Severus sat in his office later that evening, with images of Salia Halberstram swimming in his mind. He had to marvel at the way she hadn't aged a day, yet it really didn't surprise him, as her type never really seemed to age beyond twenty years. His emotions at the moment were a wreck. No, of course he wasn't going to take the evil woman back as Adrien had asked. He had no intention of it, but he knew if he wasn't careful, and Salia kept coming around for the week that she was to remain, she had the capability to ensnare him all over again.

Meanwhile, Hermione stood once again at the edge of the lake, this time with Luna and Adrien.

She watched him thrust rock after rock over the water's surface, clearly still angered at the day's events. Adrien hadn't been in class for the remainder of the Friday, and she sensed it was because he was too distraught to study.

"Adrien, what is she? I know she isn't a human." Hermione dared to pry.

Adrien sighed as he bent to search the darkened ground for another suitable rock to fling.

"What makes you think she isn't human?" he asked.

"Adrien, I could feel her evil. It was the most evil thing I've ever experienced. It was right up there with Voldemort's Horcruxes. It was chilling." she said, taking a seat on the ground next to Luna who smiled sadly.

"Well, you've got me there, Hermione. I suppose I'll let you and Luna in on it. No reason to lie, after all. My fucking evil mother is a Seraphim. Only other one I've known to exist." Adrien began.

"Like an Angel?" Luna asked dreamily.

"No, not like an Angel. That's more along the lines of tragic muggle belief. The type of Seraphim that Salia is is like you said, Hermione, evil. So evil in fact that no one really knows where she came from. She could have been regurgitated right from the mouth of a proverbial Hell for all we know." Adrien went on.

"So she's comparable to a Demon then..." Hermione mused. "What do you think her intentions are? And why is she here after so long?"

"She's not a Demon. Demons are ugly and though deceitful as she is, a Serphim's duty is to ensnare those they are ordered to. For the first five years of my life she served the Dark Lord as a type of leash for my father. Though, when he started to realize entirely what she was, he was able to get away, and she didn't like that she had lost control over him, so she left and went into hiding. Of course, after she shagged loads of other wizards." Adrien added before he sent another rock sailing over the water.

"So Severus only thought he was in love with her, and when he found out what she was, her hold was broken?" Hermione asked.

"Yes, basically. Salia is very witty, but my father is no fool. Smartest man I've ever known, he is. He started doing research on supposedly "mythical" beautiful creatures, and came across a description for a Seraphim. Much like Vampires, they have the power to seduce, use, and deceive their charges into believing they love them, when in reality, a Seraphim is incapable of loving. They are the epitome of a beautiful evil." Adrien said as he threw an overly large rock into the water, causing a loud splash.

The three jumped as they heard a screeching sound over the surface of the darkened water off in the distance. Apparently one of the Merpeople had finally had enough.

"Fuck you!!!" Adrien shouted, picking up another rock. Hermione and Luna had to laugh at his antics, despite the nature of the conversation at hand.

"So... You're part Seraphim..." Hermione mused. No wonder Adrien was so good at being tactful and only played games that were in favor to his mindful strengths. Severus, plus a Seraphim, was quite the wicked combination. Yet, she had to be thankful that he wasn't the type to deceive. Adrien was sweet. He must have gotten that from his father.

"Yes, Hermione. I am a Serphim as well. Only cool thing about it, is that I probably will not age any more than I have. My 20th birthday will mark the end to my aging."

"So is your love for me false then?" Luna asked in a teasing manner, staring up at him with her big dreamy blue eyes.

Adrien turned to her and smiled sadly. "Of course not my dear. My love for you is as pure as pure can be. I do have the capability to love, unlike her." he said.

"Well that's a relief." she laughed lazily.

"Adrien's loved you forever Luna. I can definitely attest to that, as I have told you before." Hermione reassured her.

She pressed on to question Adrien. "So... Your power... Are you capable of the things she is potentially capable of?"

"Not likely... I've not ever felt a shred of my humanity failing." he replied as he thrust yet another rock over the surface.

"Sarcasm, snarky attitude, the ability to love... for the most part, I've received all of my father's traits. And for that, I'm glad." he said, bending to find another rock.

"So how did it happen?" Hermione asked.

