Hermione sat in the ROR shaking in exhaustion. Melody’s eyesight had been restored, well at least her magical eyesight. Her eyes were still completely white, the broken blood vessels having been repaired, but she assured them she could see shapes and shadows beyond the magical auras. She’d insisted that they immediately get started despite the protests of two livid healers and a potions master.
Molly had only stayed a few minutes, promising to return that night when Poppy would be reviving Ron if he hadn’t regained consciousness before then. As soon as she left, a very livid Harry Potter stormed over to Melody’s cot.
“They’re bonded!” He screamed.
“Why don’t you tell the whole castle, Potter?” Melody sneered. “I’d imagine that the Dark Lord would love to hear it.”
Harry paled. “Whose side is Malfoy on?”
“My side,” Melody snapped. “Now, I don’t wish to discuss this particular piece of news here in the infirmary. Meet us in the ROR after dinner and we can have a nice long chat about your revelation. Now, off with you. I imagine you and Ginny will need to check in with your teachers to explain why you were absent.”
Harry ran his hand through his messy hair in frustration. “I don’t want to wait that long!”
“Screaming at the top of your lungs in the infirmary isn’t going to change things Potter. What’s done is done. Perhaps you should think about this though. It was a life or death situation. Now I suggest you get out of this infirmary right this instant and report to your teacher before I hex you so hard you’ll need a crowbar to pry your head out of your ass!”
Harry screamed in frustration but realized that it wouldn’t do any good to argue. “I didn’t mean to skip all my classes,” he huffed. “What am I going to tell them?”
“The truth. You got stuck in the hospital ward during my healing and had to wait until they were done. I’ll make sure you’re excused. Now, both of you, out and keep you thoughts to yourself until tonight!” She snapped and held her wand at the ready.
Ginny and Harry had hightailed it out the door, not wanting to provoke Melody any further. She was a bit more volatile than even Snape and wouldn’t hesitate to hex them flat on their backs. As soon as they left, she immediately started attacking Draco’s mind. She got through only twice before he blocked her completely. As discussed, Hermione moved further and further away until she had gone to the edge of the forbidden forest. Pleased with their work, Melody had told her to report to the ROR to see if that made a difference.
It was decidedly harder to connect with Draco in there. She wasn’t sure if it was the distance or the magical properties of the room but it drained her more. She felt the push again and she held still with all her might, mimicking a wall and making sure she wasn’t noticeable in Draco’s mind. After each time Melody left, she encouraged them to talk with each other, make sure they hadn’t disconnected completely. It was a failsafe just in case something went dreadfully wrong.
The door to the ROR opened and she jumped up and spun around, throwing a hex at the door. It was blocked easily by Professor Snape. He merely quirked an eyebrow and walked in, shutting the door. “How are the lessons going?”
“She hasn’t gotten in since the first two times,” she panted and went still, feeling another try.
“Can you still function normally when she’s trying or do you need complete concentration?”
“I can converse minimally,” she whispered and concentrated on the wall. When it was over, she looked over to her professor who was rubbing his lips in contemplation.
“We’ll have to work on that after this weekend. You never know when the Dark Lord will be trying to break into Draco’s mind.”
“If we get through this weekend,” she muttered.
“We will,” he said confidently. “Everyone will be in here after dinner but you and Draco can’t be seen in the Great Hall. Especially since Potter’s been muttering darkly to himself all afternoon. I imagine he’d say something supremely idiotic and attract attention. Come down to my office and we’ll eat dinner there.”
“What about the lessons?”
“You can’t block her from the hallway or my office?”
“Well, yes but moving is rather difficult.”
“Then consider it furthering your training.” He motioned her out the door and she reluctantly followed. The walk to his office was harder than she thought it’d be. It was taking all of her concentration to keep Melody out. She was really trying hard to get in now, practically shoving with all her might against the walls she and Draco were erecting. During particularly hard pushes, she’d stumble or trip.
To his credit, Snape never did more than patiently help her up from the floor or steady her. He knew how difficult this was for the pair. This was practically uncharted territory in magical terms. The only clues they had to know that it could be done were the faded journals of Merlin. He would never say so plainly, but he was thoroughly impressed with them.
He smirked when he thought about another person who was impressed, Harry Potter. The boy had gaped like a fish when his friend and his enemy started glowing. He had to admit that they made quite the intimidating picture, all that magical energy radiating from them and lifting them off the ground. That was no surprise to him though; he’d seen it in his office months ago when their bindings were first lifted.
Now, however, they had almost complete control and it was both awe inspiring and disturbing. It drove home just how powerful they were and he was grateful that he’d managed to convince his blood son to turn a new leaf. The boy had embraced his role fully and gone above and beyond his expectations. He adored his wife, learned all he could, and exemplified complete control at all times. He would be able to make something of himself all on his own after the war.
Celeste was waiting for them when they entered the office. She was sipping tea and reading a potions tome. “How’s it going?”
Hermione plopped down in the chair across from her. “Fine but I’m so tired.”
“Melody will quit soon. She just wants to make sure.”
“I know,” Hermione said and then smiled. She could hear Melody complimenting Draco on a job well done. “He’s coming down.”
“Perfect,” Celeste said softly. “It’s almost dinner time, isn’t it?”
“It is,” Snape drawled. “Dobby!”
Dobby popped in with a loud ‘CRACK’. “How can Dobby bes of service sir?”
“Dinner for seven,” he ordered and Dobby cracked out with a bow.
“Seven?” Hermione asked in shock.
“Us, Draco, Melody, Harmony, and Philippe. Alex doesn’t need any sustenance,” Snape said offhand.
“I thought Harmony and Philippe had gone back to America,” Hermione said quietly.
“They did for a while but they agreed to have dinner with us and then afterwards, we’re going to the ROR to sort Potter out,” Severus explained.
“And if we know Melody,” Celeste chimed in. “They’ll be a party to follow. She’s told me several times that she wants to go out with a bang.”
Hermione fell silent, remembering their trip to Fangs and Thangs. “It was a great evening before the end.”
Celeste and Severus exchanged knowing looks before he sat down on the chair beside her. She immediately put her book down and sat in his lap. Hermione raised an eyebrow at the action which caused Celeste to laugh. She dismissed it and closed her eyes, relishing in the complete stillness that was her mind. Wait, stillness?
“He cut me off!” Hermione said in outrage.
“What?” Celeste looked at her in confusion.
“I can’t hear his thoughts. I mean, I can still feel him. He’s coming down here but I can’t hear his thoughts.”
“Does he hear all of yours?” Snape drawled.
“Well, no. I shield a great deal of them from him,” she said sheepishly.
“Then you shouldn’t begrudge him when he does the same,” he chided. “He’s probably having a conversation he doesn’t want you to overhear.”
“Your right. It’s just…disorienting. I’m so used to his thoughts now.”
“Well, instead of listening to his thoughts, why don’t you put your mind to work on something else? What are you going to say to Potter?” Severus drawled.
“Oh bloody hell! I don’t suppose we can obliviate him?”
