Jan did ask about Edge and if he was going to be paired up with anyone. Honestly, he has not given me the vibe of wanting to be with anyone at this point in time. He is still very much dealing with issues concerning Dante and he just isn't the type to bring that into a relationship - in my profile of him anyway. That being said, he is very much drawn to Sirius and loves spending time with both wolves so who knows what the future holds. I can say that he will not be getting back with Dante.

Harry flitted between trees, over logs, and through bushes. He kept his eyes focused in front of him as he ran. Thundering steps sounded behind him announcing how close his follower was. Heavy breaths sounded in his ears as he was chased.
Despite the chase, Harry felt exhilarated. His focus was sharp on what was in front of him while colors bled together as he flitted past. Harry didn’t so much feel he was running as he felt he was flying. He had not been on a broom for ages. Perhaps, he should look into getting permission to fly some at night.
He heard crunching and growling just ahead of him and to his left. Planting his feet, he came to a sharp stop and was able to jump out of the way. Harry watched the black wolf land on its front feet before another barreled into him. He had momentarily forgotten there were two of them. Damn. He hit the ground with a hard thud and a hissed curse. Thankfully, he was not required to breathe, so despite all air being forced from his lungs, he was still able to plant his feet firmly in the tawny wolfs abdomen and push. The wolf grunted but did not leave its feet. It was; however, distracted enough that Harry was able to squirm free and dart away.
Unfortunately, the black one was waiting for him. It was on him immediately and both went tumbling through leaves and dirt. When they stopped the black wolf pinned him by laying on him completely and using all its weight to hold him down. Harry squirmed and wiggled but the heavy bulk of black fur just would not budge. He glared up into blue eyes that held the glint of mischievous triumph. The wolf grinned at him with a light pant.
“Get off, Cobalt.” Harry squirmed some more. “You’re heavy.”
Cobalt snorted while he rolled his eyes. He did as bid anyway but not before giving Harry’s face a fat lick. Harry grumbled at the wolf wiping his face.
“That was better. Your speed and agility are developing wonderfully. That goes for all of you.”
Harry turned to watch his Sire walk up to them with Moony, who was also panting lightly. Cobalt gave a soft tail wag at the praise. Harry heaved himself up onto his feet and started dusting himself off.
“You need to stop holding back though, Harry.” Edge continued. “I promise you that these two can handle whatever you give them.”
Harry sighed running a hand through his hair that was still damp from his jumping into the lake earlier. It had slowed the two wolfs down but they caught back up to him quickly. “I don’t like the idea of hurting them.”
Cobalt shook out his fur with a chuckle. Moony huffed at him. *You could have easily threw me just then, cub. Could have took us both down long enough for you to successfully keep going.*
“Moony is right.” Edge walked over to his young Childe resting a hand on his shoulder. “I know you have no wish to hurt them but that’s what healing charms and potions are for. I need to know what you are fully capable of to be able to train you to your full potential.”
“I know.” Harry looked at his Sire before looking at both wolves. He still looked very unsure.
Edge stepped back. “They are Guardians, Harry. They are much stronger and much faster than any run of the mill werewolf. They are built to be able to keep up with us and to fight our kind. They heal faster than even we do and can easily out maneuver us as you have experienced.” Edge gave a soft smile. “Don’t let their huge, bulky size fool you.”
Cobalt stretched lowering his front down before switching and stretching out his backs legs. *I can easily keep going, Harry, if you’re up for it?* He teased.
Moony snorted, shaking his head. He sat. *He’s not the least bit tired if he’s making jokes.*
Harry smiled. “And you?”
*Not even winded, cub.*
Edge chuckled in amusement. “That is all good and well but I have another task for you two tonight. I have strategically lead and hidden four humans in the forest that I want you two to find.”
*Easy enough.*
“Don’t get ahead of yourself, Cobalt.” Edge admonished. “The way they have been lead, their scents will intermingle. I also requested they switch articles of clothing to mix up their scents some. Charms were also cast to make it a little harder. Each of you will find two apiece. Moony, you will find Ron and Draco. Cobalt, you will find Hermione and Severus.”
