(I'm thinking)
"I'm speaking"
Last Time:
"Excuse me? What do you mean Dumbledore won't be going to trial?" The Minister asked trying to keep his temper in check so he didn't scare the already nervous healer in front of him ...

"It's interesting that they found a classroom without windows, but not a place you can call your living quarters. You'd also have to walk across the entire sunlit school just to get to your class." Frank mumbled as he double checked that the shutters were secured and that no light can get through.
Trocar sighed,"Minerva is looking into it, but it will take time and, keep in mind, I've only been here a little over a day. Besides, I'm staying in Eventide until they find a good room ... Ok … ok, first class in about 600 years … do I have everything? Will they like me? I don't want to scare anyone." Trocar murmured to himself as he frantically searched his new office and living quarters.
Frank watched the vampire in amusement, "Calm down, Trocar. Cache and I will be there too smooth things over-"
"No offense, but you won't help calm the kids down," Trocar commented pointedly reminding the werewolf that they were in the same boat.
"Oh right." Frank chuckled and slowly frowned as Trocar's anxiety visibility increased with each passing moment. "Trocar, you'll be fine-"
"I've been here a day and everyone has avoided me … maybe a vampire is too much for them." Trocar pondered sadly.
"Cache stood up for you and Minerva agreed it was worth a shot. You can't back away now. Those kids don't know it, but they need someone like you. Once you have them in your classroom and they get to know you they'll fall head over heels just like I did." Frank said too casually.
Trocar"s eyes flicked over to the werewolf for a split second before finishing packing his case filled with papers for class, "We discussed this-"
"Yeah I remember … but I think it should be discussed again. So much has changed compared to 10 years ago. Cache and Severus have a possible cure, you were hired as a teacher and Dumbledore …" Frank passed briefly and smirked as he thought back on something, "So many obstacles are gone and there's a good sign for things to only continue improving in the future."
Trocar sighed, "You of all people should know it won't be that easy to change people. You're past is the prime example of what our kind has had to endure. We can't add to the children when there are so many who are still being hunted."
"I'm also proof that you're protective of kids. Of course, I'm not a child anymore …" Frank said as he walked up to the vampire, "and while you still treat me like a kid who needs mothering occasionally you haven't looked at me like a kid in years." Frank smiled making Trocar look away clearly a little flustered. "Now may be the time we've been waiting for … I'm not going away again no matter how hard you try to push me away."
"Frank ..." Trocar trailed off not sure how to continue.
For years he tried saving young creatures and to his horror saw less and less each year. The thought of having kids was as terrifying as it was desired. After all, he couldn't imagine bringing life into this world only for it to be cruelly hunted down, but Frank came close to changing his mind. Trocar knew the young werewolf he saved as a cub only left him because the vampire was being torn up by the fears he had and he was relieved. If Frank stayed he would've been too tempted to resist.
"Why did you come back?" Trocar asked quietly.
"I couldn't keep it up anymore." Frank shrugged, "We should go."
Trocar glanced at the clock, "Right …" He grabbed his bag, put on his cloak and walked at a human pace to his windowless classroom with Frank following behind him. As he walked through the door and removed his cloak his heart clenched when he saw the students show varying degrees of anxiety when looking at him. The comforting feeling of Cache's smile and the werewolf's hand gently caressing his own helped him steady himself so he could address the class, "I realize this is odd for everyone here. It's strange for me too, but if you want to learn how to survive I can, and will, teach you everything you need to know. I've lived along time and I know how to survive against spells, creatures and many things you probably didn't know you could protect yourself from like potions." Of course, after Lockhart's stunt many people perked up at that. "Are there any questions? Please avoid any questions about today's newspaper. I don't have any details about the former headmaster or the investigation that hasn't already been reported in the Daily Prophet."
A few hands did go back down, but several hands remained up and one was picked by Trocar, "What ways are there to detect potion?" The young student asked. Cache glanced over at Hermione expecting some sort of outburst, but the young witch seemed to be absorbed in her own thoughts and not even listening. He frowned as he noticed that Neville was also lost in thought, but, at least, he knew what that might be about.
