Chapter 29
--
Moody was furious.
There had been a change of plans, thanks to that evil little twerp. Instead of meeting in a nice secluded place
where an attack would go relatively unnoticed by the rest of the world, the
whelp had decided to meet the remaining Order members in the middle of Diagon
Alley. On a Saturday, no less! He’d met up with his small group of
resistors to modify their plan. The
basic idea was still the same. They’d
go for the kill. They would be hiding
amongst the members of the Order as well as the patrons of Diagon Alley, in
hopes that the Dark Prince would not be able to identify them all.
Moody was just walking towards Gringotts, where he would be
stationed, when he was confronted by McGonagall and Remus Lupin.
“What do you two think you are doing! Unhand me at once,” he sneered as they each
grabbed an elbow. Remus used his free
hand to relieve Moody of his wand.
“We can’t let you do this Alastor,” Remus began. “This will only infuriate them, and push
them away. If we let this go on, the
people will feel the backlash. Right
now, they are both willing to compromise.
You do this and it will ruin everything.”
Moody struggled to free himself. “I have no idea as to what you are talking about, Lupin.”
“Alastor, we know what you are planning to do. We know who is in your little vigilante
group. And we will not let this plan
procede,” McGonagall said sternly. “We
may have given up hope of ridding the world of You-Know-Who and his son, but wee noe not stupid. We still have spies,
Moody.”
Moody was furious.
“Who told you? I’ll rip them to
shreds! No, you’re lying. I’d never be so lax in vigilance as to let a
spy into my ranks. I know better!” He was still struggling to get free of his
captors.
“Stupefy!”
Moody slumped between the two holding him.
“Of course, Professor.
Now, when are they getting here?
The rest of the group has been rounded up. Have you agreed as to who will be talking to them? I can, you know, I know both of them extremely
well,” Cho rambled.
McGonagall turned away from Moody to look at the girl. “That won’t be necessary Ms. Chang. I will be the mediator at this meeting.”
Remus and McGonagall went to move Moody to the group of
prisoners. Neither of them saw the
furious look on Cho’s face as they left.
--
Raithos was comfortable.
Extremely comfortable. He loved
his bed at Riddle Mansion, it was so soft, and warm. He snuggled down into the nest of blankets he’d wrapped around
himself in the middle of the night. The
meeting with the Order was today. Remus
had warned him of the plot of Moody’s, so Draco had decided to change the
meeting place to Diagon Alley. That
way…
“Arghh!” Rait
scr
screamed as he was pushed out of his bed.
He landed painfully on his side.
He looked up to see a pair of glittering gray eyes staring back at him,
their owner laughing gleefully.
“Co! What the fuck!”
Draco just kept laughing.
“Your face…God…so funny!” he gasped out.
Raithos pulled himself upright and stalked back to the bed
to stare down at his laughing partner.
“Oh you are so going to pay for that you arsehole!”
Draco stood up to move in front of Raithos.
“What are you going to do about it?” he challenged.
Raithos let out a battle cry and tackled Draco around the
waist, knocking them to the floor. They
wrestled with each other, each one trying their hardest to come out on top of
the other, grunting and cursing the whole time.
“Stupid git! Just
give up already!”
“Never! Just…Ow you
prick! That hurt!”
“Poor…baby…gonna cry now?”
“You wish!”
“Ha!” Draco yelled,
finally, as he pinned Raithos’ hands underneath him. “Get out of that, why don’t you.”
Raithos looked up at Draco’s flushed face, and decided that
he’d never seen anything quite so beautiful in his life. He grinned at the absolute sappiness of his
thoughts and arched his hips into those on top of him.
Draco’s look of triumph quickly turned into one of
want.
“Do you know your eyes cross when I do that?” Raithos asked
cheekily, arching up again.
Draco’s eyes fluttered shut.
“Always have to be…the cheeky bastard. Don’t you,” he moaned, letting the pleasure
wash through his body as Raithos continued to move against him. Raithos shifted to wrap his legs around
Draco’s waist.
“Oh no you don’t, this time it’s my turn,” Draco
whispered as he flipped them over.
--
Diagon Alley was unusually busy the Saturday after
Christmas. Remus, McGonagall, and the
rest of the Order were currently sitting outside of a little restaurant, the
Magico, at the patio tables. Raithos
and Draco were to be there in just a few minutes.
“You need to handle this, Minerva. He knows where I stand,” Remus said quietly.
“I know, Remus. I
only hope that with enough open support, they won’t run us out of our world.”
With a loud crack, two elegant men appeared in front of the
grof pof people sitting outside the Magico.
They were, as usual, dressed as opposites. Raithos was again dressed all in black, wearing a sleeveless
shirt to proudly display his Mark.
