Thanks so much for all of you that reviewed chapter 27 of Living! It meant so much to me.
Living Chapter 28
Severus stood by the mantle of his fireplace studying Hermione's face. She'd been sitting there nibbling at her bottom lip for the past fifteen minutes. Not only was it damn distracting watching her do that, but also it made him a bit turned on. He knew what he'd like to be doing to her lips right now and he needed to not be sidetracked by baser thoughts.
"What is running through that brilliant mind of yours," he finally asked. She looked up at him like she'd finally recognized that he was still in the same room as her.
"I was just thinking."
"That's nothing new, but about what?"
She looked up at him with a scowl, "About how much I hate that man."
Severus didn't need to know whom she was speaking of because he hated the man almost as much as Hermione did. Dolohov had always been on a list of Death Eaters that he'd stayed clear of unless the Dark Lord needed them to work on something together. Antonin was an evil man who never showed mercy to any of his victims. Hermione had been lucky to be alive after his attack on her during the Battle at the Department of Mysteries. If he hadn't been silenced, she wouldn't be sitting in the same room as him. Severus was frankly surprised that the two nitwits, Theo and Justin, were still running amuck at Hogwarts after the many blunders they had made the past several months. Maybe Dolohov's army was in short supply at the moment and he had to take whom he could to carry out his plans.
"How are we going to stop him Severus? I'm not sure I have it in me to do this again." Her voice cracked as she sat stiffly on the sofa.
Severus didn't know if he did either, but they didn't have a choice. All of them had been targeted again. Who else would know how to stop this new despot and his minions?
He sat down taking her cold hands into his, "I don't have all of the answers right now Hermione, but I do know we can't just not do anything while he gathers more and more followers."
"Do we get the Ministry involved? What if Dolohov has already gotten to them just like Voldemort did."
"It's just even more important that we be ever vigilant as we go about the castle. Also, no one goes out alone at any time. We've already seen the disastrous results of that with what happened to you." Severus looked at Hermione who looked nervously back at him.
"I didn't know at the time what a dangerous place Hogwarts had become. You know I wouldn't…why are you smirking at me?" Hermione asked with knitted brows.
"I do know you Miss Granger and how you and your friends have had trouble keeping to rules since you set foot in this castle many years ago." Severus couldn't control his smile.
Hermione's frown turned into a smile because she knew she couldn't disagree with him without lying. "Ok, you win Professor Snape and I promise I will do as you suggest." She turned and sat on his lap, putting her arms around his neck. "I will only do that if you reward me tonight ahead of time for following your directions, " she said saucily.
He gave her his typically signature look he'd always been famous for, "You know how to drive a hard bargain, but I'm game." He pulled her even closer as his lips descended onto hers.
"I don't like it. I just don't like it." Ron said for the tenth or eleventh time. Harry and Ginny were so sick of listening to him they wanted to hex him.
"We need to do something and sitting around waiting for something to happen isn't a good plan." Ginny said as she leaned up against Harry on one of the sofas in the Room of Requirement.
"Hermione said that we needed to wait until Professor Snape had more of a plan in place."
Harry looked at Ron, his face contorting with puzzlement, "Since when do you listen to anything that Severus Snape has to say without argument?"
"Since we found out that another Dark Lord is threatening us again. Last time we went on our own. This time we have someone who knows something about bad guys; especially this bad guy." Ron said. He sat back and crossed his arms in front of himself defensively.
"What is this world coming to when my brother is starting to make sense?" Ginny said with a sparkle of mischief in her eye.
"I still think we need to let Kingsley know about this. I can see why Snape is hesitant, but I can't see Kingsley going bad. I'd much rather go into this with the help of the ministry and the Aurors behind us." Harry said.
"I think it's already gotten big enough that we do need more than us; me, you, Ron, Hermione and Professor Snape. I have an idea and I don't know why no one has thought of this yet." Ginny said getting up to stretch, as they'd been sitting discussing things for a while.
"What? I can see a spark of determination in your eyes," Harry said with a grin.
"Think about it…The Order of the Phoenix. Every time the Dark Lord was rising up again, that's when The Order kicked into gear." Ginny's face became flushed with excitement.
Harry sat and thought about what Ginny had said. There were still many people alive from the old Order. Just here at Hogwarts there were Snape, Professor McGonagall, Ron, Hermione and him. There was also Kingsley, Percy, George, Mr. & Mrs. Weasley and many others. Ginny would join now and he could think of many others that would jump at the chance to fight off a new Dark Lord.