Snape grinned nastily. “Oh we can and it will make the next time he has this same revelation twice as amusing but I think it better he know, especially since he’s managed to figure it out all on his own.”
“He’s going to be furious,” Hermione moaned.
“He’s already furious. The younger years have taken to giving him a wide birth after he accidentally hexed one of them.” Snape chuckled.
“Harry hexed a student?”
“Well, more like an accidental hex. They bumped into him while he was thinking of a particularly creative hex for Draco and he gave off a spark of magic. Poppy fixed the poor girl in less than a minute but word travels fast.”
“Great,” she groaned just as Draco walked in with Melody.
“We’ll get through to him,” Melody reassured her as she plopped down on the sofa.
Dinner was consumed quietly, no one wanting to disturb the uneasy peace in the room. Finally, Melody had enough. “Alright, you all know I want to go out with a bang. Therefore, I sent Harmony on a little reconnaissance this afternoon. If the ladies will follow me to the bathroom, we’ll get ready there. Men, stay out if you want your bits to work later.”
When the girls left, Alex started chuckling. “I hope you brought enough pairs of leather pants for everyone, Phil.”
Philippe smirked. “If I’d only known that was what got her going…”
“Yes, yes, you’d never wear anything else,” Alex downplayed. “They’ll be a while, anyone care for a game of chess?”
Hermione followed the woman into the bathroom and was thankful that it was big enough to hold them. Harmony took a bag out of her pocket and enlarged it. Melody clapped her hands and grabbed it, hanging it up on a conjured hook on the wall.
“Hermione, shut Draco out now,” she ordered and continued when she received a nod. “Now Harm, did you get one for everyone? Even Ginny?”
“Yes, there’s one for all of us. I can’t believe which ones you had me pick out,” Harmony tsked.
“Oh, you’ve become such a killjoy in your old age.” Melody dismissed her with a wave.
“I’m not a killjoy. I just prefer to keep my clothes on for more than ten minutes,” Harmony huffed.
Celeste let out an amused chuckle. “I take it my brother is more interested in the package than the wrapping?”
“You could say that. It’s a wonder he even leaves to go to work in the morning,” Harmony said in exasperation.
“Well, he loves you. Can’t fault him for that,” Melody said, flipping through the dresses after fingering them a bit and handing them out. She gave a tight black leather cocktail dress to Harmony. It didn’t have any sleeves, was cinched at the waist, and barely covered her bum. Celeste was gifted with a Slytherin green silk dress. It had long sleeves but hung off the shoulders. The neckline formed a deep V almost to her belly button. It hugged her curves, ending in a very tight skirt that came to mid-thigh.
“Now, which one for you sweetheart?” Melody asked. She held up three different dresses that left little to the imagination.
Hermione blushed deeply. “None of them.”
“Oh nonsense, here,” Melody said as she shoved a rather tiny dress her way. It was a brilliant cobalt blue halter top that cut down all the way to her arse in the back with a flared skirt that threatened to show off her knickers if she spun too fast. Melody crossed her arms and dared her to say another word about it. Reluctantly, she stripped down and put the dress on.
When she was finished, she looked up to see Melody in a rather revealing blood red vinyl ensemble. It was similar to the black one she’d worn at the club but the top had straps and the skirt came down a bit further. “We’ll leave this one for Ginny. If Harry hasn’t made a move before now, he will tonight.” She gave a feral grin.
Hermione didn’t doubt that. The dress was deep gold with a sweetheart neckline and looked to be made out of rubber bands. She could imagine that it would leave absolutely nothing to the imagination. “Um, why are we doing this?”
“To go out with a bang,” Melody answered like it was the most obvious thing in the world. She looked at Hermione’s face or her aura rather and laughed. “Look sweetheart, Harmony can’t see past tomorrow for us right now because there is a million ways for this to go. How would you like to spend your last night? Do you want to go dancing with a group of your friends, get drunk, and spend most of the night screwing your husband or do you want to want to sit in a classroom and rehash every last detail of your life?”
Hermione nodded her head. She could see Melody’s point. It would be much better if she spent her last night with her loved ones. “So Harry and Ginny will be there too?”
“Of course. I imagine Harry will know as much as he ever will after we have our little chat. They can stay and party with us. Merlin knows that no one has allowed that boy to have a little fun in his life. He needs to get in all the fun he can, even if he doesn’t know why.” Melody’s voice wavered a bit. She’d come to like the outspoken brunette with the messy hair even though he drove her up the wall half the time.
“Besides, I imagine a drunk Harry Potter is much easier to reason with than a sober one. If not, we can always spin him in circles until he gets too dizzy to aim his wand properly.”
Hermione nodded and viciously wiped a tear out of her eyes. “Let’s do this then,” she proclaimed, straightening her back.
“First things first, take off the makeup and the glamours,” Melody said. “We’ll be cloaked on the walk so no one will be the wiser. Your tattoos are beautiful. Show them off.”
Hermione’s hand shook as she took the sticking charm off the muggle makeup on her face. She looked in the mirror and scourgified it all off, smiling when the golden bird started preening. She ran her hands over her hair and the semi-permanent glamour fell away, revealing the tiny streak of blond and black.
Melody nodded in approval. “See, that little bird’s been dying to show off.” She ran her hands through the unruly chestnut mane and it became sleek and shiny, falling in large ringlets. Then she smirked and took out a black bag, dumping its contents over her hair.
Hermione could only laugh as she watched the crystals from her wedding fall out and attach themselves to her hair. “It’s perfect.”
“I’m glad you like it. Now we just have to keep your young dragon from jumping you the second you walk out.” Melody snickered.
Hermione hung back and watched the looks on the faces of each woman’s partner as they entered one by one. Philippe immediately descended on Harmony and refused to keep his hands off her. Alex was a bit more restrained but his fangs were extended and his eyes were practically glowing. Snape merely raised an eyebrow and Celeste hurried over to him. He gave her a heated once over and then gently tapped her collar with his finger. It changed into a pretty green choker with a tiny blue crystal. She blushed prettily and looked down.
Hermione smiled gently seeing her professor and Celeste together. She could tell that they had real chemistry. She only hoped that they’d remain together. Severus gave Celeste a soft smile and then rearranged his face into the cold mask of indifference he’d worn since before Hermione was born. If Celeste could crack him that much, she could only imagine how good they were for each other.
Suddenly, she realized that all eyes were on her and Draco. Her husband had initially had his back turned when she’d entered but now he was staring at her. His eyes were glowing silver, his lips parted in surprise. She could practically feel the heat coming off his body and was hard pressed not to run to him. Instead, she walked over slowly, insecure with how much her dress was showing.
He reached up and gently caressed the little golden bird on her face, a smile forming on his face as it fluttered and nudged his hand. He nodded and took his own makeup and glamours off. It was her turn to caress the beautiful silver bird on his face. The brown and black streaks in his hair made her smile. This was who they were, no more hiding.
“Well that was anti-climactic,” Melody tsked.
“Oh come now. Give the boy some credit,” Snape snapped. “He is my blood son after all. He has impeccable self-control.”