“Wait. You hid my friends in the forest?” Harry grew concerned. He glanced up at the moon shining its light brightly through the trees. “What if something else finds them?”
“I know where each of them is located and can get to them within seconds of their flares.” Edge sent Harry a calm smile. “I would not put your friends in unnecessary danger.”
*Draco Malfoy?* Moony questioned.
*Why Snape?* grumbled Cobalt.
“Draco and I have sort of made friends over the past few months. He offered to help with training stuff when I mentioned it to him.” Harry answered Moony. “He will probably hunker down as a jackal.”
Edge tapped Harry over the head. “No cheating.”
Harry grumbled an apology while Moony chuckled at him.
“Moony, you first. They have been instructed to shoot green sparks when found. I will collect them. Come get their scent.” Edge pulled out two cloths from his pocket and held them out for the tawny wolf. Moony did as instructed, sniffing each one in turn. “They are charmed so scents won’t overlap on the cloth but their scents will be overlapped during your search. I’m curious to know how well you can differentiate between scents.” Once Moony was done, Edge handed to cloths to Harry. “Harry, go with him. Try using your own senses to find them as well but don’t give them away should you find them first. I’m testing the wolves tonight, but will test you eventually.”
Harry sighed at being tested but nodded and left with Moony on their hunt.
Once the pair had disappeared, Edge turned to Cobalt to find the wolf had lain down. His head rested on his front paws but his blue eyes watched the vampire. “Don’t get too comfortable. I imagine it won’t take Moony long.”
Cobalt raised his head. *Do you really want me to be the one to find Snape?*
“Yes.” Edge looked up to watch for sparks. “I have been informed of your little spat, but I also know Severus will be the hardest to find. Moony mentioned to me that it seemed like you could pick up on smells he could not. I want to see just how powerful your sense of smell is.”
*So I’m the true test tonight.*
Edge looked over his shoulder at the wolf. “Yes.”
They sat quietly after that. A few moments later green sparks lit up the sky and Edge took off to return with Ron.
“Blimey.” The red head look queasy as he swayed on his feet. “No offense, but don’t flit with me again, mate. Worse than portkey that was.”
Edge chuckled, giving Ron a pat on the back. “No promises.”
Ron sat down close by Cobalt still looking a bit green. Cobalt looked at Edge.
*That normal?*
“For humans to be nauseous after flitting? Yes, though it really depends on the distance.”
“Yeah, thanks for the heads up.” grumbled Ron under his breath.
More moments passed before more green sparks lit up the sky. It took longer for Edge to return this time. Cobalt had just stood up, concerned, when Harry flitted in closely followed by Edge. The two must have raced as Harry look quite pleased with himself. Moony trotted up a few seconds behind them with a small jackal; tense and shaking, on his back. Silver jumped down the moment Moony was still.
*What happened to him?*
“Edge didn’t warn him how big Moony was.” Harry gave a small laugh while Silver growled at him. “Took me about five minutes to calm him down.”
Silver transformed glowering. “Shut it, Weasel.” He snarled at Ron who was laughing heartily.
“Oh, I wish I could have seen your face, Ferret.”
“Come on guys.” Harry moved to run interference before Ron lost his head if the look Draco wore was anything to go by.
Moony gave an amused huff as he stretched. Edge shook his head in amusement.
“Did you pick up on Severus, Moony?”
*Barely.* Moony shook his head. *These two and Hermione’s scent were quite easy to find though.*
Edge nodded before turning to look at Cobalt.
“Ready to go?”
*Of course*
As Cobalt took in the scents he was to be tracking, Draco decided to head back to the castle, so he wouldn’t be gone long enough to cause questions, while Ron and Harry decided to wait with Moony at Hagrid’s Hut. Ron would go back with Hermione. Harry would wait for Severus. He knew the other man didn’t necessarily need him to wait for him, but Harry wanted to none the less.
Finding Hermione proved to be quite the easy task, just as Moony said. Edge had not lied about mixing their scents together, but Cobalt easily picked out her natural flower scent from the musky scents of the other males. Cobalt continued his search for Snape while Edge returned the girl to her friends.
