As the ball drew near, teachers were having a hard time keeping their students focused. They decided that Friday would be a day off so that the students had plenty of time to prepare for the ball. Harry and his friends were lounging around in the common room. The teens had taken to straight up living there with him. They spent so much time there that they could no longer justify living in their dorms. Dumbledore was beyond livid when he found out, but his hands were tied when it came to Harry. Any move he made against him would give him one more reason to remove him as headmaster.
“Did you hear Harry?” Hermione asked as Ginny painted her nails.
“What?” Harry asked from the kitchen.
“Two of the students who were with Ron when he attacked you are returning to school Monday. They were found to be under the Imperio.”
Draco sat up on the couch, he had been trying to take a nap.
“Really? Which ones?” He asked as Harry walked back in, a plate of sandwiches with him.
“I don’t know their names, but they are both Hufflepuff second years.” Hermione replied as she grabbed a sandwich.
“Looks like some good has come out of that situation. If they can pin point who did it, the families can take action against them.” Harry sat down next to Draco.
“They may try and come after the school as well.” Draco added.
“I doubt that. Harry dealt with it when it happened and most likely caught whoever did it in the process.” Ginny stated
“Still, I would write your solicitor and let them know what is going on.”
Harry grinned. “I’m sure you dad is aware of what is going on.”
The others chuckled as Draco hit Harry with a pillow. They spent the rest of the day relaxing before getting ready for the ball. By the time they were done, they only had a few minutes to spare before the ball started. They put their masks on and headed to the Great Hall. Students watched as they passed. Most were curious as to who they were, Harry and Draco had changed their hair color to match their outfits. Some were jealous that these kids looked so good. Others were drooling over how good they looked. When they entered the Great Hall, they spotted the twins right away and joined them.
“Well don’t you lot clean up nice?” Fred asked with a chuckle.
“We knew they could from last year remember?” George added.
“That was nothing compared to this. Last year they were good looking. This year they are hot.” Fred gave a little wink causing everyone to blush.
“Stop it you two.” Ginny said, smacking them both on the arm.
The twins gave a laugh enjoying the others discomfort. They loved teasing them. The group talked and danced throughout the night. It was the most fun any of them had had in a long time. Harry was waiting for the other shoe to drop. He knew that this happiness wasn’t going to last long and he should enjoy it while he could. He danced the night away with anyone who asked, including Draco. They joked around, having a blast as they did an over exaggerated tango across the hall. The students enjoyed watching them fight for the lead. Dumbledore watched and seethed. Harry was winning over more and more people every day. He was losing more and more people from the Order as they went to help Harry. He was broke, thanks to Harry finding out about his theft, had almost no control over the school, and couldn’t do a thing about it. Or could he. An idea popped into his head. The enemy of his enemy was his friend. He could take out two bird with one stone if he played his cards right. Ron had been a flop. The boy was on house arrest since he was too young to go to Azkaban. Arthur had taken pity on his youngest and asked Harry for help. Harry had given them a small cottage in France for Ron to live in with an elf that would take care of him. The Ministry had placed strong wards on it so that if he ever left the boundary’s, he would be instantly immobilized and Auror’s would be there in an instant to put him back and he would have a constant guard from then on. Dumbledore let his new plan develop as he watched the students. He had to be very careful. If Harry caught wind of what he was planning, he’d be done for in a minute. A smile grew on his face as his plan developed. Oh yes, this could work. What he didn’t know was that what he was planning was slowly tainting his soul.
As the party came to an end, the younger students headed off to bed. Harry had invited the older students to join him for an after party in the Room of Requirements. Most of them were more than happy to continue the party. The room was decked out. It had drinks and food, music, dance floor, and places to sit. Harry looked around and realized something with a shock, in the few months that school had been going on, he had done more for house unity than any other year. It wasn’t perfect, but people were trying. The Purebloods that had asked for help or had offered help were trying to get to know their Muggleborn counter parts. They were trying to change. Harry saw that the younger students were doing it a little bit faster than the older students.
“What are you grinning about?” Draco asked as he sat down next to him.
“Look around Draco. Most of the school is united. There have been less fights between houses, more and more students are starting to make friends in the other houses. We have done more towards having a united school in the last few months than Dumbledore has since we started school.”
Draco looked around and realized Harry was right. He saw old Pureblood family line talking and having fun with Muggleborns. They were making a difference. They were changing their world. The old way that his father was raised on were dying in front of his eyes. He couldn’t be happier about it. The two watched as new friendship were made and old ideals were changed. Soon enough the students started to wind down. Bedrooms popped up for them to use. A few even asked for hallways connecting to their dorms so they could go to their own beds. Harry and Draco watched them disperse before finally falling asleep on the couch.

Hey guys sorry this took so long. Between kids and school I'm finding very little time to sit down and write. I hope you enjoy it. In 4 weeks I will be back to having more free time since my classes will be over.