“Oh, he’s got some self-control alright…for now.” Melody chuckled a bit and pointedly glanced at Draco’s leather trousers.
Hermione blushed when she realized what Melody was referring to. To make things worse, Draco merely smirked and held her closer to him. She could feel his hardening length against her stomach and her heart skipped a beat.
“Well ladies, since you are so fashionable,” Alex drawled and waved his hand. Each man was now wearing a silk shirt that matched their date in addition to their leather pants and dragon hide boots. “Now, that’s better. Ready?”
They made their way to the ROR quickly, trying to attract as little attention as possible. It was a good thing it was dinner time because eight people walking about in floor length hooded black cloaks was pretty suspicious. They finally reached the room and Melody started pacing. The door that appeared looked eerily similar to the one at Fangs and Thangs, the vampire club they’d went to in America.
Walking in confirmed their suspicions. It was an exact replica of the club, including the patrons and the bar tender. Melody whistled. “Well, the room has outdone itself. These people are just simulations. You can’t actually bump into them and we’ll have to make our own drinks but I think it’s a good substitute in a pinch.”
“Except for the fact that it’s eerily quiet,” Harmony said, looking around.
“Well, I’ll take care of that when the time comes,” Melody said. “After all, I don’t want to have to shout at Potter.”
How long do you think before he comes in?” Hermione asked in a tiny voice. Draco put his arms around her in a show of support.
“I’d say as soon as he’s shoveled enough food in his mouth to make up for missing lunch. So, in the next few minutes.” Melody laughed. “Trust me Hermione. I made him wait so we didn’t have to sit here through his righteous anger phase.”
They sat down at a large table in the back, looking at all the images of patrons while they waited. Draco leaned down and whispered in Hermione’s ear. “You look absolutely amazing.” She blushed and shook her head. “No, I mean it. You’re bloody gorgeous and I’d shag you right now if Potter wasn’t coming soon.”
Hermione pushed at his shoulder. “Oh stop it. You wouldn’t.”
“I would and I doubt anyone here would stop me,” he said as he looked up and smirked.
“He’s right, we wouldn’t,” Melody giggled.
Hermione buried her head in Draco’s chest, realizing that her cheek hit bare skin. She pulled back to realize that his cloak was open and shirt was only half buttoned. The blue made his silver eyes sparkle. “Merlin you look hot,” she breathed and then put her hands over her face in mortification.
“Glad you think so,” Draco said chuckling. He took her hands down and crushed his lips over hers. She got lost in the kiss until a loud angry knock sounded out.
“Showtime kiddies,” Melody said, calling for the knocker to enter.
Harry marched in dragging an exasperated Ginny behind him. “That’s enough Harry!” She yelled and yanked his hand away from her.
“They’re bonded!” He yelled, not even realizing he was walking through ghostly images of dancing couples.
“Thank you captain obvious,” Melody said, making sure the door sealed behind them. When she was satisfied, she motioned for them to sit down. Ginny did immediately, sighing in irritation. Harry remained standing “Now, are you ready to listen or would you like to continue to throw a temper tantrum like a two year old?”
“Why?” He growled.
“Well, obviously listening would merit you more answers than throwing a hissy fit,” Melody said smartly.
“No,” Harry growled in frustration. “Why are they bonded?”
“To keep from dying!” Melody screeched. “Merlin boy, how fucking thick are you? I told you it was a life or death situation. Did you actually READ the damned book?”
“It said they needed to be bonded,” he said slowly.
Melody rubbed her newly healed eyes in annoyance. “It said that they could be bound with the opposite magic until they hit majority. After that, they need their magical match.”
“But WHY?” Harry yelled and pulled a chair up from another table, plopping himself down.
“Good fucking grief you stupid boy,” Melody growled. “We’ve gone over this. A core can’t survive without balance and they don’t have it. AT. ALL. Therefore, they need to be bound as tightly to each other as possible so they can share.”
“Why couldn’t they just do what you and Harmony did?” Harry asked.
“Finally, a sensible question,” Melody sighed. “Because Potter, screwing with magical cores is an extremely risky and dangerous move. It was entirely possible that they could have died or at least lost their magic like Harmony and I did. Bonding them was the safest and most foolproof way to ensure their survival and that they retained their magic. Would you really want Hermione to die or at the very least, become completely muggle?”
“No,” Harry said, his voice wavering.
“Good. I’m glad you see it my way. Therefore, she and Draco are bound together forever. Forever Potter. It goes beyond that too. If one dies, the other does as well, not just from a core breakdown but from lack of a bonding partner. Besides, they never had a chance really. They were partially bound by accident in that altercation in the bathroom; their blood mixed. They just completed it.”
“You!” Harry screamed and stood up, pulling out his wand. “You attacked her in that bathroom you bastard!”
He threw a blasting hex and Draco barely blocked it. Unfortunately, Harry threw several hexes in quick succession. A particularly strong stinging hex was at the end of the barrage and Draco was too slow to block it. Hermione yelped in pain and Harry lowered his wand in shock. He never saw the binding hex coming his way. He was tied to his chair in an instant.
“Potter you stupid sodding wanker!” Draco screamed as he looked back to check on Hermione. “You alright love?”
“Yes of course. I just wasn’t expecting it, that’s all. I’m fine, promise,” she said softly.
“Well done Potter. You’ve managed to hurt your best friend in your unbelievable idiocy,” Melody drawled.
“I hit Malfoy, not Mione,” Harry said in a small voice.
“It doesn’t matter which one you hit you fucking moron,” Melody growled. “Now why don’t you sit there for a second and listen to the rest of the fucking story before you go off halfcocked for once. They were partially bound in the bathroom all those months ago. That’s WHY they were unconscious so long. Since then, they’ve been able to feel each other’s pain, experience each other’s emotions, and would pass out from merely trying to go against the bond. Marriage was simply the next step.”
“Marriage?” Harry squeaked.
Melody smacked herself in the face. “Good Lord boy, what do you think a bonding ceremony does? They’re married you blithering dunderhead!” Snape burst out laughing, startling nearly everyone. Melody cracked a smile and shook her head. “Yes Sev, you’ve rubbed off on me. Happy?”
“Immensely,” he said, his expression now neutral but laughter still twinkled in his eyes.
It took Harry a moment to recover from seeing his normally dour teacher break character so badly. “Malfoy is a death eater!” He spat and fought against the ropes, freeing his hand and making a grab for Draco’s arm.
Draco stopped him by grabbing his wrist and throwing it away. “I am a spy Potter.” He rolled up his sleeve to bare the dark mark and the tiny silver rune over his left wrist.
Harry’s eyes went wide at the sight and then zeroed in on the rune. “What’s that?”
“It’s a symbol of the marriage bond,” Hermione said, pulling the sleeve up on the cloak she was still wearing and showed him her matching golden rune. “It was an ancient ceremony. It’s the strongest bond possible and ancient enough that we didn’t have to alert the ministry.”
“Why?” Harry asked in a strained voice as he traced the rune on her wrist.
