Poor Draco....He goes through a lot in this chapter

Draco only stumbled a little bit when they touched down. He jumped when Edge shifted almost immediately and took off into the trees. The leopard disappeared rather quickly into the shadows for being so white. Draco swallowed thickly. He turned back to find Severus already a few paces ahead of him and jogged to catch up. The queasy feeling returned as his ‘home’ came into view. He would much rather be at Hogwarts right now safe in his bed.
Severus kept his face passive as they entered the Manor and yet he was breathing a little heavier than Draco would have expected. Could the man really be coming down with a cold? If so, why didn’t he just take some Pepper Up? Draco got the feeling tonight was not going to go well. He was frightened of what the Dark Lord wanted to see him about but was beginning to get even more concerned for Severus. The man looked ready to fall over though he was doing his best to hide it.
A house elf met them at the door and led them into the meeting room without a word. There were only four people present in the room when they entered. The Dark Lord, of course, stood center and smiled at them as the doors shut behind them. The soft sound of the closing doors sounded loud in the silence of the room. His parents stood off to the side. Nothing showed on their faces but his mother was twisting her thumbs over the other in a sign of nervousness. It was the other man in the room that made him want to crawl into a corner and hide. Well, man would be putting it too kindly.
“My Lord.” Severus stated calmly bending to one knee. Draco quickly followed though he did not want to take his eyes off the golden eyes leering at him from the corner.
“Ah, Severus, perfectly on time as usual.” Voldemort said motioning for them to stand. Draco shivered at the hiss in the wizards voice. “The old fool did not give you much trouble?”
Severus stood but kept his eyes politely trained on the ground. “No, My Lord.”
Draco stood on shaking limbs. That bad feeling increased tenfold as the figure walked closer to them. He felt Severus tense beside him though the mans face did not change.
“And Draco, so wonderful to see you again, I trust Hogwarts is treating you well.”
“Yes, My Lord.” He hoped his voice sounded stronger than he felt. He wished they could skip the pleasantries.
Voldemort gave a smile that made Draco’s skin crawl. “Wonderful, though I am sure you all are wondering why I called you together.” No one dared to answer knowing the statement was not meant to be replied to. “I have been gathering more faithful followers, as you know, and Fenrir has so kindly agreed to help us in our cause.”
The werewolf grinned showing off sharp teeth as he was mentioned.
“He has asked to be compensated for his help.”
Draco felt as though the floor fell from under him. Severus tensed even more if that was possible. No, surely not. Draco watched his father hold his mother back from interfering. Fear now clouded both their faces.
“How is he to be compensated, My Lord?”
It was Severus that voiced the question after Voldemort had not been any more forthcoming. The cruel smirk that appeared on the mad-mans face made Draco want to be sick.
“Fenrir.”
The werewolf licked his lips as he leered at Draco who was now beginning to shake. “I want the boy.”
“No!”
“Cissa, please.”
It was Severus’ grip only that kept Draco on his feet. His world was spinning and his shields were none existent in his shock and fear. He was going to be sick. Oh Merlin no. Please no.
“Control your wife, Lucius.” Voldemort sneered.
“My Lord.” Severus’ voice rang clear. “Forgive me my interruption, but Draco is a little older than Greyback’s normal conquests.”
“I do not care.” Fenrir spoke over Severus. “He is so pretty.” The werewolf ran a clawed finger down Draco’s cheek.
Draco flinched back into Severus making the wolf laugh. Severus was tense against his back, so tense he was almost vibrating.
“It was Fenrir’s request for the boy. I do not ask questions but I will deliver to have his support.”
“I won’t allow this…”
“Crucio.”
Narcissa cried out as she fell to the floor. Lucius made to move to help his wife but one glare from Voldemort had him freezing. Draco tried to move to his mother but Severus held him tight.
Voldemort released the curse. “Do not interrupt again, Narcissa. You are only here so you can know of your sons fate. Nothing you do will change it.”
Narcissa stood up on unsteady legs leaning on Lucius for support. Draco looked to Severus for help, for anything. Severus kept his face void of any emotion, his shields and walls fully erected and holding strong. The only thing off about the man was the sweat on his face. He glanced down at Draco giving his arm a soft squeeze.
“Perhaps it would be best to wait until Draco is out of school. For him to suddenly disappear would create multiple questions.”
“You smell strongly of the Potter boy, Snape.” Fenrir growled with a glare at the spy. It was almost like the monster was trying to bait Severus. Draco shivered nervously.
