Severus’s hands shook as he looked down at the still form of his wife and he started to openly sob. He was a man broken, his tears wouldn’t stop and he couldn’t stop the shakes that wracked his body and Poppy’s voice still echoed in his brain. She had to be wrong there was no way that this amazing woman was going to die after something that women did every day and were still doing. The baby was crying and had Hermione been on the floor it would have been the same exact scene that he saw all those years ago in the town of Godric’s Hollow and just like back then…he hated the child that screamed so much.

“She’s breathing” He rasped out.

“It’s very weak” Poppy said “Severus…you need to take care of your son now…”

“KEEP HIM AWAY FROM ME!” He shouted “He ruined everything”

“Severus” Minerva put her hand on his back “He’s just a baby…he’s your baby” She tried to hug him but he pulled away and laid his down against Hermiones arm.

“Get him away” He hissed.

“I’ll take him” Tonks offered.

“Remus” Severus turned his tortured stare to the other man “Bite her…bite her and she will live”

“I won’t” Remus told him, tears filling his eyes as well.

“But…” He started.

“She will turn in to a monster” Remus snapped “She will be a monster”

“I don’t care if she’s a monster” Severus sobbed “As long as she’s alive” As he watched his wife’s chest rise and fall she took one last shuddering breath but didn’t take another.

“She’s dead” Poppy whispered, her voice hung in the air.

Narcissa started to sob in to Lucius who stood still and looked at her body with the strangest look on his face. Remus closed his eyes and looked to be praying while Pansy held on to Harry and Luna put her head against Severus’s back as he begged weakly for Hermione to not leave him…to come back. Hermione had been the glue that held so many people together and they all needed her, Poppy was getting ready to suggest covering and moving the body when there was a scream that filled the room. Everyone looked over at Tonks just in time to see her water break and her wide eyes looking back at them in shock, she had just gone in to labor. Suddenly Lucius moved closer to Hermiones bed and pushed Severus aside he stood near Hermiones prone body and looked at Narcissa who nodded slightly but pointed at her belly as if reminding him that she was pregnant. Luna seemed to know what it was that they were silently conversing about and she moved closer to Lucius and took his hand. There was a collective intake of breath as Lucius put his hand over Hermiones unbeating heart and then he started to glow all of that glowing, golden energy moving down his arms and in to his hands…

Hermione opened her eyes and let out a soft smile. She was lying on super soft moss in a beautiful forest, the trees were tall and old and she could hear the most lovely voice singing the most beautiful song that she had ever heard but didn’t know. Standing, Hermione followed the voice out of the forest and in to a clearing where there was a beautiful woman sitting on a rock with her feet in a brook. Her hair was extremely long and golden and it covered her breasts, she wore no make-up but was completely breathtaking and when she smiled at the approaching Hermione the beauty of it nearly knocked the wind out of the muggle-born.

“Hermione Granger” Her musical voice greeted “I’ve waited for a while”

“Who are you?” Hermione asked “And where is Severus?”

“I am Aphrodite or Venus whichever you like better” She answered “Severus is still alive”

“I’m dead?” Hermione asked.

“Yes” She answered “But you can be saved. Their working on you now”

“I want to go home” Hermione sobbed.

“What do you want?” Aphrodite asked “Most in the world what is it that you want?”

“My family” She answered.

“But they are here” Aphrodite told her “Your mother and your father are just beyond that garden right there…”

“I want Severus” She said “And my son, my Tristan” Hermione put her head down and started to cry “I didn’t get to hold him”

“I am the goddess of Love and Fertility” Aphrodite informed “I have been working so hard on making the wizarding world bigger, I’ve even made my special cases”

“I don’t care” Hermione said “I DON’T CARE!”

“Remus Lupin” She said ignoring the screaming woman “Was a special case that…went the other way…I did not plan on his being with Nymphadora Tonks but I’m happy either way”

“Who did you have planned?” Hermione asked.

“You” She answered “Then I moved on to Severus Snape and you…that one took off so well and I gave you two the extra pushes that you needed. The wizarding world being overrun by intelligent beings like Snape, Lupin, Malfoy and You not to mention Potter and Lovegood…it would be amazing”

“Then why?” Hermione started.

“Don’t think that the Malfoy’s only annoy you humans” Aphrodite laughed “I had hopes for Draco but he decided that he liked men so I was forced to look back at Lucius and Narcissa but you beat me to it. Your pregnancy got Narcissa’s need to nest to start up and take over again all I had to do was give them twins”

“That was you?” Hermione smiled.

“You got Potter and Parkinson together” She went on “You’ve been scoping people out for Lovegood and got Lupin and Tonks’ relationship fixed”

“I just wanted them all to be happy” Hermione said.

“You’ve made my own hopes for the wizarding world easier and therefor I owe you a favor” She informed “Are you sure that all you want is your family”

“I want my family” Hermione said “But I can’t be selfish. Please, just make Severus be able to finally be happy and let him take care of our son, let Tonks and Narcissa have healthy babies and live long, fruitful lives. That is what I truly want”

“Okay” Aphrodite smiled brightly “I know for a fact that Narcissa and Tonks will have healthy…and large families. Severus will be an amazing father and I know just how to make sure that he is happy for the rest of his life”

“Where do I go?” Hermione asked.

“Go to the garden and continue through it” The goddess instructed “Your family will be waiting for you”

Severus was yelling at Lucius to stop doing whatever it was he was doing. But Lucius ignored the man, the golden light turned into a bright ball of light and he quickly pressed on her chest as if giving her muggle CPR. The light disappeared in to her chest again and again, once, twice and three times he gave it once last go before he dropped his hands and bowed his head in defeat. There was a sudden gasp and then Hermione was coughing and breathing heavily her eyes roamed over each face before they settled on Severus’s and she started to cry.

“Hermione!” Severus ran over and looked like he wanted to touch her but was afraid of hurting her “Oh my god, my baby…what did you do, Lucius?”

“I gave her back her soul” He said then smirked “It’s a Veela thing”

“Where’s Tristan?” Hermione asked.

“Tristan?” Severus asked “Is that what you’ve decided to name him?”

“Yes” She said weakly “It was my father name. Our son will be named Tristan Severus Snape”

“It’s perfect” He whispered “Just like you”

“Have you held him?” She asked.

“No” He said “I was worried about you”

“I want to hold him” She said “Can I?”

“I guess so” Poppy answered though she was completely bewildered as to how she was alive.

“Mr. Lupin” A Healer said coming from behind a screen “Would you like to meet your daughter?”

“Is she okay?” He asked.

“She is perfect” The Healer answered “And your wife is fine”

“Thank you” He said and smiled at Hermione before walking away.

A/N: Did you really think I was going to kill Hermione? More like KEEP her dead? Tell me your thoughts.