Draco was dressed in gray, standing at Raithos’ right hand. They approached the table where Remus and
McGonagall sat with neutral expionsions.
“Remus, hello,” Draco said cordially. Raithos and Draco had agreed beforehand that
Draco would do the talking until the group gave Raithos a reason to acknowledge
their presence. So Raithos stationed
himself just behind Draco, with his arms folded across his chest.
While having the open support of the remaining members of
the Order of the Phoenix would be extremely helpful, Raithos was not going to
bargain with them for it. He was not
going to debase himself in anyway for these people, who had used him for song.ong. His father was trying to change
the world, and Raithos was going to see it done. These people would have to accept those changes, or they would
find themselves in some very serious trouble.
The wizarding world had been too long under the control of muggle
supporters like Albus Dumbledore, and they’d forgotten what it meant to be a
wizard. Raithos and his father were
going to remind them.
“Please, sit,” Remus said as he motioned to the empty chairs
in front of him and McGonagall. They
sat down gracefully, expressions still disinterested and cool. “We have Mad-eye and his group bound in the
restaurant, for you to take with you when you leave.”
“We’ve no need of them, aurors will be here shortly to see
they are taken care of,” Draco replied.
He faced McGonagall. “I believe
there was a purpose to this meeting?”
McGonagall cleared her throat. “Yes. We would like to
offer our support, in exchange for a few…”
“In exchange for nothing!” Raithos hissed. So much for keeping quiet. Draco rolled his eyes at his fiancé.yes"> You will either give your support willingly, or this meeting is
over. I’ve no need for supporters who’s
interests are not my own,” Raithos said coldly, eyes boring into the woman
seated across from him. He placed one
hand on the table, and leaned towards her, eyes narrowing. “It matters not if you chose to support the
new rule of the wizarding world. It is
in your best interest to do so, for no matter what you may believe, we are not
here to destroy it. We are here to save
it. If you’ve objections to that, we
will take our leave.” Raithos leaned
back in his chair as he finished, his hand still stretched out on the table,
his Mark visible to all.
McGonagall paled slightly.
Remus had told them what he thought would happen if they went into the
meeting with demands, and the werewolf had been right. They’d hoped to bargain somewhat with the
two students, but it seemed that would be impossible. They’d had quite a long discussion about whether or not to remain
supportive if this situation cropped up.
The Order members had argued vehemently until someone brought up
You-Know-Who’s onal nal plans. Before
the murder of his wife. Plans that were
now being brought to fruition.
“Very well,” she said, somewhat shaken. “You will have our support. An interview has been set up later this
evening with the Prophet. Remus and I
will explain the Order’s position.”
Draco nodded.
“Good. You’ve made a wise
decision.”
The two teens stood to leave, but were stopped by
McGonagall. She looked at Raithos for a
moment before she spoke.
“Many of us supported your father’s ideas before he became
You-Know-Who. It was only afterwards
that the Order was formed,” she said quietly.
Raithos was silent for a minute. When he spoke, he voice was firm, but not without a touch of
warmth.
“Albus Dumbledore manipulated this world to a greater extent
than we’ll ever be able to comprehend.
I believe he was so supportive of muggles and muggle-borns because he
knew it would weaken future generations of witches and wizards. They would be weaker, and thus easier for
him to control. Part of the reason
keeping our magic strong is so important, is to prevent that from happening
again. In the past years, the culture
of our world has been almost lost, save for a few families who make sure their
offspring know their history. Without
their culture, their history, people fade to nothing. We are trying to prevent that.”
McGonagall nodded.
The two boys turned and began to walk down Diagon Alley. The Order members began talking amongst
themselves, discussing the conversation that had just taken place. pan>pan>None of them noticed Cho slip away to follow
the boys.
--
Raithos and Draco left the meeting in somewhat better
spirits. They once again were getting
their way. The problem Order members
were being disposed of, they had the open support of the remaining members, who
were mostly Gryffindors, and an all out war hadn’t broken out in the process.
At the moment they were headed to the jeweler in Diagon
Alley to pick up their wedding bands.
Narcissa had convinced their fathers to proceed with the wedding
immediately. One can never have too
much good press, she’d said, and this wedding would be the biggest in at least
a century. It was to be a traditional
ceremony, which wasn’t seen very often anymore. Many witches and wizards had modified it to resemble the muggle
wedding ceremoniesd Rad Raithos and Draco’s wedding would serve to remind
people where they’d come from.
It was to take place in February, on the Pagan Holiday of
Imbolc. This was also to remind people
where their roots lay. The old holidays
weren’t widely celebrated any longer, and the wizarding world had long ago
combined Yule with the Christian Christmas.