Snape’s scent was complex. It held multiple potion smells from classes earlier that day, the staleness of the dungeons, his own sandalwood and male musk, and the lingering scent from Harry. It should have been easy to track the man in the forest but Cobalt had a hard time following it. Edge had not lied about Snape being more difficult either. The vampire must have done something to cloud the others scent more than mixing clothes and having them all travel together. Edge had mentioned using charms, he remembered, but there was something else making it harder for him to keep the scent.
Cobalt had no issues finding it. He was quickly able to distinguish it from all the others, but he back tracked multiple times regardless. Cobalt huffed in annoyance. He turned his nose to the air in frustration. There, the smallest hint of sandalwood on the air coming from the lake. On instinct, Cobalt turned in that direction. He kept alternating between scenting the air and the ground. Finally, he was able to pick it up and followed it at a trot. Wait. Cobalt stopped sharply. Gone again. He growled, frustrated.
“Take deep breaths and calm yourself, Cobalt.”
Cobalt jerked and looked back at Edge who had caught back up to him. The vampire gave him an encouraging nod.
“You tracked him this far. Keep going.”
Edge flitted away again but Cobalt knew the vampire was staying close by. He could smell him. Wait. He scrunched his snout in confusion turning back into the direction he was originally headed. The vampires scent was coming from two different directions. It was fainter from this way but there. Edge said he knew where each of the four was so he had to have been with them when they hid. He stepped forward a few steps before scenting the ground. Yes, the vampire had come this way previously. Cobalt breathed deeply focusing on the subtleties he was picking up; the forest, the lake, sharp sweetness from the vampire himself, Harry’s friends, and (yes!) sandalwood.
Cobalt followed the trail slowly making good progress until he came across a small stream. It was wide enough across that he lost the scent again. He huffed but started checking up and down stream. Sure enough he picked it back up a couple feet downstream and continued on staying fully focused on the small amount of sandalwood that waxed and waned as he went. Only Edge and Snape had come this far. Edge had kept Harry’s friends toward the front of the forest where they were less likely to be bothered. Cobalt wondered if Harry would have relaxed if he knew Snape was deeper in.
He eventually came to a small cluster of trees and paused. Snape’s scent coated the area, muted only by the soft breeze bringing up the scent of the lake not a mile from him. Cobalt shook his head moving around the trees. The fresh scent of sandalwood coated his sense of smell but then so did Edge’s sticky sweetness. Was Snape close by or was this another test he needed to work himself out of?
Snap.
Cobalt jerked around alert. His ears stood straight and forward taking in any sound. Blue eyes were sharp as they watched for any sign of movement in the dark beyond the trees. He breathed through his nose silently. He could smell nothing besides Snape, Edge, and forest. The wind blew softly in his face. He took a few soft steps forward lowering his head. The faint smell of new sweat and nervousness reached his nose. He narrowed his eyes. Oh, was he going to have fun.

Severus froze immediately when he heard the twig snap under his foot. He closed his eyes and cursed mentally not daring to even breathe lest he be heard. He was in no true danger and yet his heart hammered in his chest.
When Edge had first come to him asking for his help with his foolish little game, Severus has naturally declined. It was the thought of Black not being able to find him and being able to rub it in the mutts face that eventually had him agreeing. Severus should have known his luck would not pan out how he wished it to.
He opened his eyes as he breathed out silently. Moving slowly he turned to look around the large tree he was behind. Cobalt was gone. Severus had not even heard the wolf move. Surely something that big would have made a sound as it moved over the leaves of the forest floor. Severus swallowed not yet daring to relax. He turned back to look around the other side of the tree only to come nose to nose with the wolf in question. He froze. Obsidian eyes connected with narrowed bright blue. Cobalt took in a deep breath before he snorted in Severus’ face.
Severus flinched, cursed, and stumbled back tripping on one of the large roots sending him to the ground. He quickly righted himself and glared at the dark wolf that…was…stalking him? Cobalt had his head lowered and eyes narrowed as he stepped slowly closer. The look in the wolfs face had Severus shivering involuntarily. Severus sneered as he moved to stand but Cobalt pinned him down before he could. A large paw sat heavily against his chest. Severus could feel the sharpness of the claws against his collarbone. There was no doubt that the wolf could easily crush his sternum without effort.