Trocar frowned, "I'm actually surprised the tips and tricks have fallen out of favor considering their usefulness. In short, yes. There a three methods you can use to protect yourself from potions. Teaching these methods will involve us crossing into Runes, Charms and Potions. Your other professors may no like that, but defending yourself properly will mean using everything to survive." Trozar said keeping his usual kind, calm tone. Another kid raised a hand, "Yes?"
"Aren't you a useless teacher then since vampires can't use magic? How can you teach us spells?" The brat argued causing a rush of whispers from flustered students.
Before Trocar, who was hurt by those words, could say anything Cache whistled detting everyone's attention, "Yeah, hi! Remember me? The assistant for this class who's human and can use magic?" Cache chuckled as several students, the brat included, clammed up when they realized that he wasn't just there for show. "Myself and Frank will be helping out, but in all seriousness we aren't needed. Spells require either an incantation or particular movement or some combination to work, which Trocar knows. Does he really have to display what will happen in order to teach it? I learned just fine just through his descriptions of what will happen."
Feeling a little more at ease Trocar smiled, "Yes. Now let's actually begin with a demonstration of a charm. It's a shield charm that is not only a very effective defense against creatures, but is also the precursor to the charm used in potion detection charm I mentioned earlier." The vampire's heart went out to the children who were now listening closely no doubt out of fear of running into another Lockhart. "The charm will require a motion at first, but it's the easiest charm to learn how to do fast, without that motion and, believe it or not, without much thought at all. Here's what I mean."
The students barely saw what happened since it all went way too fast. First, they were looking at the professor and then they heard a pop where Cache was standing. To their shock both the werewolf and vampire were next to the assistant, bleeding from the mouths and Cache had a very subtle glow on his skin.
Cache smiled and held up his hand, which was still slightly glowing, "This is the shield charm. It covers your entire body as you can see. I'm using a lot of power so you can see it, but this much is not needed and normally you can't see it."
Trocar nodded as he wiped the blood away his mouth and, of course, glanced at Frank in concern before turning to his students, "Before any of you panic yes we did attack Cache and as you can see he is fine while we were damaged." Many of the kids looked startled, but the fear gave way to fascination as they saw Cache was fine. "What you saw was an incomplete version of the charm and you simply needed to see that to show you that my fangs can't get through. However, you should never let any creature that poses a threat to even get that close. After all, there's much more danger in just letting anything getting close enough to pick you up and crush you. This is where the other versions of this charm comes in handy for one actually repels any threat that's too close or too fast to pin down. Cache, Lyra and Libra will be helping by feeling your magic to see when you have the right flow of magic with the motion since this isn't an easy charm to see the result of."
Frank chuckled, "Unless we tried biting you all." He said clearly joking, but the students stiffened slightly.
In order to lighten the mood Trocar tried shifting the focus back on Cache, "Ok! Who would like to try first? Cache will just hold you in a way that's comfortable to you or you'll hold Lyra or Libra and they will feel for the shield after you take a minute to practice this motion." Trocar cupped his one hand except for the middle finger and twisted his wrist about 90 degrees before bending his wrist. It seemed quite simple and several students tried it, but Draco was the first to stumble forward. "Would you like to try, Draco?"
Draco looked startled for only a split second before recovering, "Yes, Professor."
Trocar smiled as he noticed the shyness in Draco's face as Cache took hold of his hand, "Are you ready, Draco?" Draco nodded, "Very well, but Blaise," Trocar looked straight at he dark skinned Slytherin, "I don't allow hexing in my class."
Blaise twitched not thinking anyone saw him give Draco a little nudge with a hex, but it seems he was wrong, "Yes, Professor."
"Good. Now everyone keep practicing the motion and, Draco, you try casting the charm." Trocar instructed. When the kids continued their practice he kept watch. The vampire smiled in amusement as he saw how sweet Draco and Cache looked. They were just holding hands, but it looked like they were in their own world with both unconsciously trying to get closer to each other. He chuckled when the two kneazles, who may have been as sneaky as Blaise, accidently pushed the two into each other as they raced up to the other students. It was cute, but now Trocar noticed a problem.
It had nothing to do Cache and Draco per say. What bothered Trocar was that some kids were clearly having trouble, but he didn't want to scare them by getting too close. Just as he was about to ask Cache to assist some of the other kids he felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked over his shoulder and saw Frank.
