Chapter Eighteen

Aiden was trying to get through his correspondence when the door to Wyatt’s study came open to revel off all people Chris Halliwell, Wyatt’s brother. Aiden was so shocked at the many emotions that ran across Chris’s face that he didn’t say word. He just waited for the other to speak.

“Where’s my brother?” Chris asked as he looked around like Wyatt was going to jump out of the shadows.

“Not in Avalon at the moment. Is there something I can help you with Chris?” Aiden responded as he motioned the other to a seat.

“Maybe, Aiden there‘s something I need to discuss with you.” Chris stated as he took the offered seat. Chris looked at Aiden trying to voice his thoughts. It had been awhile since he’d actually had the time to question the man in front of him. Sometimes Aiden just down right scared him and at others Aiden confused the hell out of him. But Chris knew with what the grapevine was talking, he needed to get Aiden aware of it.

“Well? “ Aiden rolled his eyes as he waited for Chris to say something.

For almost fifteen minutes they sat in silence and Aiden’s patience was reaching his limit. He still had a stack of paperwork to go through and a meeting at the bank. If Chris doesn’t say something. I’m going to snap. Aiden thought as raised a questioning eye brow.

“Aiden I don’t know how to say this.” Chris said as he stared at the man before him.

“Say what! We’ve been having a staring contest for the past fifteen minutes Chris. So if you would say what’s on your mind. I have a meeting in a hour and the paperwork still in front of me?” Aiden announced with a tight smile.

“Fine your confusing. Ok one minute your like this and next your fall into this submissive pattern and it’s confusing.” Chris stated his arms flying in fustration. He always does to me. He thought as he raised his eyes back up to face Aiden.

Aiden blinked. He had no clue where this was coming from. The only time he’d show submissive behavior would be around Wyatt. And that was only when his magic levels were low and in private. Expect that one time, and that was around Severus. At least that’s when he noticed it.

Chris noticed Aiden’s confusion and he really didn’t want to be the one to tell him. But someone needed to bring this to Aiden’s attention, before the wedding. “Damn, look Aiden the other day in the war room. I’m not the only one that noticed your behavior. You came in and commanded the room. Basically told my brother off. Then your magic shifted and went docile as you went toward my brother. Everyone in the room could tell by your magic and your scent changed I’m sure as well.” Taking a deep breath Chris pushed on, he knew Aiden needed to hear this.

“People in Avalon gossip Aiden, a lot. I’m not cut out to take Wyatt’s place. I don’t want it. So as a friend and soon to be a brother. I’m telling you that submissive behavior is fine but not in public.” Chris stopped as he noticed Aiden’s face go cold and calculated.

“Get out Chris.” came the cold voice of Aiden as he narrowed his eyes.

“Aiden, I wasn’t trying to make you angry. Just stating a fact, to be Wyatt’s husband and King Consort of Avalon. You have to be cold and not show emotion’s in public.” Chris stated trying to reason with the man. But when Aiden didn’t respond he stood and left the room.

Aiden was angry. He wasn’t sure if it was at himself for making another mistake, or at Chris for pointing out another of his flaws or both. But he did know he needed to leave for awhile. The Wedding wasn’t for three days, so he figured he could at least take a day or two to think. Shit! He thought as he glanced at the wall clock and noticed he was late for his meeting. So grabbing the rest of his paperwork Aiden teleported out of Avalon.

Leo and the rest of the Halliwell family minus Chris were all in the Royal Conservatory when Wyatt orbed in looking for Aiden. The all looked at each other in question. They didn’t want to tell Wyatt that Aiden and Chris had a moment and Aiden hadn’t been seen since.

“We don’t know Wyatt. Maybe you should ask Chris, he was the last one to see Aiden today. He may know.” Leo stated slowly, he knew the others wouldn’t be able to answer without given something away.

“Ok, I’ll do that. Are you sure none of you know where my companion is?” Wyatt could smell a rat. There was something that didn’t feel right. He always had that feeling when his Dad answer, when everyone was present.

“Not a clue Wy, sorry.” Phoebe answer quickly hoping she didn’t make a blunder.

Wyatt narrowed his eyes. Now he knew something was fishy. “Auntie Paige, how about you. Seen Aiden today?”

“No sorry Wyatt, haven’t seen him.” Paige answered with out looking at Wyatt’s face. Instead she was putting together a puzzle with her son.

They’re good. But I’m better. Wyatt thought before turning to his Mother. “Mama?” Wyatt grinned as he watched the whole family seem to freeze. He knew that calling out to his mother in that way. He’d get the answers that he needed or wanted as the case may be.

Piper closed her eyes, she didn’t think Wyatt would play dirty. But she was wrong. “Yes Wyatt?”

“Have you seen Aiden, since breakfast?”

“No Wyatt, I haven’t seen him since after breakfast. He said he was going to your study to go over paperwork before his meeting with the bank.” Piper answered as truthfully as possible.

“You’re hiding something, Mama.” Wyatt smiled like the cat that got the cream as he moved to his knees in front of his mother.

“Chris went to your study to talk to Aiden before his meeting. He was the last one the see him.” sighed Piper as she then kissed his forehead.

“Thank you Mama.” Was all Wyatt said as he orbed out to look for his brother.

“Good job Piper.” Phoebe hissed at her sister.

“I wouldn’t want to be Chris when Wyatt finds out what was said.” Paige groaned as she held her son.

Piper said nothing just laid her head in her hands. While her husband wrapped his arms around her in comfort.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Wyatt was storming through the castle trying to find his brother. So far he wasn’t having any luck. He’d meet Severus and the Malfoy’s in the odd chance his brother was hiding with them. That was a big NO. And now he was headed for the dungeons, the only place he hadn’t look yet. And didn’t want to go down there until after the wedding. The ones down there were prisoners of war. And he wasn’t feeling very nice towards them still.

“CHRIS, CHRISTOPHER ARE YOU DOWN THERE!” roared Wyatt at the top of the stairs leading to the dungeons.

“Oh Shit!” whimpered Chris in the dungeon office. He didn’t want to deal with his brother right now. He knew that Wyatt had found out Aiden was missing and the he, Chris was the last one to see him.

“My Prince, some advice don’t make him come down here.” Thomas snickered at the Prince’s look of terror. Thomas knew what had happened and the Consort was missing. Avalon had the largest grapevine known to Magical America. If you needed to know something all you had to do was find someone from Avalon.

“CHRISTOPHER, DON’T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE TO GET YOU!”

Chris lowered his head and slowly made his way out of the office. As he was walking he could here the guards humming the walk of death behind him. And the prisoners laughing at his misery. When he was finally at the top of the stairs he winced at the pure anger on his brother’s face.

“What did you say to my Consort, brother-mine?” Wyatt’s voice whispered like ice as he waited for Chris to answer.
