One Year Later:
Hermione leaned back in her desk chair and let out a contented sigh. It was done, it took her a whole year but she was finally done, she had written a magical book and now she was battling with herself on if she was actually going to send it to any magical publishers. This was the second copy of her story, the first she had tweaked and played with so that it was a modern day tragic love fantasy story and she sold it in the muggle world. She smiled, this story wasn’t a fantasy in her world…actually it was a true story and was one that was likely to bring all sorts of attention (good and bad) to many people (living and dead). She had gotten the okay from everyone though, to write this story legally, with the help of Lucius and she was damned if she was going to let hatred and prejudice silence her now. She looked down at the title and sighed, every time she looked at it she hated it more and more.
The Ghosts Of Fallen Love: The Remus and Bellatrix Story.
“Are you finally done?” Lucius asked “Can we move on with our lives?”
“Yes” She answered nervously “Finally done…though I hate the name”
“So…” He motioned to the finished work “Does this mean that you will finally marry me?”
“Yes” She blushed “I guess it does” She looked around “Where’s Scorpius?”
“He just got home” Lucius answered “The school is a bit later than most but that was kind of the point…they will learn more”
“Where is he?” She repeated.
“In his room” Lucius answered “Playing with Draco”
“Good” Hermione said “And Severus?”
“In the labs…” Lucius answered “He is having a melancholy moment and his looking longingly at his cauldrons”
“Poor Severus” She said “But he can’t leave yet, I’m not fully done with my apprenticeship”
“And he doesn’t want to leave” Lucius answered “I’ve asked him, he merely has those moments that he’ll get over soon enough”
Lucius watched Hermione look down at her story, the one that kept her from marrying him any earlier as she told him that she needed to get this out of her before she settled down. She shrugged down at it and dropped in to a drawer of her desk to be forgotten and that made him frown at her back. He had not waited a year to be her husband just so she could throw away the story. She had legally gotten permission to use the story of Bella and Remus’s love so he would make sure that it was published. Hermione kissed him as she passed and disappeared down the hallway to go talk with Severus and when Lucius was certain that she was completely gone he stole the book and went to his office.

Hermione was happily watching her friends lives unfold before her while her own did the same thing throughout the next three weeks, as Harry and Ginny got engaged and Luna and Ron moved in to their own apartment, Hermione had been getting ready to become the next Mrs. Malfoy. Lucius had proposed to her the July the year before and she had said yes, however she told him that she couldn’t be distracted by a wedding until the story had been told. With Hermione’s help Remus had finally told Tonks about his romance with Bellatrix and how she had helped him in more ways than anyone could ever understand. Tonks had been surprisingly okay with the relationship as it had never crossed over their marriage.
“Hermione” Luna said as she walked in to the sitting room that Hermione was reading in “I have to say that your book is amazing and I cried at the end, I couldn’t help it”
“Yeah!” Ginny said as she rushed in “I read it in one day, poor Harry didn’t get any sex because he was holding me while I sobbed in to my pillow”
“Ron too” Luna said “Even knowing the outcome of the story beforehand, duh, I still wanted Remus and Bellatrix to be able to have a happy ending”
“What are you talking about?” Hermione asked, she noticed that Lucius had walked in to the room and then quickly exited when he heard what they were talking about “My book?” She was confused “I never got it published, I finished it three weeks ago and then put it in my desk drawer”
“Well” Ginny held out her book “It was published, it even has your penname”
Hermione snatched the book that was dangling from her friends fingers quickly and looked down at it. It was a black book with a full moon in the background on the cover with a woman with long black spiral curls standing profile and seemingly back to back with her was a visibly younger man with sandy brown hair, pale skin and shocking yellow eyes that occasionally changed to light blue looking at the reader. While the male looked young, naïve and a little dangerous with the way the corner of his lips would tilt up the woman managed to look dangerous, scared and in pain. Her brow would crinkle as though her heart was actually breaking, a tear escaped every once in a while and she would look ready to scream. The title was at the top of the cover and it nearly gleamed in the sunlight that was streaming through the window:

“Holy hell” Hermione muttered “I didn’t…I never…”
“I did” Lucius said from the doorway “You’d worked on that book for so long and put so much effort in to making their tale known to so many and then you lost your nerve…so I sent it for you”
“That wasn’t your decision to make” Hermione answered hotly while her friends scampered out of the line of fire “That was my story to either burn or publish…not yours”
“I talked to Remus” Lucius said “He was upset that you weren’t publishing it. Hermione, you are proving to everyone that a Slytherin and a Gryffindor can be in love, that a death eater could love someone and you proved that Bellatrix was innocent…why do you think she crossed over when you started writing the story?”
