Pettigrew's Betrayal Unearthed

Piccolo sighed as he stroked Buckbeak’s feathers, today was Buckbeak’s last day and it was something Piccolo was not looking forward to. He had tried to convince the headmaster to spare the Hippogriffs life, but the Headmaster said that the decision was absolute and he had no power over the Minister's decision. Buckbeak let out a small coo then nudged his knee and looked at him. Piccolo smiled softly then reached over and grabbed one of the hanging ferrets and gave it to Buckbeak who ate it eagerly then clicked its beak in thanks. Piccolo glanced up a bit from under his hood as he saw Harry, Hermione and Ron approach the hut. He watched as they looked at him warily then they entered the hut. From the open window, Piccolo could hear their conversations very easily.

“You know that Piccolo is out there right Hagrid?” Hermione had asked Hagrid.

Piccolo heard Hagrid sigh “Yeah, I know. Piccolo and Buckbeak grew close so I didn’t want to deny the boy a last chance to spend some time with Buckbeak before…” Hagrid faded off a bit at the thought of Buckbeak’s death.

Piccolo half-listened to the next conversations, he mainly focused on the emotions he was receiving telepathically through his and Buckbeak’s temporary link. Buckbeak could tell that Piccolo was distressed and sad about something so he tried his best to try and cheer him up by making small noises and nudging him fondly.

A couple minutes later, Piccolo and Buckbeak jolted as Goku suddenly appears beside them. Piccolo growled at him and Buckbeak squawked in annoyance. “Don’t do that Goku! Neither Buckbeak nor myself enjoy being surprised like that!”

Goku laughed and scratched his head “Sorry Piccolo! I really don’t mean too but I noticed you were near Hagrid’s hut and that’s where I wanted to go. It’s easier to latch onto higher power levels when I Instant Transmition.”

Piccolo sniffed and raised an eyebrow; he smelled Draco Malfoy on the Saiyan. Piccolo decided it was a conversation for another time. He sighed then stood up and dusted off his clothes “Let’s go inside.” he touched Buckbeak’s forehead and Buckbeak nudged his palm and clicked his beak happily.

Goku and Piccolo walked into the hut and Goku stared in surprise as Hagrid handed Ron his rat. “Ron! Scabbers is alive!” everyone in the room mentally face palmed while Piccolo pinched the bridge of his nose and groaned quietly.

Hagrid chuckled at Goku then looked back to Ron “Keep a closer eye on your pets Ron.”

Goku and Piccolo watched as Hermione walked up to Ron angrily “I think you owe someone an apology.”

Ron looked at Hermione in annoyance “Right, next time I see Crookshanks I’ll let him know.”

Hermione narrowed her eyes “I meant me!”

Piccolo’s ear twitched as he heard a small sound then shot out his hand and caught something in it. He pulled his hand back and opened it; it was a small spiral patterned rock. Piccolo glanced at Goku who was looking at the rock in confusion as well.

“Where…?” Goku looked up at Piccolo then looked as Harry let out a short yelp of pain and grabbed at the back of his head.

“Hagrid!” Exclaimed Harry as he looked out the window.

Piccolo and Goku turned as they felt 3 power levels approaching. “Oh crikey…” muttered Hagrid “It’s late, it’s nearly dark. You shouldn’t be here.“ Hagrid hurried away to tidy up his hut “Someone sees you outside the castle, you’ll be in trouble.” he pointed at Harry “Particularly you Harry!” he grabbed a blanket as a loud banging could be heard from the door “Be with you in a moment!” Hagrid called out.

Goku and Piccolo glanced at each other as the trio rushed out the back door. Piccolo and Goku followed the trio to the door but Piccolo turned back “Hagrid.” Hagrid looked at Piccolo who had a serious and determined look on his face “It’ll be fine.”

Hagrid smiled softly then waved his hand and said quietly but rushed “Go on, go on!”

Piccolo nodded then went to the door and he and Goku followed the trio out the back to the oversized pumpkins. Piccolo narrowed his eyes as he heard Fudge speak:

“It is the decision of the Committee for the Disposal of Dangerous Creatures, that the Hippogriff Buckbeak, hereinafter called ‘The Condemned’, shall be executed this day at sundown.”