“Let me up, Black.” Severus demanded glaring stubbornly up at the wolf. He was not afraid, damn it. Black wouldn’t dare harm him. The man cared for Harry too much. Not to mention Edge had his own protectiveness over him as odd as that was.
Cobalt huffed and lowered his blocky head closer. The wolf snuffled at his neck just under his ear. Each huff was warm and damp making Severus curl his nose and grumble in disgust.
“Let him up, Cobalt.”
Cobalt looked over his shoulder at Edge. Severus lifted his head as much as he could from his position. Edge stood just a few steps away watching them calmly.
Edge suddenly laughed. “Yes, I know, but it was the best way to test how well you could smell. Harry will understand I am sure.”
“Do you mind?” Severus growled out annoyed at the two for having a conversation he could not fully understand, although he could guess, while he was still pinned.
Cobalt looked back down at him. The wolf rolled its eyes before moving away from him. Severus stood using his wand to spell his, well, Edge’s clothes free of debris.
“Do I want to know?”
Edge looked at him with an almost sheepish, somewhat apologetic, mostly mischievous smile. How could so many emotions fit on the mans face at one time? “Cobalt was only mentioning that my scent being all over yours would upset Harry. I may have went a little over board trying to hide you.”
“Lovely.” Severus drawled. He briefly wondered if jumping in the lake would help but he seriously doubted it. Plus it was still cold enough that he didn’t really want to attempt it. It now made sense why Edge had made him not only wear his clothing, but also rubbed his wrists over his pulse points. He wanted to trip up Blacks nose. Harry was going to freak.
“Ready to get back?”
Severus looked at Edge. Cobalt had moved to stand beside the vampire. “I’ll walk thanks.” He had absolutely no interest in being flitted anywhere.
Cobalt snorted. Edge gave the wolf a look before turning back to Severus. “It is a full moon, Severus.”
“And from the sounds of it I need to air out a bit.” Severus glared at the two before walking past them toward the castle.
Severus walked a short while before mild rustling caught his attention. He turned to find Cobalt walking behind him and Edge nowhere to be found.
“What are you doing?”
Cobalt arched an ear and tilted his head. Even though Severus couldn’t understand words it was clear the wolf thought the answer was obvious. Severus took a deep calming breath to ease his irritation before continuing on, his new shadow following a few steps behind. Seriously, just because he was human did not mean he could not protect himself.
They came upon the small clearing that held the Whomping Willow. Severus paused to take in the castle over the tree line. The moon shone down bathing everything in a glowing light creating even darker shadows in the trees ahead. A soft breeze ghosted through blowing his hair enough that the ends tickled his cheeks. Severus took note of Cobalt stepping up beside him from the corner of his eyes. Cobalt was just a few scant centimeters from being shoulder to shoulder with him. It was intimidating, though Severus would never say so out loud.
Severus jumped when Cobalt suddenly growled stepping around in front of him. His ears were back and just showing teeth. Severus looked to the side, were the wolf was looking, in confusion and alert pulling his wand. Golden eyes stared out from the tree line too low to be another werewolf or Moony. Slowly, a white figure stepped out just enough to show its much smaller wolf form. Dante. Severus felt himself tense. So the vampire was still around was he?
Dante did nothing, just stood still and watched them a few moments. Severus was unsure if he was talking with Cobalt or not. The dark wolf in question never moved but his growls did deepen slightly as his head lowered more. Dante gave a snort like sneeze as though he was clearing his nose. He made eye contact with Severus. Severus felt a chill run down his spine as the gold eyes stared into his own. He tightened his grip on his wand. Dante blinked, then turned, and disappeared deeper into the forest.
“What the hell was that about?” Severus breathed.
Cobalt raised his head with a snort. He turned around and nosed Severus with force. Severus stumbled to the side barely catching himself from falling. He whipped back around to glare at Cobalt.
“What the hell, Black?”
