Last Time:
Cornelius looked at the mirror just in time to see all the cameras focus on one man yelling at the crowd of scared reporters and prepare to shower everyone with deadly curses. The Dark Lord was in Gringotts and ready to slaughter every innocent person in range ...

Relief flooded through Harry after the trial on abuse finished. The ruling placed all the consequences on the Potters and Hagrid actually won money from the Potters! The reasoning was that since James injured Harry as a child then James should pay Hagrid the exact amount for those medical treatments.
Of course, considering all of James’ money was in the Potters’ accounts, which Harry now owned, Hagrid declined the fine. It felt too much like taking money from his own son and ultimately not a proper punishment. The goblins agreed and a job will be added to the growing list of punishments.
The court took a brief lunch break before returning. The media went wild when Sirius explained his part and ‘Minerva’ made some comments on Michael’s behavior at school. Only a few select people notice that the goblins didn’t take notes or ask in depth questions of the headmistress. Of course, they knew Minerva wasn’t real so they weren’t concerned with making anything she said part of the record.
Right now there was going to be another break so a goblin could discuss with Albus on if he wanted everything broadcast or not. As a result there were many people, mainly reporters, going in and out to stretch the legs until the good stuff started. Even Remus managed to slip in to check in on them in person. Harry could hear a few reporters mulling over ideas on how to stay in the room without being spotted if the goblins tried to kick them out.
“There are some determined reporters out there.” Harry commented casually so the goblin in his section heard.
The goblin, Snarltooth, scoffed, “Nothing we can’t handle.”
“Good to know, but I’m also worried about what any ‘Boy Who Lived’ supporters might do outside of here. If Michael is locked up some people might be mad.” Harry sighed and waited like the others until he smelled something. Despite all the other scents he locked on this frighteningly familiar scent and he stood up. His red eyes scanned the crowd looking for the owner.
Hagrid immediately saw his son’s distress and easily reached over to touch Harry’s shoulder, “What’s wrong, little giant?”
“He’s here.” Harry said with a dangerous growl. Hagrid, of course, understood what Harry meant, but it wasn’t as clear to anyone else. The young creature looked at Noles and Lucius, “The Dark Lord is here.” He hissed bluntly, but just as he locked onto the hooded person in the crowd he found another smell. It was Albus’ scent. His mate was being escorted by goblins and straight into danger …
Harry could sense the Dark Lord’s magic shift and the doors shut. The creature saw the wand appear from under the robes, but couldn’t react in time to stop the people, who were wondering why the door closed, from being blasted with a powerful blast of magic. Everyone who was too close was sent flying and crashed to the ground violently. Many were clearly hurt, but it wasn't strong enough to kill and for a good reason.
“Keep all those mirrors on me and broadcast this!” The hooded person yelled threateningly as he amplified his voice with his wand. Terrified by this powerful person the reporters scrambled to turn the cameras and mirrors to catch everything. “This has gone on long enough. It was amusing at first, but I won’t allow that weakling,” a bony finger was thrust in Michael’s direction, “to have the honor of killing a Dark Lord … AS IF SOMEONE AS GREAT AS ME WILL FALL TO A CHILD!”The hood came down revealing none other than Marvolo Gaunt.
A dead silence filled the room. It took a few seconds, but one by one all of the reporters or Aurors recognized the dark lord. Some only recalled the pictures from years ago. However, like Sirius, some were old enough to know the dark wizard from the actual war.
Gaunt smirked even as the Aurors tried to pull the reporters out of the way so they could attack him, “You fools have forgotten everything … LET ME REMIND YOU OF MY POWER!”
Something inside Harry snapped. Perhaps it was because his mate was now in the room or because he could feel the magic about to be released, but either way he bolted. With a very ferocious growl he flew out of his section. The dozens of deadly spells were already shooting out of Gaunt’s wand so Harry did the only thing he could to protect everyone. He let the momentum carry him and used both his body and stretched wings to capture most of the spells.
After blocking most of the spells he body slammed the wizard to the ground. The hysterical dark lord was still trying to blast the beast off him in a desperate attempt to live. Gaunt even sent Minerva a glare for not helping right before Harry slashed his wand arm with acid filled claws that destroyed the wand and the flesh all the way up to the shoulder .
“Try blasting spells now.” Harry hissed, but he and everyone jumped when the doors were suddenly thrown wide open. Was it more Death Eaters?
“We’ll take him from here!” None other than the real Cornelius yelled as he and a team of Aurors entered Gringotts, which got really confusing considering there were now two ministers. Surprisingly enough that only concerned Harry. Everyone seemed to be staring at Harry.
The creature started to worry to the point where he actually put his wings and claws away as he glanced at the people who were hit by the spells he couldn’t block, “Is anyone badly hurt? I think I missed a few.” He said kindly hoping people would ignore the fact that he mauled a person.
“... ummm I think we’re just grazed?” One reporter, who was nicked by a cutting curse, said as he glanced around, but still the main focus was Harry.
Hagrid chuckled as the dark wizard was dragged away nearly crying in acid induced pain, “I think everyone has a few questions for you, little giant.” He said not sounding as concerned as Harry thought he should be.
“Yeah … like how are you alive?!” Someone yelled and in an instant all cameras and mirrors were on him followed by a barrage of questions. Harry actually had to fly out of the mob when he heard Albus yelling as he tried to get through to Harry .