Severus only tensed briefly. He sneered at the werewolf. “The Potter brat is currently staining my private rooms with his presence. The Dark Lord is already aware of the inconvenience.”
“Inconvenience?” Fenrir barked. “Why not just bring the boy here?”
“I have plans for the Potter boy, Fenrir.” Voldemort said suspiciously calm. “There are still steps that must be taken before I face him. He is fine where he is for now, under Severus’ careful eye.”
The werewolf growled making Draco flinch. “I will have the boy.” He reached out, grabbed Draco’s arm, and pulled him harshly from Severus’ grip.
Draco squealed. There was no other word for it. He panicked. He flailed, dug his heels in, and reached to Severus grabbing him again. Severus almost fell over from the force of Greyback pulling on Draco.
“Draco!” Severus snapped. Draco was too far gone to tell if he was snapping at him for being so panicked or what. He couldn’t go with this monster. Dear Merlin help him.
“Enough!” Voldemort yelled before he slammed Severus with Crucio. Draco cried out letting go of the man as he fell with a cry. Fenrir threw Draco behind him as he stalked up to Severus who lay shaking on the floor.
Draco did not see what happened next. One minute he was standing with the intent on helping Severus, how he did not know, and the next he was on his hands and knees hurling his stomach contents onto the grass. A cool hand held onto his arm while another rubbed against his back.
“Easy, Draco. Deep breaths for me.”
It was Edge. Draco felt very little relief but did as the vampire instructed. He was shaking all over. “Please, you have to help Severus.” He mumbled shakily but knew the vampire would hear him.
“Severus is not in need of rescuing just yet.”
Draco looked at the vampire like he was crazy.
“He is talking his way through it.” Edge continued. “They have noticed you have gone. They are more concerned with that at present time.”
“But they will torture him.” Draco felt another wave of nausea course through him making him gag.
“Maybe.” Edge placed a cool hand against the back of Draco’s neck. “Severus is strong and has protections.”
Draco took a couple deep breaths trying to settle himself down. He looked at Edge to find the vampire staring at the manor intently. “He’s sick. He won’t be able to handle much.”
“I know.” Edge glanced down at Draco giving him a small halfhearted smile. “Have faith, little dragon.” He turned back to watching the manor.
Draco decided to ignore the nickname and focus on getting his breathing and stomach under control. Have faith? It seemed almost impossible at this point in time, but Edge had come through and saved him. What other choice did he have at the moment?
“Greyback is pissed. He keeps trying to blame Severus.”
Draco listened as Edge gave him a play by play of what was happening while grumbling under his breath. He was unsure if he really wanted to know.
“That man really does have a way with words.” Edge flinched telling Draco that Voldemort must be using Crucio again. “I hate just standing here.” The vampire growled, tense and clearly anxious. Edge stood leaving Draco sitting in the grass with his head between his knees. “He’s letting him go. Come, Draco.”
Edge was urgent in getting Draco to move. Draco stumbled to his feet and followed the spotted leopard that paused at the wards and shifted again.
“Damn it. You will need to cross just as Severus does. If you cross separately they will know you have left the grounds. We can’t have that just yet.”
Draco shivered. “But Greyback, can’t he smell…”
Edge shook his head. “No. I can hide my scent from detection should I need to. Flitting will greatly dilute yours. It will take him a bit to find your scent on the grounds.” Edge sounded calm but his fidgeting gave away his nervousness. He clearly wanted to get both Draco and Severus back to Hogwarts into safety. Damn if Draco didn’t want that as well.
They spotted Severus moving slowly toward the gates and Draco readied himself. He timed it perfectly stepping across the wards just as the dark haired man did. Edge sighed with relief before shifting and crossing, nudging Draco toward Severus who apparated them all back to Hogwarts. Severus collapsed almost immediately.
“Severus!”
Draco knelt beside his godfather as Edge checked him over quickly. There were no visible wounds, thankfully, but the man was shivering and sweat poured off his face. Draco noticed a small bangle glowing slightly on his right wrist before Edge lifted the unconscious man into his arms.
“I’ll take him to the Hospital Wing. Draco, go inform Dumbledore then go stay with Harry. He will want to leave the rooms but don’t let him. I will be there as soon as I can.”
Draco hurried to do as he was told, for once not caring about being ordered around like a house elf. Tell Dumbledore. That part was easy. Keeping Harry in Severus’ rooms was going to be another matter entirely.

Harry paced and paced and paced. The rug in front of the fireplace would be worn completely out by the time the night was over if he kept it up. Harry did not care. Harry did not notice.
