Chapter 29 Wedding Vows
At eleven fifty five, Sky was dressed, her hair expertly done by Effy. The elf also managed to come up with a small posy of flowers; Baby’s breath and royal blue morning glory in full bloom.
Minerva wondered how the elf managed to get the flowers to open at nearly midnight. But elves could do things even wizards could not and did not question her. Minerva was in her best robes and they were ready.
The Professor would not let Sky use the doors this time.
“A bride should walk willingly to her future husband, not appear through the nearest door. Come along.”
Sky followed her along the dungeon corridor, into the main hall and along another corridor to where the stone gargoyle sat.
Minerva rolled her eyes and said; ‘Wedded Bliss’ to the gargoyle and it moved aside, a grotesque grin on it’s face.
The two women stepped onto the spiral staircase and let it carry them up to the Headmasters’ office and Severus.
At the top, Minerva gave Sky the final once over. removing none existent bits of fluff and smoothing out creases that weren’t there.
“Are you ready Sky?” She asked softly.
She nodded and Minerva opened the door and stepped inside.
Severus, who was already standing in front of Albus’ desks and still nervously fingering his collar, turned.
He watched Minerva enter and looked to the door again. When he saw Sky framed in the doorway, his breath caught in his throat. He thought he had never seen a more lovelier vision the what he was seeing now.
Sky seemed to glow. She looked breathtaking. His nervousness forgotten, he stepped forward and held out his hand. He wanted to say something but his throat wouldn’t work so instead he just looked at her.
He’d been worried Minerva would dress Sky up to look like a three tier cake. But that gown looked perfect on her. More to the point, she made the gown look perfect.
Onyx on midnight, their eyes met and locked. He walked her to the front of Albus’ desk.
When Sky saw Severus from her position in the doorway, her breath caught in her throat. He looked so handsome. His hair was sleek and shiny, pulled back and tied at the nape of his neck. His robes, though still black, looked much nicer then the ones he usually wore. She felt like she could have eaten him up. And the way he was looking at her made her belly do flips.
Minerva stood slightly behind them as Albus twinkled at the couple.
Neither of them noticed, too busy staring into each others’ eyes.
“Are you both ready?” Albus asked.
The pair started slightly and looked to Albus. “We are.” Severus told him.
Sky turned her head when she heard a sniffle and saw the Founders in a large frame to the side of the room. The sniffle had come from Sal. She gave him a smile and turned back to the front when Severus gave her arm a small squeeze.
“Sorry.”
Albus twinkled at her from over his glasses. “Sky Morrigan. Do you come willingly to join yourself to Severus?”
She looked at the Headmaster blankly. Minerva leaned forward.
“Say yes.”
“Yes.”
“Severus Stuart Snape, do you come willingly to join yourself to Sky?”
“Yes.”
“Place your wands on the desk.”
Severus removed his wand from his sleeve and laid it on the desk.
Sky pulled hers from her posy of flowers and did the same before passing the flowers to Minerva.
“Sky. Do you offer yourself freely, agree to be bound body and soul to Severus? To love and care for him, hold him in your heart above all others? Be true to him, treat him always with kindness and respect. Offer solace when he is sad, share his joy when he is glad? Trust in his wisdom and abide by his commands as your husband?”
Minerva gave her another gentle nudge and Sky answered.
“Yes.”
Albus asked the same of Severus, omitting the last sentence as requested by Severus himself.
“Yes.” Severus replied.
Albus picked up a length of white cord from the desk. Minerva stepped forward and took Sky and Severus’ right hands and placed them together. Severus wrapped his fingers around Sky’s wrist and she automatically did the same to his.
Albus moved round the desk and wound the cord around their joined hands.
The cord tightened slightly and faded into nothingness but their hands remained bound.
A warm white light started to appear over their heads, growing and spreading until it reached the floor, encompassing them both and becoming brighter and brighter.
Sky’s stone started to glow and merge with the outer glow.