"She's right." Harry said quietly. " We can't wait any longer, just like Ron said."
"Thank you," Ron said slapping his own thigh.
"We need to get Severus and Hermione here and talk about regrouping and how to let the others know."
"I'll do it Harry." Ginny pulled her galleon out with the protean charm on it. Sending a message quickly to Hermione she went and sat back down next to Harry. "Now we wait until they get here."
"Even if Snape says no, I'm still getting in touch with Kingsley. He needs to know what's been happening here at Hogwarts. We can't fight this alone and frankly I'm tired of us always being the ones to do it."
"Right, that Hero Fatigue finally catching up with you Harry?" Ron asked with a snicker.
"Fuck you Ron," Harry replied with a laugh.
Hermione felt something burning in her pocket. Damn she was always being interrupted. Sitting up away from Severus she pulled her charmed galleon out and read it. "Ginny says we need to head to our meeting room. They have something important to discuss with us."
Severus looked troubled at hearing her words. "Did she say what it's about?"
"No, she just said, "Come ASAP! We must talk now!" Hermione explained. "I think all of her exclamation marks in her message was the key that something important is happening." She pushed against his chest and climbed off of him with a groan.
"Your friends seem to always interrupt us. It's like they have a special charm that signals whenever we start snogging or more." He stood to brush off any imaginary lint that could've been there.
"Let's go. It's not like we had anything else to do this Saturday afternoon." Hermione said with a sigh.
Severus wrapped his arms around her from behind, his breath tickling her ear, "I was just getting to something else that I know I'd rather be doing than talking to Potter or the Weasleys. Such as something that would involve you naked and in my bed." He started to place slow, soft, kisses along the side of her neck. She leaned her head back against his solid chest as his hands came up to cup her breasts.
"I can feel what your something else is, but get it under control now," she turned around smirking, "I think this would be a dead giveaway about what we were up to." Her hand slid along his front, feeling his obvious erection.
"That's not helping," Severus spat out with a grimace while gritting his teeth. "Maybe taking you over my knee, tearing off your knickers and giving you a hard spanking would help you behave." His hands smoothed down her back until they landed on her behind pressing her into him again.
Hermione moaned stepping back, "Oh, no. That wouldn't work at all." They flung themselves at each other one more time, their lips sliding and nipping, while feeling the heat rise between them.
Severus pushed them apart with a groan and a deep breath, "If we don't stop this now, we'll never get out of my rooms and then those nitwits will be pounding on my door while I'm pounding into…"
Hermione laughed and pushed him towards the door, "Severus Snape stop it now. Gods you have a one track mind." She suddenly stopped and turned around looking at him, "The problem is, we seem to think alike most of the time."
Giving him a wink she rushed out the door, as Severus closed and warded his rooms not wanting to have any unwanted visitors while they were out.
"What's taking them so long?" Ron asked as he paced in the room.
"They are in the dungeons and we're on the seventh floor, so it's takes a while to get up here." Ginny said rolling her eyes like she was taking to a two-year- old.
"Maybe they were busy doing others things." Harry said with a laugh and a raised eyebrow. He looked over at Ron hoping to get a reaction.
"Oh, no, I don't want that picture in my mind. That's just not right Harry." Ron did a fake gag in the corner and held his head in his hands.
"Whether you like it or not brother, Hermione and Severus are an item and I don't see it stopping any time soon."
Just then the door opened with Severus and Hermione walking in, the first not looking too happy that he'd been summoned to meet with them right now.
"So what is so urgent that we needed to meet on one of my only days I'm not teaching you lot?" Snape said as he flounced down on the nearest sofa next to the roaring fire. His stare was almost as heated as the fire next to him. Harry and Ron looked at each other nodding their heads no, and then looked at Ginny. Harry heard her mutter, "Oh my word," under her breath.
Ginny started to speak, "Well…I had an idea."
"Congratulations. Can we go now?" Snape said in a belligerent tone.
"Severus," Hermione said glaring at him in reprimand that only she could do. "We got here as soon as we could. What's happening? We really do want to know."
"We," Ginny said looking at Harry and Ron, "We think that we should start up The Order of The Phoenix again."
If looks could kill…Severus couldn't believe what he'd heard and his face showed it.
"I think that's a brilliant idea!" Hermione said jumping up and hugging Ginny. "We do need more help and especially someone outside of Hogwarts. Have you contacted Kingsley?"
"Wait one moment. I thought we'd decided it wasn't safe yet." His eyes stared daggers at all of them. "We need to be more certain that Dolohov and his cronies haven't infiltrated the Ministry yet." Severus stood up alongside Hermione.