He had been glad when Remus and Sirius had come to sit with him while Severus and Draco were away, but it wasn’t long before his anxiety had him up pacing and ignoring his godfathers. Was Severus okay? Was Draco okay? Would Edge be able to keep them both safe? Severus would never allow himself to be saved before Draco. How was the man even a Slytherin at this point? Harry shook his head. This was not helping.
Severus acting weird was not helping either. He had noticed the man was off the minute he woke up. His scent had shifted and he smelled, not wrong, but definitely off. Severus looked paler than normal and weak. Harry was concerned the man was coming down with something but he had been waved off. Severus had then informed him of Voldemorts summons and Harry had been distracted with other worries. That was until Severus had come out after changing looking feverish. Severus shouldn’t have left but he had had no choice. Harry gritted his teeth together in frustration.
Sirius and Remus looked at each other with worrying looks but Harry ignored them. They had tried to distract him to no avail. Severus had shut the link between them and it was all Harry could focus on. What was happening? Had something gone wrong? Why would Severus lock him out if everything was fine? Harry reached out multiple times to no success.
“Even turn me?”
The phrase ran on repeat in Harry’s mind. Did Severus know something they did not? Did the man actually want to be turned or was the question just that, a question? Harry growled shaking his head and pulling at his hair. What was the point of it? Harry didn’t want Severus to die. Even if he would come back the man would still have to die. Was that what Severus was worried about? Did Severus believe he was going to die? Panic coursed through Harry.
“Harry.”
What if Severus was already dead? Had Voldemort killed him? Was that what was taking so long?
“Harry.”
Would Edge even be able to save them? If Severus was dead, was Draco also dead? Harry felt cold, so very, very cold.
“HARRY!”
Harry jolted looking back at Remus and Sirius watching him carefully. They seemed tense like they were ready to jump on him. What? His eyes settled on Draco behind them. The blonde had looked better. His hair was in complete disarray, his robes were filthy, and he looked sickly pale. Fear and worry was thick in his scent.
“Draco…”
“Edge told me to come here. He took Severus to the Hospital Wing but he wants you to stay here for the moment.” Draco said in a rush. “Please stay here.”
Stay here? Severus was in the Hospital Wing and they wanted him to stay here? Fuck that.
Harry flitted only to be grabbed and threw back. He quickly rolled back to his feet. Cobalt stood in front of the door, head lowered. Draco stood just behind him with Remus, the blondes silver blue eyes were wide in surprise and mild panic. Harry only felt a brief moment of guilt. Draco had obviously been through a lot tonight already but he had to see Severus.
“Let me go.”
Cobalt snorted. *No.*
Harry growled and charged. Cobalt braced himself but Harry jumped over him at the last second. Moony was suddenly there, standing fully up on his rear legs, his front paws catching Harry in the abdomen pushing him back into the room. Draco had shied into a corner by the door by this point trying to make himself as small as possible.
*Edge asked that you remain here. There must be a good reason, Harry.* Cobalt stated making note of where Draco had moved to.
Harry shook his head. “I have to…”
*Edge is not keeping Severus from you, Harry. He will be here soon to explain things.* Moony stepped into the room closer to the destressed vampire. *Can you not feel Severus?*
Harry paused. “Feel him?”
Moony nodded. *You have a mental link to him. Can you not feel him through that?*
“I…” Harry’s panic made it hard to think. “He’s blocked me.”
*So you can feel him. Harry, if you can feel him then he is okay. He is still alive.* Moony gently touched his nose to Harry’s face. *Severus is alive, Cub.*
Harry trembled wrapping his arms around himself. He reached out again. The connection was still blocked but he could feel the life on the other side. Severus may be hurt but he was alive. Harry felt himself relax some his arms wrapping around his Guardian. A hurt Severus could be healed. He breathed in the scent of wolf. Moony was calm which helped wonders to sooth his nerves.
Harry released a shaky sigh stepping away. “Thank you.” Worry still filled him but it was at least manageable.
Cobalt and Moony both returned to their human shapes. Remus gave Harry another hug which Harry returned gratefully. “It’s what we are here for.” The man whispered.
Harry stepped away and turned to Draco. “I’m so sorry. What happened?”
It took a moment for Draco to remove himself from the corner. Sirius dug into the alcohol Severus kept giving both Harry and Draco some. The situation certainly called for it. Draco explained everything that happened at the meeting.
“He was giving you to Greyback?!”
Draco shivered downing what was left in his glass. It was nowhere near enough to completely sooth his frayed nerves. He nodded. “Yeah.”
Remus had started his own pacing. Sirius looked grim. “Dumbledore will think of something.” He stated but sounded unsure.