Cobalt did it again, not as hard, but still hard enough the Severus was pushed back a few steps. Cobalt huffed a growl for good measure. When the wolf moved to nose him again, Severus stabbed him in the nose with his wand to push his head back. Cobalt shook his head and glared.
“I am not a child to be pushed and herded, Black.”
The two continued to glare at one another. Cobalt conceded first with an irritated growl. He stepped around Severus still glaring and making grumbling noises. To add insult he smacked his tail in Severus’ face. Severus spluttered trying to wipe fur out of his face. Anger filled him and grew as he picked up on the deep, growl like sniggers coming from the wolf behind him. With a sneer he turned and flung a stinging hex at the wolfs backside.
The yelp that left the huge wolfs throat sounded high and very puppy like. It did not match such a huge animal and it made Severus smirk in amusement even as said wolf turned on him with obvious rage. Teeth bared, eyes narrowed into slits, and ears flat on his head, Cobalt stalked back toward Severus with anger filled growls. Severus lost his smirk as he swallowed making sure to keep his wand trained on the large irate wolf in front of him.
“You asked for that, Black, but give me a reason.” He sneered.
It was not lost on him that he should, technically, be more afraid of angering Cobalt, especially tonight of all nights. The moon made those blue eyes glow even more than they usually did. He wasn’t though. It was like he knew the wolf would not dare harm him despite clearly being able and wanting to.
“Seriously? Can you two not be left alone for any amount of time?”
Both turned to find Edge, Moony, and Harry coming out of the tree line toward them. They came from the direction of the castle, most likely from Hagrids. Edge was glaring softly at them in disappointment. Harry flitted over to Severus but was watching his godfather. Cobalt was looking over at Edge.
Edge took on a curious look. “I see.” He looked at the direction his Sire had left in. “I’m curious myself. I was not aware that Dante had stuck around but I’ll look into it.” Sadness was trying to creep into his eyes.
Severus wondered what was going on between the two vampires. It almost seemed as though Dante was avoiding his Childe suddenly, but why? Severus was distracted from his thoughts by Harry who had obviously caught onto Edge’s scent being all over him. He was currently rubbing his face over his wrists giving them small licks. Severus grumbled even as he felt small tendrils of heat spread through him. He pulled his wrist away to Harry’s frustration.
Stop it.
Harry stepped closer with a slight glare at the clothes Severus was wearing. His eyes had swirls of gold in them signaling his frustration. I don’t like his scent on you. Harry shook his head as though trying to clear his head. It’s too thick. I hate it.
Harry’s fists clenched at his sides in an obvious attempt to keep himself from grabbing Severus then and there. Severus felt proud of the vampire for having learnt some control over himself, as tenuous as it was.
“Severus.”
The Potions professor looked over just in time to catch a bundle of robes that had been thrown at him. He looked to Edge questionably. The vampire in question was turning away with a smirk. The two wolves had apparently been sent away while he had been focused on Harry.
“I grabbed those for you. They are charmed to only have your scent on them.” Edge winked. “Have fun.”
Severus glared at the spot the vampire flitted from. The bastard had planned this he was sure.
“Severus.”
Harry’s voice sounded desperate. Severus looked to find Harry gritting his teeth and his body taunt like a pulled bowstring. It was clear the young vampire was struggling with his control. Severus felt warm when those golden swirled green eyes peered up at him. Severus knew he could ask Harry to go and he would; would probably flit away so fast that smoke would be left in his wake, but Severus found himself wondering just how far the brat would go to get his Sires scent off of him. The images produced, of Harry rubbing against him, of that tongue making wet paths on his skin made Severus’ heart race and his stomach do funny flops even as his blood decided it wanted to just travel south. They were in the forest though and by hell was Severus doing any of the above in the Shrieking Shack. He took a deep breath to calm his heated nerves.
“If you can wait until we are back in the castle, in my rooms, then you may remove your Sire’s scent from my person. Agreed?”
Heat filled the vampires eyes as gold completely encompassed the green. “Deal, but…” Harry stepped closer nosing at Severus chin. “I flit us there.” He breathed.
Severus closed his eyes and groaned. This was probably not going to be his best idea but so be it. “Fine.”