“I just…” She tried, he moved closer to her and cupped the back of her head leaning down and kissing her.
“I know” He said “But this story…this story needed to be told and I am sure that is why Bellatrix didn’t cross over until you started to write it” He kissed her again “And now look, the book is a hit and people are learning…the minister even pardoned Bella of the crimes that sent her to Azkaban all those years ago because of your book”
“A lot of good that does her now” Hermione muttered.
“But it happened” He said “And everyone knows it now, because of you Hermione” She looked at him “Because of you I’m no longer a hermit, my wife crossed over, I have my grandson and my son gets to watch him grow. Because of you Remus finally knows the truth about the first woman he loved, Bella learned about her only child’s fate and Angel is in the family graveyard where he should have been since his death”
“I just don’t…” Hermione started and he put his finger over her lips.
“Shh” He said and shook his head at her “Don’t you understand how amazing you are?”
“Hermione!” Remus came bounding in laughing and jumping up and down “Lucius!”
“What is it?” Hermione asked “What’s happened?!”
“Dora had my daughter” He announced picking Hermione up in a bear hug and spinning her around “Come on, get Scorpius I want you to be the first to meet her”
A few days later Hermione was sitting in the lab working on a Nutrient Potion for Dora to keep her from losing too much while breastfeeding. They had gotten to the hospital and she held her in her arms and then was shooed out of the room so they could clean up mother and child. It was almost too much and it all happened too fast, there was one thing that she was certain of and that was her name: Angel. It had been Tonks’s idea to name her that, Hermione nearly cried and wished that Bella was there to witness it. Severus had been silent all day, just floating around the lab before settling in a corner and watching her.
“You’re thinking about Bellatrix” Hermione asked “Aren’t you, about how she got to cross over and you haven’t yet”
“Not exactly” Severus answered “She didn’t cross over…though I have been thinking about what she did”
“And what did she do?” Hermione asked, looking at him curiously.
“Bellatrix may have loved a Gryffindor, Miss Granger” He answered “But she was and always will be a Slytherin”
“That answers nothing” Hermione pointed out, putting down the stirring rod and putting a stasis charm on the cauldron.
“Bellatrix didn’t like being a ghost” He said with a smirk “She found a way to fix that” When Hermione looked confused he continued “Don’t you think its odd that she disappeared and magically Tonks becomes pregnant with a female child?”
“Ew” Hermione said “She’s the baby?”
“It’s her soul in the baby” He answered “Brilliant if you think about it” He smirked “I am reminded of the war suddenly, how I was nearly killed when I pulled you out of the way of a deadly curse…” His smile was almost feral.
“So?” She led, there was a sinking feeling in her stomach.
“I do believe that’s a life-debt, Miss Granger” He told her “Wouldn’t you agree?”
“What do you want?” Hermione said even though she was pretty sure she already knew what he was getting at.
“I want to be alive again” He answered and his ghostly hand move to her stomach and there was a tickling feeling all the while her entire body felt like a block of ice “I want you and Lucius to have a baby. I want the childhood that I never had, to experience a life that I only ever got to watch from a distance…you owe me that much”
“But…” She looked at him “You’ll have curly, blonde hair…blue eyes…you won’t look like Severus Snape”
“I will have my own thoughts, feelings and brains” He told her “I will have a decent father and a loving mother…please” Hermione looked at him and bit her lip nervously, she wasn’t sure how Lucius would like this idea but she did owe him.
A/N: I wrote this tonight. I hope you like it, I am in the home stretch of the ending of this story. However, in case you haven’t noticed I am setting the scene for a sequel. PLEASE REVIEW!!!!