“It was necessary. The closer we’re bound together, the more powerful we are. We can use the bond more effectively, control the magic better. Harry, we could shield the entire castle if we needed to. Don’t you understand?” Hermione pleaded.
“He hates you, everything you are and everything you stand for,” Harry spat.
“Shut your fucking mouth Potter. You have no idea how I feel about her or anything else,” Draco hissed.
“Yeah right Malfoy. It’s all just another act. You’ll drag her to Voldemort the first chance you get.”
“Fuck you Potter!” Draco yelled as he got up. “I couldn’t hide my true feelings from her even if I wanted to. She can feel my emotions remember? As for the Dark Lord, I’ll bow and scrape and lick his fucking boots to get what information I can but there is no way in hell I’m giving her up to him. I want this war to end just as bad as you do Potter.”
“You want Purebloods to rule,” Harry yelled.
Draco burst out laughing, startling everyone in the room. “Maybe you should get your ears checked Potter. My blood has mixed with Hermione’s. It is technically no longer pure and I prefer it that way,” he said with a deadly chill in his voice. “All being a pureblood means to me anymore is that I have a pedigree, just like a bloody dog. I want freedom Potter, the freedom to openly be with my wife without fear of someone trying to kill us. I want to walk the streets without worrying if my mother will be safe from a murdering despot.”
“You want me to believe that you are on our side and that you love Mione?” Harry spat, struggling against his ropes.
“I honestly don’t give a fuck what you believe Potter,” Draco said softly as he walked behind Hermione, caressing her hair affectionately. “I just want you to keep your fucking mouth shut about us and do your part when it comes time to kill the Dark Lord.”
“Just so we’re clear then,” Harry said softly, finally ceasing to struggle. “You want him dead?”
“I didn’t think that needed clarification,” Draco snorted.
“Why don’t you kill him then?” Harry asked quietly. “I’ve seen you both together. You could snap your fingers and destroy him.”
“He’d come back,” Draco whispered. “If I knew it would be the absolute end of him, I would snuff him out in a heartbeat.”
“How can he come back?” Harry asked.
“Horcruxes,” Harmony interrupted.
“Dumbledore said something about those too. What are they?”
“Pieces of Voldemort’s soul bound to inanimate objects,” Harmony explained. “You’ve battled them before. The diary, the very one that changed Ginny’s magic, it was a horcrux. The ring that cursed Dumbledore’s hand was one. There was another Melody found yesterday and Draco destroyed it. If you had any question as to his loyalty before, I believe that should prove it.”
Harry turned around and looked at Draco with wide eyes. “You destroyed it?” Draco nodded. “How?”
“Fiendfyre,” Draco said with a shrug. “Melted it right out but I’ve never seen anything like it Potter.”
“Are there more?” Harry asked Harmony.
“Yes. How many more, we don’t know. Dumbledore believes that Slughorn does. As soon as you retrieve that memory, we’ll know and we can work on finding the others.”
“It would take a miracle to get that memory from him,” Harry groaned.
“Then you’d better start working miracles Potter, or this war will continue far longer than it needs to,” Draco growled and stalked across the room to calm down. He was afraid that his magic would take him over and he’d hurt someone.
Harry sat there contemplating everything for a few minutes. Something registered and he looked at Ginny with accusing eyes. “You knew about this.”
Ginny nodded sadly. Harry’s face grew black and Melody stepped in before he could go off. “Oh come off it Potter, she was sworn to secrecy. She couldn’t have told you on pain of death at wand point. She was needed to participate in the ceremony because her powers match that of any adult.”
Harry gave her a searching look.
Ginny ducked her head and whispered. “I stepped in for her mother.”
“What? Why?”
Melody smacked her head on the table in outrage. “Use that thick skull of yours Potter. Hermione’s parents are muggles. MUGGLES, as in no power and no sway to perform such a hugely magical bonding.”
“So Ginny was able to be her mother?” Harry asked in confusion.
“Yes Harry,” Hermione sighed. “Ginny and Remus stepped in for my parents. My mum and dad each put a drop of their blood on their wands to signify their acceptance.”
“Remus knew about this too?” He asked angrily.
Melody sighed. “Sworn to secrecy Potter. You have a very large short term memory problem.”
“You’re parents know about this?” Harry asked.
Hermione’s breath hitched. “They did.”
“Did? What do you mean did?”
“Merlin’s harry bollocks,” Draco growled and stormed across the room. He sat down in his chair and pulled Hermione over to sit on his lap, cradling her now shaking form. “Her parents are targets Potter. They’ve had their memories removed to protect both them and us and they’ve been relocated somewhere safe.”
“All of their memories?” Harry asked in astonishment.
“Yes all of them,” Draco said softly. “They don’t know they’ve even had a child or who they truly are for that matter.”
“Oh no, Mione. I didn’t know,” Harry said, his eyes shifting back and forth trying to understand. Hermione had given up her parents to protect them.
“Of course you didn’t you idiot,” Draco spat. “No one is supposed to know. That’s the whole purpose.”
Harry shook his head in both disbelief and sadness. Something occurred to him then. “Wait, if her parents had to give their approval, what about yours?”
“I had my mother’s approval Potter. Believe it or not, she doesn’t subscribe to the Dark Lord’s propaganda any more than I do.”
Harry snorted. “So you only need one?”
“No, you need them both,” Melody said, glad that Harry was finally able to think rationally. “However, despite the fact that Lucius is safely in Azkaban until the time the Dark Lord decides to have mercy on him, he wouldn’t give his blessing if you set him on fire. No, they needed something different.”
“So what is that?” Harry growled, frustrated at learning so much so quickly.
“Did you notice their hair?”
Harry cocked his head and finally looked his friend and her husband over. Their hair had a streak in it. Hermione’s had Malfoy’s blond color but there was a black strand in it as well. Malfoy’s had the opposite, Hermione’s chestnut with a black streak. He remembered that day that Snape had come to fetch Minoe when she’d been so sick. He’d had a white streak in it, white like Malfoy’s. He looked at his professor and noticed that his hair was still as jet black and greasy as it ever was.
“There was a streak in his hair. It’s not there now though.”
“Sev, take it off,” Melody said softly.
“No.”
“You’ll take it off or I’ll hex your bollocks,” Melody snapped. He glared at her. “Sev, he needs to see.”
Sighing heavily, he flicked his fingers over his hair. There it was, the white streak that had been there that night but something else disturbed Harry more. “You have Hermione’s hair color too.”
“That’s right Potter,” Melody said cheerfully. “Sev did a blood binding with Draco and his mother. It’s a sort of adoption type thing, only it goes blood deep. Lucius has no sway over Draco’s future whatsoever now. He’s unable to even draft a marriage contract but Draco still maintains his right to the family fortune. It’s the best of both worlds. Severus is officially his father in a decision making capacity, including marriage to Hermione.”
“So he stepped in as Malfoy’s father for the binding. That still doesn’t explain the brown hair.”