Piccolo growled and sunk his claws into the large pumpkin in front of him. Goku was staring with narrowed eyes at the open window, his hands balled into fists. The two aliens were so upset and focused on what Fudge was saying, they ignored the snap of a branch behind them that startled the three Earthlings.

As the five students ran away, Piccolo looked back at Buckbeak who looked after them curiously, then went back to resting its head on the small pumpkin it had. When they got to the top of the hill, Goku took hold of Piccolo’s hand as the Namekian started to make a Ki ball to throw at the raised ax. Piccolo looked down at Goku’s hand that enclosed his own then looked down the hill to the pumpkin patch.

When the ax came down and the birds rushed away from the spot, Piccolo and Goku flinched. While Hermione cried into Ron’s neck, Piccolo and Goku blinked in confusion; Buckbeak wasn’t there to begin with. Piccolo looked at Goku and was about to ask what he thought of the situation, but Ron let out a yell of pain as Scabbers bit his finger.

“He bit me! Scabbers!” Ron turned around and chased after his rat.

“Ron! Wait!” yelled Hermione as and Harry chased after Ron. Goku and Piccolo glanced at each other then ran after the trio.

“Scabbers, you bit me!” yelled Ron when he caught the rat near the base of a tree.

“Guys!” Hermione gasped “You realize what tree this is?”

Piccolo and Goku looked at the two then at the tree in confusion as Harry yelled for Ron to run. The two aliens sensed another being near them and turned around as Ron yelled for them to run as well.

“It’s the Grim!” yelled Ron as he pointed at the black snarling dog behind them.

The four students ducked as the dog jumped over them and dragged a screaming Ron towards the hole in the tree. “What in the name of Kami just happened?” growled Piccolo.

The four rushed forwards to grab Ron but Harry missed his hand and Ron was dragged into the tree.

“Ron! Ron!” yelled Hermione and Harry but the two were suddenly flung backwards by a tree branch. Piccolo and Goku had already seen the branch coming and easily dodged it.

“The tree is animate? How is that possible?” rumbled Piccolo as he ducked to dodge another branch.

Goku shrugged then jumped and rolled to avoid 3 branches trying to hit him “No idea! But it’s kinda cool!” Goku flashed Piccolo a Son grin then the two of them snapped their heads up as they heard Hermione’s shriek as she was holding onto a branch and whipped around. Goku glanced at Piccolo “I got her, watch after Harry!” Piccolo nodded then jumped away from a swinging branch. Goku flew up and after Hermione and easily snatched her off of the branch then flew to where Harry and Piccolo were. “Grab onto me!”

Harry was a bit hesitant but touched his arm nervously. Piccolo knew what the Saiyan was going to do so he grabbed onto his shoulder then grabbed onto Harry to make sure the boy went with them incase he let go. Harry let out a yelp as they suddenly landed on a dirt floor of a cave. The cave was pretty small so Piccolo had to lean down a bit; even with a thirteen year old's body, he was still taller than most in his grade. Goku put Hermione down and looked towards the Whomping Willows cave entrance; the branches were starting to calm down at their absence.

Harry and Hermione stared at Goku. “H-How…?” a quick narrow eyed glance from Piccolo cut off Hermione’s question.

Goku’s face suddenly went serious “We’ll talk about it later, first lets get Ron.” The two Earthlings nodded then the four of them cautiously went forwards.

“Where do you think this leads?” Asked Hermione.

Piccolo pulled his hood down a bit then growled “I have a hunch… I just hope i’m wrong.”

The group looked at Piccolo curiously but didn’t question any further. They then came to the end of the cave and saw a ladder that led up to a square hole.

“I’ll go first,” Goku said then floated up the ladder and looked around. He sensed three energy signatures ahead. He leaned over the hole “Come on up, they’re ahead.” Goku helped Harry and Hermione up while Piccolo just floated up like Goku had done.