"How did what happen?" Adrien strained out as he sent another rock sailing.

"How did they meet? I mean... How did she possess him to marry her?" Luna asked.

"Well, it's simple isn't it? She was put up to it. He was 20 years old when they met. It was shortly after Lily Potter had married James Potter, so the man was entirely too vulnerable for his own good. As you well know,-" Adrien paused as he flung yet another rock.

Hermione and Luna looked to one another and silently decided they would join in with him. They both rose from their sitting positions, and began searching for suitable prospects.

"He loved Lily Potter with every ounce of his soul. However, one evening at one of the many gatherings that the Dark Lord had summoned him to, he found a very striking woman sitting amongst the other men and women. She was different looking than all the others. Yes, she was dark, but she wasn't dirty like the rest. I mean, of course, you saw her, she's no Bellatrix Lestrange." Adrien explained.

Hermione shuddered.

He pressed on.

"It was her scent that he noticed first,-"

"Yes, I noticed that as well... What is that pefume?"

"Not a perfume. A Serphim emits a sort of "essence" if you will, that is designed to drive men, and some women who are prone to it, crazy with an insatiable thirst for the Seraphim. He tells me he didn't know it at first, but she had silently coerced him to take her home with him, and then long story short, they were married a year later, and she was already pretty far along in her pregnancy with me." Adrien said, as he bent again to search for another rock.

"So why did she sleep with all the other men?" Hermione asked, confused.

Adrien shrugged. "You see, a Serphim feeds off of people's desire. Sort of like how a Dementor feeds upon happiness. Yet, I reckon the slag in her caused her the most to do it. That's all it comes down to, really, she's an evil fucking slag." he strained out as he tossed the rock.

"Did she knew that Professor Snape's allegiance wasn't entirely with the Dark Lord?" Luna asked as she gently tossed a rock into the water.

Adrien watched her adoringly.

"I don't believe so... I mean, he's always kept his mind shielded, and he has never been loose lipped. As alluring and beautiful as her scent may be to some, if not most, it's not as if it acts as a truth serum." Adrien explained. "To sum it up, she was put up to it, married him, they had me, he figured her out, she left. Simples."

"But why on earth is she here now?" Hermione asked, confused.

Adrien shrugged again before he launched another rock.

"I reckon she genuinely thinks she can ensnare him again. I expect she's bored, and looking for another challenge now that the Dark Lord is no more." he explained.

"That is just plain evil.." Hermione mused incredulously. Hadn't Severus been put through enough?

"So... I don't mean to make this about me, but... What should I do?" she asked.

"Well... It is rumored that when a true love is attainable, (which was definitely not the case with Lily Potter,) then a person can resist a Seraphim to the ends of the earth. I reckon you need to hold onto him as tightly as you can, and do your best to make him feel your love. It might be the only thing that can save him from her this time round." Adrien mused sadly.

Hermione glanced nervously at Luna, as they spoke so openly about her candid relationship with Severus.

"I've already told Luna everything. No need to fear." Adrien assured her.

"Yes, your secret is safe with me, Hermione. I think it's quite lovely, to be honest." Luna mused as she gently tossed a few pebbles into the water. Hermione was instantly relieved.

So this is what she had to do. It was up to her once again to save Severus from another fate.

"Yes, it is, Hermione. It is up to you. So don't fuck it up. For all our sakes." Adrien teased her with a laugh, in spite of his earlier discomfort.

"But Adrien, if it's hard to resist a Seraphim, then why hasn't she coerced you into being happy about her reappearance?" Hermione asked, confused.

"Seraphims can resist other Seraphims, Hermione. She has no effect on me. But she could potentially regain power over him if he's not careful. Which I know he is, and it will be difficult for her this time around since he knows exactly what she is. However, I suspect that's half the appeal to her return. Like I said, it's the challenge." Adrien said.

"On your end of this, Hermione, it's going to be a hard feat. But if you love him, make him see it, and you will be victorious in this endeavor. So again, please don't fuck it up." he teased her again.

Hermione sighed; her heart heavy with knowing what was to come. She decided she would go to him tonight. The girl was overdue for his touch after all, and she figured he might enjoy the company to keep his mind off of the beautiful, ensnaring form of Salia Halberstram.