“Keep your shirt on,” Melody chided. “After the blood bond with Sev was set, Draco was bound in matrimony to Hermione. They exchanged blood as is the traditional custom. Therefore, the blood bond with Sev carried over into that one. He’s the official patriarch for them both. He’s also got a strand of her hair to signify it and vice versa.”
“And Malfoy’s mother and Snape served as his parents.” Melody nodded. “His mother isn’t going to tell Voldemort?”
Draco growled low in his throat. “She would never do that Potter. However, the Dark Lord is much better than her at invading the mind. She opted to be obliviated after having her memories removed to a safe location. They’ll be returned to her after the war.”
“So she doesn’t remember that she had Snape adopt you?” Harry asked in confusion.
“She does remember that part. However, even if the Dark Lord were to see it, he’d read it as her trying to better our standing. My father was cast out of the inner circle and Severus remains his right hand man along with Aunt Bellatrix. Still, that particular ceremony comes with added protection. It should stay hidden unless someone happens to see the strands of hair.”
“So you all have to keep that hidden all the time?” Harry asked softly.
“For now,” Melody said. “The strands should only be able to be seen by those who know they are there. For example, look at Hermione’s left hand now and tell me what you see.”
“Nothing,” Harry said, frowning.
“Good. Now, I’ll tell you she’s wearing Draco’s ring as well as a wedding band.”
Harry gasped as the engagement ring and the wedding band appeared on her finger. “That wasn’t there just a second ago.”
“It was actually,” Melody corrected. “It’s a specialized glamour. Only those who know it’s there can see it. Even when you knew they were married, you couldn’t see it. It was only when I told you it was there that you could. The hair should work the same way.”
“So how can I see it?” Harry asked.
“A delay in the bonding. Sev’s bond with Draco was barely set before they were married, a necessity unfortunately because they wouldn’t have lasted through the night if they hadn’t been. Therefore, the cementing of the bond is a bit slow.” Melody stared at Severus when she said this.
“When will it set?” Snape asked softly.
“Well, Draco and Hermione still have one more trait to gain from you, and vice versa.” Melody smirked.
“What trait will I be getting from those two?” Snape grimaced.
“Well, you got their youthful exuberance.” She giggled and he was hard pressed not to roll his eyes. “You’re last trait will be the ability to heal without taking the normal measures. It’s a rather useful attribute, if I do say so myself.”
“That’s wonderful,” Hermione said softly. “Will he be able to avoid it all together?”
“I’m afraid not. Blood loss, extreme torture, fatal blows, those sorts of things will still need the same cure. However, he’ll get over colds, broken bones, and things like that in a much quicker fashion than before.”
“That must be nice,” Celeste said wistfully.
“You’ll get it too sweetheart, if this lug head ever decides to marry you that is,” Melody said, pointing to Sev. His eyes narrowed dangerously and she laughed. “You’re aura’s pulsing dear. Now, Draco and Hermione will get a portion of your strength, also a very useful trait.”
“What are you talking about?” Harry growled.
“The blood bond allows the bondees to share traits. The hair for instance, symbolizes the sharing of traits. They also get physical traits. Hermione and Draco heal quicker than Severus. He, on the other hand, is much strong than them. The bond allows them to share these characteristics.”
“That’s mad!” Harry growled and started glowing in anger.
“You’re magic’s flaring. Might want to tamp that down because Remus has just arrived.”
“Remus?” Harry asked in confusion, his magic flickering out at the sudden turn in conversation.
“Oh yes, almost forgot about that part,” Melody said as she frowned. “If I let you up, are you going to behave yourself or are you going to try to attack Draco again?”
“I won’t attack him again,” Harry huffed, She released him with a nod and got up to open the door.
“What part did she almost forget about?” Harry asked the table in bewilderment as he rubbed his chest where the ropes had dug in particularly hard.
“The Dark Lord had requested my presence tomorrow,” Snape drawled. “He’d like me to bring Draco and Melody with me.”
Harry narrowed his eyes at Draco. “So you can lick his boots?”
“Actually, more like so he can torture me to within an inch of my life…again,” Draco snorted.
“Why do you need Remus for that then?” Harry asked.
“Potter, you have an astounding lack of reasoning skills,” Snape scowled. “If Draco is hurt, Hermione will feel his pain, all of it. They are also unable to be separated over that far a distance; the bond isn’t strong enough yet. Therefore, Lupin has agreed to keep everyone away from her at the safe house. Alex will go with her to help as best he can.”
Harry paled. “What’s going to happen to her?”
“We don’t know Potter,” Draco growled. “That’s the whole point. Your safe house is close enough to the Dark Lord that we won’t tear the bond. Alex will be there in case her magic flares, and he will keep her there in case she gets some silly notion to go after me.”
“Like she’d do that,” Harry snorted.
“You don’t get it, do you Potter? It’s a natural response; we can’t help it. Remember that day I hexed Cornfoot?” Harry nodded. “I was there to help Hermione. I felt her distress and I almost gave myself away trying to protect her. I didn’t even think twice. Merlin, I wish I’d killed the bastard.”
“So you’re saying she’ll be compelled to go after you?” Harry asked in disbelief.
“Potter,” Alex interrupted. “That day that Draco flew through the door, the first day you brought Mr. Weasley, Melody and Draco were sparring. She landed a very hard kick and Hermione, after feeling the blow, responded magically to try and protect him. It was an accidental and unfocused burst of magic. We threw the shields to keep them from destroying the school.”
“So when they touched hands…” Harry said slowly.
“The backlog of magic escaped,” Alex explained. “That is why tomorrow is so dangerous. Voldemort can’t find out about Draco and Hermione or about Melody’s gift. He’s already suspicious of her, believes her to be one of the twins from the story. Remember her gift? Could you imagine it in the hands of a madman? She’d probably die if it were to come to that but still. Can you not see how dangerous tomorrow will be?”
Harry shook his head. “How are they going to keep him from finding out if their magic is going to flare like that?”
“That is why they’ve been training so intensely Potter,” Alex answered. “The passing out in exhaustion, the intense legilimency training, working morning, noon, and night on concentration and control, it’s all been to prepare for this moment. We thought we’d have until Easter to get them ready.”
“So if Voldemort tortures Draco, Hermione’s going to feel it?” Harry said slowly. They all nodded. “What happens if he dies?”
“She’ll die within the month,” Snape said softly.
Harry stood up and shook his head fiercely. “No! She can’t die! You can’t go!”
“I have no choice Potter,” Draco said softly. “He still has my mother. If your mother were still alive, wouldn’t you try everything you could to save her?”
Harry sat back down heavily; all the air rushed out of him. “So you’ll risk Hermione’s life; make her experience the pain at the very least?”
“Trust me Potter. I don’t want her to have to go through this but I have to try. If I can get into the Dark Lord’s good graces, then I’ll be privy to information, important information that will save many lives, including my mother’s.”
“She’ll be suffering,” Harry said softly.