"Go on." The werewolf nudged him forward encouragingly.
Trocar took a deep breath and, at a slow human pace, he went over to a girl who was having trouble. Being careful not to startle her he crouched and offered her tips. Frank was happy to see that by the last few minutes of class everyone was more relax around both him and Trocar. It wasn't a perfectly relaxed atmosphere, but it was a good start. Plus it was cute to see Draco look disappointed when Cache did eventually have to let go and help the other students. On of those students was Neville.
"Need some help, Nev?" Cache asked noticing a look from his friend that implied that he wanted to talk.
"Ummm actually," Neville looked nervous, "About today's article … Do you know if-"
"If you can see your parents." Cache finished and sighed when his friend nodded, "I don't know. This is an investigation. I'll ask the Headmistress and see if it's possible." Cache promised.
"Thank you." Neville said gratefully.
At the end of the class Trocar smiled, "This has been a great and we should all be ready to start the next version by next week. Class dismissed."
"Hey, Frank. Are you going to join the staff for lunch?" Cache asked as the students left the torch lit classroom.
"Yeah. I was thinking of helping out in the rest of the classes today. Why?" Frank asked.
Cache frowned, "I might be late to the class after lunch-"
"Why?! Are you not feeling well? Is it your eyes again?" Trocar fussed as he looked Cache over.
The assistant chuckled, "No. my eyes are fine now. I just need to talk to the Headmistress about letting Neville see his parents before they're moved."
Trocar looked saddened, "The poor thing must be worried. Of course, you can!"
"Thanks. I'll try to get back quickly so can Lyra and Libra stay to help?" Cache asked and smiled aas his kneazles mewed.
"Of course! They're such a great help!" Trocar beamed with a pat to the furry kneazle muzzles.
"Great! If I'm not back by the time class is done I'll meet you guys in Potions." With that agreed on they all went to the Great Hall for lunch before Cache parted ways and went to the Headmistress' office. After knocking and being allowed in he was surprised to find Hermione. "I'm sorry to interrupt, Headmistress."
The Headmistress shook her head, "You aren't interrupting. Actually, your timing couldn't be better." Minerva shot Hermione a warning look to stop her when it looked like she was about to object to something. "Ms. Granger has informed me of something rather urgent. Could you pose as her school representative and take her to Gringotts?"
"Right now? I could since my place in the DADA class is covered, but could I ask about Neville Longbottom's parents? He wants see them." Cache asked.
"I figured that might come up so I got in contact with St. Mungo's earlier today. Unfortunately, visiting rights aren't allowed until the investigation is closed. If anything changes they will inform me." Minerva explained.
Cache smiled, "Thank you. Shall we go, Ms. Granger?" He said trying to be nice in spite of the attitude she has constantly shown him.
Hermione nodded quickly and followed in a tense silence. Cache considered trying to break the silence, but one look at Hermione told him it was wiser to stay quiet. They flooed to the wizarding bank in silence, they waited at the check-in counter in silence and waited for a goblin to meet in complete silence. Cache did remember an issue he wanted to bring up with Griphook so as they waited he wrote a note. Of course, Griphook, having sensed Cache's magic once he came into the bank, was spotted so Cache gave him the note hoping for advice later, but that seemed to make the air between him and Hermione even more tense. He was thankful for the quick arrival of the goblin Gritmace and for this awkward silence to end.
"Ms. Granger … I was hoping you'd come to your senses." Gritmace sneered before leading them away.
Hermione bristled, "What a terrible thing to say to a client!"
Gritmace ignored her in favor of looking at Cache, "I am Gritmace. Who are you?"
"I'm Cache, a staff representative from Hogwarts, Master Gritmace." Cache said with a slight respectful bow as they continued through the halls.
The goblin seemed slightly taken aback by the politeness, but nodded nonetheless, "Good. you will be present-"
"I refuse to have him in there!" Hermione snapped.
"You don't get a say in the matter, Ms. Granger. It during the school year and you're underage, which means your representative has an obligation to keep an eye on you. I suggest you don't make this difficult considering the subject you will bring up. Depending on how you want to get through this having a representative at your side can only help. Now inside." Gritmace ordered as he opened a to a private room.
