Hermione came to number 12 Grimmauld place tired from her trip both to the ministry and the doctor. She was attending the court to complete the paperwork for her divorce. Since it was mutual the court offered a two week counseling service should the couple want reconciliation. Waiving that offer both Ron and Hermione decided to accept divorce given by the court who did not oppose a mutual request for divorce. She was finally Hermione Granger. It was four weeks ago that they had applied for the divorce and since then she had seen Ron a few times. They kept the news of their divorce hidden from the Weasleys.only Harry and Ginny knew about it. The ministry did not divulge the details until a verdict is given.
Hermione then went to meet Cho who checked her vitals and was glad to tell her that her babies were doing fine but she seemed a bit weak. Draco fussed over her after that scolding her for not eating enough. Hermione laughed at that saying that she was eating like an elephant and was sure that half the groceries bought by Potters was being consumed by her. Draco again asked her if she was comfortable living there. He offered his own flat in London several times to Hermione but she refused.
She knew he had already done enough when Rose had floo called her from the headmistress's office to tell her that she had received an invitation from the University in Cairo to join them as a student. She was given several options and also told that she would be given a full scolarship for her entire three years of study. Hermione was elated to hear the good news but after her talk with her daughter , the headmistress spoke with her alone and told her that she had made enquiries and the University administrative office told her in strict confidence that the scholarship was offered by Malfoy Industries. They were already interested in Rose because of her good grades but when Malfoy industries came forward to offer a full scholarship for Rose in case she was selected, they had selected her immediately.
She opened the door slowly and found the entire place too silent. She thought that maybe both Ginny and Harry were out. She sat on the couch and thought about hervisit to Cho. Draco had given up all pretence to control himself. He unapologetically kept asking Cho limitless questions which Cho answered patiently. She regularly dealt with new fathers and knew their apprehensions very well. Hermione spoke to Cho when Draco went out toget her a snack. She was getting hungry every two hours now. "Cho, is it normal for women to feel erotically charged since the first night of the conception?"
Cho smiled and asked, "are you getting those x rated dreams again?"
Hermione bit her lip and nodded. She then threw a silencing spell around the room and spoke freely, "Ever since I met Draco I have been having these dreams that have him and me very close physically and emotionally. Sometimes I have dreams where we both are in the act of love, sometimes we are in a house and with our children. I can see their faces and I can feel his touch even after I wake up from the dream. Its as if all that in my dream is real and this life is a dream. I can even see the faces of my babies. I just want to know if this is natural or is this some kind of premonition?"
Cho looked at Hermione and asked, "since when exactly did these dreams start?"
Hermione thought for a second and replied, "since I saw Draco in his office. It was the first time me met since the war."
Cho nodded and asked, "So no other dreams have come except for those about Draco and your babies right?"
Hermione nodded. "Hermione, I do not know what or why these dreams are coming because this only happens if the person is dead or if you have....did you by any chance kiss Draco?"
Hermione frowned, "No Cho, I havent been that close to him. We only touch hands or our shoulders the most. But we did almost kiss the first time we met. He slipped that day and I tried to catch him. We fell on the floor and our lips just grazed each other for a moment. I dont think you can call that a kiss."
Cho hmmed and answered, "In that case my advise to you is to kiss Draco as soon as possible to end these dreams."
Hermione laughed, "What kind of advise is that?"
Cho smiled and told her, "I have a theory but that can be proved only if you kiss Draco. So try and do that."
Hermione snorted and replied , "You do know that he is a married man and Astoria is missing."
Cho nodded and told her, "If what I think is the case for you then that detail will mean nothing." Hermione looked at her perplexed and got ready to leave then room.
Hermione stood up to walk towards the dining room to get a glass of water when she heard voices coming from the kitchen. She walked in to see Molly, Arthur, Ginny, Harry, Ron, Fleur, Bill and Ron all standing around and talking. It seemed as if the silencing spell that was cast was down. She did not want to interrupt them and so she sat at the dinning table drinking water from the glass.
Molly spoke the loudest, "I cannot believe muggles have such methods to get pregnant. Immean how can they make a baby outside a woman's womb. That is bigger than magic."
Arthur chuckled and said, "My dear I have been telling you for years now. They are smart blokes. Better than us actually. They can send huge birdshaped tins in air. They are called aeroplanes."