Piccolo glanced behind them at the hole; he felt a faint energy signature approaching the tree. He looked back at the group and walked with them. He would deal with the new comer when they got here. When they started to slowly climb the stairs, Piccolo floated up to Goku and nudged him with his mind. ‘Goku, If you haven't been here before, I recognize this place as the abandoned house called the Shrieking Shack. I am getting a strong feeling that whatever happens here in this house tonight, we should try not to interfere' Goku looked at Piccolo then nodded.

“We’re in the shrieking Shack, aren’t we?” Hermione said quietly then looked at Piccolo.

Piccolo nodded then Goku murmured “Try to be quiet, come on.”

The four crept up the stairs then walked faster when they heard Ron’s pained cries. Harry and Hermione ran past Goku when Harry Spotted Ron sitting on a matress on the floor clutching his rat fearfully.

“Ron! The dog, where is it?” Harry asked in a hurried voice. Goku and Piccolo feigned ignorance of the energy signatures in the room and approaching the shack. When Ron shakily pointed out Sirius behind them and that he’s an animagus, Piccolo and Goku walked back towards the right side of Ron. They then got into fighting stances with their wands out even though they had no intention of fighting.

The man they saw was beyond disheveled. He was extremely thin to the point of being skeletal so the clothing he wore barely clung to his thin frame. They could also see some strange tattoos decorating the man’s boney chest. The man slowly walked forwards with a hollow but determined look in his eyes.

“If you want to kill Harry, you’ll have to kill us too!” Hermione said protectively as she put Harry behind her. Goku felt proud of Hermione for wanting to put her life on the line for her friends just like he did on a regular basis. But, when he looked at the skeleton-like man; he did not feel any malicious or evil intent from the man. Slightly disturbed yes, but nothing evil like Freeza, Brolli in his Legendary form, or evil Buu. When Goku looked at Piccolo, he could tell that Piccolo was thinking the same thing.

“No, only one will die tonight.” Sirius said in a way that had the two Aliens looking at each other; there was something they were missing with how the man was talking, but they couldn’t tell what.

“Then it’ll be you!” shouted Harry as he tackled Sirius.

Words Harry said to Goku when Harry was crying on the rock near Hogsmeade flashed in his mind. Goku understood more about what Piccolo said about not interfering; this was Harry’s fight, not theirs.

The teens watched as Harry pointed his wand at the man’s face and Sirius started laughing “Are you going to kill me Harry?”

“Expellliarmus!” The wand Harry was holding suddenly flicked out of his hand. Professor Remus Lupin had burst into the room and had his wand held out, pointing at Harry. He nodded to Harry to leave and the boy clambered off of the haggard man. “Well, well Sirus. Looking rather ragged aren’t we?” he glanced at Goku and Piccolo in surprise then turned back to Sirius “Finally the flesh reflects the madness within.”

“Well you’d know all about the madness within, wouldn’t you Remus?” the line said by Sirius had everyone in the room looking at the scarred Professor in confusion. The Professor slowly smirked then helped Sirius up and the two men hug each other. Sirius excitedly said “I found him!”

“I know,” Lupin said as he hugged the man.

“Let’s kill him!” Sirius said when they broke apart.

“No!” exclaimed Hermione “I trusted you! And all this time you’ve been his friend!” everyone in the room stared at Hermione. Piccolo was particularly annoyed; he had bent down to tend to Ron’s leg when Hermione’s outburst disrupted his concentration on wrapping the wound with a strip of his white cape. Hermione pointed at Lupin “He’s a werewolf! That’s why he’s been missing classes!”

Goku grinned “OH! That’s why… oh… huh.” he crossed his arms and looked up thoughtfully as he thought back to when he had to stop Vegeta from molesting the Professor.

Piccolo turned his head a bit at Goku “What is it Son?”

Goku chuckled “I’ll tell yah later.” he threw a knowing smirk at Lupin who shifted his eyes back to Hermione, a very slight blush crept onto Remus' face that only Piccolo and Goku noticed.

“How long have you known?” Lupin wondered silently if Vegeta blabbed his secret.

“Since Professor Snape set the essay.” Hermione said nervously as Lupin walked closer.

“Well, well, well Hermione, You really are the brightest witch of your age i’ve ever met.” Mused Remus as Sirius started to get impatient.

