! You killed my mother, and ran like the weakling you always have been! Today you will pay for what you did to her!” Draco yelled, his eyes turning a dark grey.
“You can't kill me boy! You don't have it in you!”
“He may not, but I do” Alex stated, stepping out from the bushes behind Lucius, the blond twirling to face her, “This fight is between you and me, Lucius.”
“If that is how it must be, then so be it. I'll kill you and then when I'm done I'll kill Draco and that elf” he snarled, raising his wand towards her.
“Draco take Dobby and go back to the castle” Alex stated, her eyes never leaving the wizard in front of her.
“How adorable” Lucius chuckled lowly, “Always so protective of the house elves.”
Draco nodded and moved over to where Dobby was hidden as Alex circled around Lucius. The wizard's eyes never left hers and it gave the younger blond a chance to quickly grab the small elf and move away from them. As Draco slowly picked up the elf, he gasped upon seeing the deep gash and various bruises on the elf's body. Dobby was barely breathing and looked to be unconscious. Draco spared Alex and Lucius one final look before backing away from them and making his way to the castle, leaving the two in the clearing.
“I should have killed that boy the first time he disappointed me” Lucius glared at Alex and she snarled back, her fang descending.
“You will never harm him ever again Lucius!” she hissed, baring her fangs at him.
Lucius sneered and quickly cast a spell at her, but she blocked it, firing one at him as well. The clearing erupted in various colors of purples, reds, greens, and yellows as the two tried to gain the upper hand against each other. Their shields illuminated the entire clearing with an almost blinding white glow. Alex went to fire a stunning spell at the blond, but it was blocked, and he fired a familiar white spell at her. The explosion that erupted from the blast instantly charred the trees in the area and a few smaller ones fell backwards. When the smoke cleared Lucius sneered, before it turned into a frown upon seeing Alex standing to the side of where the blast had hit. She smirked at him and stepped to the side.
“Did you really think that it would work against me a second time?” she asked before firing a blasting spell at his shield.
“You'll pay for that you bitch!” he hissed, firing a blasting spell in return, but she was too fast and her shield absorbed the spell.
Lucius continued to fire spell after spell at her shield, but they were all absorbed by the shield. She knew it was almost time to release the shield and smirked when he shot a particularly nasty hex at the shield and it glowed a bright orange. She focused on her magic and waited for him to fire another spell before using the propulsion spell she'd seen Hermione use and blasting the shield in Lucius' direction. The shield hit the blond directly and he flew back into a tree, a loud crack resonating around them, before he slumped against the ground.
Slowly approaching him, Alex picked up his wand from the ground and smirked when she noted he was still breathing, but it was shallow. Before he could react, she stepped forward and yanked him up by his hair and dragged him into the center of the clearing, dropping him to his knees before her. He groaned in pain and coughed, blood trickling down his chin and his eyes looked up at her with pure hatred. He attempted to speak but she slapped him hard across his face, his head snapping to the right. As his gaze came back to hers, she held up his wand with a dark smile and snapped it into multiple pieces, dropping them in front of him.
“You're done Lucius” she stated, sneering at him.
“You'll pay for this you filthy half-breed” he glared at her, before coughing and blood dripped down his chin.
“You won't be there to see it” she smirked, waving her wand as a white light slashed across his neck and his head fell from his body. As his head hit the ground his body fell with it and she sighed, looking around the clearing.
“You did it” she gasped and turned, facing the glowing figure at the edge of the clearing.
“Cissa!” she gasped, tears threatening to fall from her eyes, “You can't be here!”
“This will be my last time” the spirit said with a smile.
“Why are you here?”
“I couldn't leave without thanking you Alex.”
“I only did what was needed” Narcissa shook her head at this.
“You have done so much more” Alex sighed as the apparition floated closer, “You kept your promise.”
“It won't bring you back though.”
“No, but I am never truly gone. I will always be with the both of you in your hearts” Alex smiled lightly at this and the blond looked around the clearing, “I must move on, but do not lose hope.”
“You came here to tell me something didn't you?”
“I did” Alex gasped as the spirit rested her hand on her cheek and shuddered as she heard the woman's voice in her mind.
“Thank you Narcissa” Alex smiled at Narcissa who smiled back.
“I will always love the both of you” the dark haired witch watched as she faded, before letting out a deep breath.
After a few moments Alex turned and looked at the body on the ground. She quickly walked closer and turned the body over, grabbing the two rings off of Lucius' hands. She pocketed them and also checked his pockets for anything significant, finding two folded parchments in his left breast pocket. Once she was done inspecting the body she stood and stepped back a few feet, raising her wand. Quickly flicking it, she watched as a flame shot from her wand and engulfed the body, quickly incinerating it. Within minutes Lucius' body was reduced to ashes and she sighed. Turning back towards the castle she made her way to the front entrance but was stopped by Albus who looked at her solemnly.
“Is it done?” he asked and she nodded.
“I took care of the body as well” she stated, before looking behind him and noticing Draco was sitting on the bottom stairs of Front Hall, “Where's Dobby?”
“We couldn't save him. The damage was too much and he passed shortly after young Draco brought him through the doors” Albus turned and looked at the blond with a sigh.
“I should have never let him go to the Manor.”
“He knew the risks.”
“I'll take Draco back to our dorms” Albus nodded to her and watched as she approached Draco, the blond standing and hugging her tightly before they turned and walked up the stairs.
As the two entered their common room they noted everyone was seated around the fire and turned to look at them. Khira rushed over and hugged Alex, Hermione doing the same to Draco. The two held onto their mates and refused to let go. Alex heard someone clear their throat and looked up to see Severus standing nearby. The two of them shared a look before he nodded and walked out of the room without another word. She looked back at where he'd been standing a moment before and slowly looked around at everyone. As her eyes landed on her godson she moved to approach him and he turned to her. Once she was close enough she wrapped her arms around his shoulders and rested her head on his left shoulder.
“She's finally at peace Draco” she said quietly and he nodded.
“I hope she was able to move on.”
“She did” he leaned back and looked at her and she smiled, “She visited me just before she moved on.”
“What did she say?”
“That she will always be with us in our hearts and to not lose hope” she said and he nodded before she looked at him and Hermione, “She also told me something as well.”
“What is it Alex?” Hermione asked, noticing her eyes watering slightly.
“She told me something we can blackmail Nott's father with.”
With that another chapter is done! I'm so glad to finally get this one posted, as it's been a hard few weeks and the writing relaxed me once it started flowing easily. As always, thank you to everyone who has read the story and please remember to leave a review telling me what you think of it. Love you all!