“Quiet!” The judging goblins boomed effectively shutting everyone up. “I will have order in my court! All guests and reporters are to stay in your section! Lord Potter, please take your mate to your section. There will be plenty of room since someone needs to go to the minister and get a memory. I shouldn’t have to explain which one I want.”
Noles dropped his disguise, succeeding in adding another shock for the day, “I understand, sir. I will be back in a moment.”
The goblin in the center of the judging bench watched the Auror leave before looking back at Harry who was locked in a kiss with Albus. “This reunion can wait.” He sighed in relief when he saw the creature break the kiss, but frowned when it was only to whisper something in Albus’ ear. The goblin lost all his irritation when he saw the Albus looked shocked, as well as much healthier than when he walked in, and was now unconsciously rubbing his lower belly. “I see you will have much to talk about so let’s hurry this along.” He said sounding as amused as a goblin can sound.
“Oh. Yes, sir.” Harry said sheepishly as he guided Albus to their section.
Lucius got up so Harry could sit next to his mate and took the seat behind Harry. “You do realize what you did, right? You just blocked fire spells, curses and-“
“I can handle that. Do you think my attack will cause problems-“ Harry started, but was cut off.
“Problems? No, but you do realize the dark lord isn’t really dead and you also took four killing curses along with many other spells and you’re still alive, right?” Lucius exclaimed quietly as everyone settled down and healers were brought in. The Malfoy lord actually laughed at the look of realization coming over Harry’s face. “Exactly. This could change some things. After all, the only benefit they had, the whole Boy Who Lived argument, is up in flames.”
“Or not. Michael might still be the one who, at least, temporarily stopped the dark lord.” Harry said, but felt the large hand of his Dad on his shoulder.
“We don’t know exactly what happened. Maybe this’ll play in our favor.” Hagrid said calmly.
Dr. Izeki nodded, “Remember, my theory was only a theory. Michael may never have been a creature like I thought. Considering this he may never have been hit at all.” The wizard smirked when he saw the minister return through a door behind the judging bench. “We’ll see what this reveals.” He said while eyeing he vial filled with a silvery memory..
“Noles mentioned you needed this.” Cornelius said before publically vowing that he personally removed the memory from Gaunt’s mind and gave it to the goblin at the end of the judging bench.
“Good. I’m sure we’re all curious.” The goblin looked at his fellow judges and a decision was silently met. With the memory in his clawed hands he walked to the center of the walkway. Something pulled the memory up and as everyone followed it they saw that it was the runes on the ceiling. The memory melted into ceiling runes and instantly projected the memory around everyone …
The courtroom melted away to reveal the Potter manor and a younger version of the Dark Lord. Gaunt moved smugly up to the mansion and blasted the door in with a flick of his wand. Everyone was shocked at the lack of any security for nothing, runes or elves, confronted the wizard. The dark lord was already blasting down the room that was clearly marked with a cute ‘Babies’ room’ sign by the time Lily and James ran in.
“Don’t hurt my baby!” Lily yelled as she and James charged him with their wands out.
With his amazing skill of casting many spells at once Gaunt cast two perfectly aimed stunning spells, “Pathetic.” He scoffed as the parents hit the floor just inside the room.
Everyone tensed as the dark lord spotted the ring of toys next to the crib with a chubby crying child sitting in the center. Something else caught his attention and everyone’ eyes followed his line of sight.
In a dark corner was a nearly skeletal child that looked exactly like a starved Michael. Despite the differences in eyes and hair it was still obvious it was Harry. Something about the heartbreaking sight struck everyone, even the Dark Lord Gaunt. There was no amusement in the ruthless wizard’s eyes as they lingered on the clearly neglected child that also didn’t stop watching him. A surprisingly soft smile appeared on the bloodthirsty wizard’s lips, but it then turned cruel as his body turned back to the tiny crying Michael.
This is where the true benefit of a Pensieve memory comes into play. After all, everyone could truly see everything even though the Dark Lord couldn’t. While the owner of the memory was focused on Michael, everyone else was looking at Harry. The waft of a child seemed to understand that the slowly growing green glow was dangerous and started to search for anything useful. He found a splinter from the broken door and took it.
Thankfully, the dark wizard was taking his time. Perhaps he wished to savor this death, but the green glow just blinded him to what Harry was doing. Gaunt never saw Harry weakly aim the toothpick sized splinter and throw it. Blinded by the light from his own spell he never saw the toothpick hit the charmed toy bunny or the toy leaping up effectively taking the curse head on.
All Marvolo Gaunt saw was a crying Michael who seemed to calm down and stare at the green glow curiously.
All Michael saw was the green glow come close and a bunny hopping up. The child screamed as the bunny warped and exploded when the spell hit it.
You can say what you want about the Potters, but while they lack in love, and common sense they never skimp on what they buy. The bunny was such a high quality toy that it was not only charmed to the gills, but it had an artifact in the chest to keep the toy in good condition. Everyone could see that artifact glow as the bunny dissolved. Ultimately it was the artifact that exploded seriously wounding Gaunt, possibly to the point where he needed to rebuild his body, and thoroughly traumatizing Michael.
Darkness descended over the memory and there was a vague popping sound as if someone apparated …