“Enough talk Remus! Come on! Let’s kill him!” What Sirius said made Goku’s Ki flare for a second before Piccolo probed his mind to tell him to back off and calm down.

“Wait!” Remus held out his hand but Sirius suddenly yelled at the Professor.

“I did my waiting! Twelve years of it! In Azkaban!” Sirius stared Remus down.

The Professor looked at Sirius then let out a sigh in defeat and held up his wand to Sirius. “Very well, kill him.” Sirius grabbed the wand. “Wait one more minute, Harry has the right to know why.”

Goku was about to ask why when Harry said angrily “I know why. You betrayed my parents!” Harry stepped closer “You’re the reason they’re dead!”

“No Harry it wasn’t him.” Lupin said. The two aliens could sense that the man was telling the truth. “Someone did betray your parents, but it was somebody who, until recently, I believed to be dead!”

“Who was it then?” asked Goku curiously.

“Peter Pettigrew!” exclaimed Sirius “And he’s in this room! Right now!”

“Peter Pettigrew… that name sounds familiar…” Goku said then scratched his head in thought.

“Come out come out Peter! Come out and plaaaay!” sang out Sirius.

“Expelliarmus!” Sirius’ wand flew out of his hand and everyone looked to see Snape stalking forwards with his wand out. Severus let out a small sigh “Ah, vengeance is sweet. How I hoped i’d be the one to catch you.” The Potions Master’s voice dripped with venom as he spoke to Sirius.

“Severus…” Lupin said quietly.

“Professor-” started Goku but shut up when he received a half a foot long piece of wood to his head that was throw by Piccolo.

Severus Snape continued his speech “I told Dumbledore you were helping a friend into the castle and now here’s the proof!”

“Brilliant Snape,” drawled Sirius as he walked closer to Severus “Once again you’ve put your keen and penetrative mind to the task and as usual come to the wrong conclusion.” Snape glared daggers at Sirius as the man spoke and got closer “Now if you’ll excuse us, Remus and I have some unfinished business to attend to!”

Snape thrusted his wand to Black’s throat “Give me a reason,” the Professor seethed “I beg you!”

“Severus don't be a fool.” Lupin said nervously.

Sirius scoffed “He can’t help it, it’s habit by now!”

“Be quiet!” yelled Remus.

“Be quiet yourself Remus!” Sirius yelled back, pratically ignoring the wand at his throat

Lupin huffed in annoyance while Goku stifled a giggle; they reminded him of a married couple fighting, Vegeta and Bulma maybe? That thought made Goku wonder if the two wizards were more than just friends...

“Well listen to you two; quarrelling like an old married couple.” growled Snape.

“Why don’t you run along and play with your chemistry set!” snapped Sirius as the wand was pushed to his neck.

“I could do it you know.” Severus sneered “But why deny the dementors? They’re so longing to see you.”

Goku and Piccolo flinched at the mention of the Dementors and Ron looked at Piccolo worriedly “You okay?”

Piccolo swallowed thickly then nodded “I’ll be fine… I had a run in with the Dementors back on the train to Hogwarts. Needless to say it was not pleasant.” Ron gaped a bit at Piccolo then turned back to the heated conversation between Severus and Sirius.

Piccolo turned back to the conversation in time to hear “...Dementor’s kiss. One can only imagine what that must be like to endure. It’s said to be nearly unbearable to witness but i’ll do my best.” sneered Professor Snape. Severus motioned for the students to leave, but Harry slowly walked forwards and raised his wand.

Goku noticed Harry shift his eyes between Sirius and Professor Snape. Just before Harry flicked his wand at Snape, Goku shouted “No Harry!” It was too late, Snape flew backwards and into the old bed collapsing it. Goku stared at Harry with narrow eyes “You attacked a teacher Harry! What were you thinking?!”

Harry glared at Goku “I need answers, No one is going anywhere till I get them!” he pointed his wand at Sirius “Tell be about Peter Pettigrew!”

“He was at school with us, we thought he was our friend!” said Remus.

