Hermione was standing by the door leading outside to where her beautiful fiancée was standing, talking with everyone around him. Ginny was looking at her, Molly was fluffing her dress and veil, Andromeda and Astoria were making sure her hair was perfect. Hermione breathed deeply, her hands were shaking with nerves and occasionally she gave some serious thought to running for the hills. She knew Teddy well by now though, he would likely track her down and drag her back to the wedding by her hair. She smiled fondly at that thought, he really did love her and she loved him but his intensity in his feelings for her were sometimes scary.
“So” Ginny said as the other women all looked at her “How did Teddy take the news?”
“What news?” Hermione played dumb.
“You know…” Andromeda said looking at Hermione’s pregnant belly.
“Oh” She laughed and put her hand over her belly “He was mad actually”
“Mad?!” Andy said “Why the hell was he mad?”
“Not really mad” Hermione recanted “More…ashamed of me. Though, it wasn’t my fault!”
“You didn’t take the potion or use the charm, did you?” Andy asked in shock.
“Well” Hermione blushed “I went to his dorm wanting to surprise him, I didn’t even think about it just went there and we had sex and the next thing I know…” She laughed “I’m vomiting in the mornings, cramping and I’m bloody well eating pickles and drinking pumpkin juice”
“Did he say that he was mad at you?” Molly asked.
“Did he make any comments about you not looking good in a bathing suit, because I’ll go out there and smack him!” Ginny asked tapping her foot angrily.
“If he did that” Hermione said “I would go out there and smack him” She laughed “No, scratch that…I would have smacked him already”
“So what did he do?” Andy asked looking out a window at the man her grandson had become “Was he happy or scared?”
“He looked at me for nearly five minutes without speaking” Hermione answered “Then…”
*Teddy looked at Hermione with a river of emotions flowing through his eyes. He watched her sitting before him with a luminescent smile on her face that was slowly becoming dimmer and dimmer. Her face was starting to fall and he could see tears starting to fill those beautiful eyes, hidden only by those long, dark lashes. Tears…those weren’t what he wanted, he never wanted to see those and never, in all his years and the years he had yet to live, did he want to ever to be the reason for those tears.
“You’re…p-pregnant?” He asked, trying to wrap his head around the fact that he was going to be a father “Pregnant?”
“Are you very mad?” She asked, biting her full lip.
“I…I am a little…upset” He admitted watching the tears fill her eyes again “Don’t cry!” He rushed forward and pulled her in to his arms, kissing her all over her face “Baby, the only reason I am upset is because I’m not going to be with you during the whole pregnancy. I want to be there for each appointment and everything…and I will miss the first three months, that’s an entire trimester”
“How do you know about trimesters?” She asked with a laugh, kissing his nose.
“Are you kidding me?” He asked “When you said yes to my proposal I enrolled in to a parenting class right away” Hermione pushed herself deeper in to his arms sobbing that he would be the best husband ever.
“Don’t worry” Hermione told him “All you’ll miss is me throwing up, sobbing all over the place and sleeping more than usual” She kissed him again “The fun starts in the fourth month, the moving baby finding out the sex of the baby…you’ll be there for that”
“And when we have more babies” Teddy said making his fiancée groan in horror.*
“He is so romantic” Ginny sighed, the door was opened and Ron stood there smiling when he saw Hermione in her wedding gown.
“Can I speak to Hermione?” Ron asked when they nodded but didn’t move he added “Alone?”
“Ginny” Hermione said “Make sure that everyone is ready”
“Okay” She bounced out of the room.
“You look amazing” Ron said “I remember how you looked when we got married. You were beautiful then but you are just…” He looked around the room for the right word “You shine, your happiness is overflowing and I can feel it as if it’s rain or sunshine. This is a look that comes from being truly in love and that’s what we were missing” He hugged her gently “I loved you from the moment you first gave me that snotty little look on the train but it wasn’t the kind of love you needed”
“Ron” She ran her hand down his cheek.
“Pregnancy looks beautiful on you” Ron told her “And I’ve already given Teddy a speech about being a decent father and not hurting you…I think I hurt you enough for one lifetime”
“I love you, Ronald” Hermione said “Thank you for being in my life”
“Thank you for putting up with me” He laughed, the door opened and Ginny stuck her head in.
“Everything okay in here?” She asked.