Harry looked at them both. He was sitting beside Draco offering support the best he could. Focusing on Draco currently was the only way he was staying put. “He’ll have to go somewhere else, won’t he? Draco can’t stay here.”
“Draco will stay in my rooms.” They all turned to watch Edge walk into the room shutting the door lightly behind him. Harry stood but Edge motioned for him to sit back down. “Severus is fine. Currently resting and recovering. Poppy has dosed him with multiple potions. He should be back to his old self by tomorrow evening.”
Harry sat back down heavily as relief rushed through him. Draco gave him a small nudge sending him a comforting smile. Harry returned it weakly.
Edge all but collapsed on the sofa beside Sirius. “Draco will have his lessons with Harry for the foreseeable future. If he goes anywhere it will need to be as Silver.” He sent Draco an apologetic look. “Short of sending you into a safe house it was the best we could do.”
Draco nodded. It had been better than what he was expecting. “Thank you.”
Edge noted the drinks. “Can I have some of that?”
Sirius silently poured glass for the vampire who downed the whole thing without even a flinch.
“Did you even taste that?” Sirius teased.
Edge huffed. “It doesn’t even do anything anyway, but just going through the motions help.” He laid his head back against the sofa looking back at Remus. “Greyback didn’t get his teeth into either one of them. Come sit down.”
Harry couldn’t help but be in awe with his Sire. It was like the vampire knew everything that was bothering them without being told. How did he do it?
Remus sat on the other side of Edge stiffly. “He’ll find Draco eventually. He always finds his targets.”
Harry felt protectiveness of his friend rise in his chest as Draco shivered beside him.
“Greyback won’t touch Draco. Not while he’s with me.” Edge sounded so sure, so self-confidant, that no one could argue with him.
They all sat in silence. No one seemed willing to move. It was so late, actually early morning at this point but none of them seemed willing to depart for bed.
Edge groaned. “Comfort pile? Who’s in?”
Harry bolted up and was gathering blankets before the others could move.
“Comfort pile?” Draco questioned as Harry began sorting the blankets and pillows in front of the fireplace.
Edge nodded. He moved tiredly out of the way to stand next to Draco. “Yes. We all curl together for comfort.” He gave a soft, amused smirk. It did not reach his eyes. “A glorified puppy pile if you will.”
Sirius snorted. “More like you two leech the warmth from us.”
Harry blushed and Edge simply shrugged. “It is what it is.” Edge turned his attention back to Draco as the two Guardians shifted and started making themselves comfortable. “You are not required to join us, Draco if it makes you uncomfortable.”
Draco sat on the small sofa and watched the four creatures situate themselves in the makeshift bed of blankets and pillows in front of the fire. Cobalt nosed two of the blankets around until he was satisfied, turning circles before lying down with a huff and stretching out on his side. Moony curled up with his own blankets leaving a small amount of space for the two vampires between them. Multiple blankets made up a small cushioned area that they rested on while more was used to cover them. Multiple pillows had been brought out; one for each of them, with an extra for Draco should he want it. Where did Harry even find that many blankets? The two vampires rested in between the two large wolves most definitely soaking up the warmth for all it was worth. He had to admit it did look very comfortable. Much more so than going to an empty bed by himself.
Harry lifted his head to look at his newest friend. “Come on, Draco. You can sleep as Silver if you want.”
He could? Draco thought about it moment. He really did not want to be alone right now. Both vampires chuckled at the little jackal as he jumped into their pile nestling close between Harry and Moony. Moony simply sighed and closed his eyes. It didn’t take long for the three canines to be asleep.
Harry yawned. Edge smiled softly at him. “Go to sleep, young one. You can see Severus tomorrow evening.”
Edge using Harry’s pet name sent a warm and calming feeling through him. He snuggled close to his Sire taking in his unique scent while enjoying the warmth that radiated from the two large wolves.
“You sure he’s okay?”
“He was snarking and grumbling at Poppy before I left, completely doped on potions.” Edge buried his nose in his Childes hair closing his eyes. “I am sure he will be fine.”
Harry smiled. That sounded exactly like Severus. Just before he closed his eyes he reached back out to the man in question. Nothing had changed. The wall was still there. Harry sighed but knocked softly, tentatively. Harry felt relief when a soft knock was heard back. Severus was healing and wanted his privacy. Harry could respect that.
Good morning, Harry.
It whispered through Harry’s mind as he fell asleep feeling comforted, not only by his family surrounding him, but by the love he felt coming from the other side of their connection.
