Last Time:
“Fuck.” Draco hissed under his breath as he and Vincent just stood frozen at the sight of several large acromantulas scuttling around the treetops ...

Pair by pair the students entered the forest, but despite being told to observe the surroundings for creatures no one saw what watched them. The many creatures, actually. Dozens of fluffy paws snuck quietly around the forest path and many sharp eyes watched the students like hawks or, to be more precise, kneazles.
Knowing Peter’s worries for the Slytherins and that two particular Gryffindors were enemies, two kneazles paid close attention to the first two sets of Slytherins. The Slytherins seemed fine, but it was the known enemies, Ron and Hermione, that acted odd enough to attract the attention of many golden eyes. The weirdest activity being when Hermione paused and, while thinking they weren’t being watched, pulled a bag out of her pocket. She shook the bag and a branch, that was way too big for the bag, fell out. As she did this Ron put on some gloves and tossed a green tie on the ground. With a quick spell to make some roots hold the branch the two Gryffindors continued walking down the path as if nothing happened.
One magical feline went after the two Gryffindors. The other kneazle ran ahead. The reason was to check on those first two teams of Slytherins. After quickly confirming the first Slytherins were ok the kneazle returned. After all, someone had to watch the suspicious branch. Unfortunately, there was no time to stop what happened next …
The kneazle’s gold eyes widened as it saw Draco and Vincent touch the branch and suddenly vanish. It took off running and examined the spot. The branch remained, but the boys were gone. There was no doubt it was a trap so the feline laid across the path to stop anyone else from falling for the trap and let out a sharp meow.
“What was that-“ the kneazle growled at the two Slytherins, Blaise and Greg, who were the next to walk down the dense forest path. Both young wizards recognized the kneazle and were surprised it was there at all, but the situation soon dawned on them. Something was very wrong. “Draco and Vincent were in front of us …” Blaise asked, feeling a sinking feeling when more kneazles, one with a rat riding its back, quickly assembled on that spot.
“Yeah … this isn’t good.” Greg said as the kneazle that stopped them jumped up and started meowing at the rat.
The rat suddenly shifted into its human form after talking with the kneazles, “Which branch is the portkey?!” Peter exclaimed frantically.
“Portkey?” Blaise gasped not liking the sound of that at all. “What’s going on?” He asked as the first kneazle took Peter to a long branch.
Instead of answering he focused on the branch, “Shit …” he hissed clearly upset at whatever he saw. “You two should double back now! Get all the other Slytherins behind you and follow the kneazles into the forest-“
Greg paled, “What happened to the first teams?”
“It’s not them …” Peter trailed off as a thought occurred to him. “He’s separating you guys … there’s no time for this! Go now! I need to help Draco and Vincent!” He snapped making sure the students ran off as ordered. “Please be alive.” He whispered as changed a stick into a note saying ‘Watch Harry, portkey danger, trap’ and gave it to one kneazle. “Make sure Alecto and Amycus get this and watch Harry!” He said before taking off into a run, but with one addition. He removed his shirt and wrapped up the offending branch to take with.
Only seconds passed before he got deep enough into the forest to safely apparate away. Peter nearly knocked Rabastan over as he was racing to the potion room. The thud of something heavy being placed on the counter followed by the clatter of vials shocked the mind healer out of his stunned silence.
“Peter, what’s going? I finished with Sirius today so catch me up.” Rabastan exclaimed as he ran into the potion room where he saw a branch in a shirt on the counter and a half naked Peter searching the potions.
Peter found a flask of what he apparently needed and gently moved it over to a set of empty vials, “Grab me a bottomless bag while I summarize. The test was rigged, as expected. The Slytherin and two Gryffindor teams were at the end, but only Slytherins who aren’t related to Death Eaters were conveniently put first and followed up by Weasley and Granger.” He explained as he very carefully dispensed the dark red potion in the flask amongst ten empty vials.
“Dumbledore wanted Harry and Tom last then, I take it. A possible attack or frame up on those with Death Eater connections.” Rabastan commented as he got one of the spare bottomless bags and held it as Peter put the vials in.
“Exactly.” Peter said while still focusing as much as he could on the potion he was splitting up. “That branch was set up with a Slytherin tie as a trap by Granger and since it was right after the the first Slytherins-“
“The first person would immediately assume a fellow Slytherin lost it. Who is in danger?” Rabastan asked.
“Everyone is either fine or on their way here … except Draco and Vincent.” Peter said with only a subtle pause in his task revealing his distress. “Send an owl for me.” He said before putting the last vials in the bag, taking the bag, summoning exactly one broom to put in the bag and running over to the branch.
Rabastan saw Peter get portkeyed away by the branch out of the corner of his eye as he ran out of the room and up to the owlery. “Who is the bravest owl?” His eyes landed on the snowy white owl called Hedwig. “I need you to pick up Peter.” He ordered the owl who flew off to the place Rabastan told her.
It was easy to deduce where Peter meant. After all, Dumbledore had a habit of using one particular place to link his portkeys to. The deadly nest that nearly killed Barty and Bellatrix years ago. He just prayed Draco and Vincent wouldn’t be killed there like many of Dumbledore’s victims.