“Fine” Hermione wiped away some tears while Ginny kicked her brother out of the room and turned to take care of the brides make-up.
“Make-ups fixed” Ginny said “And it’s time to get you married”
Teddy stood at the front of the gazebo and watched as the bridesmaids walked down. Then her maid of honor walked down, Rose looked as beautiful as her mother in that moment and he smiled proudly at her. When Hermione walked down the aisle towards him, his hands started to shake and he could feel his whole body going haywire. He wasn’t afraid to get married, he wasn’t afraid to be a “caught” or even a “whipped” man but he was terrified that he wouldn’t be up to her expectations.
“Teddy” He heard Harry, his best man, whisper to him “If you continue shaking like that we will have an earthquake”
“I’m fine” He whispered back.
“I can tell” Harry chuckled “Your hair is showing every color of the rainbow”
Before he realized that it had happened Hermione was standing before him. She was looking up at him with amusement and love, his hair evened out to a sandy brown color and his eyes cleared to a solid light green color. They joined hands and the ministry official took out two long white strips of silk cloth and wrapped it evenly around their hands. The binding words the man spoke came from his mouth in long, golden sentences and wrapped around them before landing and sticking to the binding cloth. Hermione repeated what needed to be repeated without taking her eyes off of his and he did the same. Before either of them knew what had happened they were told that it was time to kiss and they did freely. Then the world came back to them and everyone rushed forward to hug Mr. and Mrs. Lupin and tell them how beautiful the ceremony was. Hermione looked at her husband and smiled brightly realizing that she did indeed have a husband and she wasn’t worried in the least about what their lives would turn in to.
The reception started and everyone went to the party. Hermione and Teddy was in the middle of the long, white cloth covered table. They each had a glass of wine and food in front of them, everyone was watching them and taking magical pictures of them including the photographer she had hired. The food was dished out and everyone ate and drank a little more, Hermione only had one glass then drank pumpkin juice much to Ginny’s horror. Then Arthur Weasley stood up and tapped his glass waiting for the noise to die down so he could make a speech. Finally, they did, everyone turning to look at the balding, red-haired man as he looked at the faces of his friends and family members.
“Hello everyone” He said making everyone chuckle “As most of you know, Hermione’s parents perished in the war. In the first wedding, to my very own son Harry walked her down the aisle to what she thought was her destiny. This time I was lucky enough to do it, I am a lucky man having walked Ginny down the aisle and then my Hermione” Everyone clapped and wiped their eyes “Teddy you are a lucky man to have such a woman on your arm and in your life and soon you will see not only what it means to be a stepfather but a new father. Good luck Teddy and if you hurt her, I have a feeling that there will be a long line of people willing to hurt you” He smiled “Hermione, congratulations little girl”
“When my godson said that he was going to marry my best friend” Harry said next “I wasn’t as shocked as perhaps I should have been. They had so much in common and he really does love her I could see that right away. I was nervous that she wouldn’t allow it to happen but she has surprised me a million times and this was just another time” He looked at her “Hermione treat him well and love him always and remember…he won’t turn in to the person that you worry he will, not ever, I raised him better than that”
“My grandson is a very special man” Andromeda said “I will admit that I was against this relationship at first. I was angry, thinking that maybe she had cast a spell on him or slipped him a potion but then I saw them together” She wiped a few tears away from her cheeks “He looked at her like she was the earth, the moon and the sun all put together to make a 5’5” witch with crazy hair and a know-it-all attitude” She shook her head “Hermione looked at him like he was a god, someone that she’d only read about in all those books but never thought she’d meet and I realized that in all my life I had never experienced that type of love and I was jealous” She smiled again “But not anymore, Teddy you take care of her and make sure that you remember every day how much she means to you”
“When I first met Teddy” Rose said “I had a crush on him but hey, so didn’t Aunt Ginny” Everyone laughed “In fact, so didn’t just about every female that ever met him” She tossed back the sheet of her red hair “Teddy you’ve made my mother smile again, made her laugh and joke and act like a teenager and it’s been awesome to see, thank you and welcome to the family”
“Last but never the least” Ginny said and when Hermione opened her mouth to point out that Ron had yet to speak Ginny beat her to it “Ronald has already said his speech to you and to Teddy before the wedding” Hermione nodded “So, on to me” She smiled “Teddy you are one sexy man-beast that should probably take up stripping for those of us who don’t get to see behind the doors in to your sex-life and naked body!” Hermione put her hand over her face and laughed while Lavender, Fluer and Rose made cat-calls in agreement “But other than that, I am happy you are joining the family that Hermione is part of and I love you more than you would ever know. Take good care of her and don’t give me a reason to use my bat-bogey hex on you, I’m very good at that particular hex” She smiled and everyone clapped while she sat down. Teddy stood up and greeted the guests.
