As Spring came knocking Hermione and Severus’s life together was evening out. Luna and Ron had been married and Sirius Black and Pansy Parkinson were engaged. The students were all shocked that their Potions Master, a man that had once been the most feared man next to Voldemort himself, was being a bit nicer. While he wasn’t wearing baby blue robes and walking around whistling love songs, he barely made fun of his students failures, he actually helped them in classes and had been caught even giving the Gryffindor’s house points once. He hated being thought of as being nice and he blamed Hermione for the change in his personality.
Hermione was feeling the same way about him, she seemed stronger, more able to take on new cases when they arose. If it were a new case at work, in her marriage or with her friends when she was with Severus he figuratively lifted her up and made her see the whole situation. They were like Ying and Yang, what one was missing the other possessed and they made the perfect circle. Sure, the first month and a half was a difficult one but they made it work and were the stronger for it. His biggest hang up was the lack of privacy, what finally pushed him over the edge wasn’t her having friends over nor her walking in on him in the shower or his potions lab. It happened to be when she left a wet towel on the floor in his bathroom and her clothes on the floor after a long day at work. The fight that had followed his discovery of all her ‘misdeeds’ had been terrible, they called one another names, she smacked him across the face and pushed her against the wall. They had been face to face, inches apart, chests heaving with their labored breathing and his hand raised before he realize what he had been about to do. It had been a Friday night when that happened and she didn’t see him again until Monday evening, though they had not spoken until Tuesday evening when she finally made him talk.
“I wanted to hit you” He had said with a look of disgust on his face “I thought I was better than my abusive father but apparently I am not”
“But you didn’t hit me” Hermione had told him “You saw what you were about to do and you stopped yourself”
“Not good enough!” He had snapped and stood up pacing back and forth across the sitting room “What if I had hit you?”
“Then I would have cursed you in to wishing you were dead” Hermione told him “I am not afraid of you Severus and I know that you are many things but a wife-beater you are not” She had taken his hand and made him look at her “I believe that, truly I do”
That had been the worse fight so far and it really had been horrible but they made it through it and they were more in love than before. Hermione put aside her maternal feelings and never brought them up to Severus. Meanwhile, Ginny was going on to her fourth month and now that her morning sickness was gone she was all about how amazing it was that she going to have a baby. Luna was constantly going on about the wedding and being married and asking Hermione’s advice. She was happy and content taking care of her friends for a little while and while she was happy doing that Severus was happy at not having to think about what a crappy father he was going to be.

Pansy and Sirius were living together in her parents house so they didn’t get any naughty ideas before the wedding which would be happening at the end of the month. Her parents didn’t know that the minute they were married they were going to leave for their honeymoon and not come back until their child had to attend Hogwarts. She would finally be free of their constant snooping in to her life, never being good enough for them and of having to be the perfect pureblooded woman. Sirius wanted a wife that wanted adventure, wanted to travel, learn new things and have a full life. Pansy knew that he had lost much of his life to Azkaban and almost died in the war. She could have done worse while picking a husband, they knew that love was a long shot, it was a marriage of convenience and mutual interests that forced them in to this.
“Pansy” Sirius said as he entered the room “I will be visiting Remus at Hogwarts at three, would you like to come as well?”
“And get out of the house?” She laughed “I would dig up the dark lords bones to get out of this house”
“A difficult job to do, my dear” He said “As the man literally turned to dust and floated away but I get your meaning”
“I shall be ready” Pansy said with a smile “I won’t make you wait”
An hour later they were standing outside the Hogwarts gates. Pansy hadn’t been back since the war had ravaged the school three years ago, it looked the same but different at the same time. She wasn’t looking at it through the eyes of a little girl anymore but as a young woman with intentions of sending her own little girl there at some point. Dressed in a black pencil skirt, cream colored corset and a black blazer with heels Pansy looked every bit the pureblooded princess so many thought her to be. With her back straight, shoulders back and head held high and with an air of cold disinterest she took Sirius’s offered arm and allowed him to lead her in to the castle.
“Sirius” Remus greeted as they entered the front hall of the school “Miss. Parkinson so nice to see you again”
“Likewise, I’m sure” She answered and looked off towards the dungeon stairs. She, like so many other former Slytherin students, had heard that Snape had taken a wife. She was one of the few to know that it was Hermione Granger now Snape that resided in the castle with him. She would be lying if she said that she didn’t want to see the couple to see if it was actually true because a part of her just couldn’t believe it.
“Pansy?” Sirius said bringing her back to the conversation she had been ignoring “Tea is ready on one of the back patio’s and Tonks is awaiting our company”
“Yes, sorry” She smiled “Just remembering”
“I understand completely” Sirius said smiling down at her while they followed Remus through the castle and through a portrait hole that led them to the staff area. Pansy hadn’t even known that this part of the castle existed, then again she should have known but never thought about it that much.
“I hope you don’t mind” Remus said “But I think Severus and Hermione will join us in a little bit, he was just waiting for her to get back from shopping with Ginny”
“That’s not a problem” Sirius said though he would have preferred to kill the man than have tea with him but it didn’t matter anymore, Hermione made her choice.
“Sirius” Tonks walked forward and gave him a hug before holding her hand out delicately to Pansy who looked at her for a moment before smiling tightly and shaking her hand “Pansy, it’s nice to formally meet you”
“Nice to meet you as well” Pansy said as they sat down and the tea was poured for them by the charm placed on the teapot. The men discussed Sirius’s travels and told stories about their exploits while they were students. Pansy was surprised that she was actually greatly interested in these stories all the while being thoroughly entertained.
“Hey Sirius” Hermione greeted as she and Severus came closer to the table, Pansy looked at her and her eyes narrowed slightly. They narrowed further when her fiancée stood and gave her a tight hug lifting her off the ground a little.
“Hermione” He greeted “Marriage looks good on you”
“And being engaged is agreeable with you, I daresay” She looked him over, it was true that Pansy had brought him shopping but not because she didn’t like his ‘traveler’ look, she thought that was far more sexier than the suit and tie look but she wanted her parents to approve so they wouldn’t tell him to get lost.
“Pansy did it” He blushed slightly “By the way, you remember Pansy Parkinson, right?”
“I do” She smiled at the other woman “It’s good to see you Pansy, you’re looking great”
“Thank you, Gr…err…Hermione?” She finished in a question and Hermione laughed at that.
“Yes, you can call me Hermione if you like” She said “Or Snape if it suits you better”
“I’ll stick with Hermione, then” She gave her the tight lipped smile that her mother taught her was acceptable when meeting with an unsavory person.
“Hermione” Tonks jumped up, tripped over the table and fell in to her arms “Sorry about that. Pregnancy brain, I think”
“You’ve always been this klutzy” Hermione pointed out gently.
“Couldn’t have let me have that one, could you?” She laughed “Come have some of these tasty little cakes”
“Oh” Hermione stuck her tongue out “I don’t think I could eat anything. My stomach’s been all over the place these past couple of days, sometimes it gets better sometimes not”
“Oh, I’m sorry” Tonks looked sad so Hermione took one of the cakes anyway and nibbled it. The rest of the day was spent talking about the future travels for Sirius and his soon-to-be bride and then about the cure that Severus had made for Tonks. Then Tonks engaged the women in talk about babies and raising children. Pansy was surprised that she had a good time and she was equally as surprised by the fact that Sirius would watch her every once in a while to make sure that she was having fun. She felt butterflies flutter in her stomach when he shot her a secretive, boyish smile before going back to talk to Remus.
A/N: How do you like it? Still writing the Ghost Story but came up with this one in the time I took off from that one. PLEASE REVIEW!!!!