“There’s a temporary way to block it,” Draco said softly. “But we haven’t had time to work on it and trying it without practice would prove deadly. If this works tonight, we will perfect it and I’ll be able to spare her the pain. For right now though, we have to make do with what we have.” He clutched Hermione tighter to him, hating that he was asking her to do this for him.
‘You’d do the same for me, wouldn’t you?’ She thought.
‘In a heartbeat,’ he answered. There was no question.
‘Then let me do this for you. I can handle it.’
“Gods I love you,” he whispered aloud, shocking Harry. Ginny smiled softly and noticed that everyone else at the table was nodding.
“Here’s the best part Potter,” Harmony spoke, breaking Harry out of his thoughts. “You get to openly hate Draco in public. I’m sure he doesn’t give a damn if you hate him in private either but it is imperative that no one notice any difference. Just…don’t hex him or hit him because you’ll only be punishing Hermione if you do.”
Harry nodded jerkily and stood up, walking over to the other side of the room. He had a lot of things to think over and he’d like to do it away from everyone else.
Remus, having watched from the door, came to join everyone at the table. “I take it Harry knows now?”
Hermione lifted her head off of Draco’s shoulder and gave him a pitiful nod. “He’s not happy.”
“Well, give him time to sort it all out. I imagine it’s quite a shock.” Remus said comfortingly. “Now, I’ve cleared most of the house tomorrow. Molly will still be dropping by around noon. She insists that I can’t feed myself.” He huffed in exasperation. “Anyway, I’ve cleared out one of the bedrooms for your use. It’s right next door to the loo, should you need it. I suggest a few silencing charms so as to not wake that horrid portrait or alert anyone who drops by unannounced. Will you be flooing in or apparating?”
“Flooing,” Melody said softly. “If they don’t leave at exactly the same time, it could tear at the bond and Draco wouldn’t be in any shape to see the Dark Lord. Therefore, we all floo to the house and then apparate from outside it. That way, they’ll have as little separation as possible.”
“It’s a sound plan,” Severus said. “We’ll use my floo in the morning then.”
“Very well,” Remus said. “I’ll expect you by half past nine. That should give you plenty of time to prepare. Remember, you’ll need to scourgify your scents and magical signatures off of each other as well as wear some sort of strong cologne to mask the blood bond smell.”
“In that case, better make it half past eight Remus,” Melody said softly. “If they need to be magically scourgified, we’ll need to cover all of Draco’s tattoos after that. Severus and I will do it. Our scents won’t be out of place, do you think?”
“No, he won’t be able to tell because you’ll all be arriving together. Albus tells me that you met Fenrir last night.”
“Yes, he was most unpleasant. I should have killed him but I couldn’t risk exposure.” Melody grimaced.
Remus nodded gravely. “Without him, the werewolves would be much easier to sway.”
“Well, I’ll see what I can do then. I’d like to get even with him,” she hissed.
Remus gave her a wan smile. “I think we all would. Now, must be off. See you in the morning.”
“Night Remus. Oh, don’t forget to run headlong out the door. I think Tonks has been in suspense long enough.” Melody snickered.
“What?” He asked, his voice wavered a bit.
Melody smiled softly. “If a vampire who is a ’monster’ all the time can find love, then why can’t a werewolf who’s only a ‘monster’ every 29th day do the same?” Remus opened and closed his mouth a few times in shock. “Life is too short to live without someone to share it with, don’t you think?”
Remus stood there for a minute and then nodded his head. His mouth turned up in a soft smile. “I think you’re right.” He nodded and walked out of the room.
“Are you sure you didn’t turn into a vampire?” Draco asked when Remus left the room. “Your powers of persuasion are amazing. I think you could convince the Dark Lord to wear a tutu and dance the ballet if you put your mind to it.”
Melody chuckled. “Well, I wouldn’t go that far. I can just see things others can’t. Harmony is actually better at it than me; she just uses her powers for evil instead.”
Harmony snorted. “I need a drink after that whale of a comment.”
“Coming right up,” Alex chirped. “How about you dress Ginny for the occasion and we’ll get this party started.”
“Sure thing Vampy,” Melody said affectionately as she jerked Ginny out of the chair and dragged her to the bathroom.
“What are we doing?” She squeaked as she was unceremoniously thrown into the restroom.
“Going out with a bang,” Melody said. “If we don’t survive tomorrow, I want to say I had one more bit of fun before I die.”
“Potter’s going to have a meltdown,” Draco snickered.
“Let’s hope he loosens up a little then,” Harmony growled. “She promised me music.”
“Good grief harpy, let her dress my child first,” Severus said and then his eyes widened when he realized what he’d called Ginny.
Alex chuckled and called out from the bar. “Hard habit to kick isn’t it?”
Snape growled. “Yes.”
“You’ll be interested to know another little fact,” Alex drawled as he whooshed over with a half dozen drinks in tow. He leaned down to whisper. “You and Celeste can both bite Melody.”
“What?” Snape snapped.
“The particular bonding we chose won’t allow any other person or vampire or half breed or anything else to bond with her. Therefore, your fangs are safe.”
“And why would we be biting her?” Severus drawled.
Alex frowned. “Because she wants it.”
“What?” He and Celeste both barked.
“She won’t say it or even admit to it, but she wants one last hurrah. A memory of good times, if you will.”
“And you know this because…” Snape drawled.
“I read her mind when she was sleeping in the hospital wing. Her mind is completely focused on going to see the Dark Lord tomorrow. Subconsciously, she believes that if she had a memory of you in a gentler capacity, it would help her separate the two sides of your persona.”
“And you’d just sit by and watch?” He asked snidely.
“I’d join in,” he said as he whooshed back over to the other side of the room to mix more drinks.
“Aaand with that, I believe we’re going to go see what’s taking Melody so long,” Draco said uncomfortably and he got up, dragging Hermione behind him.
“We’ll join you,” Harmony chirped and practically dragged Philippe from the table.
‘What was that?’ Hermione squeaked in Draco’s mind.
‘One last hurrah between the four of them?’ He tossed out.
Hermione frowned. ‘Wouldn’t that be…strange?’
‘Not particularly, no,’ Draco said aloofly.
Hermione frowned. ‘Would you want to do something like that?’
‘Well it’s a moot question, isn’t it? We couldn’t even if we both agreed to it because of the fidelity bond, but I assure you I don’t. You’re all the woman I need.’
‘You’re really okay with us?’ Hermione asked in a small voice.
Draco mentally snorted. ‘Trust me Hermione, I wasn’t happy at first but now I couldn’t think of anyone else I’d rather spend my life with.’
She nodded and gave him a small smile. Chuckling, he grabbed her in a bear hug and knocked on the restroom door. “Hey in there, look alive!”
“Yeah! I want my music!” Harmony yelled.
“Good grief, don’t get your panties in a bunch,” Melody growled as she yanked a shell shocked Ginny through the door. The gold dress looked absolutely stunning on the redhead. It hugged in all the right places and accentuated her womanly features. The color looked exquisite with her eyes and skin tone. “Ta-daa!” Melody announced.
“Wow Red, you clean up good!” Draco said, laughter in his eyes at watching her squirm uncomfortably.