"We can't just sit here and wait until something else happens. Things are going to get worst, not better; just like last time." Now Ron was standing up next to Snape as the two men scowled at one another. It looked like a true showdown, from the looks of hate bouncing between them to their hands both ready to draw out their wands.
Harry stood up now hoping he could ease the tension that had clearly built up between the two men. Stepping between them he said, "That's why we're here discussing it now. No one has done anything yet and there's no reason for anyone to be getting upset. The both of you need to sit and calm down." Harry's voice had only risen a bit, but they were said with conviction.
Ginny and Hermione were both surprised when Ron sat down first, with Severus doing so next. Harry had always been a leader and was becoming one more and more. Seeing Severus actually listening to him seemed to turn things around in all of their minds. It was a new era and things were slowly changing, especially with seeing how Dolohov had made himself the new Dark Lord and had a huge following. Many of their former leaders had died in The Battle of Hogwarts. So as adults now, they all had to step it up even more than before.
"We're not doing anything until we go to Minerva, this is her school now and she deserves to know first what our plans are." Severus said. "We talked about it a week ago and it never happened."
"Well, whose fault is that?" Ron asked snidely, his words making Severus scowl his way.
"Weasley…you're still my student and I can still deduct points for your mouth shooting off."
"Ron, she's been gone from the castle for several days and now she's been busy with every day things. We're going to meet with her tomorrow for tea. Would you three like to join us? With more of us involved she'll be more likely to believe us." Hermione said with excitement.
"Yes, we will," Harry answered for all of them, not even looking over at the siblings.
Severus stood then, "Well, if that's all, Hermione and I had a previous engagement. We will see you all tomorrow at 2:00 at the Headmistress's office." He reached over grabbing Hermione's hand and pulled her out of the room, with her barely having a chance to wave goodbye.
"Engagement my arse. The only thing he'll be engaged in is doing her. " Ron said red faced.
"Must you be so crude?" Ginny asked. "Your jealously is getting tiring and it's your own bloody fault. You had your chance with Hermione one too many times and you blew it. So why don't you go somewhere else so Harry and I can spend a second alone together." She stuck her tongue out at him like they were still kids.
Ron looking affronted and stood up muttering, "I can tell when I'm not wanted."
As he left the room he heard, "Well, it's about time," then Ginny and Harry laughed as the door shut.
Minerva McGonagall sat stone faced as she glanced at the group of people currently having tea with her. She was a bit surprised when not only Severus and Hermione walked through the door, but were also accompanied by Harry, Ginny, and Ron. Not saying anything, they'd all taken the seats that she'd conjured, since they needed more than the two that were already in front of her desk.
The Hogwarts's elves had brought in tea and served them with fresh biscuits straight out of the oven. The slurping and munching was becoming annoying as she knew that they weren't all here just to take tea with her. With this lot there was always an ulterior motive.
"So," she said looking at each of them, "What do I owe the pleasure of having this visit today? Out with it." Then her eyes went straight to Severus. Out of all of them currently sitting there, he was the least likely that would want to be sitting there drinking tea and snacking on biscuits on a lazy Sunday afternoon, so she knew something was up.
The four students sat back while Severus took the lead. "Yes, Minerva, we've discovered a problem that has been causing much havoc here at Hogwarts."
"Yes? What would that problem be?" she asked praying for patience right now as she'd just dealt with some Hufflepuffs that had thought it would be funny to turn each other into Hippogriffs, but had only half worked. They both had feathers all over their bodies, large beaks and talons on their feet. It had taken several hours to reverse the spells with healers from St Mungos in attendance. In fact, the two fourth years had been transported there for observation at the insistence of their parents. What was this world coming to when it was Hufflepuffs getting into this kind of trouble when usually it was the Gryffindors, such as the ones currently sitting in front of her? Her lips curled into a smile looking at Miss Granger, thinking back to when she'd turned herself into part cat with Polyjuice potion that she'd incredibly brewed in her second year. Her thoughts were brutally interrupted by the words that were said next.
"Death Eaters are here at Hogwarts." The words coming from Severus's mouth turned her blood cold. But, the next words made her almost kill over, "They are being led by a new Dark Lord, Antonin Dolohov."
This seemed a good place to stop. There is more that they will discuss and The Order will get back together in the next chapter. I'm excited about that! Let me know what you think should, could or will happen. I always love to see if you are on the same wavelength as me. Reviews are always welcomed! See you next time.