Ron huffed, "Enough of the muggle stuff. Really dad, mom, I just wanted to let you know that Hermione and I have divorced each other and now you know the real reason. Rose and Hugo are both aware of this. Please tell George as well. I will probably sell our house and get a new flat. The money will be divided equally between us. I need some alone time now so please I would appreciate it if you would give me that." They all agreed.
Ginny asked if anyone would like to stay for dinner but they all refused. They began to go through the floo as Hermione stood up to go to talk to Ginny. As she entered the kitchen Arthur saw her and stopped as did Molly. They all walked back to the drawing room and sat around on the couch and arm chairs. Molly hugged her and asked her how she was doing. Hermione smiled and told her that morning sickness had kicked in time and she was taking potions to keep it down. She was also taking vitamins and strengthening potions but they were not helping much. As they spoke Arthur told her that they did not blame her for what had happened. Ginny had explained to them what went wrong at the doctors clinic. Hermione thanked them for hearing her side. Ron was standing miffed at all the attention Hermione was getting. He could no stand to see her pregnant and glowing.
They were in a light hearted conversation while Ron sulked in a corner, when the bell rang. Ginny frowned as people usually flooed or apparated in their home. Only strangers rang the bell. Harry got up and opened the door and was stunned to see Narcissa Malfoy at the door. He was speechless and only her bright good evening brought him out of his trance. He welcomed her in and helped her sit on the couch.
Hermione looked stunned while Molly and she exchanged greetings. They all looked at each other as they greeted Narcissa. She immediately went to hermione and took a small pouch out of her pocket. She enlarged it and showed her the bottled potion inside. She smiled at her and told her,"This is an ancient recipe that was passed on to me by my mother in law when I was pregnant the first time. Sadly I did not use it until I was pregnant with Draco. It is a strengthening potion and will help you bear the weight and the growth demands of the babies. And yes, I know about them. Draco told me and I got so excited. It took me a month to brew it. I have tested it and it is good. I hope you can trust me enough to have it. I know I give you no reason to do so after what had happened at the manor the last time you were there but you must believe me. We were all under duress and Bella was barking mad by that time. If I would have tried to help, my family would have been killed. You are also a mother, you can understand the feeling to protect our kids right?" She looked at Hermione nervously and extended the pouch to her.
Hermione smiled and took it from her, "I will use it. Thank you fo thinking about me. And I think we need to forget the past Mrs. Malfoy. Its been twenty years now. Perhaps we can be friends now." They both shook hands smiling while Ron snorted sarcastically at them.
As Narcissa stood to go the door bell rang again. They all looked at each other surprised. This was new. Harry again opened the door and was surprised again to see Lucius Malfoy standing at his door step. He greeted Harry politely and asked if he could see Hermione Granger. Harry invited him in and they all stared at him while he raisedhis eyebrows not expecting to find so many people here. His expression changed lightly when he saw Narcissa standing there with Hermione. Narcissa raised her eyebrow in question but Lucius ignored it. Finding more guests Ginny asked if everyone would be fine with tea? Everyone agreed. Lucius saw Hermione frown at him and he sat in the empty armchair nearby staring right back.
"I have come her to speak to you personally on behalf of my family. I have something for you and as per Draco you would be opposed to take it but you must. You have to if you want your children to be called a Malfoy." Lucius informed her haugtily.
Narcissa rolled her eyes and unlike her restrained nature she scolded her husband right in front of others, "Lucius, you know how Draco feels about this. It is his perogative to do this and we still dont know about Astoria. He will really be mad at you and I for one will not support you."she put her hands on her hips like Molly usually did when she scolded her children.
Lucius looked scandalized to be scolded like that by his wife as others suppressed their laughter but stood firm, "I am nothing if not a pureblood Narcissa. This is how it is done in our community. So I will do it. I dont see any other way. No one will say Lucius Malfoy did not know his traditions."
He stood up and stood in front of Hermione who stared at him wide eyed. Harry had his hand on his wand while Lucius digged into his pocket in his cloak. He pulled out a small box and asked her, "Miss Hermione Granger, given that you have no parents I have to deal with you directly, so be it. Since you are carrying the future generation of Malfoys, I hereby present to you a bethronement ring as I refuse to have my grandkids to be called illegitimate. Will you Hermione Granger take Draco Malfoy as your bethroned once he is single?" Hermione eyebrows shot upto her head as she realized what Lucius was doing.