“I don’t think-“ Ginny said softly.
“Nonsense!” Melody snapped. “Shake what your momma gave ya and watch Potter sit up and beg for treats.”
“He’s beyond mad at me,” Ginny whispered.
“He’ll get over it pretty damned fast,” Melody said confidently. She looked across the room to see Harry sitting in a corner, his head in her hands and muttering to himself. She shook her head and looked around at the other side. The three vampires had their heads bowed over the table and looked to be in a heated discussion. “What are they on about?”
“Nothing!” Harmony, Philippe, Draco, and Hermione all said at once.
Melody quirked an eyebrow. “You know I can tell each and every one of you is lying, right?” They all looked at the floor and shrugged. “Well, I’ll find out.”
‘Oh she’ll find out alright,’ Draco thought ominously which caused Hermione to snicker and Melody to give them an odd look.
“Enough of this, I want to dance!” Harmony snapped.
“Fine, fine. Let the fun commence!” Melody said as she lifted her hands in the air. A fast techno beat thumped through the room and the ghostly patrons responded in kind. Potter looked up as if he’d just realized where he was. “See, he’s coming around already. Why don’t you all take off those silly cloaks and get to dancing!”
They obliged quickly. Philippe and Harmony went spinning off, laughing happily. Seeing that she was still really uncomfortable, Hermione pushed Ginny on the dance floor and asked Draco if he’d dance with her. “I’ll do you one better love. Come on, both of you. If Potter’s not shocked out of his self-pity by me dancing with both of his girls, then nothing’s going to work.”
He spun them both on the dance floor, taking extra care to step as close to Potter as he could. He smirked in delight as he watched Potter’s mouth drop in surprise and his eyes glow in anger. To egg him on, he dipped Ginny all the way to the floor while he had Hermione curl over his back in a backbend. He almost laughed with the Chosen One came stomping over.
“What do you think you’re doing Malfoy?” He yelled.
“Dancing,” Draco said dryly. “You should try it some time. It might dislodge that giant stick up your arse Potter.” He sniffed and spun the girls around again, both of them laughing at his antics.
“Why are you dancing with MY girl?” Harry growled.
Draco shrugged and dipped Hermione low; kissing her chest just above her cleavage and having Ginny dip backwards so she couldn’t protest Potter’s words. “You’re not. This could be the last time you’ll see your friend Potter. Would you rather let go of your inhibitions for one night or make everyone else’s night miserable?”
Harry huffed and yanked Ginny out of Draco’s arms, spinning her unsteadily but determined to make her laugh like Malfoy did. Ginny laughed happily and he gave her a small smile. She really was gorgeous, especially in that dress. Draco spun off with Hermione, his mission accomplished which earned him a heated kiss.
Melody came running up to Harry who was concentrating on not stepping on Ginny’s feet. “You’re underdressed Potter,” she said haughtily and waved her hand. He was suddenly clad in what seemed to be the standard outfit of the night, black leather pants and a silk shirt to match Ginny’s dress. Ginny’s eyes lit up as she blushed heavily. “Much better!” Melody laughed and walked back across the room to try and break up the powwow her husband seemed to be having with her friends.
The next song came on and Draco swept Hermione in a fast cha cha. It was just like the club; they entered a world all by themselves. There was no Potter, no Dark Lord, and no other people in the room. Suddenly, Hermione caught something out of the side of her eye and stumbled. Draco looked over to see Celeste and Melody locked in a heated kiss while Alex and Severus looked on with lust in their eyes.
“Well, guess that answers that question,” Draco snickered and Hermione shook her head. “Actually,” he said slyly and ground his growing erection into her arse. “That gives me an idea.” His voice dropped a register and caused her stomach to flutter. Before he could further his pursuit, he was knocked off balance by a stunned Potter.
“I thought she said that they were just friends.” He said softly. Draco looked back over to see that Severus was now kissing Melody.
He laughed. “Well Potter, maybe they want a bit of fun before tomorrow as well.”
Harry shook his head in shock. “Merlin.” He looked over just as the strobe lights came on and caught the glint of light off of Malfoy’s face. They’d both had their hair in their faces earlier. “What is that on your face?”
“What?” Draco asked, confused at the change of topic. Hermione smiled and brushed his fringe out of his face. “Oh that, it’s the symbol for our bond.”
“A hummingbird,” Harry said flatly.
“There’s more!” Ginny said excitedly and jerked Hermione around, pulling her hair off her neck and back to show Harry the intertwined lion and dragon. Then she pointed out the tiny otter at the bottom. Hermione turned around and showed him her right wrist and ankles as well. Then she tilted her head backwards so he could see the rune collar.
“Gosh there are so many,” Harry breathed. “How do you hide them all?”
“Well, they can’t be glamoured so we have to use makeup. Or the collar you heard about,” Hermione growled.
Harry blushed. “Look, I’m sorry. I just wanted to know.”
“Yes well now you do Potter so I’d ask you to stop with all the sneaking about because you might tip someone else off too,” Draco snapped.
Harry narrowed his eyes but decided to keep his thoughts to himself. “Fine, but I still don’t trust you Malfoy.”
Draco shrugged. “I really don’t give a fuck if you do or not Potter. Just trust Hermione and we’re good.”
“Done,” Harry said softly. “Just know this Malfoy. If you hurt her, I’ll kill you.”
Draco snorted in irritation. “You have a memory problem Potter. If I hurt her, I hurt myself and if you kill me, you kill her.”
Harry narrowed his eyes angrily. “You know what I mean Malfoy.”
“I’d die before I’d hurt her Potter,” Draco said softly.
Harry nodded and asked Hermione if she would care to dance. They spun off happily.
“Cock blocker,” Draco mumbled.
Ginny giggled madly. “There’s still plenty of time.”
“What about you Red? Seeing any action now or is Potter still being chaste?”
Ginny huffed. “I wish his hands would follow his eyes.”
Draco chuckled. “Don’t worry; he won’t be able to behave himself all night.”
“Sure,” Ginny said softly, her tone clear that she didn’t believe him for a second.
Draco gently squeezed her shoulder in a comforting gesture. “He’s crazy about you Red. He just doesn’t want to bollocks it all up.”
Ginny smiled softly. “Thank you Blondie. You know, I think you and Mione are perfect for each other.”
Draco grinned. “Me too. Now, new song, new partner. Let’s go steal our dates back shall we?”
They danced for what seemed like hours, lost to the beat and plied with alcohol that the adults seemed to have no problem distributing. Draco and Hermione were having tons of fun just watching the shock on Harry and Ginny’s faces when Snape got on the dance floor. Melody had spent half the night ensuring him that she’d put a spell on Harry and Ginny to make sure that everything that happened in the room stayed there.
Harry and Draco had come to a very uneasy truce. They didn’t speak to each other, rather standing stoically while the girls chatted away. Draco didn’t dare ask Ginny to dance anymore, feeling that he could damage the fragile balance they’d seemed to reach. The night wore on and the couples spent most of their time out on the dance floor.