On the desk, the two wands moved together and crossed, white on black. Both wands shone with the same white radiance that covered the couple, brightening in unison with their glow.
Albus and Minerva could still see the light even with their eyes closed.
The light began to swirl around Severus and Sky, pressing them together as it changed colour: green and yellow, blue and maroon, silver and black, gold and white again until it faded and vanished.
The cord reappeared on their wrists and loosened.
Albus unwound the cord and laid it, coiled, on top of the wands where it seemed to wrap itself around them and disappear once more.
Effy toddled forward holding a small black silk cushion, on which rested two rings.
Severus picked one up and took hold of Sky’s left hand.
“Take this ring as a symbol of my love and fidelity to you. All that I am, all that I will be, is yours. Know that I shall always do everything in my power to protect you and shield you from hurt.”
He slipped the ring onto the third finger of her left hand.
It was too big, but as soon as it was in position it resized itself to fit.
Sky looked at him stunned as he let go of her hand and stood waiting. His expression expectant.
Effy held the cushion up to her and whispered
“Take the ring.”
Sky took the ring from the cushion and Effy slipped her a small piece of parchment at the same time.
With shaking hands, she took hold of Severus’ left hand and placed the ring to his finger, then read from the parchment without even realising what she was saying.
“Take this ring as a symbol of my love and fidelity to you. All that I am, all that I will be, is yours. I bestow my devotion on you and you alone and promise to obey you in all things. I promise to perform my duties as a wife at all times and dedicate my life and loyalty to you.”
She pushed the ring along his finger, and like her own, it resized to fit him.
“Congratulations.” Albus told them. “You are now man and wife. Severus, you may kiss your bride.”
Sky was pulled into his arms and her lips possessed by his. He kissed her passionately, his tongue entering her warmth and taking it over as she melted into him as desire engulfed her.
Severus broke the kiss. Her instant yielding to his kiss stirred him and he was already growing hard. It would not do to be stood here with his trousers tented.
Sky felt her knees buckle and when he broke the kiss, she almost dropped to the floor.
But Severus kept his hold on her until she was able to stand.
A loud harmony of voices began congratulating them, cheering and wishing them every happiness. Tears flowed and smiles abounded as all of the portraits in the Headmasters’ office wiped their eyes and looked down at the couple.
Minerva hugged first Sky and then Severus, who stiffened slightly in her embrace.
Effy stepped forward and bound herself to the Potions Master, taking him by surprise.
“Effy, what did you just do?” He asked the little elf.
“I is bound to both of yous now. You is bound to my mistress so I is bound to you. Is no more Morrigan’s now. So I is serving the house of the Snape’s.”
“Thank you Effy. I am honoured.”
Albus produced an official looking document and a white quill.
“If you would both sign your names, the contract will be legal and binding.”
Severus placed his signature on the parchment and Sky added hers below it.
Effy stepped forward and placed her small claw like hand over their names and the parchment sparkled for a split second before it rolled itself up and vanished with a pop.
“What did you just do, Effy?” Severus asked her.
“Effy is adding elf magic, Master. Now you two is bound and blessed by elf magic too. Even death cannot separate your joined souls.”
“Thank you Effy. I have not heard of this being done before. We are both grateful to you.”
Effy grinned shyly at his words and disappeared. She’d promised to go straight down to the kitchens after the ceremony and give the Shannon and all the Hogwarts elves a blow by blow account of what happened.
Sky and Severus retrieved their wands and Albus waved his own. The desk vanished and in its place was a table, filled with various snacks and drinks, as well as a small wedding cake with two figures on the top, standing in the doorway to a small replica of Hogwarts. The tiny man and woman were exact replicas of Severus and Sky. She was smiling and Severus was scowling.
Now that they were legally married, Albus went to the floo and called every member of staff who wished to come to his office and help them celebrate. Much to Severus’ chagrin.