“No, Pettigrew’s dead.” he pointed his wand at Sirius “You killed him!”

“No he didn’t!” Remus stepped in front of Sirius “I thought so too until you mentioned seeing Pettigrew on the map!”

Goku’s eyes widened; that’s where he’d seen the name! When he was flying above Harry when he was wandering around the castle that one night! ‘Piccolo he’s telling the truth. I saw Peter’s name on the map with my own eyes’

Piccolo titled his head towards Goku without tilting his head up then nodded ‘I believe you Son, How is it possible that someone that should be dead, is walking around? Is there a way to be brought back to life in this world in a way similar to that of the Dragon Balls?’

Goku sighed, shook his head then looked intently at Piccolo ‘I don’t know, but I think we’re about to find out’

“That map was lying then!” Harry said annoyed.

“The map never lies!” exclaimed Sirius “Pettigrew’s alive!” He pointed towards where Piccolo was still tending to Ron “And he’s right there!”

Piccolo growled then stood “Me? You are more disturbed that I thought if you think I am this Peter.”

Sirius rolled his head “No not you! The boys rat!”

Piccolo turned around then focused on Ron’s rat. He sensed that there was indeed something off about it; it has an energy level similar to that of Sirius.

“Scabbers?” gasped Ron as he stroked the frantically squeaking rat “He’s been in my family for-”

“Twelve years...” Goku said as he caught onto what was going on. He turned to Sirius with wide eyes then stared at the squirming rat.

Sirius waved to Goku and nodded “Yes! Curiously long life for a common garden rat!” Sirius pointed rapidly at the rat “He’s missing a toe isn’t he?”

“So what?” said Ron as he tried in vain to calm down his rat.

Harry suddenly said “All they could find of Pettigrew was his-”

“Finger! The dirty coward cut it off so everyone would think he was dead!” yelled Sirius.

Goku thought to himself that these wizards should really try to learn how to sense energies; if they could this problem would have been solved years ago when it first started.

Sirius continued talking and staring at the rat hatefully “And then he turned into a rat!”

Harry looked at Ron then Sirius “Show me.”

Piccolo was already near Ron so he snatched the rat before anyone could blink then stood. Piccolo held up the rat but made sure his hood was still down “I have confirmed there is something usual about this rodent. It has the same… Magic energy as you, Black.”

Sirius looked at Piccolo curiously but grabbed the rat and nodded “Thanks.” he then turned to Remus. Sirius quickly placed the rat onto the piano and the two animal shifting men struggled to cast their spell on the evasive rat. The rat was about to lunge into the hole in the wall but Goku IT’d in front of the hole to block it with his leg and foot. Everyone in the room watched at the rat suddenly turned it a disheveled, dusty looking, balding fat man.

Goku glared down at the fat man who yelped at the intense glare the Saiyan was giving him. Goku slowly reached down and grabbed Peter by the front of his shirt and slowly lifted him upwards. Peter’s feet were dangling a couple inches from the ground as Goku lifted him with ease.

“D-Don't kill m-me…” gasped Peter as he pawed at Goku’s arm, hand and wrist.

Goku’s deadly glare didn’t back down as he stared down the fat man. Everyone in the room, except Piccolo, was wide eyed at the feat of strength the teenager was showing off without even breaking a sweat or straining!

“How dare you…” snarled Goku, his voice deeper that it usually was in his thirteen year old body. “You were their friends… and yet you betray them…” Goku flared his Ki and watched at Peter whimpered and shook with fear at the powerful aura he was feeling. “You lead innocent people to their deaths. You orphaned an innocent child- no…” Goku’s eyes flashed teal in anger “An infant!” Goku turned and slammed Peter against the wall and roared “You were their friend and yet you let them perish! I’d rather die than betray my friends and family!" No one except Piccolo had ever seen Goku angry, so all the wizards were completely stunned at the actions Goku did and words he said.

“I-I Didn’t… me-mean too!” Peter choked out.

The next words had everyone is the room stunned and shocked more than before. Goku snarled and bared his teeth as his tail lashed behind him in anger “You don’t deserve to live! You will die by my hand!” Goku then raised his hand and collected a Ki ball, ready to blow a hole in Peter’s chest.