Hermione was dancing as if Draco was her own personal stripper pole and driving him mad. Having had enough of his wife’s teasing, he dragged her to the bathroom and into the back stall. “I can’t stand it any longer,” he breathed in her ear as he nipped at her neck. “I’ve got to have you right now.”
“Draco,” Hermione moaned. “We can’t! Someone could walk in.”
“They could,” he agreed. “That’s half the fun though. Come on Mrs. Malfoy, live a little.”
Hermione whimpered as he scraped his fangs across her throat and completely gave in. She didn’t know if it was the alcohol, the thought that this might be her last night alive, the club atmosphere, or a combination all three but she didn’t care. Draco was doing wicked things with his hands as his tongue laved at her neck. Suddenly, she felt a breeze as he tore her knickers off, too impatient to take them off properly. It only excited her further.
Deciding that turnabout was fair play, she ripped his shirt off of him and buried her hands in his hair as she roughly scraped her fangs over his collar bone and down his chest, almost drawing blood. He let out a feral groan and slid two of his fingers into her wet channel. She keened and threw her head back. Not to be deterred, she ripped the buttons off his trousers and yanked them down, almost swooning when she realized he wasn’t wearing underwear. She took his engorged length in hand and pumped it roughly.
After a few minutes of that, Draco was done playing. He removed his fingers from his wife’s needy pussy and batted her hand off of his member which earned him a whimper of protest. He lifted her up and pressed her against the wall roughly. Spreading her wide, he drove home in one swift thrust. She moaned in ecstasy as he began pounding into her.
“Harder!” She screamed, lost in the moment and not caring who heard her cries. He obliged, ramming his cock into her as hard as he could. Feeling his release coming, he leaned forward and bit down on her neck, his fangs piercing her skin. She screamed her release, muttering incoherently as she experienced wave after wave of pleasure.
He pulled back and licked at her wound when he was right on the verge of exploding. She suddenly ducked her head and bit down right at his pulse point, causing him to let out a harsh yell and empty himself inside her. He thrust weakly a few more times before she pulled her fangs out and licked his wound, sealing it as if it had never been there.
They slid to the floor in exhaustion, thoroughly sated. After a few minutes, Draco cleaned them both up and repaired her knickers. She sheepishly fixed his shirt and trousers and then put her knickers back on as he tucked himself back in. They walked out of the bathroom on shaky legs to see eight pairs of eyes staring at them. Hermione blushed furiously and ducked her head. Draco merely smirked and dared Potter to make a comment. The latter wore a look crossed between abject horror and seething anger.
Alex burst out laughing and pointed at his chest. “Told you it made it hotter.” Draco looked down to see two long scratches a fang’s width apart running down his chest. He merely shrugged and flicked a finger to heal it, frowning when it didn't heal. “That’s what your tongue is for, is it not?” Alex laughed again and pulled Melody onto the dance floor.
Hermione refused to look at everyone. Instead she turned around and gently licked the wounds she’d given her husband. “Keep that up and you’ll be in for round two, wife,” Draco growled in her ear, causing her to shudder. He smirked and nipped at her ear lobe.
A few drinks later found Draco and Hermione making out furiously in a darkened corner. A knock sounded out and the music got softer. “What now?” Melody growled and stomped over to their table. She had been in the middle of a four way dance. She grabbed a cloak and threw it on, storming over to answer the door.
“Wonder who that is?” Hermione muttered.
“Probably Dumbledore,” Draco growled. “No one else would know where we were.”
Hermione huffed and laid her head down on his shoulder, looking out into the room. When she caught sight of her friends, she chuckled. Draco joined her a few seconds later. Harry had Ginny pushed up against a wall and was snogging the life out of her.
“Judging by hand placement, I’d say Red is about to get her wish,” Draco said, cocking his head and watching as Potter’s hand trailed up the leg Ginny had wrapped around his waist.
“Damn it!” Melody yelled and the room went silent. Everyone froze. “Party’s over guys. They’ve fixing to revive Weasley and Molly is beside herself because she can’t find her precious baby girl.” She slammed the door.
“She’s busy being debauched by the Chosen One,” Draco yelled playfully. The two in question had broken up and were trying to make themselves as small as possible.
“Well, you all know I’m in favor of a good debauching but I’m afraid we’re going to have to cut the night short. I’m sure you two are crushed.” Melody smirked.
“Actually, I was having a lovely time,” Draco grinned.
“Yes, we all heard! Alright Ginny, dress off,” Melody said, pointing to the loo. The red head sadly walked to the restroom to change back into her school clothes. “Time to turn back into a frog Prince Chosen One.” Melody snorted as she waved her hand, returning Potter’s clothing to normal.
In short order, Ginny had come out and handed the dress back to Melody. She gave them each a sober up potion which they downed quickly. After a quick reminder on the importance of silence, everyone donned their cloaks again and walked out of the room so it could right itself. Philippe and Harmony had given Melody several hugs and wished everyone luck before they port keyed out of the castle. Dumbledore came gliding down the hall just as they disappeared.
“Ah, I see you’ve found them Professor,” he said happily. Molly was right on his heels.
“Ginny! Where have you been?” She screeched.
“She was just doing a project for Defense Against the Dark Arts, Mrs. Weasley,” Melody said smoothly. “She’s quite special.”
Molly paled. “No,” she breathed, obviously thinking about her daughter’s magical infliction.
“Oh yes. She’s one of my best students,” Melody said cheerfully. “It’s a pleasure to teach her. I’m so glad she agreed to work with us.”
“Yes,” Molly said thickly. “Well, Ron’s fixing to be revived and I thought it’d be nice for us all to be together.”
“Of course,” Melody chirped. “See you on Monday Ginny. Harry, will you be going with them or are you going to stay?”
“Oh Harry!” Molly squeaked as if she’d just seen him. “Why don’t you come along dear? You saved his life, after all.”
Harry nodded and walked off. As soon as they were out of eyesight, Draco growled and kicked the wall. He still felt horrible about the entire poison deal. Melody placed a comforting hand on his shoulder and shook her head for him to stop. His shoulders slumped.
“Well,” Melody drawled. “Time for bed. I’m sure we all have things we need to be doing.” She winked devilishly. “Sev’s office at eight a.m. sharp.”
The couple nodded and held back a laugh as Melody sashayed down the hall, three very interested vampires following in her wake.
AN: Hello everyone. This was it, the chapter you were ALL waiting for. I hope I did it justice. I think I rewrote it about six times. I didn't want Harry to completely blow his top. After all, he's been slowly introduced to the idea for a while now. (I think that was the method to Melody's madness all along.) So, I hope you enjoyed this extra long chapter. It might be a few days before I can get the next one up on the grounds that... I haven't finished it yet! This thesis is cutting into my valuable story writing time! LOL. As always, thank you all so very much for your excellent reviews. They mean more to me than I can say. Be sure to keep reviewing and let me know how I'm doing and if you catch any errors. I do go back and fix them. Hopefully, there aren't many in this one. Until next time.. Love you guys!