Cache was a little shocked by the goblin's attitude. Griphook was ready to bend and break rules for his safety. While Hermione did need a reality check it was shocking to see a Gringotts goblin talking so sharply to a client. However, as Cache followed the witch into the room he noticed someone in the hall. With all the news lately he knew who it was right away. It was Cornelius Fudge, the Minister. Now Cache knew why the goblin was so harsh. It's all to protect his client and give her the best chance to get through some trouble.
Once everyone was seated the goblin asked, "Would I be correct in saying this is about the source of the money in your vault?"
"Is it true that Gringotts gives out payment plans for muggle-burns?" The young witch asked blatantly ignoring the goblin's question.
"Any student having issues with money can make a deal with us. We will find low prices on what you need, offer scholarships and find you summer jobs to help. This, by the way, is only the beginning of what Gringotts can offer and it's something you should've discussed with us face to face instead of using that wallet. Speaking of," Gritmace made a 'give me' gesture with his clawed hand. Hermione stiffened, but reluctantly pulled out her wallet and handed it over. "I will have a new wallet made for you after we discuss what should've been discussed in the first place-"
"HE MUST'VE POTIONED ME TOO!" Hermione snapped angrily. "That's why I'm in this mess! It wasn't my fault!"
Gritmace scoffed before looking at Cache, "Be as brutally blunt as possible. What is her demeanor like?"
Cache understood the point. He was asked to describe the signs of a potioned person for Hermione not the goblin, who clearly knew the answer already, "She places her grades above everything and seems more interested in showing people up than anything else. There was even an incident involving who had the better familiar where she insisted my kneazles were fake and her cat was a pure kneazle. While she does think highly of Dumbledore she also thought highly of Lockhart even after the love potions were removed."
"Love potions, you say?" The goblin asked curiously.
Hermione sneered, "We were tricked into taking those potions! It doesn't count!"
The representative continued as if she didn't speak at all, "A scan was done after the removal, which she did cooperate for even though she refused to see the results and still refuses even though Poppy has been trying to speak with her. She also came here willingly-"
"Ron said something and I had to know for sure! That's all!" The witch exclaimed.
"Ms. Granger!" The goblin barked getting her attention, "You're missing the point. When a person is potioned everything they care about is dropped for the one who potioned them and their instructions. Even if you were instructed to act normally your behavior wouldn't be so strong. It different for everyone especially those well trained in mental magic, but some things are sure signs that you aren't under a potion. You wouldn't have cared about the furball's status. You wouldn't have held Lockhart in high regard after the love potion was removed. You definitely wouldn't have come here, curious or not, and, most importantly, the money-"
"Doesn't that prove it?! If Dumbledore gave me money then he must've potioned me like the others the Daily Prophet reported!" Hermione argued before glaring at Cache, "and why would Poppy be so persistent if she isn't trying tell me about a potion?" She said with a smiled thinking she argued her case, but her smile faded at the look on Cache's.
"Ms.-... Hermione, this is not a place to discuss this." Cache said seriously and Hermione seemed to become quite silent after that. "You were saying about the money, Master Gritmace?"
The goblin cleared his throat trying to ignore the sudden awkward feeling, "Right. The fact that he gave you money is a good sign he had no intention of potioning you. After all, why pay someone you potioned? He may have been setting you up to be framed. An easy thing to do when you find someone whose starstruck, which seems to fit you better than potioning. In which case, it would've benefited him to let your clearly willing behavior show for any investigation." Gritmace pulled out a document and quill. "Sign over Harry Potter's money and this will get easier. I recommend speaking to this man about testifying."
Hermione gasped as the Minister himself came in after the goblin opened the door, "Minister Fudge? Testify? You mean against Dumbledore? I don't understand … the newspaper said a trial wouldn't be possible after last night."
Cornelius smirked, "I made some arrangements. The trial is this weekend. If you want to have a say in it and avoid any charges sign over what you have left of Harry Potter's money and testify." Hermione stared at the document for a few seconds before finally signing the document. Afterwards, the Minister left saying he'd arrange everything with the headmistress so Hermione won't have to miss anything or wait long. Cache waited as the goblin spoke to her about the options she wanted in the first place and finally took her back to the Headmistress's office.