Hundreds of guests were expected, and Raithos and Draco had special
permission from the new Headmaster to take two weeks off of school for the
event. The second week was to be spent
in France, in one of the Malfoy ancestral chateaus.
With the wedding only a little over a month away, Narcissa
had worked herself into a frenzy. She’d
called caterers, florists, musicians, and interior decorators, interviewing at
least ten of each before making the final decision. The wedding rings had been ordered two days ago, and the
ceremonial robes were to be fitted next week.
Raithos and Draco were more than happy to sit back and let her take the
reins. They had enough to worry about
with public appearances and interviews, discussions with law-wizards and taking
care of living arrangements for after the school year. They were to move into Riddle Mansion for
the better part of the year, with a wing in Malfoy Manor for frequent visits.
The two were discussion their next scheduled public
appearance, a romantic dinner for two in Hogsmeade next Saturday when they were
interrupted.
“Draco!
Raithos! Wait!” Cho yelled,
running after them.
They turned around to stare coldly at the girl before them.
Cho was taken aback for a moment before gathering her wits
and plastering a coy smile on her face.
“I thought you could both use some company on your little
trip,” she said, moving towards them with an extra sway to her step.
Raithos glanced over at Draco, a slightly disbelieving look
in his eyes. The girl couldn’t possibly
be that dumb.
Apparently she was.
Cho stepped in between the two and linked an arm with each, entwining
her fingers with theirs.
“I have to say, I never expected the two of you to get
together. Such a shame it didn’t happen
sooner, back when I was at Hogwarts.
Just think of the fun we could have had, together, instead of
separately,” she said seductively.
Raithos and Draco exchanged another glance before removing
their hands from hers and stepping back to stand with each other.
“Are you out of your mind?” Draco asked incredulously. “What in the world gave you the idea
that we would ever want to be with you?
We have each other, and I assure you, that is all we need.”
Cho took half a step backwards, confusion washing over her
features. People walking past the trio
were stopping to listen in.
“I…but…” Cho mentally shook herself before continuing. “Come now Draco, surely you don’t mean
that. Don’t you remember all the fun we
had back at school?” She reached out a hand to run a finger along Draco’s jaw,
to be stopped by a vice like grip on her wrist.
“Excuse me,” Raithos said menacingly, tightening his hold on
her arm. “I don’t believe he gave you
permission to touch him.”
“I don’t believe I’d ever give you permission to
touch me. It seems you are mistaking a
meaningless drunken rendezvous which I care never to repeat with some sort of
relationship,” Draco said, his trademark smirk firmly plastered on his face.
Cho tried to take another step back but the grasp on her
wrist was too strong. She turned to
look pleadingly at Raithos.
“You think I am going to help you out of this
one? You just attempted to molest my
fiancé. I should curse you right
here. So eager to get rid of Oliver,
Cho?” Raithos glanced behind her before
sliding his gaze back. “Would you? Get rid of him, I mean. For us?” he asked, taking a step towards
her, his whole demeanor changing to one of ease.
Draco had caught the glance Raithos threw behind Cho and got
the message. He stepped behind Raithos
to wrap his arms around him, and nuzzled his nose behind Raithos’ ear.
Cho gasped quietly, her face flushing pink.
“Yes, oh anything.
He means nothing to me; it was only out of convenience Raithos. I’ll get rid of him immediately, whatever
you say. I only used him. I went straight to Remus with the plan from
Moody, all for you. You and Draco,” she
said, breathing hard.
Raithos pulled her arm across her body, forcing her to spin
around. There, behind her, listening to
every word, was Oliver Wood. The
crushed look on his face quickly turned to anger. Raithos gave Cho a push forward, and she stumbled right into Wood
who pushed her away. Tears filled her
eyes as she fell to the street.
“How could you? I
thought…how could you Cho?” Wood whispered.
He turned and stalked away through the crowd. Cho looked around at the people gathered, searching for a
friendly face. There wasn’t a single
one.
Draco strode towards her fallen form, and leaned down to
whisper in her ear.
“How could you possibly think you could compare to him. You know what he’s like, I know you do. Did you really think you’d stand a chance
against that? Please.”
Draco stood and moved back over to Raithos. They took one last look at Cho before moving
on their way.

A/N: Woohoo! Almost done! I have to say, that finishing a story is so much harder than
starting one. This chapter really took
a long time to write. I don’t think it
turned out too bad, in the end.yes"> First comes Kindergarten, which is 5 year olds. Then comes grades 1-8. Then is 9th grade, also called
freshman, then 10th grade, sophomore, then 11th, junior,
then 12th, senior. In
college, freshman, sophomore, junior, senior is repeated. Most 9-12 grade schools are called high school,
while 6-8 is junior high, or middle school, and K-5 is elementary school.