It didn’t take long for them all to arrive. Severus stood stoically through more hugs, wishing that they would stop hugging him.
His wife, HIS wife had been pulled away by the female staff and was surrounded by them all cooing and exclaiming at her gown and her wedding ring, all wanting to know why they had not been informed of the upcoming handfasting.
It was a good while before he was able to reach her side and discovered she had a large glass of red wine in her hand. Her face was flushed and she was grinning lopsidedly at him while trying to focus on his face.
She was drunk.
“I think I should take you down to our quarters. How much of that have you had?”
“Hiccough. I don’t know. Three or hiccough four. It’s very hiccough nice juice. You should hiccough try some.”
“That is not juice it is wine, and you are inebriated.” He hissed.
“Am I? I don’t know what that means. Hiccough.”
Severus turned to the group of witches with a scowl on his face. “Who gave my wife wine?” He growled at them.
“Oh we all did.” Pomona Sprout piped up. “We thought it might help keep her calm when you explain exactly what you had her say when she read her vows to you.”
He glared at the witches but they just smirked and carried on with their previous conversation. Minerva knew Sky did not know what she promised when she made those vows to Severus. She also knew that he had written them. It was his handwriting after all.
Severus took hold of his new wife and took the glass from her, placing it on the table.
“Sev’us, I was drinkin’ that.”
“You have had enough. We are going to our rooms.”
“Why? I want some more.”
“You are my wife and you have promised to obey me. So come on. Now.” He led her to the nearest door. “Our bedroom.” He whispered to her. “Open the door.”
Sky opened it and he gently pushed her through and closed it behind him before he looked at where they were.
“Where are we?” He asked her. “This is not our bedroom.”
“I don’t, hiccough, know. It’s somewhere.”
He took his wand a said ‘Lumos’. They were in a small dining room.
“We are not even at Hogwarts Sky. Where have you brought us?”
“I don’t know. I’m tired.”
With a sigh, he led her back to the door. “This time try to at least get inside of the castle. Open the door.”
She pulled it open and Severus held her back and stuck his head through. He closed it again quickly. It was a strip club, and the strippers were male. He did not want her seeing that.
“Try again.” He said wearily. It looked as though it was going to be a long unfruitful night.
After about fifteen tries, during which Severus witnessed things that made him want to scrub his eyeballs clean and others that he found very erotic, sickening and amusing, Sky finally managed to get them into Hagrid’s hut.
Not willing to risk any more mistakes, Severus hauled a now almost passed out Sky through the door and tried to sneak past Hagrid’s large hound.
The dog lifted his head and sniffed the air before letting out a small growl and going back to sleep.
As soon as they stepped outside and the air hit her, Sky collapsed into a drunken heap on the ground.
Severus picked her up and carried her back to the castle, grumbling all the time about stupid women not minding their own business as he reached the door to his office and lowered the wards. He muttered the wards and carried her through the office and study then into the bedroom where he dumped her unceremoniously on the bed.
He accio’d a sober up potion from the bathroom and sat on the bed next to her. Her hair was fanned out on the pillow like a halo. Her long golden eyelashes resting on her cheeks, her rosy lips slightly parted. ‘She looks beautiful even when she is drunk.’ He thought.
Placing an arm behind her, he lifted her enough that he could pour some of the potion into her mouth. His mouth widened in a grin and he only gave her a few drops of the potion, placing the almost full bottle on the bedside cabinet.
“Renervate.”
Sky’s eyes fluttered open and she gave him that lopsided grin again.
“Lo. Are we back?” She was still drunk but not enough to pass out, just enough to be compliant for what Severus wanted to do.
“We are indeed back, and in the bedroom.” He purred. “It is also our wedding night. Do you know what that means Sky?”
“Nope. What?”
“It means you have to submit to my every whim.” He whispered in her ear.
She shivered at the feel of his breath on her skin. It felt nice. She had no idea what he was talking about.
“Mmm. Submit whim. Nice whim.”