A steady hand rested itself on his shoulder and Goku snapped his head to the right and hissed at Piccolo. “Goku, this isn’t you. Let him go. You know as well as I do that you will hate yourself afterwards. He is not Freeza nor is he Cell. He is a poor excuse of a man, but not one that deserves death, by your hand at least.”

Goku slowly lowered Peter then roughly let go of his shirt. Goku glared daggers at Peter who shook in fear then collapsed to his hands and knees and tried to kiss Piccolo’s feet while muttering a mantra of praises to Piccolo.

“Don’t touch me rodent.” snarled Piccolo and kicked Peter’s stomach hard enough to make the man slide into the wall and cough in pain, but not enough to break anything or do any real damage; he just wanted the filthy man away from him. “You disgust me. Don’t make me regret not letting Goku kill you and rid this world of your existence.”

Peter sat up and pulled his knees to his chest and stared at Piccolo then widened his eyes as he was at the right angle to catch a glimpse of Piccolo’s green chin, snarling lips that flashed fangs and part of his nose. Piccolo noticed this change in demeanor then tugged his hood down.

Goku growled then walked away to stop himself from pummeling the small man into the ground.

“H-Harry…” stuttered Peter as he slowly stood and walked towards the boy “Look at you! You look s-so much like your f-father...” Peter tried to smile “James, w-we were the b-best of friends-”

“How dare you speak to Harry!” roared Sirius and Goku in unison, Goku’s Ki flaring in anger that the small man didn’t learn his lesson. Peter snarled at Sirius and Goku then ran away “How dare you talk about James in front of him!” Remus, Goku and Sirius cornered him behind the Piano; Remus next to Sirius to the left and Remus to the right of the piano.

Remus pointed his wand at Peter “You sold James and Lily to Voldemort didn’t you!?”

“I didn’t mean to!” whined Peter, he then flinched as Goku snarled and snapped his teeth, the Saiyan’s tail flicking side to side. “The Dark Lord! You have no idea the weapons the possesses!”

Goku flared his Ki again and the shack creaked at the wave. “So you’d rather be a coward and betray your friends?!”

Peter twitched again but pointed at Goku then Sirius “Ask yourselves; What would you have done? What would you have done?!”

“I would have died!” Sirius yelled “I would have died rather than betray my friends!”

Peter tried to escape them by crawling under the piano but Goku sped over and slammed his knee into Peter’s chest making the man gasp for air. “Harry!” Peter cried out as he reached for the boy in his bent over position and waddled over “James wouldn’t have wanted me killed! You’re dad would have spared me! He would have shown me meRCY AH!” he shrieked the last part as Goku grabbed his collar and tossed his back onto the floor and raised his hand, a ball of Ki forming.

“Should have realized that if Voldemort didn’t kill you, we would!” Remus nodded to Sirius then glanced at the pissed off Goku. Lupin then shouted “Together!”

“No!” yelled Harry catching everyone’s attention.

Goku glanced at Harry, his Ki ball not vanishing “Harry, this man-”

“I know what he is.” Harry slowly walked forwards “But we’ll take him to the castle.”

Peter let out a half sob “Bless you boy, bless you!” Peter yelped as Goku picked him up again by the back of his shirt.

Harry nodded to Goku who nodded back. Harry then glared at Peter “I said we’d take you to the castle. After that the dementors can have you.”

At the mention of dementors in that context, Goku smirked ferally at Peter who let out a whimper in fear. Goku licked his slightly elongated fangs “Hear that Peter? Dementors! I’ve had my own experience with them and I doubt you’ll last against them.” his tail curled and uncurled in anticipation of what's to come.

Authors Notes:
I know you're probably annoyed with how agressive i'm making Goku, but its for a reason; Just like Gohan, just being near a small bit of fullmoon light will trigger the agressive Saiyan nature.
What moon light you ask? The moon light coming from the cracks in the wood, the windows... anything! It's a really old house; theres ways for moonlight to get in one way or another. I thought this would be an obvious fact so I didnt type the information. I also thought mentioning it would take away from the moment.