Minerva looked up from her desk when she saw that Cache and Hermione were back, "I got an owl from the Minister explaining that you agreed to testify. If you'd like Cache can escort you over the weekend."
"I don't mind." Hermione said softly and seemed to be trying to steady herself to ask something, "Headmistress … can I … I've been putting off a talk with Poppy and I was wondering if I could do that now."
The headmistress glanced at Cache and upon seeing his relieved, slightly pleading face she knew she had to allow it, "I will pardon you from your next classes. Go to the infirmary."
Of course, Cache took her there and even stayed as Poppy explained. She was too stunned to speak at all. It took a long time for her to even agree to the treatment for the curse Lockhart used to carve his name in her womb, but she still didn't seem to react with any emotion until …
"Would you like me to get someone to stay with you?" Poppy asked kindly as Hermione changed into a gown and laid back on the bed to have the curse removed like all the other girls Lockhart cursed.
Cache saw it. A flicker of sadness and fear going across those brown eyes. Perhaps she realized she didn't actually have a friend to stay by her side. Maybe Ron, but really they were two people hired to do tasks for the same goals not friends. "If Hermione will allow it I will stay." He said and smiled at the young witch.
Suddenly, she broke down nearly screaming as tears poured down her face, "Why you?! … why so nice! … the only … one was … Harry! Now … he hates … me!" She cried out between sobs. Cache just held her and let her cry not sure what else to do. He was mad, but he didn't hate her. Unfortunately, he couldn't just say that so he stayed quiet and waited for her to calm down. Cache stayed through the treatment and until she fell asleep with her cat, which appeared seemingly out of nowhere to comfort her bringing about a fresh wave of tears at first.
Cache smiled sadly at Poppy as a silent farewell before leaving. Though, he didn't have to go far for once he opened the door to the infirmary he found Lyra and Libra waiting for him, "Hey." He whispered and shut the door. "I'm sorry, girls. There were a few issues and everything took much longer than I thought. Ready to go home? I bet you're hungry since we apparently missed dinner."
With the two happy kneazles at his side he went down to Severus' living quarters to floo home. When he opened the door he blushed lightly as he heard heated moans of a certain vampire landlord's name coming from the bedroom. He quickly headed for the floo, but was distracted by the parchment on the desk with potion formulas on it. Apparently, Severus was busy working on the potential cure when Sanguini thought he needed a break. Two notes labeled 'Ideally' caught Cache's eye ...
Needs full moonlight of 12 hours.
Needs to be in a pitch black room, but monitored closely.
Cache pondered the notes until, "Oh Merlin! Ahhh Sanguini! Your tongue ahhhh so good in my ass ahhhhh! Cumming! Yes Sanguini!" Upon being reminded of the intimate goings on just one room over Cache and his kneazles made a beeline for the floo and left.
"That was an interesting day … I'm tired." Cache sighed, but he didn't get a chance to sit for someone knocked at his door. Of course, he expected Trocar or Armel or Greyback with a panicked cry for a babysitter and sleep, but to his surprise it was a sheepish Remus.
"I'm sorry. I know I should've asked first, but … he knows." Remus blushed and let a man, the one known as Sirius Black, step up to the door.
"I … I'm your godfather, but … as much as it hurts I missed far too much to be your godfather. Could we-..." Sirius' request died in his throat unsure how to continue. His eyes glanced around until he spotted a book. "That's not an easy thing to do so if you want I could help."
"I know Occlumency." Cache said, noticing the book Sirius spotted. When he saw the disheartened look on his godfather's face he decided to make a suggestion. "I haven't tried the Animagus section, though."
Sirius' eyes lit up, "I can help!" He blinked as he saw an owl come in through the window. "You got something from Gringotts." He said easily identifying the mark on the letter.
Cache let them in before going to read the letter. It was from Griphook and it posed a genius solution to the problem that has been worrying him. "If Harry Potter wanted to ensure everyone he's safe, but never wanted to return would you help?" He asked Sirius.
"In a heartbeat. Tell me how to help." The godfather said willing to help in anyway ...