Draco paled as he stood transfixed on the massive spiders crawling down towards them, “I can’t apparate.” He hissed to Vincent pointing out that they weren’t only trapped in a lethal nest, but also in a barrier. “Don’t move. Cover me.”
“What-“ Vincent blinked in shock at the request. After all, this seemed like a good time to run, but then he saw Draco drawing a circle of runes around them with his wand. “I see … they’re coming.” He said as he drew his own wand and tried to keep track of the closest giant eight legged creatures. The only good thing was that the acromantulas didn’t seem to know that they were there yet and were just taking a stroll, but if they didn’t think of something soon they will be spotted.
“Sorry.” Draco mumbled as he moved a skull aside to continue the sequence.
Vincent stiffened as a massive acromantula suddenly dropped down to the first floor out of nowhere, “I really doubt they’re in a position to care about you moving their skulls. Not like they’ll complain.” Vincent hissed not really in the mood to feel concerned about how the dead people feel. He really just wanted to avoid joining the skeleton collection. “Hurry up!” Vincent exclaimed just as the most restless acromantula seemed to notice them.
Draco used a sharp bone to cut his finger and let a drop of blood land on the runes he made with his wand, “We’ll be safe for now. They can’t see us, but I couldn’t do the entire sequence so don’t speak too loudly.” He whispered.
Vincent looked at the acromantulas and sighed in relief when they seemed to be a bit confused as if they lost sight of their target, “Perfect timing … what rune is this?” He asked not recognizing the barely arm width wide rune circle that surrounded them.
“It’s part of a rune sequence my father showed me … it was the rune that trapped Gellert Grindelwald.” Draco said solemnly as his eyes scanned the web and spider filled canopy. “Where are they?”
The dark haired Slytherin gripped his wand firmly as the large acromantulas closest to them crept closer to investigate, “Let’s worry about ourselves first.” He winced at the sharp look Draco sent him and sighed. “Too much time passed, Draco. If they were sent here like us then chances are they’re up there and were already injected with venom …” Vincent said sadly looking up at the little up at the web covered bundles stuck in the webs. “I don’t like saying it, but if they’re up there then they’re dead . If not, then there’s still nothing we can do if we have no escape route-“
Both trapped wizards paled as a slightly gray acromantula suddenly landed right next to them. The massive fuzzy thorax rose above them as the long limbs moved around the wizards. It was clear the acromantula sensed them for its fangs came out despite not seeing them.
“Prey is here. Yes …” The acromantula groaned and in anticipation of a meal it fluffed its fur letting the painful hairs fly out. Both wizards covered their faces desperate to protect their eyes from the hairs, but as a result they didn’t see the large drop of venom drip from the left fang.
Vincent immediately looked up when he heard Draco cry out in pain, “Shit.” He hissed the second he saw that the acidic venom hit the back of his friend’s neck and was quickly burning it. He quickly pulled Draco down and against him to muffle the pained scream and wipe away the venom before it did any major damage.
To the trapped wizards’ horror those slight sounds startled the acromantula over them and its leg snapped down as it jumped. Vincent had to bury his face in Draco’s back to stop his own scream as the giant spider’s leg actually stabbed his own leg. Searing pain from their wounds and now the pain as acromantula hairs worked their way into their eyes nearly broke them. It took everything they had to not make any more noise. Their lives depend on it …

Alecto nudged her brother as a kneazle rushed up to them, “A note. It’s from Peter.” She said as she took the note and opened it.
“Portkey huh …” Amycus murmured as he glanced up from their hiding spot in the forest to look at the students who did make it back to Hogwarts. “Let’s go find Harry and Tom.” He whispered. The twins easily raced towards the deeper parts of the forest path and quickly noticed something as they back tracked. “Only the first two Slytherin teams are accounted for …” he said worriedly as he glanced down at the kneazle following them.
The kneazle gave an unconcerned mew and Alecto hummed, “Not our job?” She asked, getting a nod from the kneazle. It was clear that they had to focus on Harry and Tom first and find out the rest later.
“Wait!” Amycus yelped as a spell zipped passed his head. The twins grabbed their wands and stayed low as they moved quickly down the path.
Alecto gasped as she saw the very Slytherins, including Draco actually firing spells at Harry and Tom who were taking cover behind a tree, “What in Merlin’s name?” She exclaimed, very confused by the strange actions of the young witches and wizards she knew so well. The angry hiss of several kneazles startled them and the twins saw a kneazle get a lucky claw in this Draco’s eye. “Golems. Good ones too.” She hissed when she saw the unusually tiny amount of blood for such a wound and complete lack of pain.
Harry and Tom seemed to have noticed the same incident and quickly took the offensive. The twins were about to jump in to help, but that’s when a cloaked figure ran up to Harry. Without a second thought the figure blasted the Draco golem to bloody chunks much to the other wizards’ horror. Fake Draco or not that’s not something you want to see.
“Stay away from Harry! Filthy Death Eaters!” The cloaked person screamed almost hysterically. Slightly mad he may have been, but no one was willing to stop the ruthless wizard as long as he helped remove the golems. Unfortunately, after the golems were gone he spotted Alecto and Amycus. “Death Eater scum! You killed him!”
Harry, of course, stepped forward to help the twins, but ‘Sam’ stopped him, “They can handle themselves. We need to be careful about what someone might see.” Tom said pointing out that Dumbledore might be watching. A hint Vesta, who was hiding in Harry’s pocket at this point, took to heart and right on cue a thick fog surrounded them.
The absolutely furious unknown wizard wasn’t fazed by the fog and started blasting the Carrow twins with spells. They gave as much as they got and Alecto managed to blast the hood clean off the wizard’s cloak revealing an enraged Remus Lupin ...