“When Hermione told me about this tradition I thought that it was going to be the easiest thing in the world to do” He told everyone “Telling the world how I really felt about her, I figured they all knew so what was saying a few words to make her happy…then I tried to write down the things I wanted to say and it was bloody hard to do” Everyone laughed and he turned to look at her “Hermione, I first saw you when I was home for Christmas in my seventh year. I was outside considering what I was going to do about a relationship I had just been in when I looked through the window I saw you tending to the fire” He sighed “I fell in love with you then, I vowed that I would get to know you and I did, I vowed I would marry you some day and I have” He smiled at her “I love you more than I could ever say, I want to make you happy, to heal you when you’re sick or injured and then to kill whoever hurt you or made you sick” She laughed “I love you” He kissed her.
“What can I say?” Hermione asked as she stood for her own speech “I’m marrying a man that others have claimed is too young for me but for once, I don’t care” She smiled at him “I went through a war not sure I would live, I was tortured and thought for sure that my life would never be whole again and I was treated like an object by someone I trusted and I allowed it to happen” She looked sad and wiped tears away “I married my first love and realized that we weren’t meant for each other, I had children that for the longest time were the only reason I was alive” She smiled “But then Teddy came in to my life and he showed me that I was human, that I was strong and driven, he showed me that there was someone willing to fight for me and when I thought that it was impossible he showed me that someone could really love me” There were tears coming from nearly everyone “He showed me that there was someone willing to give up everything just to be with me and even though I know I sound selfish but without him I fear to know what my life would be like, I love you”
As the night went on Hermione danced with everyone from Arthur to Harry, Ron and even Ginny. Then it was time to leave, to head off to their honeymoon where it would be just them. Romantic and loving, they stood on the barrier getting ready to leave Andromeda’s land when he put his hand over her stomach. She watched as he just looked at her stomach and smiled, she knew that he was going to be a great father and a great husband, she was truly a happy and lucky woman. He looked at her and kissed her deeply, his tongue exploring her mouth as if it were both the first time and last time that it would happen.
“What did Ron say to you?” She asked “I didn’t even know you guys had spoken”
“He told me…” He started
*Teddy was standing in the room that was across from Hermione’s dressing room. He was nervous, scared and worried all at the same time and he couldn’t help but wonder what his parents would say. He wondered if his father would apologize to Hermione about what he had done to her. There was knock on his door and Harry answered it looking at Ronald on the other side of that door, the red-haired man whispered something to Harry and his god father nodded and walked out.
“Teddy” Ron said, he walked in slowly and kept his eyes on his feet “I wanted to talk to you about Hermione”
“I love her” Teddy pointed out.
“I know” Ron said “But I wanted to tell you something important” He looked at him hard “Hermione is a hard worker, when she is writing you could be on fire and she wouldn’t notice, she will lose sleep when she’s worried, bites her nails when she’s scared”
“Oh” Teddy said.
“She was my best friend for so long I want to keep her safe” Ron told him “If you hurt her I will kill you and because I’m Ronald Weasley a war-hero they will never think it’s me!”
“Okay” Teddy looked worried.
“She’s a special woman” Ron said “And deserves better than the life I gave her, please promise that she will forever be your everything”
“She will” Teddy promised*
Hermione smiled and pulled him in for a kiss. They left for their honeymoon finally, Rose and Scorpius watched them from the patio. She turned to look at the blonde boy in front of her and smiled brightly, they had broken up and tried the single life but it would never work, they were just as in love as Teddy and Hermione. Scorpius kissed her deeply actually bending her backwards in his intensity, she laughed and pushed him back up.
“Are you staying at your dads?” He asked.
“Not tonight” She answered “He’s letting me spend the night here”
“Really?” He grinned “So am I”
“Maybe we can…” He raised an eyebrow “Well…we did have a stressful term and we are sixteen”
“My room is at the end of the hallway on the second floor” She purred walking towards the house “See you later”
